xxx

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 08/04/2009 14:10

Boff - really gorgeous, well done you!!!! He's too cute! Love the lacy hat...

Juw you nutter! My eyes hurt from looking at the end of the other thread. I don't actually like those bunnies especially as DD made me draw about a billion of them yesterday

BabyBunnyBolat · 08/04/2009 14:35

Oooh Boff - good birth story and OMG am running round like a crazy bunny for potential loss of SPD - that would be AMAZING!!!

Felix is adorable! Well done you - I just have to say I think you have done amazingly to get through labour with SPD!! I was a wimp enough fully functioning! So glad you got your HB and everything is working out OK! Please take it easy though! How is DH doing?

surprisenumber3 · 08/04/2009 14:44

Ah Boff he's gorgeous, so pleased for you

Hope everything is okay with you chicka, look forward to an update.

Can't wait to hear from MM, hope things are progressing!

My MW said I was 3/5 engaged today and that she couldn't move the head at all so felt quite pleased with myself until I just went to visit a friend and she has been completely engaged since 32 weeks

surprisenumber3 · 08/04/2009 14:44

so I came back and ate lots of cadburys cream eggs and now I feel sick

BabyBunnyBolat · 08/04/2009 14:50

Purple - really sorry to go on about this but your tip really was fab - we're not 100% there yet but feel like a different person already after just 2 feeds - it was going fine before with a few tough feeds but feeding this way is no-where near as stressful if the boob is tight as latching is so much easier for him! This is why I love MN - think I would go insane without it! Thanks again!

So seems I have a chubba of a baby - they warned us that babies lose a bit of weight in the first week so not to worry if he dropped a bit but chubba chups has put on weight! He is still only 6.6 but hey all going in the right direction! He didn't have his bloods in the end as he is not quite 5 days old yet (stupid mw that booked it got it wrong!!!) so back on Friday for that and off to register him tomorrow so really no going back on the name now -

Right am off to entertain the grandparents now - speak later!!!

PuzzleRocks · 08/04/2009 14:55

Hi Boff, lovely to hear from you. 7 pushes and 5 minutes! I'll have some of that please. I wonder if there is any symbolism attached to a knotted cord.

PuzzleRocks · 08/04/2009 14:57

Aww what a darling. When was the first pic taken? You look most serene.

Schulte · 08/04/2009 15:04

Boff congratulations, what a cutie. Enjoy!

BB my DD never lost weight either after the birth and she's still a bit chubby two years on

Bronze how exciting, go girl!

Trista, good luck at the hospital and don't let them force you into anything you don't want.

Off to town to buy a few bits and pieces since MIL and DD are playing happily. Hooray!

AuldAlliance · 08/04/2009 15:38

Congratulations, Bumpalump.

Nice chapter, Boff, glad it all went so well in the end and that the SPD seems to be abating.

BB, glad the skin-to-skin is helping, and I hope you find some answers too soon, Bleu.

DS has raging conjunctivitis, is off school for the week due to his infectiousness, and I have had 2 very disturbed nights with him, esp. last night when he had a terrible temperature. Thank God FIL and (more importantly) his lovely DP are here and can help out. But I have little time to post, though have managed to catch up.

WRT the fanjo physio, haven't read the article and can't really face the DM right now, but it is not, IME, touted as a means of pleasing your DH through recuperating your firmness or whatever asap. It is meant to help prevent incontinence and similar problems, so that you can sneeze without panicking. My last gynae "didn't believe in it", said I looked athletic and should do pelvic floor exercises at home, and I regret it TBH, seing how much weaker my perineum seems to be this time around. I think it consists in going through the exercises with a MW or physio and some electronically stimulated toning, and I'm damn well going to demand my sessions this time around. So I'll let you know what it involves and whether anyone suggests it's for DH's benefit, in a few weeks/months.

