mathshoneybunny27 · 07/04/2009 07:58

I swore I wouldn't at first, then when DD was born I would have done anything to get more than an hour's sleep at a time..but she has never taken to it, even now at 3.5 she needs her space and would hate to be in with mummy and daddy.
We went on holiday last year and had to co-sleep for one night as cot didn't arrive - and she spent three long hours fidgeting and lying on us and generally falling asleep!

I wonder if I will with this lo? Have totally changed my mind now (don't we always) and would if seemed the right thing to do.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 07/04/2009 08:04

i think, like everything else, it depends on the child. DS hates being alone (which is getting annoying but taht's anohter rant!) so it's easier for us to have him in with us. he won't wake up if he can reach over and touch one of us.

PuzzleRocks · 07/04/2009 08:08

Good morning

MrsFossil - Many congratulations. Isla is such a pretty name. Can't wait to hear your birth story and see some photos.
And well done achieving your VBAC.

Schulte · 07/04/2009 08:09

Well not much sleeping going on here have had the third bad night running, lying awake being hot / having period pain / hip pain / having a billion things on my mind. If this goes on for the next 2 weeks I'll go mad.

I like the idea of co-sleeping in theory but wouldn't get ANY sleep if DD was in bed with us, it's bad enough having DH next to me!

Congratulations Mrs Fossil, yes what a beautiful name! Hope things are going well for you.

MM poor you, hope the sweep will work and not just cause useless contractions.

mathshoneybunny27 · 07/04/2009 08:17

I am being sick now I blame DD's porridge, it smells degoutant. Any ideas on what to take for tummy pain?

purplemonkeydishwasher · 07/04/2009 08:20

oh MM

PuzzleRocks · 07/04/2009 08:21

Poor Maths and Schulte. Sorry you are both feeling crap.

Schulte - I am having to sleep naked next to a wide open window and I still wake up boiling hot.

BabyBolat · 07/04/2009 08:24

morning all

CONGRATULATIONS MrsF! how you feeling? beautiful name and well done you - cant wait for story and pics!!!

oooh Nutty, that is annoying about your DH, like everyone has said, he was just taking his frustration on on you but still I would remind him of how you made it up to him when you did the same and say you need something equally lovely please....

MM shame about stopping but if you are having signs then sweep will really make a difference ([fingers crossed emoticon].

Where is Boff, hope she is mooing to full strength now and pushing LO out as I type!! Come on BoffinDad - update us!!!

Night was ok - Karahan a bit more restless than night before but kind of expected it as he had been asleep ALL day in peoples arms so was not enjoying being in his moses basket!! Anyway, today should be calmer and he will be napping in that not in arms (just had to force myself to put him down so I could come and log on and then attempt to tidy up my bomb-site of a house - seriously looks like every room has been hit by a baby or bathroom explosion of some kind!!! but he is so adorable it is really hard to stop cuddling and kissing him!!!)

My boobs are suffering slightly now, I know the latch is right as MW and everyone have checked it but Karahan is such a humungous sucker that feels like I have love bites on my nips - all very tender!!! He has also found his willy and while screaming his head off during nappy changes you have to take cover while he aims his missile at whoever the offending person is (last night was DH, this morning definitely me!!!)

Sorry to ask questions about babies when you are waiting but Karahan moved to brown poo fairly quickly and is now having greeny / yellow poos - although they are quite watery and come out like wet farts - is that normal? He is a very windy baby (like his daddy!!!) which I know they are not supposed to be when they are BF but he likes to be different!!!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 07/04/2009 08:30

BB - BF baby poos are normally yellow. someone once said it was like korma! and they are definitely wet. (pampers newborn diapers are made specially so they soak up the poo, that's how wet they are!)

are your nipples sore throughout the feed or just the beginning?

purplemonkeydishwasher · 07/04/2009 08:31

and LOL at K peeing on you! boys are great for that!

