Sleep sleep sleep, any moment you can at this stage

BoffinMum · 17/04/2009 15:06

Hi Nutts, as you ask, I think the antibiotics might just be working, plus DH did baby duty last night for me, as I had managed to pump two feeds, which meant I got a bit more rest and I am sure that must have helped a bit too.

About the pool, let's think it through a bit. Things that come to mind:

  1. Could you clamber over the edge to get in and out with some help?
  2. Would it be reasonable for them to provide a hoist to ensure disabled access equality, or would that mean allowing a disabled person in a pool that they could not get out of in an emergency, leading to increased medical risk? Or could it be argued that in an emergency you have already proved you can function sufficiently well to get out if necessary?
  3. Would you be prepared to attempt foregoing an epidural intially in order to be able to use the pool later? (I have a feeling the two things might be mutually exclusive, but I may be wrong).
  4. Would DH be prepared to get in the pool with you in order to assist?
  5. From your hydro experience, do you have any instinct water birth might be better for your back and hips in labour, even if it means some pain afterwards? (Which they could give you heavy duty meds for if necessary, I imagine).

Also Nutty I haven't forgotten about the pain team brochure, but I realise now there's pages and pages of it and I haven't been near a meaty enough photocopier. But I'll get onto it as soon as I have a chance.

BoffinMum · 17/04/2009 15:12

BB he really should feed every 3 hours if poss in the daytime. But it's probably not the end of the world if he doesn't tbh.

conkertree · 17/04/2009 15:17

wow suddenly the thread has picked up again - great name puzzle.

mmm more easter eggs - might need to open another without ds spotting me.

this reflexology talk is very enticing - might have to look online and see if there is anything like that round here.

Bleuravin · 17/04/2009 15:19

thanks for advice boffin... we're off in a minute and of course she's fussing up a storm... should be interesting

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/04/2009 15:21

I would let him sleep, but then thats because I don't really like a routine at this stage so depends on what route you are going down. If you are happy to demand feed and have no routine and just go with the flow then I would leave him to sleep. But I know some people beieve in feeding at set times so they might wake him. I never woke DD up for a feed and she turned out ok! lol. At the end of the day - if it were night time, you wouldn't feed every 3 hours if baby was happy to sleep and babies don't know the differnece between day and night at this stage.

BoffinMum · 17/04/2009 15:25

Fair enough, Soon2be, but I should add that my mw put it in an interesting way. She said that they are programmed to take a certain amount of milk in 24 hours, and the more they get during adult waking hours, the more sleep the adults might just get at night, tipping the babies favourably into more of a daytime existence rather than a nocturnal one (which is the natural state they start off in). I think there's some sense in that.

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/04/2009 15:30

I am defo going to book the reflexology if she can fit me in before I go into labour, at a time when I have childcare for DD.

I have just eaten one of DDs easter eggs! Is that really bad? At the end of the day - she got about 10 and is only 15 months! We don't give her much at a time so that will last months if she has them on her own! That was MIL showing off buying her a whole bag full, because we didn't bother buying any!

Getting nervous about my dental work. I REALLY want it done on 29th - so it can be over and done with and then toothache will stop BUT they will only do it if baby has been born (I am being sedated) and I need to cancel 5 days in advance if baby isn't born. The next appointment is june/july and I don't want to be in pain until then!

soon2befamilyof4 · 17/04/2009 15:32

boffinmum - that might explain why DD still doesn't sleep through at 15 months! Maybe I am not the best person to give advice about sleep . LOL

BoffinMum · 17/04/2009 15:34

Soon2be, it is fine to have dental treatment in pg. I have had two lots of root canal treatment fgs. You shouldn't have to be in pain.
