Ah - I am washed and dressed by 7:30 every morning as these builders have a habit of turning up around then (still bits of tinkering to do around the house) and after getting caught out in an extremely transparent nightie the other day I figure it's worth the effort.

Bit concerned about the hygiene factor of my jeans though. There is now only one pair I can get into and I'm scared that if I wash them they will be too tight to hoist myself into and then what?

LuLuBunny · 08/04/2009 12:52

So Juw - 1 week past due date now. Are they torturing you yet with daily mw appointments / sweeps / threats of nasty painful induction etc?

Carameli · 08/04/2009 12:59

I am so jealous of all you lot talkng about lounging in pj's etc etc. I have had to be washed and dressed by 7ish up until last Fri to get dd to school and ds is not always cooperative in the morning, oh the joys of 2yr old boys

SpringySponge · 08/04/2009 13:01

Kali, no wonder you're frustrated You're overdue & have no easy access to Creme Eggs - I don't know how you're coping! xx Totally with you on the struggling to maintain any sort of grooming - I'm a total state.

Ju, my name was already Eastery! It's Springy!

Nice to see you, DungunGirl Especially with your positivity - we need more of that & I think everyone's struggling now!

Bleu, glad that you've managed to improve one boob - fingers crossed for the other one sorting out soon! xx

JuwEggsm · 08/04/2009 13:06

Lulu - had a sweep yesterday, and another booked for Saturday if no joy by then. Have had induction booked for Tues, but I am rather about that. If I have the energy and resolve I may refuse that and go for regular monitoring instead. Fortunately no daily appointments yet, though I suspect If I do refuse induction they will want them, and will get quite eggy about the HB. We'll have to wait and see to find out how bothered I really am about everything. I'm not sure if I don't get induced but go over 42 weeks whether I can go to the MLU as a compromise, or whether that puts me into a high-risk category that means they won't take me!

JuwEggsm · 08/04/2009 13:07

Also, it appears that not all of my plug was stolen!

Off to do a bit more vigorous scrubbing....

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 08/04/2009 13:20

LuLu - fab name!! Boing

Grooming??? Hair Brushing??? DRESSING?? what is this stuff??

Hi everyone - apologies, I haven't done any catching up.
Started having contractions last night at around 9pm, not too regular, anywhere between 5 and 20 mins apart. Bearable. Went for a shower at 12.30am and after my shower, while brushing my teeth, looked down to find a trickle of fluid coming out onto bath mat. So I think my waters have partly gone, although no more since. After that, I had sudden need for clearout (bowels), and just a few measly contractions. I managed to get a night of sleep, with a few gaps during the night for pee, contractions every now and then, mind going a bit overboard.
Got up this morning to find no more waters gone and a few randomly spaced contractions. At 10.30 I phoned MW at lovely MLU just to say I thought my waters may have gone. She told me to put on pad and come in at 3pm. I said that I haven't felt any further fluid. She says that when I go in, they'll check pad, do a speculum exam and see if waters have gone.
This is the bit that has had me shed many tears today: She then very bluntly said if waters have gone you have to go straight to main hospital to be delivered within 24 hours.
I just felt my control of this situation slip away from me at that very sentence.
Surely if I'm having contractions, even though they're not close togather yet (maybe averaging 10 mins apart), surely that means my body is starting labour itself anyway?
Oh please help me I'm so confused today and I need you guys to help get my thoughts together before I go in (if you don't mind)
I just feel like all control is going to be taken away from me.

bronze · 08/04/2009 13:21

Mw has just been. I'm not going to say what she said as some of you may come round and scalp me. I'm 37+6?

Dh did then suggest name afterwards. the first name hes said that I could consider so we have agreed to compromise on it unless someone comes up with something amazing that we can both agree on soon. I'll let you know that I said he needed a baby nickname so DH has decided to call him Icky (not sure how we'll spell that)

bronze · 08/04/2009 13:22

oooh Trista exciting

is there a reason you have to go straight in. will it be a vbac?

