Catz, my letter says wee an hour before your appointment, then drink half a pint of water and don't wee again until you've been prodded hard in the bladder for 20 minutes scanned.

Beffnal · 22/05/2009 11:39

My letter just said you need a full bladder. Sitting in a traffic jam on the way to the hospital with a full bladder was not fun!

Catz, hope your scan goes well tomorrow.

damnitdamnit · 22/05/2009 12:54

So sorry Schlumph.

Scan yeaterday went fine. was not as clear as last time but everything is ok. Spent most of last night on the phone telling people my news. Change of due date again though.

I will find out at my next scan as i did with my last. I am also a control freak and would like to be prapared. JosieM my dh was much the same as yours but we decided early on we would not discuss names with anyone so that was their suprize and his bit of info to pass on.

Hope all goes well for those with scans coming up soon.

Catz the lady who scanned me told me i had not drunk enough water and i did not get a very clear pic. She told me for next time to wee an hour before the appointment then drink a pint of water.

Catz · 22/05/2009 13:03

Thanks all for the advice on the scans. Just hope they aren't running late!

Glad to hear the scan went well damnitdamnit

LaDiDaDi · 22/05/2009 23:39

Sorry to hear your news Schlumpf . I hope that you have success in the future.

Claire236 · 23/05/2009 09:30

Sorry for your loss Schlumpf.

We're going to find out what we're having particularly as ds needed an op & I'd like to know in advance if we're having another boy as we'll then be given a 3D scan where they should be able to see if this baby has the same problem. I've got my second scan - nuchal fold - on Friday as previously mentioned.

One of the major advantages of an internal scan was not having to have a full bladder. It's also much clearer & we got to see our baby in much more detail than expected.

Baisey · 23/05/2009 15:19

Im going to find out, I always HAVE to know! When people say "ohhh but dont you want it to be a suprise?" it is a suprise! ive known I was pregnant since 4/5 weeks and my suprise will come at week 20 rather than week 40! I never acted on it with my DS though, I still only bought neutral colours in clothes and for his bedroom.

I went out and bought some maternity clothes today I was meant to buy trousers but came back with tops instead. Why does that always happen? You go out for one thing and come back with something completely different!!

Hope everyone is feeling ok.

raggie · 23/05/2009 18:50

I know what you mean baisey - I want to find out too but since I let that slip at school (I'm a teacher!) I've had at least 3 women come up to me and tell me I just can't, 'it's so magical when you find out after they've pulled it out of you'...no offence but I'm not sure how magical anything can make me feel after I've just gone through labour...!

Where has anyone been buying good mat clothes? I really want a bump band so I can still wear my fave jeans and am dying for some cute tops/tunics/dresses I keep seeing pg women wearing everywhere, but I can't find any!

Baisey · 23/05/2009 19:01

Im not sure where you'd get a bump band, I know last time I was pregnant I got one free with a magazine! I got some nice, reasonable tops from New Look and was annoyed to find out that my local H&M have stopped doing maternity clothes grrr. So where I live its mothercare or new look, such a choice im over the moon... not

raggie · 23/05/2009 20:06

Well, I live in london so it really shouldn't be this hard, but I just can't be bothered traipsing in to oxford st and when i have been rather unsuccessful...

Just had a wee peek at your profile baisey and see you're a fellow harry potter reader! Just re-read the Deathly Hallows and Order of the Phoenix - only thing that took my mind off feeling sick as a dog over the past few weeks. DH is deeply embarrassed whenever i whip it out - but at least I have the 'I'm a primary school teacher' excuse!

cazzybabs · 23/05/2009 20:42

Catz - hope the scan went well today.

I am sooo tired today - I can't wait to feel "normal tired".

Baisey · 23/05/2009 21:07

Lol I started re-reading half blood prince so I can shout at the screen when I go to watch it in July. The trouble is my pregnancy hormones make me feel quite weepy when reading it
My husband also despairs and I have no such excuse, he just thinks im a loser lol!

Catz · 23/05/2009 21:50

Scan went fine thanks cazzybabs, though as predicted they were running hugely late and sonographer kept prodding me really hard to get the baby to move so it's a wonder I didn't wet myself! One baby (phew), perhaps one day out on the dates and nuchal looked fine (though results will be a week).

The scanning room shared a really thin wall with one of the delivery rooms and there was a poor woman absolutely shrieking for the whole time we were there! It echoed all the way down to the waiting area and lots of poor 1st time mums were looking really white. I did wonder whether I'd made the right choice in doing this again!

I'm going to go shopping for clothes on Mon. I'm hoping to get away with some slightly bigger sizes in ordinary clothes for a bit. There are so many floaty tops and empire line dresses in the shops I might get a few of those and a couple of pairs of maternity trousers and see how it goes. We're limited to Mothercare and Dorothy Perkins for maternity clothes here so not a great selection.

LaDiDaDi · 23/05/2009 22:48

Had my midwife booking visit today. I am "high risk" (not a surprise) and should get a date for my scan in the next week or so. I'm so desperate to see a scan pic!

I've been absolutely knackered lately. Tonight I fell asleep again putting dd to bed. I can barely keep my eyes open during her bedtime stories, somtimes I'm asleep before she is lol. Dp suggested that we get a babysitter and go out tonight but I just couldn't bear the thought of having to get ready so I've stayed in and demolished a box of After Eights that I sent him to the shop to get for me.

HazeDB · 24/05/2009 08:23

Hi All

Just thought i would add myself in now i have had my first scan and everything feels far more "real" to me.

