I sent MM all your congrats and had this message back...'thanks so much, had perfect and very short birth and home tomorrow am. Love to all the April gang'

That's brill for you nutty, the PE not so good, if your bloods are positive expect to be admitted and induced well before then!

Bronze - I'll still be here for a good while yet!

WhatFreshEggIsThis · 14/04/2009 19:19

Congratulations Auld, now that's a birth story I could be very of! Well done you.

Springy, on the wind front, Orbit isn't too bad in the mornings, but as the day goes on he gets quite uncomfortable - he'll scream and arch himself and strain really hard to poo or fart. He also bobs on and off the breast when he's windy, and if some wind gets trapped under a feed then he brings up the whole lot. I think some wind after each feed and bringing up a little is pretty much par for the course, but I'm concerned that he seems to be in so much pain when he's trying to poo, so I'm going to see if the osteopath can help. If not, might give infacol a go.

Nutty hooray for induction date! Must be so good to have an end date in sight

HV came today and seems to think we're relatively normal (Ha!). Also realised it's DS1's birthday on Thurs and we have not organised anything yet, ooops....

Finally, I can now tense my stomach muscles for the first time in months! It only makes the jelly belly pull in slightly, but it's definitely progress. And I can see over it now, I can almost look at my scar without a mirror. This is not necessarily a good thing.

PuzzleRocks · 14/04/2009 19:29

Good evening everyone

I got completely panicked that this baby was going to arrive into a dirty house with an empty kitchen. And so I have spent the whole day cleaning, doing laundry, and cooking and now i'm so knackered that if she does come, I won't have the energy to labour. .
I have had a constant trickle all day but it doesn't amount to much. Fingers crossed that things kick off soon. Thanks for the replies and advice BB and Boff, it's so reassuring to be able to ask you stuff. I would be quite lost without my April ladies.

Purple - Do you have any small animals like guinea pigs? Those wierd boob things would make perfect marquees for the discerning pet.

Kaz - Sounds like the twins are doing fabulously. Good to hear from you.

WFH - I hope the cranial osteopath helps Orbit, bless him.

BB - A little bleeding at first is quite normal but DD's belly button was still very raw after some time. My GP used a silver nitrate pen to seal it properly. It was painless and quick but their skin does look a wee bit charred for a few days.

Nutty - I don't like the sound of purple puffiness. Please kick some induction arse tomorrow.

Bronze - I wish I was a quail right now.

PuzzleRocks · 14/04/2009 19:30

Soon2be - What a coincidence. Did you speak to your midwife about it earlier?

PuzzleRocks · 14/04/2009 19:32

Hooray Auld. Many many congratulations, he does indeed sound beautiful. I can't wait to read your birth story.

PuzzleRocks · 14/04/2009 19:39

Lauren - You poor thing. Have you managed to catch up on some rest today? How are things now?

Trista - How did the viewing go?

Kitty - Sounds promising. Fingers crossed for you.

Juwesm · 14/04/2009 19:39

Howdy all. Well, still merrily contracting away. Things moved rather quickly this morning and by about eleven I was mooing like a beast, desperately trying to get through with gas and air, frightening the life out of DH. Horrible, felt so out of it, like it wasn't me in the room. Can't really remember it all too clearly. So had lovely epidural, multiple top-ups, and nice a anaesthetist came a few hours ago and ramped it up, as I had a phase of really painful close together CTX and had to hit the g&a again. Am now basically pain free, have urinary catheter, am having the least active labour ever, and hoping to be fully dilated by around 8 or 9pm!

Would have updated a bit more, but signal is crap!

surprisenumber3 · 14/04/2009 19:43

Hi Juw - good luck, hope it's not too long now xx

PuzzleRocks · 14/04/2009 19:53

Nuts - I am so bloody pleased for you.
The end is in sight. I hope the next week goes really quickly.
Fingers crossed you don't have PE though.

Ginger - It's the little things. These days I get excited if I manage to cut my toenails.

Ju - I hope it's not too much longer for you. Pain free sounds good though.

gingersarah · 14/04/2009 20:05

Nutty - I missed a whole page with your fab news! Brilliant! Not about PE although even if that is the case they will soon have you all sorted out.

Juw - good luck and godspeed

Schulte · 14/04/2009 20:05

Yay Nutty for induction but for poss PE. But see, I told you you'd pop before me!

