Kitty - that sounds yummy? Do you have a reciepe or was it ready made? I fancy one now! Haven't had it for aggggessss and never done it myself.

Went very dizzy around midday. Had to take DD into our room, put her peppa pig DVD on and we both had a lie down! So had a rest and then a bottle of lucazade and a spatone sachet and then felt much better. DD then felll asleep for an hour so quickly tidied her room and put her washing away.

We have go tthe co for the new baby - in DDs room as they will be sharing eventually but we haven't bought a matress yet and weren't planning to till we need to use one. I have a second hand one that came with DDs cot last year that has been in the loft (wrapped) ever since. Do you think it will be ok to get that down to go in it for now? So that I can put the baby in there for a safe place away from DD when we are upstairs? It wouldn't be used as an actual cot mattress - just like in the same way we might use a playpen/travel cot. So I can put baby in there and DD can play on the floor? DD is 15 months so clueless about being gentle with the new baby - so trying to get a few places that I can put baby safely! If you don't all think it is ok to use the second hand maress for this we will just buy one now rather than nearer the time - just thought it would mean that any garantee or whatever would be for longer and we would have a nice fresh matress in 6 months time when baby goes into cotbed??

Rachel - sorry to hear things have stopped. Sounds a bit like how my last labour started though. My biggest regret was not sleeping enough so do get some rest!

JuwEggsm · 09/04/2009 15:32

Well, I think at 48 hours+ post-sweep, it's safe to say it was ineffective .

Now have to wait until Saturday for the next go. Never have I been so impatient to have a strange woman pop her fingers up my fanjo!
Perhaps I could have a sneaky little go myself...

chickaleggjac · 09/04/2009 15:34

ok major rant alert (may involve swearing, sorry)

Got up today to find no contractions, nothing. To be honest I was expecting that and I'm quite ok about the wait. I had a false alarm like this with DS so I know my body will be throwing these testers at me.
Had MW at 12.30. She did all checks, all perfect. BP fine, urine fine, baby fine. Then she said right I have something I need to talk to you about. She then went on to say that because I'd had a scare last week with BP, the MW who came to see me on sunday had reported me to docs at main hosp and expressed concerns that I should be going to MLU when I have past history of PE. For fuck's sake, last thursday it was the hottest day of the year here so far and I was sweating buckets and of course my BP was a bit raised. My bloods were normal, and my BP was fine on sunday when the witch came out to check it. (while at mine on the sunday she kept asking who had authorised me going to MLU, mum and I were totally suspicious of her then, so can totally believe she went straight away and did this).
Anyway because of this, docs had contacted my usual MW to say he "strongly recommends" that I have my baby at cattle market main hospital.
Straight away (damn my hormones) I burst into tears, and the bloody things wouldn't stop. I was prepared for the fight yesterday and it didn't happen and it was amazing. Then today I was totally happy and unprepared.
I stayed there for ages. I explained to MW that while I appreciate witch and doc's concerns, I have been absolutely fine this pg, and if there are any signs at all of PE, I will be straight to main hospital, I will not take any risks. I told her that I'd rather go to MLU, and try for lovely birth and I will promise to transfer if need arises. So she was happy with that.
I'm so annoyed though, that rather than talk to me in person, they all just go behind my back and start discussing me without the full facts, and then try to make decisions on my behalf. If that doc had spoken to me rather than looking at one BP reading, he would have seen I was bloody roasting that day and have otherwise been fine. Grrrrr.
Anyway I'm glad I have remained in control. I still have a good chance of birth at MLU.
BTW I told MW about contractions I had from tue 9pm til wed 5pm (ish) and in my notes she wrote "braxton hicks at times"
GGGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! I know what a fucking braxton hicks contraction is and what it feels like, I've been having them regularly since 19 weeks. I also know what a real contraction feels like. I have been in labour before. Just because I didn't have my baby yet and it was only false alarm doesn't mean I wasn't having contractions. They were sore!!!
Anyway that's MW rant over. Got home to find council letter saying they agree I am homeless but they think I did it deliberately so they refuse to help me. Well thank you very much. As if I'd make myself homeless, it's the most stressfull thing in the world, especially with a 3 year old son and a baby due any day. Twats.

