JuwEggsm · 09/04/2009 16:31

I'm not, I'm always a bit about 'showers' - always just seems like a 'give me presents' party! Although one of the women at my NCT group had one, and she got loads of lovely stuff, so......

surprisenumber3 · 09/04/2009 16:34

yeah I have always been a bit but then my friends sister organised a surprise one for her and it was lovely. I would't want one myself though I don't think.

JuwEggsm · 09/04/2009 16:37

Well, there's nothing you can do about a surprise one! Just smile and accept everything graciously with open arms! I definitely wouldn't turn down a surprise one if it was sprung upon me!

JuwEggsm · 09/04/2009 16:46

Awww, MrsFossil's birth story over on birth announcements thread

surprisenumber3 · 09/04/2009 16:52

I have spent far too much time on my laptop today but DH off now til Tuesday so I might not be lazing around as much

Right off to be a good mum again, going to get the DS's making Easter crafts whilst I cook dinner.

Hope springy is okay, will be back to check later.

soon2befamilyof4 · 09/04/2009 17:02

If I made a smoothie with pineapples I could probably o through about 5 pineapples without even noticing! I love smoothies. I have some yogurts I could stick in with it? I only have one of those hand held blenders though - do you think that will be ok? It is electric obviously!

soon2befamilyof4 · 09/04/2009 17:03

oh and regarding the baby shower - I think its the sort of thing where if somebody arranges one for you then you are really lucky but its too cheeky to organize yourself!

chickaleggjac · 09/04/2009 17:18

I'm back
yuck - bronze at your pineapple and jizz smoothies, if that's what you were implying. If not then oops, sorry!

Ok went to letting agents and he didn't have anything although tomorrow he is getting one which sounds perfect. It's a 3 bed ground floor flat with big garden and it's only £500 per month.
Mum and I went round to find where in the town it is and it's in a nice quiet area, with a co-op just round the corner, about 10 mins walk from DS's nursery and has a primary school......wait for it......right across the road! Ha!
Sounds perfect. I refuse to totally get my hopes up as I know by now that the universe will throw a few crappy things at me, but so far it looks lovely, so I'm going to say that my shitty horrible day is looking great again!

BabyBunnyBolat · 09/04/2009 17:36

Hello

Chicka - sound perfect - fingers crossed for tomorrow morning - now just don't go in to labour before hand and miss out

Quick question, Karahan has really dry skin on his belly, like that kind of dry skin that we would just put moisturiser on twice a day and would clear up - nothing angry just yet but can I put anything on it (like baby oil etc) if his cord hasn't come up yet?

BabyBunnyBolat · 09/04/2009 17:37

Come off, not up!

bronze · 09/04/2009 17:37

use olive oil

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 09/04/2009 17:39

Chicka - that flat sounds perfect!!!

BB - sorry, hun, don't have a clue... but I'm sure in a couple of weeks I'll be pro at all things "baby"! (we hope!)

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 09/04/2009 17:41

BB - try a bit of baby lotion, just aviod the cord area xx

Chicka - that MW had a damn cheek glad you have a sensible nice regular mw on your side!! xx oohh sounds lovely!! good luck and fingers crossed for you xx

SpringySponge · 09/04/2009 17:48

Just popping in - I see there haven't been any more babies yet. I'm absolutely knackered (I've had the day from hell), so won't stay long yet. I need a nap, I think. I'll be back later though.

Relevant to pregnancy news of the day: Got a letter this morning saying that the results of my swabs from WEEKS ago were back & I have an infection, with an enclosed letter to take to my GP. So I walked to my GP surgery, to find it closed for Easter already So I opened the letter to see how important it looked & didn't really understand much of it, so I took the letter the pharmacy across the road & explained that I'm due on Saturday & my GP's unavailable. They didn't explain much, but sent me on to the hospital. I got a bit worried at this point.

Long story short, I've had to have a 2g dose of Metronidazole (an antibiotic) which should clear the infection (apparently 'trichomoniasis') in 48 hours, so I should be okay before the baby arrives. The leaflet included with the medication says that DH should be treated as well, but nobody mentioned that. & it's Easter weekend, so he can't even make an appointment to ask the GP until Tuesday & God knows when it'll be before he gets seen. So no more prostaglandins for me

I've had a generally really shitty day, but that's the part to do with my health, so that'll do as a rant for now. As I say, I'm going to go & have a nap & hopefully wake up in a better mood.

Hope everyone's okay xx

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 09/04/2009 18:01

Springy - big ((hugs)), st least you will be all clear in 2 days xx just a pain that they didnt treat your dh at the same time that explains the discharge btw xx sorry you've had a shitty day, hope you manage to get some rest/sleep and that you feel better x

Schulte · 09/04/2009 18:03

Springy that they made you wait for weeks for this result! Glad that you found out just in time though and are getting treated now. x

Schulte · 09/04/2009 18:04

I really feel like giving birth tonight - I mean I am in the right mood for it and wouldn't mind the pain at all. But of course it's not going to happen!

PuzzleRocks · 09/04/2009 18:11

Oh Springy ((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))), you poor bugger. I hope the nap helps.

bronze · 09/04/2009 18:11

springy- when was the letter dated?

shulte- I know what you mean. Last night I was up for it. tonight cant think of anything worse

JuwEggsm · 09/04/2009 18:27

Springy - I just can't believe it takes that long for swab results to get back to you. They must put on the pathology request that you are pregnant, I would imagine it only takes 48 hours or so to get growth from the swabs - you would think results for pregnant women would then be sent through as urgent direct to your GP?

Don't be surprised if you are as sick as a dog after that dose of metro . Sorry, not welcome news.

JuwEggsm · 09/04/2009 18:30

Also, to get DH treated, see if local hosp has a drop in GUM clinic - most places do. You can just turn up, and if you take your paperwork/ swab results along, I would think they will be able to do a prescription for him then and there. That way, you might be able to get him sorted out with the drugs by tomorrow!

BabyBunnyBolat · 09/04/2009 18:44

Springy ((hugs)) Boo for crappy day - I have some jam or custard donuts for anyone that wants????

Thanks for the advice - I phoned by HV and she said as I have a appointment with the post-natal clinic at 9.30 tom to leave it as it's not angry in anyway and they can advise as to whether I can put any oils / creams on it! Will monitor it tonight and if it is any worse before bed, might put some oil on or something!

soon2befamilyof4 · 09/04/2009 18:46

I REALLY want Mcdonalds. I don't know why but I fancy it so much! It is only up the road but I should be putting DD to bed! And I stil have PJs on!

Think I will just have to find something to eat from the freezer.

This is what happens when DH is at work late - he works till 11pm and doesn't want dinner when he gets in so its just me.
