Bleuravin · 07/04/2009 20:13

Yes jaundice.

SpringySponge · 07/04/2009 20:13

Haha! 'This extraordinary ball feeling cannot be compared to the past rubbers.'

Schulte, being German you can get away with anything - a Brit would just assume that it was a German quirk

Bleu, I'm not sure, sorry - you seem really switched on to everything I'd have suggested already...

Schulte · 07/04/2009 20:14

Ha ha Springy we Germans ARE intrinsically rude... it's in our nature

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 07/04/2009 20:15

Purlease - oohhh good luck getting your childcare sorted and for the sweep on friday

thats 2 of you for induction on tuesday!! you and Juw lets hope the babies decide to come out before xx

OK, Bleu if Meggy is jaundiced then that will make her sleepy but the only way to clear the jaundice is to feed, feed, feed otherwise she will need to go under the lights in hospital. Do whatever you have to in order to wake her up and get her to feed then wake her up every two hours and give her another feed. Tomorrow, take her out for a long walk in the sun if the weather permits.

If you are getting at all worried then phone your MW or GP.

Schulte · 07/04/2009 20:16

Okay Bleu then I would try to make sure she does feed every 2-3 hours even and wake her up for it - it's what the MW told me to do - and get her out in the sunlight during the day. If she gets any more sleepy and doesn't seem interested in feeding I'd get someone to have a look, just in case.

Bleuravin · 07/04/2009 20:16

If you look under my pictures you'll find a picture of Meggy from this morning.

oooo.. submerging in warm water sounds like something good to try. THanks Swalis, I will try this next

SpringySponge · 07/04/2009 20:17

I actually really like Germans - I don't think of it as 'rude', per se. I think that you tend to be more forthright & less worried about being tactful. It does seem strange to the sensitive British, but I think it's quite refreshing

Schulte · 07/04/2009 20:17

I see Swali and I have given the same advice All the best Bleu!

SpringySponge · 07/04/2009 20:17

Aww, Bleu - she's lovely

purlease · 07/04/2009 20:18

Bleu,

With my DD I had problems initally with breastfeeding and DD was a bit jaundiced initially. Finally had a fantastic midwife visit who suggested a rugby ball hold which appeared to be the best position for dd and me.

I also used a hand pump to relieve pressure when there was a build up. Would also recommend the bath suggestion.

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 07/04/2009 20:18

awww Bleu, what a cutie pie

Bleuravin · 07/04/2009 20:18

Right, so expression is the way to go, even though I've been avoiding it because of the trials before and wanting to get the latching on right... I love you guys

Swaliswan · 07/04/2009 20:20

She is gorgeous, Bleu. I think that you have just had the standard advice from myself and Schulte about the jaundice/feeding issues. When DD was born she had jaundice and had to have light therapy. I was told to set an alarm for two hourly feeding so that I could wake DD up to get her to feed. It was exhausting but it was only for one night.

Bleuravin · 07/04/2009 20:20

Thanks; I think she's the most beautiful thing in the whole world of course...makes me want to cry half the time looking at her...hormonal Bleu

Schulte · 07/04/2009 20:20

I had a hell of a shock when I first started working in this country I tell you... was used to saying exactly what I thought but it wasn't appreciated by my colleagues Now I can do the business schmooze like everyone else

purlease · 07/04/2009 20:21

rading this brings it all back - DD is 4 in June so it has been a while.

Schulte · 07/04/2009 20:22

Awwww she is beautiful Bleu.

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 07/04/2009 20:22

good job Schute considering you have your own electronics company

OP posts:
Northernlurker · 07/04/2009 20:22

The thing is in the short term she's going to struggle to latch on if your boobs are rock hard so if expressing a bit eases that then it will actually help with the latch.

Schulte · 07/04/2009 20:23

Off to find some dinner now. Nighty night lovelies. Sleep tight.

purlease · 07/04/2009 20:23

by the way since I went on maternity leave, my access to internet is on DHs work laptop and I appear to be having major problems with his keyboard which is why I seem to lose letters every now and again

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 07/04/2009 20:24

Night Schulte xx

Nutty

SpringySponge · 07/04/2009 20:24

Schulte, I think knowing that you were German really would make me a lot more accepting of your 'rudeness' - I understand that it's the German culture to not bother with the bullshit, whereas if I thought that you were a Brit & had grown up here I'd probably be more taken aback & potentially offended. Talk about double standards I'd much rather everyone just cut to the chase, though. I'm not good at tiptoeing around people