JuwEggsm · 09/04/2009 15:40

Trista - that witch sounds awful . Why don't you contact supervisor of midwives and say you do not want this particular person involved in your care any further? It is so unprofessional to just try and make decisions about your care, behind your back without any thought of consulting you at all. A complaint wouldn't be out of order, if you can be bothered.

jbakedbean · 09/04/2009 15:43

I was due the 4th april, so really understand you frustrations kalikaroo. climbing walls myself and i have no symptoms either, bar being very irritable, and braxton hicks, but nothing new there.

still in my pj's for the second day in a row, but forcing myself out of the house tonight to go see my mum for some much needed tlc, as partner has no idea how frustrated I am.

Wish you all the best with your little ones to be, x

messymissy · 09/04/2009 15:44

chicka - don;t apologies for swearing...go ahead.... I'll join you...what a bloody awful day!!

can only offer you sympathy - and congratualtions that you stayed in control.

Is there an appeals process at the council? get appealing and complain.

hope you get to have your baby in a mlu - i did , so much better.

JuwEggsm · 09/04/2009 15:44

Kitty - did you notice that Springy snuck in and stole the last thread from you? Cheeky sponge!

chickaleggjac · 09/04/2009 15:44

Juw I totally agree it's awful, but thankfully this MW was just a once off, she's not my regular one so I'll probably never see her again.
Doc is a twat, but I said to MW I don't agree with him and she said I have right to ignore his suggestion, so I will. Unless I do get sick, then I'll be happy to transfer.

JuwEggsm · 09/04/2009 15:47

Your usual midwife sounds like a very nice, sensible, reasonable woman - I like her.

soon2befamilyof4 · 09/04/2009 15:49

I have a pineapple that I bought about a week or so ago and just don't fancy eating it - do you think I could blend it up to make a drink or something?

chickaleggjac · 09/04/2009 15:50

She is, I like her a lot. I asked her what she thought I should do and she said if it was her she'd go to hosp. But she saw how upset I was about it and said I have right to refuse all advice, and was then very supportive of my decision to compromise, despite her own opinions. She agrees that I have been in very good health this pg so it's only due to history that they are kicking off. She is lovely.

chickaleggjac · 09/04/2009 15:52

soon2be - I hate pineapple, so if I was going to eat it for natural induction purpose, I'd mix it up with some bananas, fresh orange juice, strawberry yoghurt and a wee dash of milk and make it into a smoothie. Yum yum

surprisenumber3 · 09/04/2009 15:55

chicka surely a one off high BP reading is nothing to worry about. Plus, if it was anything like PE it would only get worse, not better, and yours is fine now. Keep pushing for what you want - although I know you will.

Is the MLU near the main bit if things go wrong? My friend had a lovely labout in the MLU, then ended up being transferred urgently to theatre but she doesn't regret being in the MLU for the majority of her labour as it was much much more relaxed.

chickaleggjac · 09/04/2009 15:56

messymissy - I would complain or appeal but to be honest I just don't have the energy to deal with council.
While waiting on their decision, I've managed to save up enough for deposit and 1st month's rent of private let anyway so they can stick their decision where the sun dont shine!!
I've started hunting for a house already

chickaleggjac · 09/04/2009 15:59

surprise - it a 25 min drive to hosp from MLU. It just means I'll have to be sensible and not ignore any symptoms. But that's ok by me, I will be sensible.

surprisenumber3 · 09/04/2009 16:01

they could get you there quick if needbe but obviously nothing will happen and everything will be perfect and lovely. People have HB's who live further than that away from hospital.

soon2befamilyof4 · 09/04/2009 16:11

I usually really like pineapple and have fancied it for weeks but thought I wouldn't buy any till 37 eeks so I would really enjoy it during full term so if I ate loads and it didn't work - it wouldn't matter. But not I just don't fancy it and I don't want to waste it more than anything else. I don't actually think it would make me go into labour - I just don't want it to go in the bin! DD would eat some - but at 15 months I certainly wouldn't feed her a whole pineapple! Although she would do it, given the chance probably - she eats fruit like it is chocolate!

chickaleggjac · 09/04/2009 16:17

Well you could use some for a smoothie, give some to DD, and a big chunk of it could go into the garden......for the butterflies!

chickaleggjac · 09/04/2009 16:18

right I'm off to letting agents, wish me luck x

bronze · 09/04/2009 16:18

surely the pineapple needs to be mixed wit some prostaglandins (sp?) to make a smoothie

surprisenumber3 · 09/04/2009 16:19

good luck chicka!

I'm allergic to pineapple and the last twice I've had RLT I've thrown up even though I quite like it, I would love to give things a helping hand though!

surprisenumber3 · 09/04/2009 16:25

Is anyone having/had a baby shower?? I'm not but have just been asked if I am!
