Emmalina thanks, that's what I thought but I thought I'd better check! I am so clueless its beginning to scare me.

detsy would def phone Dr or MW. could it be baby sitting on some nerve or something? Maybe try sitting/lying in someway to get them to move??

llare we had a room at the back of our house that had no heating and 3 outside walls - used to use it for drying washing which would freeze in winter. The summer we moved out Mr S turned it into an 8th bedroom

grumpy been meaning to say for ages, your posts always make me you have brilliant way with words.

Right I am going out, leaky boobs and all. Might try to buy myself some new shoes... am having trouble with reaching the laces on my converse.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 07/04/2009 14:18

Thank you runningmonkey

Hi all.
have been in all day as we're waiting for delivery of some kitchen things - but couldn't they have come this morning? I wanted to go out to the park with the girls this afternoonn but looks like we'll have to stick around the house.

i've packed half the things i need and only just washed the baby clothes (were already clean but sitting in a dusty bag under the bed so just want to be safe).

One thing I want to do on the days dd's at nursery is to make bulk goods like chili and pasta sauce, etc for the girls whilst we're at hospital.

may i just complain about heartburn? it's maddening but I seem to get it mainly when i'm drinking. even plain water gives me heartburn. annoying.

oh, also not too much (ahem) discharge here but I remember that being a normal thing the last 2 pregnancies. so why different this time? i'm sure the lack of d/ch is another thing to worry about . i just hope it doesn't mean i'll be late on my 1/5 edd. i'm ready now!

alapala · 07/04/2009 14:24

OMG

I go offline for 1 Week and not only do I miss about 1000 messages but a birth too. WELL DONE SPANGLE, and any other?? - I havent read through yet. Been having just too much fun with the inlaws visting including my first ever car accident (just a big scrape) ever with them in the car OF ALL PEOPLE. And I swore my head off, which they really disaprove of ]. And DS has turned 2 and into a right naughty toddler. More house guests tomorrow..

sausagenmash · 07/04/2009 14:58

Right. It's official. I start maternity leave next week. Alle-bloody-lujah! Told my consultant and all he said was "ah, right, well, make sure x is done, and the list for y, and sort out z" Pah.

Where do I get redbush tea???? I LOVE mma ramotswe ("why are you not happy, Happy Popetse? That is not a good story!") I WANT SOME!!!!

God. My hospital bag is nearly done and is rammed. Mostly full of crap like sanitary towels (ugh), teeny nappies (hehe) and a towel. And other stuff, like toiletries, t-shirts and babygros. Wooooo how exciting!

Hahaha, someone in my office just said the d/chge word!!! (but it was in 'patient to be d/chged' rather than 'gooey stuff from la-la area') I'm so immature..

Tummum · 07/04/2009 15:13

Grumpy ROFL re: your hospital bag list Know exactly what you mean.

Can't remember who posted about the twitching eye - I've had this all the way through being pg, and have just this minute noticed it's gone away. Yay ! Must be being on ML

Saus yay ! Enjoy !

Well, having had a really nice first day of ML, DD2 has decided to be a complete PITA today. Went shopping with DC and Nanny and she (DD2, not Nanny) had a complete tantrum in the middle of the shops. Then wouldn't get in car. Then wouldn't eat lunch. Then wouldn't get down from the table. You get the idea.... I think she is getting used to me being home and testing the boundaries with having 2 parental figures around at the same time. Could be interesting when LO turns up to...

Now going to order the stuff I need for the birthing pool as I can no longer deny that I am supposed to be having a baby in the next 4 weeks. Eeek. (I do sometimes catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror / windows and get a shock that I am pregnant Weird I am ! )

pulapula · 07/04/2009 15:16

Afternoon ladies,

I am officially working at home this afternoon, which means I've done an hour and now i feel sick as i've broken into one of my easter eggs and i've sat around looking at early photos of DD and DS (ahh) and thinking about this new LO. I've uploaded a few onto my profile if you want to see some wrinkly, puffy little ones in the hours after they were born.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 07/04/2009 15:26

sausage

Glad you've been discharged early onto ML next week.

