phd - i think its on page 12? 11? of this thread

OP posts:
SpringySponge · 06/04/2009 11:56

phd, BB's birth story was posted on this thread at 09:56:13

phdlife · 06/04/2009 11:59

I know nutty. but still, it is just making me having already argued why I do want vbac and didn't want a sizing scan, and done my researcdh to argue about why I won't be having cfm/canula/augmentation/time limit on 2nd stage - fgs I'm the one having the baby, fed up with having to battle to do it my way!

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 06/04/2009 12:03

Springy - you feeling a bit better today?? xx

Phd - ((hugs)) just stand your ground, sounds like its been quite frustrating for you, but like you have said you have done your reasearch and you want to do it your way which is fair enough, good luck with the consultant i hope they arent too pushy xx

OP posts:
surprisenumber3 · 06/04/2009 12:03

no, that is perfect thanks ginger!

SpringySponge · 06/04/2009 12:07

phd, stick to your guns. I know it must be really frustrating but it is your body & you've done the research. You're capable of making your own decisions, so don't let them hassle you into something you won't be happy with xx

& Nutty, I am feeling a bit better. Still grumpy, but not evil like I have for the last few days. Spent a lot of last night telling DH how much I love him & how I'm sorry that I'm always horrible, blah blah blah. Then we did have sex, but not because I was hoping to induce labour but because it was actually really nice to have sex right then - we've not had sex like that in ages

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 06/04/2009 12:09

Springy - yay for lovely smoochy love sex, thats fantastic glad you're feeling a bit better ((hugs))

OP posts:
SpringySponge · 06/04/2009 12:12

I really have been awful to him for months. & he doesn't snap at me. The only time he's snapped at me recently, despite everything, was when I hit him in the balls. & I cried & told him that it wasn't fair.

I don't actually know how he's managing to stay even remotely sane with me at the moment. He just says 'it's not your fault, it's the hormones, I wish I could make it better for you, but I understand...' & stuff like that. It makes me feel really guilty!

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 06/04/2009 12:23

Springy - try not too feel so bad (easier said than done, i know) you really cant help it, he is right its the pesky hormones. i know that sometimes you just want them to get a bit angry too so you can have a bit of a row and get it out of your system (i have done this!, which is awful i know, but sometimes you just want to rage at something or someone and it tends to be those closest to you) but dh doesn't bite and it sometimes makes you feel worse cos they're so damn understanding xx ((hugs)) it will all be over soon and normality will be restored xx

OP posts:
phdlife · 06/04/2009 12:27

ooh bb's birth story [queasy] Nice ending though

I've been all grumpy with dh too, glad to hear it's not just me. Quite a lot Some of it is justified but the evil combination of hormones and sleep deprivation do seem to overwhelm calm, rational discussion alarmingly often atm

phdlife · 06/04/2009 12:28

oh and am I the only one getting up for snacks in the night TWICE?

SpringySponge · 06/04/2009 12:29

That's what I've promised him. That one day I'll be normal again. Well. I say normal... I mean I won't be a homicidal bitch every minute of the day.

I just really want to be a mummy now! I'm fed up of being pregnant & I want to have a baby to cuddle! I'm glad that we're all in this together, though. I think I'd think I was insane if I didn't have you all to compare notes with!

I wonder how the babying's coming along for people today. Still no new word from MM & Mrs Fossil... & Boff's gone very quiet again.

SpringySponge · 06/04/2009 12:38

I don't get up for snacks, but mostly because I have to get up for Rennies instead. & I go to bed really late & am practically passing out with hunger by the time I get up. Getting up for snacks would probably be much more sensible.

& it's definitely not just you being grumpy with your DH.

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 06/04/2009 12:38

no snacks here Phd but am wide awake lot during the night.

Springy - i know!! it's so very quiet round here lately there must be some updates if not baby news soon!!!!!

You will be a mummy very soon, promise you just have a very comfy tummy but turfing out time will come soon xx

OP posts:
SpringySponge · 06/04/2009 12:41

If he doesn't come soon I'm going to start a nationwide tour of April ladies who do have babies & just turn up at your homes demanding cuddles with your LOs. & I won't care how mad I seem. Oh no.

phdlife · 06/04/2009 12:43

oh yes wide awake too. plus 5 pees and at least one session having to stretch cranky hip/bum muscles

on an amusing note - was at dsis's for tea last night. I say, "oof, that baby's sure sitting some funny way". She (MW) feels and says, "no, stupid, you're having BH, that's a really good one!" Later she said she could see them from across the room!

BoeuffinMum · 06/04/2009 13:16

Still no movements here.

MW instructed me to stay as active as possible, so I have painted the downstairs loo with DH's help doing the top bits and all the clearing up, and it looks very nice. Same colour as upstairs bathroom (v pale beige) because we have recycle leftover tiles, an offcut of carpet and half a tin of paint we had left. So it's basically been a free makeover. The finish is a bit lacking if you look close up, but bearing in mind I did 10 minutes' prep I think we did OK.

Made spaghetti bolognaise for lunch, followed by pineapple (!)

Neighbours have offered to have boys for a second night, thank goodness, otherwise we would have had to farm them out around the village like little nomads with their giraffe and turtle backpacks, poor things.

Head is so low I would not be surprised to look down and see the head hanging out as I pottered around.

brettgirl2 · 06/04/2009 13:21

My RL friend (due on the first) has had her baby - 9lb6oz little girl.

