Thanks BB!! i would LOVE her to come tonight but i can't believe that this is it... it's just not sore enough! but it is pretty regular... i don't know, maybe i'll have a bath and a lie-down and see what that does.

SpringySponge · 14/04/2009 15:54

Mummyhood is fantastic during the day, not so much during the night. I really do have the most snuggly baby in the world, though - he lies with his head on my boobs & one arm around my arm & the other tucked up by his face in my cleavage & his legs pulled up, so he's clutching on like a little koala. He's doing it right now & just looking around at everything, all cuddly & quiet. I love him so much.

Ask me again in 12 hours & I'll just be pleading with him saying 'I don't know what's wrong with you, please stop crying!'

Kitty, that sounds possible - I'm very hopeful!

B52s · 14/04/2009 16:19

Checking in again for the first time in a week. One week to go for me. Wow - lots of babies - Congrats to Springy and Auld. With each day my stretchmarks are getting redder.

surprisenumber3 · 14/04/2009 16:29

Congrats Auld!

Can't wait to hear from Juw, and Kitty that does sound promising! This thread is addictive lately!

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 14/04/2009 16:37

mmm 'tis definitely getting a bit more sore now... kind of like an achy period-y pain all over the front of the bump. Only the odd twinge at the back... interesting...

surprisenumber3 · 14/04/2009 16:38

brill kitty, so excited for you...and just a tincy wincy bit jealous

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 14/04/2009 16:44

Surprise - I've had so many false alarms in the past week I'm not holding my breath!!! It has got to the stage that I'm in denial because I've got my hopes up so often and been miserable when nothing happened... so even though the MW reckons we're nearly there I'm going to stick my head in the sand and ignore her... a-la-Springy!

surprisenumber3 · 14/04/2009 16:47

ahh Kitty, I know what you mean, DH hardly flinches when I start holding my belly and going 'ow ow ow' because he is so used to it! But on the otherhand he also thinks I am so used to it now that I will leave it too long and she'll be born at home!

Do you know what made the MW think you're nearly there? I would love mine to say that. I am seeing her on Thursday and when I saw her last week she said she didn't think I'd be there for my appt this week but didn't actually say why she thought birth was imminent! Baby was 3/5 engaged but my friend was told that at 32 weeks.

surprisenumber3 · 14/04/2009 16:48

springy - aaawwwwwwwwwww about the little koala, has made me come over all emotional!

LaurenIsMoreThanReadyToPop61 · 14/04/2009 16:48

keep timing them kitty, if they get more painful, do a pain scale from 0-10 each time and see if they get worse thats what my mum(shes a nurse) told me to do yesterday, when i did that i realised they werent actually getting that much worse just closer together

conkertree · 14/04/2009 16:51

A car???? A Car Purple???????? Dont let dh hear you say that. Thats his pride and joy - a 1964 Series II Landrover. Dont get me started on how much he's spent on it in the last 7 years but after a few years off the road, its finally being rescued again tomorrow with a trip to the garage.

B52s - I'm with you on the stretch marks - thought they were ok this time, but just in the last few days they have reappeared from last time. Guess they will fade again in a few months [hopeful].

springy - I remember what it was like in those first few weeks - have been trying not to think about it before the baby arrives but i got so tired at times that I was hallucinating - but it does pass. Sooner rather than later hopefully. George has been carried around for 9 months in a lovely comfy mummy tummy so its easy to see why he still wants to be cuddled when he's sleeping.

ooh brushing off the pom poms for kitty - that sounds exciting - good luck. Hope its a smooth one.

LaurenIsMoreThanReadyToPop61 · 14/04/2009 16:52

my midwifes away for a week i wont see her til im 40+4 .. i missed last appt cos went into hospital for the leak.. do you think i should book in with a different MW? i wanted a sweep at 40wk if baby not here before, is that allowed..???

surprisenumber3 · 14/04/2009 16:53

my MW has said she will do a sweep on my due date if I want one.

LaurenIsMoreThanReadyToPop61 · 14/04/2009 16:54

might ring up another one from my area then, can anyone explain to me what a sweep actually does? i know it can start you off but how??

conkertree · 14/04/2009 17:20

in our area, the appointments are on Tuesdays and thats it - so I will be 40+5 before I get a sweep but we dont have a choice - guess it might be different in areas with mws around all the time. Worth asking I guess.

A sweep - they sweep their finger round to separate the membranes round the baby from the cervix and it releases prostaglandins which can start labour off - but think its another that it only works if you are pretty much ready to go yourself anyway.

LaurenIsMoreThanReadyToPop61 · 14/04/2009 17:21

thanks conker

conkertree · 14/04/2009 17:22

Wahhhhhhhhh! Still nothing! When you get fed up with me poking my nose in you can blame Juw! I've been out for three hours and expected something!

conkertree · 14/04/2009 17:31

yaaaaay nutty - so pleased. the end is in sight.

bronze · 14/04/2009 17:32

Nutty you traitor you're deserting me

(glad they're doing it for you really)

I can tell you that digging over the veg patch does NOT bring on labour it just makes you ache like buggery

BabyBunnyBolat · 14/04/2009 17:38

WOOOOOOOOHHHHHOOOOOOOOOO NUTTY poo for pe - if you have that will they do it early???

am so excited for you!!!!! yay yay yay!!!

kitty - any progress???

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 14/04/2009 17:44

Just got out the bath - they calmed down while I was in there, have just had another one that feels like a really tight band around my uterus squeezing tight. Still not overly sore though!!! They're around 10-13 mins apart - should I bother calling the MW to come over or should I just wait until they're painful?

maybe this labour thing is not so bad after all??? >

gingersarah · 14/04/2009 17:44

Congratulations, Auld! What a great story.
I won't be letting DP read it as I keep reassuring him that having babies takes ages, is nothing like in films where they appear half an hour after the woman theatrically grabs her belly, and there is no way there is any chance of it being born unattended / in the wrong place / with him not there.

Today I have achieved... a haircut. doesn't sound like much but I feel great for it.

Trista, great news on the flat!

Anyone have any tips for booking a one-off deep clean? DP is busy and tired, I am useless and it might be time to throw money at the problem. Any recommendations or potential pitfalls?

You new mums sound such naturals!