JuwEggsm · 08/04/2009 15:41

I've been doing a bit of weeding in the garden, in the hope that overdoing it might move things along a little bit. I have 'pruned' the blackberry bush (patch of brambles I allow to stay because I love blackberries!), and generally ripped out lots of rubbishy stuff, plus a strange weedy thing with pink flowers which smells vaguely like coriander, which had taken over most of the garden. Unfortunately, this now just leaves lots of bare patches of earth for something else to colonise instead! Ho hum. It's revealed lots of juicy caterpillars for the birds to eat, and loosened lots of old dry grass and twiggy bits for them to use for nesting. Hope DH won't be too sad when he gets home to find lawn covered with ripped out weeds (too tired now to bag it up). Got stung by a couple of nettles (), but nothing too traumatic. Hope neighbours weren't watching too much. Apart from the 'what on earth is the med pregnant woman doing' aspect, I suspect I may have been revealing rather more flesh than I intended - wearing a knee-length maternity dress, and squatting!!

conkertree · 08/04/2009 15:56

great story and lovely pics Boff - love how in tune with your body you are - i seem to remember last time just going with it, but not consciously thinking - i should be in this position. I guess after 4 you know what you are doing .

good luck trista - hope things kick off properly very soon.

mil playing with ds - must be the day for mil providing entertainment so can get some kilt stuff done for a change.

what a lovely day

JuwEggsm · 08/04/2009 16:06

Hope for the overdue

gingersarah · 08/04/2009 16:39

Boffin, thanks for the great birth story and great news about the SDP! Onwards and upwards.

BB, I can't believe what a natural you are, you seem to take everything in your stride. very impressive!

(I have just bought lansinoh and nipple shields.)

Today I saw an inspiringly competent MW and found out that I should have had the home assessment for HB two weeks ago (which I asked about at my last appointment and was waved away) so someone should be in touch about that soon; and also got her on the case for a referral about the boob symptoms. She called her senior MW buddy at the hospital to get me on the list to see the obstetrician and get a referral through her, short-circuiting the GP completely. This was great but it all happened so worryingly fast... doctors jumping to it is not something you see a lot and makes me, well, hope for the best.
Anyway I will get a specialists' appointment soon - I am not sure how all this is manageable practically when you are about to give birth.

So the best case scenario is that the GP pointlessly delayed checking out serious symptoms which could have been done much more conveniently weeks before my due date (but everything will ultimately be fine); the worst case scenario is that something is wrong and has been progressing for many weeks. I am GGGGGGGRRRRR with the GP. (but very happy with the MW.)

minush · 08/04/2009 16:51

Ahhhhhhhhhhh it was a Daily Mail article that lambasted French fanjo physio..............Don't think I'll bother reading it . No-one I know (well enough to ask) here has had it.

Along with Auld I'll DEMAND it and then report back on emphasis and efficacy - in gory detail

bronze · 08/04/2009 17:03

The thing with the article was that it was written by a woman who was slagging off the english system and saying the french one was great. Personally I would be insulted if anyone implied that I should get back to fanjo fitness for my husband and as soon as possible. I want to get myself sorted for me and if I had the kind of husband who buggered off because he couldnt wait a bit then I would be better of without him. I'm not against help to get me back to how I was but I'm sure there are better things money could be spent on for the average woman after birth.
I normally hate the mail too

AuldAlliance · 08/04/2009 17:07

Blimey, read that article while DS was playing with FIL.
The DM really is a stunning example of balanced and well-written journalism, isn't it? [barf]
FWIW I was advised to wait 6 wks before sex, until I'd had my postnatal gynae check-up. No one suggested that I was penalising my husband and risking my marriage. And I do not have the impression that all my French friends are plotting how to keep their husbands because they know that there are hordes of women just waiting to leap on any man should his wife not be up for it for a few weeks after bearing his child.
Maybe I should go on a trip to Béziers, sounds like an interesting anthropological experience...

minush · 08/04/2009 17:14

I didn't know anything about it till I saw a sign at the hospital a couple of weeks ago. I still don't know much about it. There is no doubt that there is sexism in the French medical profession and it is possible that the journalist had a misogynist doctor. Certainly friends have encountered A LOT of pressure to not put on more than 12 kilos during the pregnancy . My family doctor did recommend the hospital I'm attending on the grounds that 'it is where doctor's wives go'. I was very and even attempted a put down/ joke in French.
I shall investigate further, and possibly even read the article!
