What on earth is there to like about rawl plugs?

& I've not read any good books in ages. Well, not that haven't been course-related. Next time I have money, I'm spending some on books. Yes.

mathsmummy27 · 30/03/2009 23:31

OOOOOOOOOOh I just want to eat them. The colours, and the uniformity (a bit like Lego)

Just finished The Reader - liked it. Also the 19th Wife was reallly good. Working up the steam to start Random Acts of Heroic Love as I've stupidly got an idea I'll hate it..but I thought that about the Kite Runner and was wrong. I always judge flippin books by their covers!

mathsmummy27 · 30/03/2009 23:44

tum-te-tum-te-tum

baby in my tum
it is time to see your Mum
it is soft and warm in there
but it's lovelier out here
i am making you some milk
and my cervix is like silk.....

tristaleejac · 30/03/2009 23:47

hey there ladies,
clairey, congratulations!! Violet is a beautiful name too
bleu - loved the story telling, great stuff.
Glad you're all ok, everyone is sounding loads better emotionally, which is great. Hope you've all had a good day.
I'm just waiting on the washing machine finishing so I can go to bed. That's about the highlight of my day I'm afraid!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 31/03/2009 00:26

OP posts:
BabyBolat · 31/03/2009 06:48

Oh Smutts - how is DD? Are you ok? Hope everything is OK and DD's isn't still suffering! Thinking of you!!!

MM love your tune!!!

So it seems I am officially in early labour - have spent the past 3 hours with regular period / back pain / nausea / increased discharge (although no plug!) - waves every 4-5 minutes.

Phoned the hospital, they told me bath, paracetamol and call them back this afternoon when everything gets a bit stronger and more painful! There is still a very good chance I will pull a springy () and that this will all die off and I will be pain-free in a couple of hours and still here is a week but they seem to think something is happening!

BoffinMum · 31/03/2009 07:27

BB - how exciting!!! Happy Birth Day!!!(Hopefully). Remember to eat well to keep your strength up early on in labour.

Bleuravin · 31/03/2009 07:28

oooo BB how exciting! I'll borrow Nutty's pompoms until she gets up. Go Labor!

I hope dd is ok Nutty. Were you up super late?

BoffinMum · 31/03/2009 07:29

Smutty, I do hope DD was OK last night. I am not sure what's in Vicks. Your poor family is really going through the wars at the moment.

BabyBolat · 31/03/2009 07:29

I am trying not to get my hopes up but they don't seem to be easing off at all, just have to wait for them to get worse I suppose!!! How are you this morning?

BabyBolat · 31/03/2009 07:31

Isn't it menthol in Vicks?

AuldAlliance · 31/03/2009 08:03

Ooh, BB how exciting. Hope they are bearable, and that when they get worse they do so efficiently. Looking forward to more news.
Nutty, hope your DD is OK, that must really sting!
Boff, I hadn't caught on that you were shifting DS to a new school for just after these holidays (am a bit out of it as regards UK school holidays). If he's as sociable as you say, he'll make new mates fast. Especially with Big Lego...

I had a very sleepless night. Began worrying about what would happen if DH got a job in Paris and I had to travel down on the TGV to work, leaving a 4 month old baby in Paris. Must have communicated my stress to the baby, who jumped up and down on my sciatic nerve for a few hours. As a result, I am making good headway with the Zweig, Boff, though it is shaping up to be a leetle gloomy. And have ordered Bel Canto in a moment of indulgence.

Right, off to be efficient, get spare house keys cut so ILs can get in if I'm in labour when they arrive, get battery for thermometer, buy a nid d'ange for the baby as per hospital instructions, go to butcher's, clean living room and bathroom, do ironing, make bolognese sauce, etc. I have 2 hours to do this, so if I come on here again between now and fetching DS from school, please scold me soundly!

brettgirl2 · 31/03/2009 08:23

Clairey - very big congratulations on the birth of Violet. This is perfect, a new baby every time I log on . My friend from work is also due tomorrow and was a couple of days early last time, so I am constantly checking my phone.

Springy - have you thought about joining the library? I got a load of books last week, all completely FREE!!!! (although I must remember to take them back on time lol)

BB how exciting, just when you had passed due date and given up hope.

There are quite a few things in Vicks (I have just looked at the ingredients) - Nutty hope your DD is OK.

BabyBolat · 31/03/2009 08:33

Ok what should I be doing to encourage this along - bouncing - walking???

Still just the same dull pain everywhere!!! Hope I haven't jinxed it by actually saying it out loud!!

mathsmummy27 · 31/03/2009 08:34

BB - how are you now? Resting as much as you can, hopefully, and eating lots of sugar

help, I think I'm going to throw up! back in a bit

mathsmummy27 · 31/03/2009 08:36

oops x-posts BB!

I would rest probably..if it goes away its not 'real' (as in active..still painful though) labour, and if not you will need your rest.

but that's very difficult advice to take, and you may need to do something..so bounce away

BabyBolat · 31/03/2009 08:40

Oh MM, I had that this morning too! just about made it to the toilet! ((rubs back gently)) and offers sweet tea!

I am fine, painful back and tummy as the waves come but not the stabbing pains that this is supposed to turn in to just yet, had a couple this morning but nothing too significant yet! Am hoping it doesn't turn out to be nothing! And that if it does come that it is either today or Thursday - really don't want to have it tomorrow (family link that would just cause all sorts of petty problems!!!)

conkertree · 31/03/2009 08:41

ooh exciting bb - i'd go for a wee walk but obviously fairly close to home. and i know its easy to say but try and relax and not think about it too much - watch a good film or something.

smutty - hope your dd is ok. sounds very sore.

feel a little out of it just now - will need to try and do some catching up. at home all day today so will try and read back some.

had an awful night's sleep - ds started burning up for some reason (maybe related to his vomitting in the evening) and i got a bit worried about him but calpol and sponging brought it down and he seems very bouncy this morning so will see.

got to attempt a midwife appointment on the bus with no buggy - will be interesting. hopefully will tire him out for a long sleep and i will be able to catch up with where everyone's at just now.

BabyBolat · 31/03/2009 08:43

Good luck at the mw conker! Hope DS is OK

mathsmummy27 · 31/03/2009 08:48

thanks for tea BB yuck yuck yuck though.

PLEEEEEEASE don;t let me have a vomitty diarrhoea labour (((((((( bleaurgh

BabyBolat · 31/03/2009 08:50

Haha! Sure you will be OK although I had a very big movements in both areas this morning so hoping i have cleared it all out!!!

Schulte · 31/03/2009 08:56

Morning! Well what's this, BB, MM and OddEyes all competing for the next baby? Exciting!

Just waiting for MIL to arrive. I have done my back in and every movement hurts - not ideal when looking after toddler. Also unfortunately still no signs of chicken pox

mathsmummy27 · 31/03/2009 08:57

I am such a wimp when it comes to being sick. I don't mind clearing it up but it really freaks me out...

BabyBolat · 31/03/2009 09:03

Oh No schultes that doesn't sound good!!! How did you hurt your back?

No competing - Oddeyes can go first if she wants, I just want something to happen!!!!

I am alright with sick as long as I am relatively in control of it - hate the horrendous ones where you have no warning!!

PuzzleRocks · 31/03/2009 09:07

Nutty and Conker - I hope your little ones are ok this morning.

BB- Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How bloody exciting. What's happening now?
