Thank you for not making me feel awful about it. She's texting me every day & emailing every so often & I'm mostly just ignoring her. I know that I shouldn't, but I've explained that I'm being a bit cavewomanish about things at the moment & shutting down from social contact as a weird sort of mental preparation, so I don't know what else I can do.

MM, how annoyingly vague I know they can't give specific answers, but people who aren't on the verge of childbirth have different ideas of what is & isn't 'soon' to us - it'd be better if she said 'it'll probably be x - y days'. Even if 'y' did have to be a generous estimate.

WhatFreshEggIsThis · 07/04/2009 22:56

Orbit is fabulous - he spent some time on his baby gym today and did some staring at some toys. Still feeding like a champ, and had quite a settled night last night. Fingers crossed for another one tonight!

He is also very beautiful, but then I'm a teeny bit biased....

WhatFreshEggIsThis · 07/04/2009 22:57

Off to more feeding and bed shortly - night night lovely people x

Northernlurker · 07/04/2009 23:01

Good work Orbit. Keep it up! (mum seems to be doing ok as well )

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 07/04/2009 23:01

Night Night MM i hope you manage to get some rest xx

Springy - nothing at all to feel awful about ((hugs)) xx you have explained how you're feeling so she should expect a lack of responsiveness really

WFH - glad Orbit is doing so well and is settling so quickly and he is beautiful!!

surprisenumber3 · 07/04/2009 23:17

night everyone, MM I will be checking phone for any updates!

got an early start tomorrow as DS1's friends mum is picking him up at 9 so will be like a school morning Just as I was getting to love the easy mornings! Seeing MW at 9.30 too.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 07/04/2009 23:45

When, oh when, are these contractions ever going to establish so baby can be born! Have now had 2 days of painful contractions - more painful today than yesterday (along with the bloody show) but they still aren't frequent enough or in a pattern - just happen randomly through the day.

BabyBolat · 08/04/2009 00:39

Bloomin hell - I go away for one afternoon and it takes me hours to catch up!!!

re breasts - cant feel any lumps it is just rock hard!!! karahan had a really good feed earlier which helped but back tonight - will hopefully settle down soon - have had them out most of the day leaking away!!! tis beautiful!!! Chickalee that sounds like what I am getting, completely drained the right one earlier, left one tonight and now right one is all hard - just want to keep the nipple area soft so he can latch on ok

LOL Puzzle andSchultes - I asked Dh to check Karra's nappy today and he stuck his finger straight in to korma poo (hee hee!)

Nutty, my face has been like that for the past month, is getting better since birth but it was horrid at the beginning!!

Juw, it is likely you will go before that so like Nutty said keep it there and phone monday if you don't want to do it. oh the joy of no more rlt!!!

Swali are you feeling better now?

Welcome back LuLu , yay for the house - LOL at baby looking like a reginald - could you imagine?!!

My Norks are huge, am giving jordon a run for her money!!! was trying to settle Karra earlier and had to hold him by my waist while standing for him to have a little suckle!

oooh kitty twinges are exciting!

Bleu, I tried to pump and it killed have just been doing it in to muslins and baths etc What works for me at the moment is just expressing around the whole nipple area (not jut the pokey bit) to soften that up enough for Karra to grab on to and then he does the rest. I try not to worry about times though - some times he will be on for 45 minutes and some times 5-10 depending on his mood but he seems content enough and is feeding fairly regularly - call your mw though - that is what they are there for - my hospital also have home visitors that will come out and help you bath or feed the baby if you need it- do you have anything like that. Also I find if I am stressing about it (as I was yesterday) he just wont settle there! I have no real advice as I have never done it before

Congratulations BUmpalump!!!

WFH, Karra doesn't know what to do with his baby gym, he just stares at the parrot and giraffe and listens to the music - bless him!

Def had my 3 day hormonal moment this evening with DH, Karra also had a long long cry tonight as he couldn't poo and was in a proper grumpy old man mood but luckily it came out in the end and he is now fed and settled! Dh went off to bed an hour and a half ago - sent him up because he was dying

Went out shopping with my sister this afternoon and am shattered! was too tired to buy anything!

Quick question, is there anything I can do to make him feel more included, obviously I feed and am with Karahan all day and he is at work (but only for tomorrow (yay) but he misses him all day and then with feeding etc in the evenings he doesn't really get to enjoy him as much - have made sure thurs and fri are just the three of us but want to do some bits so that DH feels really included - am going to tell him to leave the bathroom until next week though as I dont want him tiling all day when we could be together!

