lol at Spike
Does it work out cheaper to use washable nappies? Also, can you put them in the tumble dryer. Just wondering, cos obviously our babies will be born at the end of the summer so we won't be able to dry them outside for long.

Another headache today Had to pop another pill. Oh dear. Don't think I can blame the thunder as I don't think there is any forecast. It's either hormones or constipation (sorry if tmi ).

Liz - I don't regret going to STH though cos the care I received during the birth was brilliant. We were put in a lovely room with a great view of Big Ben (after the birth)and the London Eye (until bed on post natal ward ready)and watched the sun come up. It was lovely Enjoy your ice lollies

LittleCheese · 16/04/2009 13:07

lizlemon we are going to spain at 29 weeks just nice and quite and relaxing (well as relaxing as it can be with 2 year old dd) nice short flight and shouldnt break the bank

LJ29 · 16/04/2009 13:12

We're just doing one of the Sun holidays (mon-Fri) in a caravan in Grt Yarmouth. We normally go camping but I've drawn the line at an air bed when 30 wks!

Does anyone else feel like their tummy/womb is stretching?

ladylush · 16/04/2009 13:16

We're not really having a holiday as such this year. We've booked a hotel on the coast for a couple of days in May and in the summer holidays will look out for uk deals or do a series of day trips to the coast etc.

LJ - yes my tummy feels like it's stretching. Sometimes I get a funny feeling under my belly button. It's quite odd.

FairySparkles · 16/04/2009 13:17

Neddie - one of my close friends is called Heidi and it's actually really cool I think, takes a wee while to get used to but it's a lovely name I think! Oscar is my choice for a boy too, great minds eh!! lol Really hope your dp gets a job sorted out - I absolutely could not do 1 baby without my dp - let alone twins!!!!

Lizlemon - a nice all inclusive to some where hot and sunny should do the trick: balearics or canaries won't be tool long a flight?!

Snowfalls - trains is a boy!! mine's a train too!! Ooooo, so exciting!!

BabyLady, sorry to hear you've had bad news - always the way isn't it!

bigbang · 16/04/2009 13:40

You can put them in the tumble dryer. Its not brilliant for them though! I dry on an airer and finish of with a few mins the dryer if they need it. Cost is also debatable. On the whole, yes much cheaper. However if you were to compare buying cheap asda nappies for a child who PTs at 20 months with buying the most expensive cloth nappies for a child who PTs at 3 it might not be. For us it has worked out much cheaper, and using them on a second child saves hundreds and hundreds

Babylady, congrats on the scan and very sorry to heard about your Granddad. Good luck with the flight x

audreyraines · 16/04/2009 14:12

you may also be able to resell them at the end. ebay doesn't allow it anymore, but you could do on mumsnet or a few other sites.
i tried washable nappies for a while, but didn't really get on with them as we were constantly having leaks, even though we tried quite a few different types. don't know why, but had to give up after a bit. i know some friends who had a wonderful time with them though.

audreyraines · 16/04/2009 14:12

i've got a feeling i'm coming down with a cold. maybe that explains why ds was so cranky this morning too. sigh. going to curl up on the couch with cup of tea while ds asleep. [prays for long sleep]

Neddie · 16/04/2009 14:45

HI
Thusnelda he is an actual German (with a bit of Swedish thrown in) he's on my profile. I would never have thought I would be getting married to a German as I had this awful stereotype in my head and because of my family history. How wrong can you be! I can't wait for him to be here permanently.
Sorry to hear your sad news babylady hope you get there safely.

blue76 · 16/04/2009 16:09

babylady I am sorry to hear that. Take care.

ladylush - a friend of mine has 4 dc - 2 ds's and 2 dd's. With her ds's she had horrendous ms and with her dd's she had raging headaches...hmm I wonder??

Stretching tummy...I sometimes feel like there's a piece of string going from behind my tummy button and someone's pulling gently on it...strange feeling!! Sure baby had hiccups last night. Was twitching like mad.

