I like Hazel - that isn't a little girls name.

Kalikaroo · 09/04/2009 10:39

Talia's a lovely name.

What do people here think about the name Thora??? It's on my girl's list, but I don't know whether it's fab or fogeyish

We're still having bother with deciding on boys names, but I think we're ok-ish with girls names.

We're using my surname as a middle name because I kept my name when I got married. It's going to work out ok I think, though ti does sound slightly odd with DH's Greek surname.

Schulte · 09/04/2009 10:40

If anyone tried to tell me what to eat / not to eat I'd get very grumpy Kali

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 09/04/2009 10:40

Schulte - I dont see why a Hazel shouldn't be taken seriously?? yargh that is a v scary story!! poor woman!!

Aha, the blue space thing has gone now. Odd

I wonder when we will have the first name double up?

A snapshot of todays labouring Mums

brettgirl2 · 09/04/2009 10:42

Couldn't agree more, scoffing chocolate is one of the only true pleasures heavily pg women have left.

Schulte · 09/04/2009 10:42

Is Thora a Greek name? Sounds very Germanic to me. I like it.

PuzzleRocks · 09/04/2009 10:43

Schulte - Anna gets my vote.

Schulte · 09/04/2009 10:44

Hmmm I have now got two votes for Hazel and two for Anna I think we might have to wait and see what she looks like?

Schulte · 09/04/2009 10:44

Ah x posts Puzzle - thanks!

JuwEggsm · 09/04/2009 10:44

Kali - I like Thora at first, I really like the sound it makes, but I'm afraid it does instantly make me think of Thora Hird! However, I don't think that will be a connection most people in the generation below us would make, so probably not a problem. It sounds like a Norse goddess kind of a name. Is it?

PuzzleRocks · 09/04/2009 10:49

Kali - I love Thora

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 09/04/2009 10:49

Kali - Thora is cool, like the god Thor but a female version

OP posts:
Kalikaroo · 09/04/2009 10:49

I think Thora is a viking-ish name, maybe the female version of the god Thor? Not entirely sure, but I like the sound of it and it's easy to say/spell in English and Greek. I also have viking and German blood, so maybe it would be ok?

I think our top girl's name is going to be a Greek name that's used in quite a few other countries (one of the names for the Greek moon goddess) - can you guess what it is??????

Kalikaroo · 09/04/2009 10:50

oops - x-posted there with Thor!

PuzzleRocks · 09/04/2009 10:51

Luna

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 09/04/2009 10:51

Selene??

OP posts:
Kalikaroo · 09/04/2009 10:51

Thora Hird crossed my mind too - that's why I thought it might be fogeyish!!

Would it always be associated with stairlifts??

soon2befamilyof4 · 09/04/2009 10:57

very off topic but does anybody know if kick fit have any sort of price guarantee thing? I had a new tire done there yesterday and questioned the price as it seemed very expensive but the guy swore to me that it was because my car needs the expensive tires and it is just tires in general that have gone up in price. I then checked somewheree else that was a lot cheaper. It was nearly £170 in kick fit and a different garage quoted me £100 including fitting etc. SO annoyed. It was too late by the time I found out though!

surprisenumber3 · 09/04/2009 10:58

hmm...IL's have just announced they're going on holiday tomorrow for a week so that's thoughtful!

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 09/04/2009 10:59

Soon2Be - i would try, always worth a go. not sure if they actually do a price promise though