4thtimelucky · 24/05/2009 10:38

ooh, my letter doesn't say anything about drinking anything before hand - although does have a long paragraph about paying £5 for a scan picture before the scan. I am totally and absolutely dreading the scan as am utterly convinced something will be wrong and I just can't shake the feeling to the point I can hardly talk and am on the verge of tears constantly and I can't think about anything else. Supposed to be having family round for lunch today which involves cleaning the lounge and kitchen and hall and bathroom, ironing all the washing piled up in the lounge, shopping and cooking and I just can't bring myself to do it. OH is in bed still and I want to go in and scream at him but fear that won't help anything. 48 hours to go as scan is Tuesday morning so only another 48 hours of bad mood left. Is this a normal feeling???

SarahL2 · 24/05/2009 12:05

Morning sickness is really getting me down now

I've gone from just feeling sick to being sick although only in the mornings so far (the nausea still lasts all day) DS is having to miss out on his activities cause I can't bear the thought of going out and he's watched more TV in the past few weeks than ever before in his life! Plus the house is a tip because I can't face housework and I'm ashamed when people come round - especially my MIL who's house is immaculate and apparently "had a burst of energy" whenever she was pregnant and cleaned even more! She's bound to come round next week cause it's my birthday

DH tells me it was all self inflicted as I wanted another baby so he has no sympathy !!

I was sick with DS up till 5 months too so I could have another 3 months of this!!!

It's making me miserable and grumpy and horrible and I just want it to stop!

I'm only 9.2 weeks!!!

[sob]

Am also dreading the scan 4thtimelucky. Miscarried in January and am paranoid something will have gone wrong. Especially as people keep guessing so it's no longer a secret and I think I'm jinxing it!

Sorry to be so miserable but I'm really having a bad day

Baisey · 24/05/2009 12:42

SarahL2 and 4thtimelucky Im sorry you are both feeling so crappy. I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of you.
Im also feeling rather apprehensive about the scan, even though I have no personal bad experience, when I was pregnant with DS I was plagued with dreams of being scanned and the baby turning to look at me and bearing horrible vampire teeth Bizarrely now DS has his teeth he has 2 very pointy "vampire" teeth!!
This time next week and I'll be coming out in cold sweats.

SarahL2 · 24/05/2009 12:56

Thanks Baisey

I really don't mean to sound so...well ungrateful...

I'm heartbroken everytime someone comes on here and says that they have lost thier baby. I feel incredibly lucky that so far it seems like this pregnancy is going well - morning sickness is supposed to be a good sign after all! It's just I seem to get it so badly and it gets harder and harder to be cheerful when you've felt constantly sick for weeks and it's stopping you doing things you need to do and enjoy!

I remember being paranoid with DS's scans that I would get there and they would say "but there's no baby there!" After all, they only had my word for it that I had peed on a stick and read the result right! I had expected some sort of medical test when I went to see the doctor and it really shook me up that they trusted me to confirm my own pregnancy!!!

This time its a post from a few weeks ago that haunts me. Someone was supposed to be 8 weeks I think but was told that her baby had died at 6 weeks I just keep imagining that happening to me.

Baisey · 24/05/2009 13:12

You arnt being ungrateful, you are just having normal, healthy fears, everybody has them. Unfortunately it doesnt make them any easier to put up with!
Can you not have a nice sit down in the garden whilst your DS has a play, im planning on dragging out the sun lounger, a good book and the zoom ice lollies! My DH is working all bank holiday so im desperate to get out of the house, cant be bothered with the housework!

SarahL2 · 24/05/2009 13:35

I'd gotten us all ready for the garden - suncream, hat, shorts, sandals - taken the lid off the sand pit, was looking good but then I tried mowing the lawn! DS usually pushes his own little toy mower round after me but today we had snot and tears and screaming and lots of "mummy back in lounge" so we're back indoors!

DH is working today too. He went in at 2am and isn't back yet! Bloody mainframes!! So I'm all alone till he gets home. Is't it awful when they work weekends!?

We're potty training too. DS did a poo in his potty which was great except emptying it made me throw up again! I've had to leave it empty but in need of cleaning for DH to do when he gets home. Poor man! Sleep deprivation and now grotty pottys too!!

DS is napping now so going to mow the lawn I think. Either that or collapse on the sofa. Getting too hot makes me sick too so lounging in the garden has to be done in shifts

It'll all be worth it in December - right?

Baisey · 24/05/2009 15:07

Well I had to come back in lol the sun got to much. Plus the pub next door are having a BBQ.
I sent my neice to the shop to buy some of those ice pop things, can you believe they didnt have any!! She came back with these weird gloopy jelly ice things which werent as good.
I am also trying to potty train DS its not going to well though, he doesnt like his potty
I feel a bit luckier now since my DH only went in for 9:00 am hopefully he'll be back for 5:00.
Oh yes roll on December, sleepless nights, feeding woes but hey no morning sickness!!

SarahL2 · 24/05/2009 17:00

Baisey Ok we'll look forward to Spetember instead - no morning sickness by then hopefully and a last few months of sleep (albeit fat, uncomfortable sleep) before the new ones appear

DH got home at about 2 so at least we have some of the afternoon to spend together, even if he is dog tired...

Managed to mow half the lawn but then I realesed the garden waste bin was trapped at the front of the garage behind piles and piles of stuff that's in there fron the kitchen refit so had to abandon the mower when it got full until DH came home to free the bin!

Managed to get magnums from the shop though