Redbush tea - Supermarket-wise, Tick Tock, Tetley and Rooibush brands are all in Tesco, usually on a bottom shelf (yeah, thanks guys), Asda do several (including my favourite - Dragonfly Rooibush Breakfast) and Sainsburys do the same I think. Unsurprisingly, the tea usually comes in red boxes.........

I am loving the title of the new No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency book - 'Teatime For the Traditionally Built' - I'm feeling that way today.

Hypatia · 07/04/2009 15:28

Hello everyone - gosh you all have been busy. I have been snowed over at work (and outside - can I just say it is cruel that we have almost 10cm of snow today! - the robins outside my window are pissed) so haven't been able to check in.

Had an appointment yesterday - was told I was getting the Strep B swab but they've pushed that back to next week.

Blood pressure is creeping up, so they want to monitor that a little, I guess due to pre-e? Also had protein and glucose in the urine test.

The doctor also said the baby is measuring small now - it did grow a bit from my last appt, but not as much as expected. So I am trying not to worry about that, I guess at my next appt. if there is a problem they will have an indication then. I have to go weekly to the doctor now, and have all my appointments lined up - somehow that has made it seem all too close!

Baby feels all arms and legs, but is head down, so that is good!

There's a bit of a pool in the office about when I will go into labour, everyone thinks way early. I hope not, I have too much to do before then! Last day of work is May 1.

Febes · 07/04/2009 15:52

DD is driving me crazy she is still a bit teething grizzly but much better than yesterday. I just opened the door to the garden as I was in the kitchen doing some jobs and she kept bringing me stuff from the washing machine so I decided to encourage her to be outside I would go and sit outside. She then starting bringing me handfuls of dirt Then she started throwing handfuls of dirt inside the conservatory. Sigh. So now we are back inside with cbeebies on. Bad mummy [bshame]. I will whip her outside again before DH gets home so he thinks I have been playing nicely with her today. I just want to sit and eat today [bshame].

Febes · 07/04/2009 15:54

Sausage does that mean you can join us next week at our South London meet up???

runningmonkey · 07/04/2009 16:13

Right back from shops. Correct vests purchased and added to pile of babythings to wash. Also got a nice pair of pink pumps for £9.99 in tk maxx, they're v comfy and no more bending to do laces for me - yay!

sausage you have inspired me. I am going in on the monday after the easter hols and asking to finish a few days earlier than planned. My replacement starts that day so I won't be teaching lessons. I've finished the courses with the A level students so all they need to do is revise and so I won't have anything to do anyway and frankly, I'm enjoying being off work so much I can't be arsed oops hope noone I work with is reading this.

Also lol at 'gooey stuff from lala area'

daizydoo · 07/04/2009 16:45

Well I'm back from my scan and hospital appt. I'm still none the wiser - the Dr's keep telling me its my decision. The registrar managed to fudge round all my questions and they reckon they can't use head measurements at my advanced state of pregnancy Have sort of agreed to try to give a natural birth a go with an agreed opt out clause at any time. They reckon the baby weighs about 6lb at the moment. The good thing is I get another scan at 39 weeks so I don't actually have to make a decision now. Sorry for the ramble...

Belgianchocolates · 07/04/2009 17:40

daizy You'll have to have a think. Going for a natural birth with an opt out clause sounds good. Gives you some flexibility when you change your mind.

Redbush/rooibos tea is kept at eye level in my supermarket(s). Maybe it's more popular around here?

I've just thought of another thing to put in your hospital bag: Pen and paper. It's useful for making lists for dh if he needs to go back home to fetch stuff, because if you don't write it down they're bound to forget something, especially the first time dads, because they tend to be so overwhelmed by the whole meeting their baby thing that their brain seems to have left them. Oh and don't bring the car seat in until you're actually going home. So many people bring it in with them during labour and it just tends to be in the way.

sausage and runningmonkey enjoy your extra weeks mat leave. Make the most of it.

Don't know what this lo is doing in there, but my ribs on my right side are seriously aching now. I'm trying to stretch and lean the other way, but it seems to be big enough to just stretch along with the extra space

Belgianchocolates · 07/04/2009 17:41

sausage d/charge, lol

PaulaMummyKnowsBest · 07/04/2009 17:42

anyone here want a trainee birth doula at all?

