OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BoffinMum · 31/03/2009 11:15

It's actually a very very old mw trick, only they don't let on they are doing it. Pre-dates rampant rabbits though.

BabyBolat · 31/03/2009 11:16

Ok will give it a go ! Anything is worth it at this stage - going to head for a walk too after lunch

BabyBolat · 31/03/2009 11:16

Really?

surprisenumber3 · 31/03/2009 11:41

BB - the account is in his name and is a children's regular saver account. Mad isn't it. I think I'll have to go into the branch to sort out as I really don't understand.

BabyBolat · 31/03/2009 11:45

Yeah I would as you shouldn't have to deal with the inland revenue for their mistakes!!!

mathsmummy27 · 31/03/2009 12:10

Boff, what do you mean by MW trick??

They don't actually stimulate people, do they? Even I would draw the line there, I think..

mathsmummy27 · 31/03/2009 12:14

my GP friend told me to do this at the weekend as well btw..and she is very straitlaced..it was v funny watching her trying to find a euphemism...

BoffinMum · 31/03/2009 12:26

They do, MM, even in this day and age, although it is a practice that dates back centuries. I read about it when I was doing research into historic midwifery in 1998. (Don't ask). I would however pass on the goose grease though, ladies (really don't ask).

Swaliswan · 31/03/2009 12:29

I have about two seconds before I need to go and get DD from the childminder but Boff has got me really intrigued. Off to google goose fat and induction of labour...

Swaliswan · 31/03/2009 12:31

Hmmmmmmmmm, not finding anything.

Swaliswan · 31/03/2009 12:33

Oh, I'm off to get DD. I'll be back later.

Bleuravin · 31/03/2009 12:50

I was sleeping...kinda...it was like I did last night, very fitfully. I kept waking myself up with my own whimpers and discomfort.
I told baby s/he's completely welcom to come after 4pm today as DH's hours will be up and he can come home. It might be nice for the baby to come straight ofter DH gets done because then he'll get more time with the baby before having to go off to work...

Bleuravin · 31/03/2009 12:56

Had everyone goone off to pleasure themselves inorder to make their babies come?

Well, enjoy

I'm going to go work on finishing those sheets...

BoffinMum · 31/03/2009 13:04

No, Swali, the goose fat is to - how shall we say - ease the passage out.

Bleu, I am horrified that you would think for a minute that I, a communicant member of the Church of England, would even consider pleasuring myself.

BoffinMum · 31/03/2009 13:07

In preparation for labor, the woman was advised to bath in wine and sweet-water baths in order to calm her mind before delivery. Her belly was then rubbed with oils to decrease the appearance of stretch marks and her genitals were anointed with herbs and injected with softeners such as goose fat[5].

Off Wikipedia but similar to notes I took at the time, I imagine. Now where is that Tokkai??? And I am sure I had a packet of bay leaves in the cupboard somewhere ....

OddEyes · 31/03/2009 13:10

hope everyonehad good morning naps! just had loveliest nap after no sleep between 2.30 and 5.30 last night. this lo has madeit clea what my nights will be like by the end of the week.
the race is on MM and boff! may i suggest holding on to my beautiful norks will not help you but me! I am having a baby on your due date so get nipple twiddling yourselves!
BB - yay for happenings hope it kicks off soon, can be a long while though.
Nothing happening here, lots of bloody show but guess to be expected after what happen yesterday.
suprise - ealy induction because had 10lb 5oz baby 2 years ago, which damaged me (had tear and epis. both of which broke down with infection and were left to heal unstitched) leading to need for reconstructive surgery. have a large amount of scar tissue some of which won't be removed by surgery, consultant (2nd opinion specialist after all others said no more babies that way ever) recommended having a smaller baby to stretch tissue. This baby will not be smaller if I go any further!

OddEyes · 31/03/2009 13:13

can't type whilst still prone - sorry!

BoffinMum · 31/03/2009 13:15

Some novel induction methods:

Medieval Germany - Get yourself whipped, or even better, get someone to whip your servant for you.

Greece and Rome - Apparently a slug of goose semen should do it Slainte!!

Bleuravin · 31/03/2009 13:15

Ironically Boff I have the 'say a little prayer for you' song running through my head...well just that phrase actually.

Just a little AIBU...to think people ought to be calling ME and asking ME if I would mind them stopping over this week rather than calling my DH and asking him if it would alright to stop by and see your wife...

Bleuravin · 31/03/2009 13:18

What am I? His bloody child? 'Will Bleu be able to come out and play?'

BoffinMum · 31/03/2009 13:18

Do you think it would be OK to recycle the goose fat on Sunday's roast potatoes once I had finished with it???

Bleuravin · 31/03/2009 13:18

lol Boff...

OddEyes · 31/03/2009 13:18

erh boff? the goose semen - where did you get it from, and in such quantities?

BoffinMum · 31/03/2009 13:20

From geese, presumably.

Might have to show them some good porn first, and get MM's help!