Brilliant birth story BB, little bit scary though too.

AuldAlliance · 06/04/2009 13:30

I am also wide awake at night; in spite of a totally sleepness night, I have been supermarket shopping and am now about to clean the kitchen, bathroom and living room in preparation for FIL's arrival. An energy burst like this happened last week, too, so don't think it means labour is imminent, but is a bit surprising.

Boff, am v impressed by your painting. Sounds as if your DH is feeling better, too, and it's nice you have a bit of time just the two of you before the baby maelstrom hits!

I suspect DS may have conjunctivitis (or just a pus-filled eye like his Papa?), in which case he'll not be able to go to school as of tomorrow, so good thing FIL and his lovely DP will be around to help.

Have just had another call from estate agents, a new one to whom the landlady has kindly passed on my number. Am going to call landlady and ask for a reprieve for the next week/10 days/however long baby takes to arrive, because I am starting to find her a bit out of line dishing out my number to all and sundry so they can come and take pictures of my house when she knows I'm about to pop any day now.
And frankly, the idea of people viewing in the weeks after the birth, waking up the baby by tramping through the house, is not a happy one either...

Went to the PO today to collect a parcel; waited ages feeling, like Boff, as if baby's head was hanging out. 4 people were served before the lady in front of me said I could take her turn. Probably wise as I might have keeled over on top of her due to intense sciatic pain. Parcel contained this as well as some unguents and ointments and sprays for perineal relief after birth. Maybe a bit late for my mama bee belly (though I don't seem to have any stretch marks), but it is lovely stuff and smells really nice.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 06/04/2009 13:43

oh BB what a time you had!! but a happy ending! yay!

i just soooo do not have any energy today. i usually go swimming on mondays but i couldn't be bothered with all the school kids out and about didn't want to chance it being mobbed.

auld - can you end some of that energy burst my way?

well done on painting the bathroom boff! fingers crossed that things will start to move soon.

springy - checking that baby's still breathing is normal. like surprise i still do it with DS. (actually when i was about 20wks or so i was checking him A LOT. one of my friends said she did the same when she was pregnant) thankfully he's right beside me in bed so i can check him and fall back asleep right away (well, in theory anyway!)

AuldAlliance · 06/04/2009 13:46

Sure Purple, I seem to have lots to spare.
Well, actually, have been sitting on my a*se reading the UK papers online since I last posted, but am now about to spring waddle into action with the hoover.

chickaleggjac · 06/04/2009 13:49

Hi everyone,
BB - your birth story is amazing, well done for getting through all of that in one piece! Your little man sounds absolutely gorgeous.
Boff - sorry things have slowed down for you, it must be pretty frustrating. Try not to get too disheartened though, it'll all happen very soon.
Well I said bye to my little man today, poor thing got so many hugs and kisses before he left with daddy for the train. He'll be on tha plane right now, due to land at 14.13. I'm always so proud of him, he takes everything in his stride and today is the start of a huge adventure for him.
Once I said bye to him, I went to mothercare to try and buy a nursing bra. Debenhams measured me a few weeks ago. Before pg I was 34B and debenhams measured me as 36B, saying they move up chest size now instead of cup size
Anyway after a good few attempts in mothercare on my own, and finding nothing that would fit me, I finally caved and asked for help. A really lovely and very patient woman spent ages with me, measured me as 34E and their bras fit me perfectly. Couldn't believe it, what a difference. Fair enough boobs change in pg but to go from 36B to 34E, I think it was more down to different sizing methods between 2 stores rather than pg.
Anyway, although I was happy with size, I wasn't convinced about the actual style of the bras they had. Underneath the drop down part which opens for feeding is an elastic strap, obviously for support, but it was the fact that it was still a strap right down the side of my boob. I left it, thinking I'd come back another time, at least I knew what size I was.
Anyway went to tesco then and just out of interest, tried their own make nursing bras. Found out they are super comfy, very good fit, shoulder straps much better for support, and they dont have the elastic strap across your boob when the cup drops down, they have like a quarter of a cup with nipple out, which is loads more comfortable. Plus 2 for £8 compared to mothercare's £26 for 2!
So I bought them instead
Sorry for extra huge post about nursing bras but thought I'd pass on the tip!
Feeling great today, I'm totally ready (stuff wise) for the baby to come now. Just need to get head ready

mathshoneybunny27 · 06/04/2009 14:25

hello all - nothing much doing here either still contracting but very weird back pain and contractions feel like they are too high up - stomach and top of bump. Boff I'm glad you haven't beat me yet . Not sure whether to walk around or sleep or hwat really - poor DH is having kittens as he has to work Wed and doesn't know whether to cancel or not..

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 06/04/2009 14:28

Boffin - well done with the bathroom you labouring ladies and bathrooms??? what is it with you lot hopefully it should get things going for you though now maybe if you could find some tiles to hammer off or something to demolish that would really get you going xxx seriously i hope the active thing is going well for you (i guess it is if you have done the bathroom )

Auld - yay for the energy bursts!! and the burts bees parcel

Chicka - yay for cheap, well fitting nursing bras

gingersarah · 06/04/2009 14:31

Thanks Chick for the bra tip - I might go down to Tesco this afternoon.

Or... I might stay in doing exciting financial products research - I am really pathetically upset with what is happening with my attempts to get life assurance. I have started an AIBU thread about it and so far no one has flamed me!
