thank you so much for being supportive ladies I appreciate you all a lot.

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/04/2009 17:25

Sorry BM I missed your message about dental treatment. I can't have it done till baby is born. I need root canal treatment on a front tooth. I need to be completly put out for it and during pregnancy - I can't lie on my back. Even when I lie on my back for 1 min for them to have a look, my blood pressure drops right down and I go extremly dizzy and can't see properly. So would more than likely pass out if I had the whole treatment lying back. And being under sedation it is obviously a bit hard as I can't tell them how I am feeling. So over all it is better to wait till after baby is born.

Bleu, see how you go. I did have awful BF problems with DD but it did pass. I was in agony for a while but eventualy it became soo easy and I carried on till DD was 8 months old and probably wouldn't have stopped if I didn't have such bad sickness and tiredness. (and I didn't know at that stage that I was anemic!). But if you feel you can't carry on then obviously formula will have to come into place.

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/04/2009 17:33

I feel really bad that DD has eaten so much crap today and watched so much TV. I really had hoped that my sisters were going to have her one day so I could get the house sorted, then I would have a bit more time to spend with her. I have spent the whole day doing housework (I know I have also been on here, but only 5-10 mins at a time, while she is eating/busy.

What washable nappies are you all using? I hope to use them once out of hospital. We use them on DD now. We have XS sandys for when she is tiny, and bumgenious and a few other brands to try out.

How many nappies are you all changing per day? On average?

mathshoneybunny27 · 17/04/2009 17:43

Birth story here

Love to all, speak soon

Bleuravin · 17/04/2009 17:46

We're on about 6-10 nappies per day.
We used eco-disposables at first because the 'little lambs' went over Meg's umblical cord and we felt it wasn't as sanitary that way. But since it fell off we're using them exclusively.
The little lambs are much smaller than the motherease ones that someone gave us. I've not heard of 'sandys.'

surprisenumber3 · 17/04/2009 17:49

hello!

Lovely birth story MM

Not long to go now nutty

well I have been having stabbing cervix pains still and contracting constantly but still nothing really happening. I think all my plug must have come away now as there was so much (and so much blood) yesterday.

Am trying curry, walking, nipple stim etc tonight as I can't stand this much longer! Went to friends today and was so uncomfortable, only want to be in the house, which is slightly boring for DS's.

Hope you are all okay xx

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/04/2009 17:55

reflexology book for tuesday - the day before my due date! Any ideas how long it takes to work if it is going to bring on labour? Going to do some googling now, is anybody else interested? If so I will copy and paste any useful info I find. Somebody "helpful" has replied on netmums (I only use the local site) saying I shouldn't be doing it till at least my due date and babies come in their own time etc.

BabyBunnyBolat · 17/04/2009 17:59

ah lovely story MM! so glad it was a positive experience!

soon2be I am using close parent pop in nappies, they are a bit bulky but really easy to use and wash up well x

I know what am I going to write about next week when the bathroom is finally finished (only taken three blardy weeks!!!)

SpringySponge · 17/04/2009 17:59

bump - what a fast birth! Shame about the tear & transfer, though

conker, George is fine. A complete pain, but fine. He had his heel prick test yesterday (I cried, even though I knew it was daft!) & was weighed - he's lost 9oz & is down to 8lb6, but that's fine. He's also been slightly jaundiced because of the ventouse, but has spent a lot of time sitting in the sunshine & is looking much better now.

I'm not getting much sleep at all, though. He feeds every 2 hours for an hour. Then takes a fair while to wind & settle. Hence the quietness

DH is still off uni at the moment because of Easter - he starts back on Monday. He's as useful as he can be & does most of the nappy changes & so on, but most of the issue is feeding which is obviously my responsibility. Luckily, the feeding isn't painful, so we're just about coping. If we were spending that long feeding & it hurt I think I'd be very close to quitting by now.

BB, you're so cute with your changed life I had a bit of a breakdown yesterday (baby blues definitely hit!) where one of the things I was crying about was that I always have a wet top now, no matter how many muslins & pads I've got. It's quite amazing.

purple, MILs aren't half something... Great news that you don't have PE, though. At least it'll be over soon & you can get back to your ironing

WFH, your mum sounds a little annoying, as well. I love the 'put Orbit in the rain' advice - it's fantastic the variation you get in parenting advice.

Don't be daft with your worries WRT your parenting ability - you have a toddler, a demanding newborn & a CS scar. That's not a standard 'two children' scenario. That's an exceptionally difficult rite of passage that nobody would be breezing through.

Congratulations to phd - will read the birth story later.

I'm going to have to be off now - will try to finish catching up this evening. I hope everyone's okay & lots of babies are being born! xx

BabyBunnyBolat · 17/04/2009 18:02

LOL at wet top - I have been using the washables and they get soaked through in an hour!!! I sprayed milk in Kara's face earlier- was pay back for the wee and burping!!!

BabyBunnyBolat · 17/04/2009 18:03

Springy - quick question is he feeding all the time or just suckling for some of it - we had to get Kara out of the habit of using me as a pacifier - took a while but cut his feeds down a lot!

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 17/04/2009 18:08

Boff - fantastic that the antibiotics are working and things are clearing up for you

i could get in the pool with help though it takes dh about 10-15 mins to get me in the bath which is shallower so not sure how it would work.

Not sure about the disabled access actually would have to ask, i dont think i could forgo the epidural (am rubbish arent i lol) though i may suprise myself and not need it, have to see how it goes i think?? Hydro experience has murdered my love of pools frankly it's just associated with major pain.

BabyBunnyBolat · 17/04/2009 18:13

Dh has just got home, I should go and get dinner - be back later xxx

BabyBunnyBolat · 17/04/2009 18:14

Springy ((hugs)) xx what you need is sponges!! one on each boob with a bit of plastic behind them et voila dry top xx dont worry about the crying either i cried with dd's HP test and her first injections, dh had to take her to have the rest i was such a state lol xx

Oh puzzle very good story - how you feeling? Bless your DH and DD!!

LuLuBai · 17/04/2009 20:09

Hello

Just finally managed to get access to t'internet again. Am worst buddy in world. See that Puzzle is around and about so no doubt informed all about her new arrival herself.

Many many congrats to Puzzle and Hollyu and to everyone else who has popped.

We finally have a computer again so will try and skip through and see how everyone else is getting on.

xx

BoffinMum · 17/04/2009 20:17

Soon2be, if reflexology worked so dramatically every ante-natal ward in the UK would be using it instead of syntocinon. Have it when you like, it won't bring a baby on that isn't ready. I know. DS2 was 18 days late despite my reflexology efforts ... but he did turn from breech which has to be a good thing.

conkertree · 17/04/2009 20:34

dont want to jinx it - but having some mildly painful tightenings. nothing too exciting just yet but at least its something new .

conkertree · 17/04/2009 20:35

wow boffin 18 days? did you then start labour naturally or were you induced?