Right am off to bed - at least I have caught up so tomorrow morning can post nicely -

BabyBolat · 08/04/2009 00:41

Good luck to everyone with signs - sending you all good labour dreams!!

BabyBolat · 08/04/2009 07:37

Where are all the babies?

LaurenTheFertilisedEasterEgg61 · 08/04/2009 07:47

morning

im still pregnant arrrgh!! been having lots of back pains and period pains through night and this morning though so fingers crossed, and going to see MW today as didnt need to go hospital yesterday because no more fluid loss so god knows whats happening down there..

BB could DH give Karra a bath?? They said its good daddy time at antenatal if mum is BF ??

you are up early!!

PuzzleRocks · 08/04/2009 07:56

BB - I second Lauren's suggestion. Bathtime is DH's job (although hair washing is mine).

Lauren - Good luck today.

brettgirl2 · 08/04/2009 08:02

Bath sounds like a good idea, otherwise further nappy changing practice lol? It is a problem and as a result I think men are sometimes a bit about bf. In time though it will be less of a prob. Good luck with the MW Lauren.

I'm trying not to symptom spot tbh until I have some 'definite' symptoms (eg established contractions, waters breaking, show). Otherwise I think I will drive myself completely potty.

Springy - you have my absolute permission to only worry about yourself for the next 8 weeks or so. We have enough on our plate without trying to sort out the problems of others too.

Schulte - I have a job requiring no schmoozing where I am expected to say exactly what I think . I can't stand that arselicking culture in many companies and it doesn't come naturally to me at all!

LaurenTheFertilisedEasterEgg61 · 08/04/2009 08:03

thanks puzzle.. wish i knew what it feels like im clueless to this giving birth stuff..

just been reading thru thread congrats to bumpalump!!

LaurenTheFertilisedEasterEgg61 · 08/04/2009 08:20

thanks bg i think thats my problem, looking for stuff.. wish we could just have another stick to wee on : positive for oncoming labour, negative not happening yet

JuwEggsm · 08/04/2009 08:22

Morning all.

Happy due date to Lulu! Hope worktop arrives before LO!

Congrats to Bumpalump!!

How long will it be, do you think, before the 'arrived' list gets bigger than the 'still to hatch'??

BB - You could always do a bit of babymooning with DH, so you both get to stay snuggled up in bed with Karra, and Dad gets to do lots of skin to skin snuggling. Although if milky-smelling Mum is nearby, he might not want cuddles with Dad, so perhaps you could leave them snuggled up in bed and have a lovely looooong bath/ come and live on here/ redecorate the kitchen!

Labour checklist:

Mucus plug - no (although possibly stolen)
Back pain - no
Period pain - no
Tricksy bowels - no
Waters - no
'Lightening' - not noticeably
Pressure in pelvis - possibly - a bit of an ache
BH - no more so than all the way along.

BabyBolat · 08/04/2009 08:32

LAuren I think you would be a millionaire is you could invent a labour predictor!!

Not too early, Karra has a feed at 7! Yeah bath time would be a good idea - the only problem at the moments is that Karahan screams blue murder every time you take his clothes so not the most enjoyable daddy-baby time! Sure once he gets used to it, it will be lovely!

Lauren I personally think it is better being clueless - now I have done it, if I get pregnant again I know what I am in for as such so think I will be even more anxious!

Springy re your friend, I think you are doing the normal thing! You were worried she would do this and she can't put all her issues on to you and iccle George!

Am dreading today Karahan has his hospital appointment for weight and bloods etc - he is going to hate 1. having to get undressed again and 2. having his blood taken!! And DH is at work so have to do it by myself (I left the room for the vit K injection at hospital so not sure how I am going to do today!) any tips on how to cope with it?

PuzzleRocks · 08/04/2009 08:33

A labour predicting pee stick would be ace.

Morning Ju

Brettgirl - Your job sounds intriguing. Are you an X Factor judge?

BabyBolat · 08/04/2009 08:35

Juw, I actually put Karahan in to bed with Dh this morning after his 4 o'clock feed, just while I sorted out the dirty nappies etc - they were both half asleep but it was the first thing DH said to me this morning when we woke up!
