fi my baby girl is head down and has been for ages. I feel the worst kicks on my right side under my ribs as she is laying with her back on my left. I get tickly ones around my...'area' lol When I poke around I always feel a hard lump right between my breasts (her butt?)and I can follow the hardness all down my left side (thinking it would be her spine). She loves to stretch with her feet jammed in my ribs...lovely!

Does that help at all? lol

Quick question to all. I know I mentioned my MW appointment earlier and said that I am measuring small. Is anyone else measuring small? I may have to go for a scan and at first I was ok with it, but now the more I think about it the more I am getting myself worried...just wondering if anyone else has the same problem?

divedaisy · 02/04/2009 21:15

Fikelly I had a scan yesterday (found out I'm having a pinky!!) and head is down. Now where am I getting the strongest kicks??? Over at the right side of my belly button and going on round to the right where my waist used to be, but also feeling movement (like hiccups) to the left of the belly button... SOmetimes I feel like Ive got an octopus in there as there seems no way that 2 arms and 2 legs can contort so much!!! ANd then I occassionally get fanjo and bottom kicks - they really hit a nerve and feel like an arm/leg will fall out!!! And I have what feels to me like an empty space below my left ribs... This doesn't read like it will help you very much...

daizydoo · 02/04/2009 21:21

emmabemma - I am 34 weeks and according to my midwife I measure 32cm. However I do have a growth scan next week as everyone is expecting me to have another giant I'll let you know what happens...

divedaisy · 02/04/2009 21:23

emmabemmasmom - you feel her butt between your breasts??? That's very high I think I understand what you mean though!! As for measuring small - I am too and that's why the Dr I saw yesterday referred me to have growth scan. The sonographer told me that she had been getting a lot of referrals for small bumps, but that they all are scanning perfectly well within dates. She wondered if there were new guidelines/procedures ... don't know really, but I do know that a week ago a student mw measured me something like 26cms and the mw measured me 30-31cms and that was at 32+4. TBH neither seemed very confident about their measurements - they kinda looked at each other questioningly (proper word??) ANd neither have I been measured by the same person twice! Either that or there's a batch of dodgy tape-measures out there!!

Belgianchocolates · 02/04/2009 21:26

Right I've sort of caught up. I'll probably forget to mention a fair few of you by name, so apologies beforehand!

chocbunnies I'm so happy for you that you've enjoyed your outing with dd. You must feel so proud of yourself and it sounds like you're on a real high. Keep hold of that feeling and think of it every time you go out and try to talk yourself out of it

Emmalina How annoying about your hospital appointment.

looby Insulin always needs a bit of tinkering to find the right dose. They always start you on a fairly low dose and then increase it until you've got the right dose for you.

dandy Still get the bigger size. I'm afraid that with my 1st baby I was shocked to realise that my belly hadn't really got all that much smaller after ds was born! So if it's pj's and a nightie for hospital you're after, you'll have to wear your preg size I'm afraid. Don't worry though, the worst of your belly goes down within a week. I find the Next sizing spot on my size 12 jeans are perfect fit and I'm normally an 11, well, OK a 10-12.

I've got a 'good luck' nightie to labour it. I wore it with ds and dd, it never really got too dirty and it's the only time I've ever worn it. I kept it after ds and because I had an easy delivery I kept it for good luck for any future babies. It's a size 14 (way too big) mothercare bf nightie

I think I'm going next week for a bf bra, I'll get something fairly cheap for now, because my breasts expanded an awful lot with both of the dcs once my milk came in (went from D to F cup). I'm already an E-F cup now in pregnancy, so dread to think what will happen to them this time. My areola and nipples are already way bigger than ever before. Fi I've got the same problem, it's better now than back with ds, when no one did nursing bras in a 32 back, but still, it's so annoying that they assume that people with small backs don't bf or don't get big cup sizes.

divedaisy A girl. Congrats. I tell you those 1st nappies were so weird. I had a ds and then a dd. There was just something missing Cara is nice, BTW. Oh and at you spa day. Oh and another thing: a CTG is a cardio toco graph, which is the trace out the monitor produces if you're monitored in labour.

My dcs talk Dutch to me and so they call me mama, not mum or mom or ma.

I think that I'll double check if I've got everything in my labour bag. I think I do, but I'm not sure. After Spangle's excitement, it's better to check.

I've got my lovely bump pictures tomorrow. I'm very excited and hope that I'll get some lovely pictures of bump and the dcs for a birth announcement card. Oh and to who ever it was that stole ideas for a card from my link: I don't mind at all!

fi Gosh, it would be great if they could get your walk in storage room done before lo arrives. I hope they can do it. I'm crossing my fingers for you.

Right, I better go to dh. He doesn't understand why I'm talking to you guys evevery day and he doesn't understand why I'm excited about Spangle's baby. I told him that it's just nice to chat to other women who are in the same boat, because you need that as a pregnant mum.

OK, I think I've caught up now Oh and I'm enjoying my non-virtual glass of wine btw , just a shame I can't have any non-virtual sushi to go with it.

Belgianchocolates · 02/04/2009 21:29

Gosh, that was a long post.

divedaisy · 02/04/2009 21:32

Are your typing fingers OK Belgian??

pulapula · 02/04/2009 21:33

emmabemmasmom

I always measure small (will be back to MW on Monday to check again) and my babies are always above 90th centile ie amongst the 10% biggest so i've stopped worrying when everyone thinks i'm only 6 months gone or says how small i am. Had a private 4d scan which showed LO was measuring a week ahead of dates...so try not to worry too much about it.

