Ginger - tell her we were all moo-ing for her and are so pleased Felix is here - can you ask her how she is feeling and send our love - really hope this is the end of her SPD hell now!!!

BabyBolat · 07/04/2009 09:12

Ok really have to go and tidy now - he's already been asleep for an 90 mins so not sure how long I have left!!!

brettgirl2 · 07/04/2009 09:15

Hooray, congratulations to both Boffin and Fossil. Two more lovely babies!

BB - you seem to chilled out and sorted, I can't believe it. I am going to have no idea what to do at all!

I am starting being really grumpy with people (particularly DH as he is in the firing line). All of a sudden people seem to think that I need to be entertained and looked after and it's really doing my head in.

Out of interest - what is everyone's policy on visitors after the birth? I think my mum is a bit put out because she imagined spending a lot of time with LO from very early on (even though her own mother didn't ). I have a nasty feeling that MIL is going to outstay her welcome - DH has told me that he has talked to her, but I'm not actually convinced that he has. Perhaps that is just me being paranoid. The problem is that I can deal with my mother and just tell her directly, but the mother/son thing y'know? I just want to be given some space for us to get used to being parents on our own - is that reasonable?

BabyBolat · 07/04/2009 09:21

Brettgirl - that is completely understandable and completely how I felt.

Actually because of the circumstances and my DIY skills (or lack of), things didn't go to plan for us do we came back to chaos and a house full of 8 people - have had 2 days of lots of people (although only immediate family - mum, dad, granddad and sisters etc) and have told everyone else they can come from easter weekend.

Having said that, I really wanted my parents and sisters around in the past few days - am glad I have today off as such but really did want them there - am lucky as we are quite open so I can tell them when I need a break! Also because of the chaos we changed DH's time off so we are going to have next week together rather than this week so that we can have just family time together then!!

BabyBolat · 07/04/2009 09:23

Brett, to be honest, it just feels normal - I can't explain it - I hate that my house is so upside down and I regret the bathroom hammering now but just feels normal to have Karra here, I know it sounds silly but because he is mine, I don't worry so much about doing things wrong because who is going to tell me off - he is my child!!!

brettgirl2 · 07/04/2009 09:31

My friend said that as well - it was almost as if her LO had always been there.

gingersarah · 07/04/2009 09:31

Maths, how are you feeling today?

Nutty - sounds like pre-labour nerves might be taking their toll on your DH. I think it is probably all starting to feel a bit real to him and he is worried about you, after all you have been through. It's no fun to be on the receiving end of grumpiness though...

Brettgtirl, everyone feels differently about this. I think whatever you want is fine as long as you make sure everyone knows what it is! If you suspect that DH hasn't make things clear to MIL then ... you could "reinforce" it yourself (in a sort of "as you know, our plans are... as DH said..." relaxed chilled tone. Same with your mum, just keep saying it, as if it is all settled and agreed, and not as if you are discussing it, but just referring to "here is the plan".

My mum has a wedding in Spain the weekend after my due date which she is going to go to only if all is well and the baby is here - but even in that case she has lined my sister up to come down and look after me! usually I am very private with family etc but in this case I am feeling very pleased as I don't know how it will be and even if I am a total flake and mean and horrible and grumpy and the house is a tip this is the one time I know my mum and my sister will forgive me. But this is just me.

bronze · 07/04/2009 09:32

Congratulations Fossil and Boff

Thats one a day for the last few days. Whos going to do today?

PuzzleRocks · 07/04/2009 09:33

Brettgirl - We are going to be quite strict about visitors for the first two weeks. It was a nightmare with DD and DH was always running around after people when he should have been enjoying his new daughter too. My Mum is going to take a week off work when DH goes back to work so she can indulge herself then.
We have, half-jokingly been saying that the quality and volume of the champagne they bring will determine how long they get to stay.

BB - Nappies and breast pain as you described are textbook. Sounds like everything is going brilliantly for you both, you are obviously a natural. How are the afterpains?

PuzzleRocks · 07/04/2009 09:36

Yippee Boff, he's here. How do the boys like their new brother? Please post pics and birth story soon, i'm dying to hear. Have you noticed any change in the SPD yet?

bronze · 07/04/2009 10:10

scary. I've just booked my train tickets to the airport. If baby arrives on his due date he'll only be 7 weeks old and I havent flown for 7 years since all the new stuff was brought in so I'm nervous

B52s · 07/04/2009 10:21

Bronze - I think the younger the baby the better for flying. Flying is fine these days - just a little more security and remembering to put your liquids in a poly bag. If you're taking formula made up they like you to taste it. You'll be fine.

surprisenumber3 · 07/04/2009 10:22

Boff - Congrats, what a wonderfully quick labour in the end! Told you he would be born last night

Nutty - I dreamt I woke up and looked on here and there was a message from you saying 'well I beat you all afterall' and you'd had your baby!!!

Taking DS's to soft play today so they can run around and tire themselves out and I can drink coffee and read magazines

Have a good day all, MM - labour vibes coming your way!

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 07/04/2009 10:27

Suprise - if that dream comes true!!!! well lets just say you will be an the recieving end of a very large easter egg have a good day

Schulte · 07/04/2009 10:34

Hurrah for little Felix arriving and Boff doing a turbo birth! Congratulations BoffinMum and I hope you're well on your way to recovery from nasty SPD now.

BB sounds like you're completely on top of things, so pleased for you.

I notice the second time mums who have popped their babies our aren't on a lot... I hope this doesn't mean that it's hell with two children!

I bet it does though...

Schulte · 07/04/2009 10:36

Right, got to go play tea time with DD now.

Schulte · 07/04/2009 10:36

She gets very bossy by the way.. she'll arrange all the cups, saucers and plates and tell you where to sit down but you're not allowed to touch anything let alone pretend you're actually drinking tea! Very funny.

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 07/04/2009 10:45

Schulte - shhhhhhh dont say that!! aww bless your dd very cute!!

OP posts:
brettgirl2 · 07/04/2009 10:55

Nutty - that was my first reaction too, but although I can get my mother to do what I want, I haven't quite got the heart to upset her (first gc, we are v close).

Of course, then if my parents are allowed to visit I have to allow ILs to do the same.

I have specified one hour but the prob is that while my mother lives round here so this is workable ILs live an hour and a half away, so it is a bit of a trip. Oh well, am seeing MIL tomorrow so will try to have a conversation about it with her then (and not offend her lol)

chickaleggjac · 07/04/2009 10:56

Morning guys
Boff - congratulations, well done with speedy labour after such a long build up.
BB - what you eat could determine how windy Karahan is. Whatever is likely to make you fart will certainly make him fart!! Well done with feeding, it's a beautiful thing to be able to do for your baby. Korma poos are normal!
I have a cold sore today, which I'm really annoyed about. Have seen it in the papers recently how dangerous it is for a newborn, so I'm piling on the zovirax, hoping I can get rid of it before the baby comes. IF the baby comes and I still have any remaining bit on my lips, I'll not be able to give my baby a kiss til it heals
What a bloody time to get a cold sore!!!
Definately keeping legs firmly shut for next few days!

lauren61 · 07/04/2009 11:05

congrats boff and fossil =D

i cuda sworn my waters went last night my pants and legs were wet through, havent had any pains today though, very mild ones last night before i woke up wet but nothing now... do u think its anything?? i dont kno if to think its anything or not?!?!

stomach verrrry tight though and not as much movement as usual for this time of day..
