Any news on Brett or Puzzle?

gingersarah · 16/04/2009 11:54

Bleu - just one other thought, although please ignore if this is annoying coming from someone who knows nothing - a friend of mine with her first baby kept hearing again and again that if feeding hurt the latch wasn't right and it was so painful and she was incredibly stressed. In the end she just accepted that it would hurt and hoped that it would eventually stop hurting, and it did. I know that doesn't help the pain but it really helped her to stop trying to "fix" something that was really ok and people saying it "shouldn't" hurt weren't helping.

So yes feel free to ignore if insensitive and / or useless, but just in case it helps.

good luck!

soon2befamilyof4 · 16/04/2009 11:55

I am still here. All signs that baby is remotely near arriving have completly gone so think I will still be here on my due date after all.

Bit worried that this baby isn't actually a girl. They told me she was a girl at my 20 week scan but I was never really sure. The woman didn't sound very confident and didn't show us the girl parts like they did with DD. This pregnancy has been completly different to DDs and I am not 100% boy shaped. Looks like a football under my t-shirt. Strangers keep saying it is a boy and even the MW the other day thought it was and looked a bit unsure when I said no its a girl.

My Dad has now agreed he will definatly look after DD at night if I go into labour as long as he isn't on standby - the only tiime he is on standby, my sister is around anyway who is first choice anyway. So that is night times off my mind. DD loves my Dad and although she is an awful sleeper, he is very patient with her and if she was up till 11pm he would just be happy to spend time with her!

WhatFreshEggIsThis · 16/04/2009 12:07

Bleu I'm sorry to hear you're still having trouble - if it's any consolation bf still hurts with Orbit even though he's my second and I know his latch is good. I did find with DS1 that it did just hurt for the first few weeks, but it got less and less painful and soon it didn't hurt at all.

I know that's probably not what you want to hear!

Are you using Lansinoh on your nipples to help with the soreness?

Another good resource is La Leche League, google them and they should pop up pretty quick.

Hope it improves for you soon

xxx

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 16/04/2009 12:16

Conker ((hugs)) for the pelvic pain xx

WFH - glad your DS is having a great birthday so far!! Happy Birthday!!

Swali - yeah take her to playgroup!!!

Purlease - CONGRATULATIONS!! welcome to baby Adam

Bleu - please dont be too hard on yourself Mummyhood i'snt easy and a lot of it is trial and error and it is frustrating, do speak to your Health Visitor and MW to get some help and advice xx if not re BF i hear TickTock is fab on the BF threads xx

Suprise - do you want my number so you can update us incase MM isn't around? hopefully things will start moving soon xx

BB - at having facial burpies welcome to motherhood!!! next on the list is being covered in milky vomit (handy hint: from now on do not get up to see to your child in the nude!! )

Soon2Be - glad you have your childcare sorted now

well just back from physio, was pulled about quite a bit so in alot of pain but ya'know what I DONT CARE cos i'm having my baby in 5 sleeps time!!! YAY i have 20cm's leg/hip movement apparently so only just enough to labour normally but i will have my epidural so i'm not at all worried , physio has written in red pen all over my birth plan and notes on how to handle me (or not) during labour for the MW's as not to damage me any further so today was useful despite being yanked a bit!!!

Swaliswan · 16/04/2009 12:18

When you are counting baby movements, does a bout of hiccups count as one movement or does each hiccup count as a movement?

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 16/04/2009 12:19

Swali - i would probably count it as one movement, not sure though really

Swaliswan · 16/04/2009 12:22

I really can't be bothered to phone the day unit and find out as they are uber-cautious and I would rather have a nap than be hooked up to a CTG for the afternoon!

Swaliswan · 16/04/2009 12:23

I am such a selfish mummy

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 16/04/2009 12:25

Swaliswal - a nap would do it for me every time!! not selfish at all

OP posts:
soon2befamilyof4 · 16/04/2009 12:48

swalis - I am exactly the same. I know I should have gone in to get my waters checked after leaks but really don't want to go. The silly thing is, the main reason I don't want to go is finding chilcare for my DD - I know my sister would have her, but that will mean she won't then be able to look after her for a couple of hours while I get some housework sorted. She is down from Uni till the weekend and said she will have DD for a fw hours before she goes if I am not in labour but she has loads of coursework to do so I wouldn't want to ask her more than once to do it and I am DESPERATE from some DD free time to get the house worted. I know everybody says sod the housework but it is getting really bad. . Now DD doesn't sleep in the day - I just don't get a chance to get things done. I know that is bad as reading what Puzzle wrote - it really should have been checked. They have stopped leaking now though and baby is moving fine. If they leak more I will go in but at the moment I just can't face it!

B52s · 16/04/2009 12:57

I went in far too early with DS1 after my waters broke. Sat around the hospital for 8 hours before anything started happening and I wasn't allowed home. DS1 at CM today so am having a lovely child free day, waiting for DS2 to arrive (although technically I've 5 days to go but here's to hopeful thinking...). Someone has to go early after all don't they???