I am based in St Albans, so you need to be within about a 40 minute drive of me (as does the birth place of your choice!)

Blottedcopybook · 07/04/2009 17:42

Tummum Maybe it's something in the water? My DD has been a PITA all day as well, refused to take a nap and I eventually lost patience and packed her in the car to go get DS2 from nursery and hubby from work an hour early - she was asleep before I was out of the estate. Typical!

detsy · 07/04/2009 17:58

grrrr, day is getting worse...
Left leg is still attached to body (just about) still bloody hurts but think it is a baby on a nerve thing. Had to drive in a one legged fashion to get Lots from nursery as they think she has impetigo - they've had 2 cases this week. She had red spots on her mouth this morning but checked with HV who said it was just chapped skin. Now there are more and they are blistery. She's also a bit whingey cos she had jabs. SO back to docs tomo for 2nd opinion - i don't know anything about impetigo??

Tummum · 07/04/2009 17:59

Blotted glad it's not just me. Yet more tantrums from DD2 about nonsense this afternoon (e.g. me going downstairs ??!). I'm sure she is knackered but she had the normal dose of sleep. I like the tie 'em down into a car seat solution - just wish I had somewhere to go.

DD1 now acting up. SIgh. I'm sure they know when I am at the very end of my tether and about to EXPLODE and act accordingly.

Praise the lord for Cbeebies as a proxy baby sitter !

detsy · 07/04/2009 18:04

Wrote that ages ago but never posted it - gave DD some chamomile and she seems a bit better and she's had lots of tea so hopefully will sleep well. She also keeps holding her wrist and complaining Its not swollen or anything but am now freaking that she has a greenstick fracture or some such other nightmare.

Dp promised to be back early....he's just left Leeds..... bloody men

Tummum · 07/04/2009 18:19

Dets my DH was due home to put kids to bed. They're going to bed in 20 mins. I live in Northampton. He's still in Gloucester 'sorting something out'

detsy · 07/04/2009 18:30

i'm with you tum - mine is on m62 bout another 45 min away. lots going for bath routine now....

Blottedcopybook · 07/04/2009 18:34

Detsy My DD had impetigo then hand, foot and mouth last week, when it started I thought it was just an eczema outbreak. She eventually had spots all round her mouth which blistered then scabbed, she also had it quite badly on her hands. It's also worth bearing in mind that hand, foot and mouth seems to be doing a turn again just now - check inside her mouth and on the soles of her feet for little spots.

Tummum I find when they're at that stage of PITA-ness, even a journey up and down the motorway for half an hour is bliss. Better yet, if I have a half-decent CD on I can't hear the kids and can pretend I'm being serenaded

Well ladies - I'm very chuffed. DS2 is mad for Thomas the Tank Engine but one of his trains broke in a rather dodgy manner the other day so I emailed the company that manufactures them on Saturday to tell them what happened. Got an email back yesterday asking me to send the train back and offering to replace it - fine by me! This afternoon a big package arrived by courier with a replacement train AND an additional two trains by way of an apology - all addressed to DS2. He's over the moon of course and they've certainly retained a customer in me.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 07/04/2009 18:51

Sympathy to all with DC's being little sods.

DD2 insisted on making butterfly cakes with pink buttercream. She doesn't like the icing now. I made a chicken pasta bake that started life as chicken cacciatore, but the sauce got a bit overcooked thanks to DH's Nana ringing. DD2 decided that she doesn't like chicken now and insisted that I hand-fed her as she was 'so tired'. She has been in and out of the fridge all afternoon, every time I am momentarily tied up, eating cheese, yoghurts......'Can I have a drink' 9000 times. She has changed her clothes 5 times and I know she will have discarded the clothes all over the landing and her bedroom.....

I still have bath and hairwash to face and DH is not likely to be home until well after 8 (so after bedtime) and I don't think he believes me when I say I'm shattered. After all, I'm sitting around at home

God, Grumpy, stop bloody whining woman!!!!!!!!

belgian @ Redbush tea being accessible in your supemarkets

blotted that's fantastic about the train, how lovely to hear of great customer service for a change.