BabyBolat · 07/04/2009 08:35

when he first latches on I get a bit of a piercing pain which dies down a lot when his sucking calms down a bit - am trying to experiment with positions a bit at the moment to help it out but he gets quite ratty at being played around with! annoyingly the latch he likes the most and the one he stays on the longest for (which the mw etc said was right) is the one that hurts the most!!

mathshoneybunny27 · 07/04/2009 08:35

Poo sounds normal chicken korma poo!
Lansinoh for sore nipples - best to prevent the cracking before it happens or they can get really painful. My friend is using breast shields which she swears by so I might give that a go as I suffered last time - and boy do they hurt if they get really cracked/bleeding (sorry BB )

sending cuddles to Karahan - I bet his head smells gorgeous

mathshoneybunny27 · 07/04/2009 08:37

Piercing pain sounds like let-down, possibly - will get better with time.

BabyBolat · 07/04/2009 08:48

yeah once he is on, its fine but every time he latches the first few powerful sucks are like fire so if he is fairly content its fine and he is on there for hours, if he is all fidgety and wriggly it hurts a lot (aka last night where DH got kicked for snoring while I was being sucked to death!!! ) Luckily have no cracks or bleeding, just what look like little purple bruises on the top half of my nipples.

He does smell gorgeous, even after he peed on himself this morning

MM I already have pots of it -it's heaven and walk around with my leaky boobs out whenever possible to let the air get to them - am actually very lucky, he is sleeping and feeding so well and not really that demanding as a baby (she says - give it a few weeks) so if sore nips and stitches are all I have to suffer with, I am fine with that!!!

So what's the plan of action today MM? How are we getting this baby out???

BabyBolat · 07/04/2009 08:49

thanks re poo, yeah looks like post-korma poo!!!!

mathshoneybunny27 · 07/04/2009 08:49

i was thinking pineapple, long walk, sex...

but am feeling a bit sorry for myself as i can't keep anything down so currently getting an amazing cuddle from DD on the sofa!

BabyBolat · 07/04/2009 08:52

that sounds like a better idea - I ate so much pineapple and walked lots and nothing - seriously you need a sledge hammer - if Boff's baby is born soon I am going to write a book on bringing on labour via bathroom DIY!!!

gingersarah · 07/04/2009 08:58

[drum roll]

"Felix David Gordon (Boffin) arrived 10.23 last night, 7 lb 9 ox, 2 days of frustrating latent labour but once things gor going properly it was very fast indeed (2 hours 50 minutes first stage and 5 minutes second stage - new personal best!). Calm and happy baby and mum."

YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!

B52s · 07/04/2009 09:00

Morning
Congrats Mrs Fossil and BB! (Haven't been on here in a while). BB I used to get the piercing pain at the start of bf-ing too, made me grit my teeth for a few seconds, then was fine. Every nappy change was a yellow runny one too - apparently normal for poo in every nappy to poo once every 5 days! How much washing are you doing now?

Got a MW appt this morning (I'm 38 weeks today) and a filling at the dentist this arvo - as long as I don't have anaesthetic I should be fine.

Where are all the overdue babies?

JuwEggsm · 07/04/2009 09:00

Yayyyyyyy! Congratulations Family Boff and welcome to lovely baby Felix!

B52s · 07/04/2009 09:01

Ah, there's one. Congratulations Boff!!!

BabyBolat · 07/04/2009 09:02

YAY BOFFIN!!!! OH MY GOD SO VERY VERY PLEASED!!!

5 minutes - I thought my 45 mins pushing was fast - wow Boff you are amazing - I think it was our moo-cheer leading getting her through it!!!

Great weight, great name - go Boff!!!

Was literally about to go and tidy and now I am too giddy!!!!

BabyBolat · 07/04/2009 09:04

B52 - did a load yesterday just for baby stuff and have a pile of clothes and stuff waiting to be attacked so a lot this week it would seem - also Karra isn't in his washables yet as he is a bit to small for them (has a very very tiny bum and legs) so sure once those start I will be on it every day!!!