Schulte · 14/04/2009 20:17

Juw - PUSH!

WhatFreshEggIsThis · 14/04/2009 20:31

Just filling in the Child Benefit form.....

"Has the child you are claiming for ever been known by any other name?"

Erm, does Orbit Buttonhole count?

PuzzleRocks · 14/04/2009 20:49
Grin
Schulte · 14/04/2009 20:49

Just had allegedly super hot curry but it wasn't as hot as I expected. I bet all it will do is give me a belly ache. And I don't believe in this induction stuff anyway. BUT wanted to know what you make of this... when I had those contractions last night they made my boobs leak big time. I haven't really had any leakages so far in this pregnancy so was wondering what was going on! Do you think I just had a surge of hormones of some sort?

WhatFreshEggIsThis · 14/04/2009 20:53

The only home induction method I found that had any effect was nipple stimulation - but you have to do it for a LONG time, like an hour.

Get twiddling!

Schulte · 14/04/2009 20:55

Can't be bothered - will watch Lawrence of Arabia instead

kazkiss · 14/04/2009 20:56

go ju, go ju, push.,push push.......

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 14/04/2009 20:57

Oooh Schulte that sounds very exciting! I haven't had ANY leakage either, so am v glad to hear it does come out eventually...
Good luck with your squeezings!

We've just come back from a waddle to Tesco Express and stocked up on sausage rolls and quiche for the MW's... just in case... we DIDN'T buy any bubbles though - cos I don't want to jinx these contractions away!

We've called the delivery suite and let them know that we're having them every 10 mins lasting 2 mins or so, they wanted me to come in "to get the baby checked" but as we had a full check-up with my community MW at 14h00 today I said thanks, but no thanks... not taking ANY chances on missing out on my precious home birth...

soon2befamilyof4 · 14/04/2009 21:08

Puzzle - I mentioned to midwife very breifly, I didn't want to make a big deal of it incase she said no birthing centre. This is my community MW who is a bit useless and without knowing any more than me saying I was leaking fluids she said "oh its probably just discharge or if baby pressed on your bladder it could have been wee". She didn't know enough to say that though TBH. I am sure it wasn't discharge or wee.

If I go and tell the hospital that I have been leaking waters - would they induce me? Basically, I don't want to give up my waterbirth in the MLU UNLESS it meant I could be induced this week (Saving all this stress over childcare, money/work and dental appointments)? If I could be induced this week I would jump at the chance? But don't want to give up my birthing centre plan for nothing.

MIL seems to have it in her head that she is looking after DD when I am in labour but I have said to DH and my mum that she is only to have her if we are REALLY desperate for childcare. I really, really don't want her to have her and I think I had a mino panic attack over it this morning .

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 14/04/2009 21:13

I'm going to bed to try get some sleep... i'll keep posting if anything happens in the night!

Marthasmama · 14/04/2009 21:38

Go Juw, go Juw! I find it difficult to believe that Juw's DH was disturbed, he's too laid back! Don't push unless you're ready though, don't want to ahem, tear!

SpringySponge · 14/04/2009 23:07

OH YAY, NUTTY! I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU! There aren't enough s in the world! I'm so, so pleased for you! Tuesday! Just one more week! One week & it's all over & you have a baby! Not so great about the PE, but an induction date! YAY! Something to actually focus on! & seriously, woman - you don't moan! I don't know how you manage not to, but you really don't!

at Orbit Buttonhole being legally declared!

Ju's probably got her baby by now! Yay!

More birth stories on their way soon

thebluefoxategreensocks · 14/04/2009 23:26

Just stopping by to say hello! Seems this thread has really slowed down, as it's not full up yet! lol Maybe the active posters have their babies in their arms and don't have as much time for posting anymore! I know I sure am busy! My little man seems to think he's meant to feed the entire evening! Night 2 was 10pm to 2am(!!), with screaming if I had him let go of me! Last night (night 3) wasn't so bad, as he settled about 12:15am and slept till nearly 6am (but he did want lots of feeds before then). Well, tonight he's just been screaming at the top of his lungs, despite having been fed plenty. And my milk came in over night last night, so he's got a very abundant supply - as in, spilling out his mouth while he was drinking earlier! So can't see how he thinks he should always be hungry. Oh well. Just hope he settles soon!

Hope all those who are in labour now will soon have their little ones! Look forward to hearing more birth announcements!