HiP payment not in my bank account yet

Few twinges and achey bits today.

LaurenIsMoreThanReadyToPop61 · 16/04/2009 13:08

hey again everyone, im sick of myself now, im so touchy and getting annoyed over every stupid thing im driving myself mad, not texting anyone back, even muted house phone yesterday im sick of messages saying "any baby yet" as if im not going to tell anyone when hes here, im fed up of waiting stop bloody rubbing it in

rant sorry just feel shiiit

purplemonkeydishwasher · 16/04/2009 13:12

oh lauren

totally normal. you start to feel like people think it's your fault that you are still pregnant. or they try to make light of it when you are fed up and more uncomfortable than you ever thought possible.

rant as much as you need to. we're all there with you. (well, those of us who are still fat and fed up!! )

LaurenIsMoreThanReadyToPop61 · 16/04/2009 13:26

im all teary now i cant be pregnant anymore it makes me hate everyone i sound like a selfish spoilt little girl i know im sorry just rang labour ward cos keep getting these damp pads got to sit with legs up for a few hours then see if its wet or trickling but i just dont know, feel so stupid! thank you purple i know im probably not the only one that feels like this we're all in same boat, just feel alone like worlds against me, sounds drastic dont it lol

Schulte · 16/04/2009 13:30

Lauren totally normal - I didn't even want to speak to my mum last time round, and refused to let PIL take me out for lunch, and didn't answer phone or email. Don't worry it will soon be over. WILL! Promised. x

Off to antenatal appointment - I wish they had more interesting stuff to say than just check bp and heart rate.

B52s · 16/04/2009 13:31

Lauren, I can guarentee (sp?!?) I'll be feeling the same as you in a few days time if I've not popped by then. Its such a waiting game and takes ages to get anywhere - you feel like it's still your fault you haven't popped yet and people asking stupid questions doesn't help. At all. You don't sound stupid or spoilt, just fed up and hormonal - which I think is totally reasonable.

B52s · 16/04/2009 13:34

Schulte - I'm worried mine will say 'your glucose is too high / iron too low' for the HB. Just a bp check and heart rate would be fine with me. My next antenatal is on 21st (my due date).

LaurenIsMoreThanReadyToPop61 · 16/04/2009 13:37

love havin you guys that actually understand, what do people without MN do?!?

tell you what i hate with a passion right now!! ..."hows the bump" i dont freckin know i havent met 'the bump' yet just like you, its not a bump its a baby 'the bump' is painful uncomfy and annoying... the baby, how do i know when hes still in the bump?!?!
touchy isnt the word!!

god if my hormones dont sort themselves out when hes here im going to go into self destruction

B52s · 16/04/2009 13:40

I must be a little irrational too today. I've shouted at the budgie for chirping too loudly and sent the dog out into the rain for making farts that smell like dog food. I mean what else are they supposed to smell like?

Don't know how I coped without MN the first time round.

B52s · 16/04/2009 13:41

Felt bad about the dog so let him in and now he smells of wet dog.

mathshoneybunny27 · 16/04/2009 13:43

well hello everyone...
just a quick one to say hope everyone's doing well and hanging on in there, I see I have sme catching up to do
I had a great birth, will post story soon, but had second prostin at 4.30pm, ate dinner at 6pm having ctx every 3 mins or so, at 7pm midwife didn;t believe I was in labour as I was so calm..so I stuck my bum in the air and cried until they moved me onto labour ward. DH's face was so funny as the MW left and I went straight back to normal, he was so worried..
They still wouldn't let me in the pool, but luckily fab MW and I compromised by kneeling in deep bath and pouring hot water down my back..it was bliss. Had G&A in bath for a while, got out about 9.30pm and MW said she would break my waters. By the time she had a look they had gone (must have gone in bath I guess!) and she could see the head..ten minutes later, some giant pushes, and she was out! So pleased

Am home and BFing, despite earlier qualms Amelia is latching on beautifully. will keep lurking and put pics up soon. Love to all xxx

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 16/04/2009 13:57

Lauren - ((hugs)) chickaboo it will end it has to!! and if its any consolation i have been exactly the same for a few months!!

MM - fab to hear from you!! sounds like you had a fab birth cant wait for the full story and pics take care xxx

B52s · 16/04/2009 14:06

MM - massive congratulations on Amelia.

OddEyes · 16/04/2009 14:18

hey all! just running in to say a quick hello! ds and dd are in bed as am i and should sleep but wanted to come check in with you all. Congratulations to all the new mummys - well done. Will have to come back this evening too to see if there are anymore.
We are surviving, Ellie is generally very good but am just finding the whole balancing act with 2 challenging now that dh is back at work (he will take his second week of pat leave next month, and just while thinking of it can i remind you all that the time when you are in hospital should be counted at compassionate leave not paternity leave - gives you more time together).
Have half written birth story will probably post this eve.
Right must go to sleep....zzzz