FiKelly · 02/04/2009 21:33

think our girl might still be NOT head down.. all the movement/kicks I get are below my belly button on either side. mw thought lo was horizontal the other day.. from kicks and tickles I think this still might be the case grrr. lo was head down since feb wonder what made her shift now?!

divedaisy your scan news and def helps with name choosing..

hi all, hope everyone is well tonight.

i wore the H&M t shirt dress for last labour (non maternity, just a size bigger). ended up in the pool so it came off but - even though I'm usually self-conscious - I didn't care.

about baby position, MW wasn't certain at last week's appt but heard the heart down low suggesting baby breech. that's why i'm going back tomorrow to see if baby is still breech. i know at 35+ wks there still is a little time and i'm trying to sit/sleep in all the right positions to encourage baby in the right position, but we'll see.

Belgian, well done on the presentation and hope you're now enjoying that glass of wine.

FiKelly · 02/04/2009 21:52

dandy take it easy in bed.. hope you're feeling all better tomorrow. sounds like your dd took v good care of her mummy too.

Momino · 02/04/2009 21:54

dandy, glad you're feeling better, take it easy. really sweet the way your DD laid with you and sang nursery rhymes. bless.

llareggub · 02/04/2009 22:18

Loads of messages again! I must have a catch-up. I'm just back from Sainsburys where I have bought lots of goodies for my hospital bag. I got a bit carried away but did pick up some teeny tiny nappies and they brought a little tear to my eye. MIL buys all of our nappies (long story, I wanted reusables but she bought 3 months supply of disposables) so we've never really bought nappies. It was quite exciting! Good to choose the eco-brand rather than the Pampers, I felt all rebellious!

Quick question, this may sound weird. Driving home tonight I swear it felt like the baby was trying to claw his way out. It really felt like his fingers were tugging onto things inside, really low down. Its probably impossible, but that is just how it felt. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? I don't remember anything like that with DS.

FiKelly · 02/04/2009 22:24

I used to feel movement like that until lo moved recently..

FiKelly · 02/04/2009 22:27

I too got all gooey buying the tiny nappies etc

Momino · 02/04/2009 22:30

funny, dh and I were just this moment talking about buying tiny nappies and getting broody. gotta pack my bag this weekend too.

LoobyLou36 · 02/04/2009 22:35

Evening ladies.
WARNING: Long post

I've had an eventful visit to the hospital today. Saw the diabetic specialist first who advised that I have insulin with breakfast and lunch, c how I get on with that dose for 3 days then if no effect to double the dose.
Then I saw the midwife - wee and bp fine.
Then I saw the consultants registrar who's people skills were negligible. She told me immediately that I would have to be induced at 38 weeks I asked her if this was because of the risk of a large baby and she said no it was because of the sugar. She then examined me, baby is head down I asked if I would be having a growth scan because of the gd and she said no and got her tape measure out to measure me - she measured 32cm (I'm 35+4). This would mean that I'd shrunk since last measurement. I wasn't happy with her measurement and so asked again if I would be given a growth scan - at this point she got quite arsey with me but said she'd check with the consultant.
I waited and she came back and told me that yes the consultant said I should have a scan.
So next stop was the sonographer, she measured LO and said the weight was approx 7lb 4!! and referred me back to the snotty registrar. Went back and she immediately started telling me that I'd definetly be induced and quite likely end up with a cs due to shoulder dystacia at this point I got upset.
She went and got the consultant who managed to explain to me what she had so bluntly told me and calm me down

So that's it I'm booked in for the 18th April - I'll be 37+6.

I did have a lovely meeting with a MW last who tried to reassure me and explained about induction. She also showed me how to express and said that I need to start doing that now to give LO the best start.

Momino · 02/04/2009 22:36

llareggub, did you get food goodies as well? i'm trying to figure out what to pack as snacks for hospital but can only come up with cereal bars. boring.

divedaisy · 02/04/2009 22:37

Dandy yes it was me with the doggy situation... still have them... don't knwo whether to be happy or sad about it to be honest... but they are part of the family and follow me around protecting me (though usulally they get under my feet - can't see them over bump!) Poos still in garden. DH will HAVE To lift them tomorrw cos were getting oil delivered and I don't want the oil man to have to tip toe through the 'roses'!!! Hope you feel well soon xx bless your wee dd for rubbing your back and singing to you!! AWH!!

llareggub - if the feeling is very nervey I get it too and as I posted earlier feels like a hand or foot is about to pop out of my fanjo or bum!! It does get your attention!! In a sorta way!!

Anyway had a look at bf nightwear and will make do with what I have already. Have 2 pairs of BF PJs and nightes that'll do the job OK... Have to remind myself to not panic!!!

Oh and have packed my bag for the Spa!!!!!!!!!

LoobyLou36 · 02/04/2009 22:39

Time spent at hospital 3hrs 15mins

I had to ring work and tell them I wouldn't be going back in this afternoon as I didn't leave the hospital till 5.15.

All in all its been a bit of a shit day

Momino · 02/04/2009 22:42

oh looby, just crossed posted and read yours - are you ok now? has it sunk in? reminds me of when they told me i was to be induced when i had dd1. i cried for awhile but felt better the next day and knew it was best for baby.
how annoying was that registrar ... i'm sorry you had to go through this and hope you try to get a good sleep tonight to clear your head. big hug to you.

Momino · 02/04/2009 22:46

good night and see you all sometime tomorrow.

LoobyLou36 · 02/04/2009 22:47