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 08/04/2009 13:24

Chicka - it sounds like your body is labouring by itself!! i thouhgt it was 48 hours. Be firm and if there is no major risk ask them to leave you be for another 24 hours if thats what you want x

Look at boff and bb their waters went and they were left to be xx

BabyBunnyBolat · 08/04/2009 13:24

Just a very quick post and will be back later

Purple - that advice was amazing, just before hospital me and Karra had some skin-to-skin feeding and he fed so well, he would have carried on if we didn't have to leave! (actually felt bad making him stop). Bleu, I would def recommend it! He is due another one now so speak soon!!!

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 08/04/2009 13:26

Bronze are you imminent???

OP posts:
JuwEggsm · 08/04/2009 13:26

Bronze - you can't leave it at that!

Trista, unless you have got particularly risky circs, surley there is no reason for them to start worrying until at least 24 hours after waters go, if not 48. Think Boff said her area were happy until 96? Even after 24, I thought they just liked to give antibiotics, not deliver you immediately. And as waters went with a trickle, not a gush, doesn't that mean there's no particular hurry? Don't let them bully you into anything you don't want! Don't see why you can't still go to MLU either. Surely waters breaking is part of the whole process, not reason for panic?

chickaleggjac · 08/04/2009 13:27

They just want me in to check waters, it's not VBAC.
It's the fact that they seem to be ignoring that I'm having contractions and are wanting to send me to cattle market main hospital instead of letting my body do it's natural thing. I thought that's what the MLU was all about.

BabyBunnyBolat · 08/04/2009 13:27

Chicka - they like to monitor you 24-48 hours after your waters have gone to check for infection but you don't have to be induced - I went almost 72 hours before they started me off - also they will need to check it is actually your waters first which your mw should do just via an internal!

BabyBunnyBolat · 08/04/2009 13:28

bronze - spill....

JuwEggsm · 08/04/2009 13:29

Have they said why cattle market and not MLU? Phone MLU and ask them to explain?

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 08/04/2009 13:30

Chicka - Just let them check your waters and go from there and ask to go home and say that you will see them later if there's any more progress.

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 08/04/2009 13:30

ah ha ha ha I got the last post!!!! It must have been the pineapple prostaglandin shakes...

BTW, Sainsbury's are selling two MASSIVE sweet pineapples for £2.50, if anyone's keen...

I BOUGHT FOUR...

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 08/04/2009 13:31

Come on Bronze!!!

OP posts:
chickaleggjac · 08/04/2009 13:32

I feel strong enough to refuse induction, I just wonder if MLU will refuse to have me as I have been a pain in the arse and gone against their advice. They might still make me go into hospital for the birth.
I just feel so down now, I feel the lovely birth slipping away and being replaced with shitty hospital production line.

chickaleggjac · 08/04/2009 13:34

They don't do inductions at MLU, Juw. But I don't see why they have to induce if there are contractions. Even though they are not that regular yet.

bronze · 08/04/2009 13:34

Trista that seems very odd. Isnt it a normal thing for waters to break then contractions to slowly establish. I would have thought so in which case its a normal situation so should be ideal for th eMLU ... very odd

Well she said I'll put you down to see you at 39+6 (two weeks) but please call and let me know when you come out so I can cancel it as they dont let us community mws know straight away.
I'm 2/5s still but I asked if I was anymore engaged and shes said I would be pu youdown for more but 1/5 would mean his head was hanging out. Not that hes not close to that

so.....

JuwEggsm · 08/04/2009 13:35

If you turn up at the MLU, what can they do? If it is time for you to pop, and you refuse to leave, then they will have to provide you with care, I don't see how they can refuse to help you or force you to go elsewhere. It may feel like shooting yourself in the foot to be stroppy to the people who you want to help you, but I'm sure they're used to labouring women being stroppy and demanding!
