brettgirl2 · 09/04/2009 09:43

Sorry puzzle - I can't see blue space

brettgirl2 · 09/04/2009 09:44

Juwes - have you ever actually been to Islay?

soon2befamilyof4 · 09/04/2009 10:03

Was meant to be going to legoland today as my anual pass runs out this month. Raining and miserable here though and have loads of housework to do. To be fair - DD is only 15 months and I couldn't tell you how many times she has been to legoland/chessington etc! Lol. I just need some more tesco clubcard points to get a new merlin pass!!

No signs of baby.

JuwEggsm · 09/04/2009 10:12

Nope, never been to Islay. I get the feeling it's not your top holiday spot! I do believe I 'own' a square foot of distillery land after filling out a card from Laphroaig! Would it be like naming the child 'godforsaken hole in the middle of nowhere'???

surprisenumber3 · 09/04/2009 10:13

Morning everyone - what a miserable day, that blows my plans for drinking coffee in the park while watching the kids play then!!

Love the names you're all thinking of (esp, Brettgirl's - not that I'm biased cos it's my name or anything )

Don't forget ladies, there's a full moon approaching - here's to lots of babies being born!!

JuwEggsm · 09/04/2009 10:17

If birthing under the full moon, do we have to howl instead of moo?

brettgirl2 · 09/04/2009 10:19

Well put it this way, I love the west coast of scotland in general. Islay isn't the biggest highlight though IMO. It is true that the distilleries are good and I enjoyed this aspect, but it isn't somewhere I am in a hurry to go back to (unlike most places I've been up there). I am wary of offending someone so will shut up now.

surprisenumber3 · 09/04/2009 10:20

yes, loud howling required

I sounded more like a monster than a cow or a werewolf when I had DS2 - was totally silent til the bearing down feeling started and it took me a while to work out where the sound was coming from!!

Schulte · 09/04/2009 10:22

Morning. Yawn. Anyone else really tired with heavy legs all the time? When I get up off the sofa I have to roll over and get on all fours first and I feel like a walrus!

Whisky eh? Yum yum. I like Laphroaig too. Ooooh wish I could have some. Right now.

Had a breastmilk leakage onto my favourite t-shirt this morning but too lazy to get changed.

Also had a random one off painful contraction last night. What for?

I keep wanting to repack my hospital bag because I change my mind about what I want to wear for going home. Please tell me that grey track suit bottoms and a stripy t-shirt are perfectly acceptable for bringing a baby home?

So name debates here ongoing... what do you prefer, Hazel or Anna? We just can't make up our minds.

Congratulations Bumpalump by the way!!!

JuwEggsm · 09/04/2009 10:24

Not to worry BG. Perhaps Skye instead? . Or Iona? I do love Iona, but there is already a little Iona on DH's side.

Not sure why the sudden fixation with Scottish isles? Though bearing in mind I'm in Kent, I think that naming the child Sheppey would probably be punishable under human rights legislation!

Schulte · 09/04/2009 10:25

Oh on the subject of giving birth early / going overdue if your mum and MIL have... my mum was a week early twice, and DH was born 10 days early, and still my DD managed to arrive 5 days late. So I don't think there is a connection. Although I wish there was because both MIL and my mum had 3 hour labours with their second DCs!

surprisenumber3 · 09/04/2009 10:25

Morning schulte, yawn too. I'm still in bed.

I've got similar to you to bring baby home in, I just think whatever is comfortable is fine

I prefer Anna

Schulte · 09/04/2009 10:26

I love Ailsa - apparently that's also a Scottish island? Had a best friend called Ailsa when I was about 8.

JuwEggsm · 09/04/2009 10:28

Schulte - I love Anna, though I do like Hazel too. Hazel is prettier, Anna is.....stronger???

Also, re: heavy legs. A friend once told me that 'heavy legs' is one of the major causes of time off from work in France. I don't know where she gets this kind of info (though she does work for a big insurance company, maybe it resuts in lots of claims), but we couldn't really work out what heavy legs was! I'm just suffering from heavy Juwesm each morning - I know what you mean about the Walrus-ness! I think I make a similar noise to a walrus whenever I have to get up!

soon2befamilyof4 · 09/04/2009 10:29

I had sort of forgotten about middle names! We have chosen Talia for our daughters first name. Our DD1 is called Elouise and her middle name is pauline, which is DH's Nan who died a few years ago. We did vaguly talk about giving Talia Irine for a middle name which was my Grandmas name - she died the same year. But I feel a bit mean on the other 2 nans! They are still alive though!

Kalikaroo · 09/04/2009 10:30

Morning everyone

Still no baby for me yet - getting very impatient now and keep getting lot of texts from people asking if I've had it yet . Refusing to reply to them now!

I've also come to the conclusion that there isn't actually a baby in there; it's just a figment of my imagination. I don't know how it's possible to go into labour with NO advance warning signs at all (though my Mum says that all her labours started out of the blue...)

DH has decided to work from home until bubs makes an appearance and he's driving me MAD!

DH: KK, did you eat that 200g bar of chocolate that was in the cupboard yesterday evening?
KK: No, the bloody chocolate fairy swooped in and scoffed it! Grrr
DH: It's not good for the baby having all that sugar you know.
KK: FFS!!!!!

He also keeps creeping up behind me and trying to see what I'm looking at on the internet

surprisenumber3 · 09/04/2009 10:32

I just have crazy legs where I have to roll them around the bed to stop them aching!

Talia is lovely. I have a friend with a Talitha who she calls Tali most of the time.

Kalikaroo · 09/04/2009 10:33

I hate it when people creep!

Hormonal, grumpy and over-due???? Moi?????

Kalikaroo · 09/04/2009 10:33

...

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 09/04/2009 10:34

Juw - howling under a full moon must be compulsory i think! lol sheppy is banned!!

Shulte - wear whatever you like home, whatever is most comfy xx Love Hazel!!!

i for one am a beached whale

JuwEggsm · 09/04/2009 10:35

Yup, Talia is very pretty. Eloise also on my list, though without the 'u'!

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 09/04/2009 10:37

Kali - does your dh not know its your right as a pregnant lady to scoff as much chocolate as you like?!?! i'm sure there is a law stating that fact somewhere

Schulte · 09/04/2009 10:37

Do you think a grown up Hazel wouldn't be taken seriously?

Wanted to share a freaky birth story with you - MIL's neighbour just had her second DC 11 days early. She went into labour in the middle of the night and they phoned first her FIL, then her BIL to ask them to come over and look after DS1. Both of them said they couldn't drive because they'd had too much to drink so the DH jumps into the car to pick BIL up, leaving the poor woman all on her own in the middle of labour. Things then progressed VERY quickly and she ended up giving birth all on her own, on her hall floor, screaming in pain. All this of course woke DS1 up (he's only around 17 months) and because she hadn't closed the stairgate he came climbing down the stairs, crying, not understanding why mummy was screaming her head off and rolling around on the floor, and of course she couldn't get to him and comfort him because she couldn't move.

Apparently it took the ambulance and the MW ages to arrive and they had to cut the cord themselves with the kitchen scissors (now that's the part of the story that I can't quite believe?).

All this happened in Sheffield, Springy

brettgirl2 · 09/04/2009 10:38

Skye is amazing, never been to Iona . I also like Isla.

I must get up in a minute - I have been sitting in bed for so long now that my backside is really sore

I can't believe some of you ladies are weighing yourselves. I'm waiting to lose my stone before I even consider going near the scales again.