4 weeks today til 20 week scan. Starting to feel extremely impatient!

daffodilli · 16/04/2009 17:22

Sorry to hear about your grandad babylady x x

Bubs does alot of twitching as well blue, permanant hiccups?! Bump seems to have grown overnight and am having stretching and a few crampy pains, so I guess bubs is making room!

Glad you've got your DP back with you neddie!

Where are you having your LO fairysparkles? (if you dont mind me asking!) If I decide against HB at the last min I'll be going to Singleton which is only 15 mins from our house.

Re cravings, asked my mum who said that she craved fruit, veg and salty stuff with my brother, and chocolate all the way with me and my 2 sisters. I would much rather eat salad and fruit etc and have really gone off chocolate in a big way!

Am going to take a pic of bump and put it on my profile soon. Profile 'out in the open' now as everyone I know knows I'm pg!

Hope I haven't missed anything!

peachygirl · 16/04/2009 18:45

sorry to hear about your grandad babylady, youe will be fine on the flight, move, wear the lovely unflattering socks and drink lots.
I flew to LA when pregnant with DD and that was with the terrorism and fluids panic. drinking lots was a bit of a challenge.

Things Ok here, I think I have been craving slightly more salty things I'm a big crisp lover anyway but have recently eaten two packets of salami in one go

I've gained about 4lbs too which I'm quite pleased about.

daffodilli · 16/04/2009 20:01

Ugh was really sick tonight for the first time in 2 weeks - had already forgotten how horrible it is....

LittleCheese · 16/04/2009 20:46

How are you ladies getting on with maternity wear? I bought 2 pairs of jeans last week, one under bump and one over bump. I found i had to buy a size 12 which is 1 (sometimes 2 ) sizes smaller than i usually wear. This confused me as with dd i just bought my usual size. I am also finding that they just dont fit properly always falling down, so annoying

ladylush · 16/04/2009 20:51

blue - yes that's exactly how it feels! Like someone pulling a string underneath the belly button Although I'm getting bad headaches I must say, I was pretty lucky wrt sickness even in my pg with ds. I was only actually sick twice, though admittedly the nausea was a bit worse.

Babylady - sorry to hear about your grandad Hope he is ok. I wouldn't worry too much about the flight. As long as you exercise your legs every so often you should be fine. I think it's more of an issue for pg women with complications like pulmonary embolism or DVTs etc. It's great that your scan went well It might cheer your family up to see the scan pics

Neddie - glad your dh is with you Hope he manages to get a job here. You need his support esp as you are having twins. My grandmother was half German, half Spanish. My grandfather was Irish (as were my maternal grandparents). Dh is Caribbean. Ds has a great gene pool Glad you managed to see beyond the stereotype - just think what you would have missed out on

ladylush · 16/04/2009 20:53

Oh dear - an errant comma It should've been after headaches. Is it just me or has pregnancy rendered anyone else totally inept in every day tasks such as spelling, grammar and speech?

TigOeufFeet · 17/04/2009 08:28

Hi all, goodness don't we have a lot to say for ourselves

Sorry to hear your news babylady, thinking of you.

I had my scan on Weds, no markers for DS found so we are not having the amnio. We are having another little girl I find that quite funny after all the "ooh you must be having a boy this time" comments from so many people. Isn't it funny how two pregnancies can be so different?

Best of luck to Neddie's DP for the job hunt.

I'm still about a stone and a half lighter than I was at Christmas... I am quite overweight so it isn't an issue but I haven't put on so much as a pound since I stopped losing the weight. I don't eat that much due to still feeling nauseous. I'm still taking meds for HG. My shape is changing though, I have a bit of a bump now . I've been feeling movements for the past couple of days which is lovely, it was much later when I first noticed them with dd.

audreyraines · 17/04/2009 09:34

little cheese, i had a terrible time finding jeans/trousers that fit me. my ones from last time kept falling down. i tried on some cheapie ones and they felt really uncomfortable. i finally bit the bullet and bought an excellent pair from a shop in marylebone. they were soooo expensive, but i wear them nearly every day and they are super comfortable.

