Ginger -

You could try contacting local hosp and see if they have a breast-care nurse specialist, and then see if you could contact her for a general chat. Explain symptoms and say you don't feel GP understands and won't give you a referral, and you are worried. Not sure what she'd be able to do, but it is possible there might be some kind of drop-in clinic that doesn't need referral.

PuzzleRocks · 01/04/2009 12:33

[kicks landlord in nuts]

Don't feel stupid about seeking another opininon. This is your health, you have every right to demand to be seen. I hope you get the reassurance you need.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 01/04/2009 12:34

Puzzle thats what i call a good bollocking

Ju - If my hayfever hasn't cleared up by the time the baby arrives, is there anything I can safely take whilst breastfeeding? Thanks.

bronze · 01/04/2009 12:41

honey (local)

PuzzleRocks · 01/04/2009 12:43

Really? That's ace, i'm more than happy to consume vast amounts of honey for medicinal purposes. Thanks.

Juwesm · 01/04/2009 12:48

Puzzle - from what I can find, both Zirtek (cetirizine) and Clarityn (loratidine) should be fine. See respectable website here. Imagine GP might be reluctant to prescribe, but referral to that site might help. Plus also topical things like cromoglicate eye drops if eye symptoms are particularly troublesome. Plus local honey as per Bronze!

Imagine there are lots of homeopathic things you could try, though I would not know where to start. There's a homeopathic hosp in Brizzle I think - don't know if you can just call them/ their pharmacy for advice!

BabyBolat · 01/04/2009 12:48

Ginger, I have the close parent pop-in nappies - have no idea what they are like but they were the ones I felt the most comfortable with so we will see.

You have every right to demand to be seen and get second, third and fourth opinions if you feel you need, them, I still can't quite believe that they didn't at the very least run some test or send you for a breast scan thing (mamogram??) to rule out anything serious!!

If you will get a better house for less money - would it be horrendous to move? Might be worth looking in to it and see what you can get!!

BabyBolat · 01/04/2009 12:51

I expect Bleu is off with DH finishing things off as it was his last day yesterday xx

BabyBolat · 01/04/2009 12:52

didnt she mention sanding and painting the crib again?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 01/04/2009 12:55

BB - yep i think she did

Thanks Ju.

BabyBolat · 01/04/2009 13:01

oh kitty - good luck with the plumber - lets hope he is better in the bathroom than me!!!

Juwesm · 01/04/2009 13:02

Think I must be having a loooooong baby, as it is booting me in the fanjo and bumflossing at the same time. It clearly wants out, as it is torturing me from within by trying to do a sunroof exit all on its own. Why won't it just get on with it?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 01/04/2009 13:04

you should have pinched some gel from work Juw

I has just taken me ages to catch up since last night on this thresd! You all talk too much! I should have been dong housework!

I am thinking of walking the school run (45mins ish each way with the kids). Mindee asked me this morning if we could walk if it was nice and I said maybe. I just get a bit nervous as I go dizzy quite easily and I am so scared of fainting and there being nobody to look after the kids. But I do want to walk and I could then pop to holland and barrat for some raspberry leaf tablets!

I am really annoyed that I have lost my clary sage oil! I don't know what happended to it! I had some left from last time but couldn't find it, so bought a new bottle and was keeping it till 37 weeks then went to mix it with a carrier oil last night for a massage oil and I can't find it! It has been "around" for weeks. Typical!

Had a nice morning. Went to church and they laid on a big spread of hot cross buns, croissants, chocolate crepes etc. Lovely! Then came home and DD had a nap (praying she sleeps tonight still!) as she was up at 5am this morning. So we are all very tired! Have made a start on cleaning my kitchen, which had got in quite a state . But now DD awake so won't get much done now. Is there any reason I shouldn't drink lucazade? I bought some for labour but actually really could do with the boost. Although I know they are high in calories! Wondering if taking a bottle on the school run would be a good idea to stop me going dizzy?

Does anybody know if you can use jasmine oil to induce labour? I have some (blended with carrier oil) and wondered if it is ok? I don't know anything about it but just happened to own a bottle and I am sure I heard it can help induce labour?

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 01/04/2009 13:21

On a happier note, I'm waiting for the MW to come drop off my HB kit today too... so lots of excitement all round!

Clary sage - what's the lowdown on this? How do I use it? And when?

bronze · 01/04/2009 13:24

I need tobuy some more arnica and rlt tablets. Plus maybe a few other bits. Is there a good site I could get it altogether?

Soon2be I think its just a relaxant not for bringing on labour like clary sage

Carameli · 01/04/2009 13:26

kittycat are you in the Epsom area? DO you know anyone with the surname Cadd? Could be jsut a coincidence but thought I would ask if you do as your due date seems to coincide.

soon2befamilyof4 · 01/04/2009 13:26

kitty - I bought my clary sage off ebay. Was a lot cheaper than going to the health shop.

Carameli · 01/04/2009 13:28

someone posted this on a message about raspberry leaf tablets, not sure if they do arnica or not

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 01/04/2009 13:29

Thanks STBFO4!

Carameli - I'm in Ashtead, think you are too!

Don't know anyone named Cadd, I'm afraid, but will keep my eyes peeled in case I meet her around...
Are you going to the NCT Bumps & Babes coffee morning at St George's tomorrow?

Carameli · 01/04/2009 13:31

yes, I'm in Ashtead, afraid not going to St Georges as out for possibly last swimming session with ds before I get too completely knackered.

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 01/04/2009 14:07

Carameli - I'm seriously considering going, if I can get out by then... my sleeping habits lately have been so erratic - awake all night, only properly bed down after DH leaves for work in the mornings - so 10am might be a bit early for me...

All good prep for when the little princess arrives, hey??

soon2befamilyof4 · 01/04/2009 14:14

I have just found this on Jasmine oil:
Uses

It is a valuable remedy in cases of severe depression. It soothes the nerves and produces a feeling of confidence, optimism and euphoria. It revitalizes and restores energy.

Jasmine oil facilitates delivery in childbirth: it hastens the birth by strengthening the contractions and at the same time relieves the pain.

It is effective in post-natal depression and promotes the flow of breast milk.

Because of its soothing and calming nature, Jasmine oil helps with sexual problems such as impotence, premature ejaculation and frigidity.

In the respiratory system it also soothes irritating coughs and helps with hoarseness and laryngitis. It helps with muscle pain, sprains, and stiff limbs.

Jasmine tones dry, greasy, irritated and sensitive skin, increases elasticity and is often used to assist with stretch marks and scarring.
