Wow congratulations Auld! Looking forward to unbelievable birth story

Well DD has just fallen asleep so I'd better lie down as well while I get a chance... talk later.

Fence builders by the way are most unattractive

Lovely birth story Auld -

chickaleggjac · 14/04/2009 13:27

Auld - congratulations, well done, what a speedy birth. Fantastic birth story, although told DP how quick it all happened and he's now sitting with wide eyes staring into space ha ha. Well done though, glad it all went well.

MM - Congratulations to you too! Well done cant wait for details.

I'm still here, no baby yet. Have a viewing on that flat I was telling you about at 2, so fingers crossed. It isn't available yet it'll be up to a month from now but that's actually perfect for me, it'll give me time to save a bit more money, time to get my head around organising it, and most of all time to have the baby!

Also sneaked into self test room at doc's today and my BP is lowest it's been in weeks. Woohoo! Looking good for MLU birth.
It's a good day so far.

Good luck Juw! Hope it's all going smoothly for you, cant wait to hear how you are getting on xxx

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 14/04/2009 13:35

Auld - that birth story is amazing!!!! well done you!!!

AuldAlliance · 14/04/2009 13:35

Thanks!

The hospital pyschologist came to see me this morning and said that often when it happens so fast the mothers have trouble coming to terms with reality, as they have little time to realise they are giving birth. It was very, very sudden, and I'm aware I may come down with a bump, but just now I am on such a high!

Afraid I can't fill you in on the acupuncture I was due to have on Sun to help bring on labour, but the needles she stuck in my toes on arrival may have helped for the placenta; at least, it came out intact in next to no time. And I had needles put in my head, tummy and lower back on Sat evening to help the piles I got from pushing, and am amazed to report that that also seemed to have an effect.

The issue of smuggling illegal snacks into a French hospital didn't arise, obviously, so can't report on that either.

Timing was absolutely perfect: my Mum arrived the evening before, and FIL and his partner were due to leave on Sat at noon, so were a bit sad to see me leave the house at 7:45 as they were sure they'd miss everything. At 11, they came to visit! And it was a very good thing it was the weekend, as had it happened midweek DH would never have had time to drive back from work before it was all over.

chickaleggjac · 14/04/2009 13:44

Auld - that's fantastic, it all came together in such a lovely way. I love when life lets things run smoothly for once. Quite right you're on a high, sounds perfect.

chickaleggjac · 14/04/2009 13:44

Right I'm off to view this flat, wish me luck!

AuldAlliance · 14/04/2009 13:51

Good luck!!!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 14/04/2009 13:55

Auld - wow wow wow wow
trying not to cry. that birth story is amazing!!

trista - good luck with the flat!!

conkertree · 14/04/2009 14:00

great story Auld. lol at the needles being the bit you cried out in pain at.

mw today was fine but nothing much to report so guess i am resigned to another few weeks of hanging about.

ah well, friend and her dd coming this afternoon so that'll be a nice change.

Oh and another viewer on Friday for our house so another excuse to get the toilet cleaner out (its been out today already for the friend coming depsite having been out about two days ago - it really is the nicest smell just now)

Schulte · 14/04/2009 14:11

Hmmmm

Think I may have had too many chocolate eggs, feeling a bit yucky.

God I really hope my birth isn't so fast... it will take PIL 4 hours to get here, at the very least Auld I love how it all came together for you!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 14/04/2009 14:18

schulte - i hear you! (and yet i still keep eating them.....)

hey conker - so if we are in the hospital at the same time... i'll probably be the only canadian so you'll know me. but how will I know you?

conkertree · 14/04/2009 14:23

purple - i think there are still pictures on my profile - keep meaning to remove them but forget a lot.

i will be the one looking like a beached whale if last time is anything to go by - was sooo puffy. But then was a bit puffy before the 3 hour push too so maybe this time will get away with it a bit more.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 14/04/2009 14:25

LOL - ok. you'll be the one that looks like a car!

SpringySponge · 14/04/2009 15:28

conker, I was indeed up at 3.18 because he was feeding. He took ages to settle last night, so I let DH stay in bed whilst I gave up & got up with him. It works out okay because now all I have to do is feed all day as well - DH has enough energy to run around after me & change nappies & stuff. Doesn't mean that it's not a little irritating seeing him fast asleep whilst I'm dealing with a whingy baby, though

The DVDs are a good idea. I'll have to find something to get into as well. We're finding that George simply won't sleep unless he's being cuddled - & chooses the most impossible positions to be comfortable in, so we have to move after a while & then he wakes up & won't settle again. He's not so difficult to deal with if I'm lying on the sofa, it seems - it's easier to prop myself up. So I could definitely make use of some DVDs to watch that I could drift in & out of a bit.

purple, your DH really has been helpful! I find the image of your DS with his little tool box so cute I hope he feels better soon. Ooh, lucky you with two of those things! You are spoilt!

& Ooooh! Yay for MM! I wonder how many compliments her cervix got

As if Ju forgot her mobile! She'd better be speeding straight back on to Patientline

Hey Kaz that's really good weight gain! Hope your first day alone's going smoothly.

BB, stop doing so much! Disguising the OJ stain was more than enough, never mind painting ceilings! You've just given birth - are you mad? & do you really think anyone's judging the state of your home at the moment?

WFH, how windy / sick is Orbit? I'm just wondering what's excessive... George is quite windy & a little sick after most feeds. I think that's okay, but don't want to miss a potentially fixable problem.

frekkles, our finances are all about to change with baby-related benefits so I can't talk specifics. What we do (after much previous inconvenience) is have a joint bank account which we both pay into proportional to our individual incomes, from which the bills are direct debited. We make sure that there's always enough to cover the bills with a bit extra & don't ever spend from that account in any other way so we don't have to worry about it. & even when there's no money for any luxuries at all (like now), we're safe in the knowledge that life can continue with a roof over our heads & hot water, etc.

Oh Kali How frustrating. It really does have to be soon, though

Auld! Congratulations! Another 11th baby - the full moon really did work! Interesting about the acupuncture for piles - I may have to look into that

Lauren, sorry to hear you still have no baby - sounds like progress, though!

I hope Nutty's getting her induction agreed... I can't take much more of her moaning

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 14/04/2009 15:36

is it possible to be having contractions - but they're not that sore? my current timings are -

3:23:42 PM 3:25:06 PM 1:24 8 m, 20 s
3:15:21 PM 3:16:33 PM 1:11 12 m, 44 s
3:02:37 PM 3:03:39 PM 1:1 8 m, 36 s
2:54:02 PM 2:55:02 PM 0:59 7 m, 9 s
2:46:53 PM 2:47:39 PM 0:46 ----

so pretty regular, i had my 39 week appt today and the mw reckons it'll be any day now (she thinks tonight - by the weekend at the very latest) BUT the squeezings i have are really not that painful at all! more take-the-breath-away than ow-ow-ow...