Thusnelda · 17/04/2009 10:17

Tiger, good news from the scan! That must be a great relief.

I also seem to have stabilised my weight since about February. I started off loosing 5 or 6 pounds, simply by going off chocolate and lattes and alcohol of course. And since then I haven't gained a single pound! I can still fit into my normal trousers, but I bought one pair of maternity trousers in a charity shop - they won't fit for much longer but at least they make my bump look that little bit more pronounced. So it looks like for the last three months I have gradually swapped fat for baby which isn't a bad thing. Maybe my body has finally re-learned to metabolise properly - I had found loosing weight next to impossible in the last four years, very frustrating.

ladylush · 17/04/2009 11:38

Tiger - great news I was wondering about you yesterday as I remembered you were having your scan on Weds. Then I logged back on to post but the PC battery went dead. Congrats on the dd I wouldn't be at all surprised if this is another ds even though the pgs are different.

Neddie · 17/04/2009 12:52

Excellent news Tiger that must be a relief and a joy to have a girl they are lovely (most of the time) Can't wait till 29th when I will know what mine are...
It's fantastic to have all this movement now it's weird- when one is quiet the other one moves! I must be the only one having twins here- I also looked on the August thread and they don't seem to have one either!

daffodilli · 17/04/2009 13:15

So glad your scan went well Tiger! and congrats on the little pink bump!

1 week to go....!

audreyraines · 17/04/2009 13:17

Tiger, I'm so glad for you too. Must be a relief.

I've got a weird feeling this is a boy too, even though it's a completely different pregnancy experience. I've been vomiting again yesterday and today, so really not fun. I don't know what the deal is. It had really gone for a few weeks. I wonder if it is something food related, or tiredness related. I'm just sick of people staring at me on the street as I vomit next to a tree on the footpath . At least I've got a bump now so maybe they can put two and two together, rather than assuming i had a big night last night

Will find out what the little bean is on Tuesday hopefully. Scan is at 9am, so will be a struggle to get us all up and out of the house. I really want ds to come though, as I'm trying to get him as involved as possible. He's started saying "hello baby" to my tummy which is really cute.

ladylush · 17/04/2009 16:24

Thanks for all the advice re cloth nappies. I think this is our last dc so it may well work out more expensive for us, particularly as ds was well into year 2 before being PT.
There was much less choice when ds was a baby.

FairySparkles · 17/04/2009 19:02

Evening girls,

daffodilli - I'm in Barry so I'll be going to Llandough birth centre for this one - HB is just not my thing tbh, I actaully like hospitals and nurses and stuff (always had a strange feeling of 'home' from a young age in a hospital!! Weird!!) and ultimately would love to be a nurse or midwife. Had dd at Royal Glamorgan which was great but I just hated the concrete hospital beds afterwards (LOADS of stitches!!) and just wanted my own bed - so I figured the birth centre is a happy medium; your own room, double bed, en-suite etc -just hope I don't have to get transferred to Heath if anything goes wrong!!!- are you goning for a HB with this your 1st?? (sorry can't remember!) Very brave, but go for it - especially if the hospital's only 15 mins away, you've got best of both worlds then I guess.
Bless you being sick - hope your better today?! Mine's pretty much gone now, just left with a bit of neausea!

Congtratulations on a pink bean Tiger
so jealous of you all finding out - must be strong cos I know a surprise will be great, just impatient tho!!

Ladylush - my 'pregnant head' is actually getting quite embarrassing now - I'm on reception at work and when someone calls, I ask "who's calling please" and by the time I transfer the call I haven't got a clue what name they just told me!! Everyone at work thinks it's hilarious - I'm not so sure
