had me worried believe me

I'm feeling a bit sorry for penguin man and I really shouldnt be

chickaleggjac · 10/04/2009 18:04

I dont, not one bit

BoffinMum · 10/04/2009 18:04

Springy, this is exactly how I was on Monday until 45 minutes before. Pack your flipping bag woman.

Had row with DH as AP has resigned as she doesn't trust herself with the kids any more.

Him: So what are we going to do now?
Me: I have had enough with these silly girls. I spend my life permanently in training and development mode, being endlessly nice and patient with them and showing them the UK in my spare time, and they still do stupid things, so I have had enough now. I don't want any more au pairs.
Him: Well we can't manage on our own. That is why you got worn out and got pneumonia and why we moved to a big house with a mortgage the size of a third world country's GDP, so we could have an AP.
Me: Well you are never here so you don't see what it's like living with them. They suck up to you.
Him: Well the kids are safer with them than with us if we are so knackered we are dangerous. We are going to be very knackered.
Me: I am a big girl and I am perfectly capable of putting two kids to bed and so on FGS.
Him: Yes but I get worried because you are ill and just had a baby.
Me: (crying) Well this is what I hate, they always make us row. And I am always painted as the ogre who has 'issues' with them, and is fussy, when in reality they are selfish and difficult to manage. And we have no childcare choices, and I am scared of childcare now, and I daren't leave Felix with anyone when I go back to work, and I don't know what to do.
Him:

no bronze dont feel sorry for him! penguin man was "exclusive" with shiny by his request, he deserves to be left in the rain!!

DH finds it all a bit hilarious lol!

Bronze wont be long now if baby slowing down, thats when theyre reaaaally getting ready, according to my mum, the nurse lol

bronze · 10/04/2009 18:05

guess now I can go do dinner

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 10/04/2009 18:15

Boffin- ooohhh ((big hugs)) it's good that she realised that she was dangerous around the kids and has resigned, but it's that you and DH are arguing. you totally have a point though Boff and i can see where you're coming from xx

OP posts:
bronze · 10/04/2009 18:17

?
I must have missed a page? I'm assuming the ap has gone?

Will go and look for it later. Hope its ok with you Boff

bronze · 10/04/2009 18:17

oh there, it hadnt refreshed properly. Will read no

bronze · 10/04/2009 18:19

Oh crap. Could you go for something a bit more permanent like a nanny or nanny share?

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 10/04/2009 18:19

Boff - would a nanny be any better??

OP posts:
BoffinMum · 10/04/2009 18:26

Of course a nanny would be better but completely crippling financially. If I could have afforded it I would have had one from 1987. Instead I have made do with APs and parking my poor offspring in often badly run out of school clubs, and occasionally having summers off to be a kind of SAHM sometimes. And running around like a total loon trying to keep the show on the road.

Feeling VERY postnatal now, and I was doing so well today as well.

How dare she do all this THE WEEK I GIVE BIRTH.

BoffinMum · 10/04/2009 18:28

I had a nanny housekeeper for four months in 2006/7 and ended up spending all but £300 pcm of my take home pay on it, and she was fussy and moaned a lot and made me drive her home sometimes after my 2.25 hour commute because her car was always breaking down, and resigned by leaving a letter next to the hob one day, saying she wanted more time to ride her horse.

I am really losing faith in these people a lot.

SpringySponge · 10/04/2009 18:33

I've packed my bag - I still have to do DH's, but that'll only take 5 minutes because it just means dumping various food stuffs from the cupboard into a one place.

I just think that if it was labour, I'd know that it was labour, right? People always say that they know. I don't know at all. & I'm not even due until tomorrow, so it's not likely that anything's happening yet.

The waters in my family don't tend to break without intervention, so I've not expected mine to anyway - I've not bought a mattress protector or anything like that. I do think that there'd be a more conclusive alarm bell ringing if it was anything serious, though. The only things apart from the contractions at the moment are I feel really hot (& I don't know if that's anything to do with anything or whether it's just warm in here & I've been doing light housework) & I have a bit of backache. Certainly nothing worth getting excited about.

Boff, I'm sorry to hear that you're rowing with DH It's a particularly stressful time at the moment & this isn't going to help. You're not in the wrong, though - it is you who has to deal with the APs more than he does & this one, at least, seems to have managed to find a way to flutter her eyelashes at DH & act like an unfairly scolded child, no matter how stupid she's been. You can certainly be doing without that.

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 10/04/2009 18:42

Boff - it is pretty low of her to resign right now, seems a bit out of the blue really?!?

Springy - yay for the bag being packed!! the thing is you may not recognise it as easily as you have been in labour stasis for so long xx just keep an eye on things and see how you go x

OP posts:
NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 10/04/2009 18:43

has she given any notice at all or has she just gone now??

OP posts:
SpringySponge · 10/04/2009 18:51

The head is really low - & the strangest thing is I can feel the contraction with my finger if I put in my cervix. Which appears to be quite dilated. Not massively, obviously. But I certainly didn't need to poke through to feel the head - it's right there & easily accessible. Even if this is nothing, the progress pleases me

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 10/04/2009 18:55

Springy - progress indeed!!!!, you know .......i'm really starting to think that this could possibly be it for you ...... ooooohhhhh

OP posts:
bronze · 10/04/2009 18:55

springy- You know I'm so shocked you can feel your cervix so easily. I had my first tryand a feel last nigth, hips in air and everything and could only just reach the tip of my cervix yet mw was so low that she would describe me as 1/5th if she could except that would mean his head was hanging out not that I wasn't close.
I wonder if its because I'm tall so everything is longer

Boff- you'll still be in the blues stage so maybe it would best waiting a week or so before you decide what you're going to do. Hope you get something sorted

bronze · 10/04/2009 18:56

*my cervix with the tip of my finger. There was definitely a circular gap but even with my long fingers I could have reached into it

SpringySponge · 10/04/2009 18:59

bronze, I'm quite small - & my cervix does move up & down a lot too. When it's fully up, I can't reach it. Usually I can just about stretch enough. Today it's very low

Nutty, I'd love to hope so, but you know how many times we've been here before I've not even bothered telling DH that something could potentially be up - I don't want him not being able to focus on GTA4

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 10/04/2009 18:59

just out of intrest have you timed the cx yet Springs??

OP posts:
SpringySponge · 10/04/2009 19:00

No, I haven't yet. I probably should, just out of interest.

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 10/04/2009 19:02

yep sure do xx LOL fair enough i wouldnt want to break up a GTA focus either (tis dangerous territory!!)

OP posts:
NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 10/04/2009 19:03

hey, i'm doing quite well at this being calm business so far [proud]

OP posts:
brettgirl2 · 10/04/2009 19:04

Definitely you should time them springy - it may well be the real thing this time because after all it is your due date tomorrow .

I'm so bloody sick of being pregnant!

Boff - is it completely impossible to find a live in nanny because presumably you wouldn't actually have to pay them as high a salary?
