june keep them elevated as much as possible.

lauraloo09 · 24/04/2009 21:46

evening all

choccie glad you went to docs, please do what you have been told and stay in bed as that will be the only way the piles will go away x

june just as tee says keep your legs elevated as much as possible and hopefully that should keep swelling to a minimum

tee hope you had a good day shopping

daisy sorry you and dd are not feeling well hope you get both get better soon ((hugs))

tibsy I hope you're ok not heard from you in a bit x

naat congrats on translation being completed x

looouise I hope you're ok too x

strawberrysam been thinking of you recently and worried not heard from you in ages x

Goodness not done much cleaning (apart from oven yesterday) with DH being off this week. dont get me wrong been enjoying having company around the house and having days out with DH DH at a poker night tonight with his friends, he felt so guilty leaving me on my own but as i kindly reminded him after june he will have a hard time having a 'guys night'

Well i have been loitering on the emmsy's board to keep up with how jools is doing and I hate to say this but she had a scan this morning and it wasn't a good one, she mc'd again feel so for her and her DP just thought i'd let you know x

insywinsyspider · 24/04/2009 22:49

june not feeling too good about where I'm planning to give birth at mo, its a pigging mess round here and the nesting instinct has deserted me (or is lost in the laundry somewhere...) and yes its pot luck with MW here too

choccie glad you got GP to check you out and hope you get some relief over weekend x

daisy hope you also feel better soon, how quick was your first labour? (likely to be envious especially if you are one of the lucky 3 pushes and out people) although hope dh can be there with you

thanks everyone for lovely photo comments

ineed also got my £190 this week too, in savings now as no idea what priority is to spend it on - it'll prob end up covering shortfall on tyres

laura I don't think I was on this thread when jools was - was she a due in june too? thats so sad to have two m/c within 9 months x

lauraloo09 · 24/04/2009 22:54

hiya insy lucky you getting your £190 grant paid, how long did that take? only got my form sent off last friday hopefully wont take too long...not holding my breath tho

Yeah *jools was originally due at end of may beginning of june, just feel so bad for her right now

chocciedooby · 25/04/2009 06:41

Hi everyone.
I never rise from my bed this early in the morning but after an ok nights sleep I woke and am wide awake.I went to the toilet for a pee and feel like I am now getting a UTI I only saw the Dr yesterday Got to make sure I drink plenty of fluids as I really don't want to end up with cystitis and more medication.

On a brighter note, my "Rockford Files" are a lot better today. I can manage to get up more easily and move around although I will be going back to bed shortly for the day and follow drs orders. I need DH to move tv into bedroom or I am going to get bored very quickly.

So sorry to hear about Jools. She is having a rough time poor thing.

Laura - Am I mad in letting sh go away for the weekend when I am 35 weeks? I haven't really grounded him until 38 weeks before.

Daisy - hope you feel better soon. You have not been having an easy ride at all.

June - agree. Try to keep legs elevated as much as possible. I swelled up massively with DC1 at 38 weeks. I have had some minor swelling this time but nothing to major.

chocciedooby · 25/04/2009 06:44

Bunnymother - How did you get on with the IKEA drawers? Ikea is opening here in a couple of months and quite excited as never been to one before and heard they are great.

How is everyone and their hips/pelvis' this morning?

Feel a little more comfortable now so going to go back upstairs.

Tee2072 · 25/04/2009 07:27

Morning all.

So sad to hear about jools. That just so sucks.

I had a crap nights sleep. Damn heartburn. And just so uncomfortable.

I hope everyone has a lovely Saturday!

bunnymother · 25/04/2009 11:30

Morning ladies!

May have gone a little too gung ho on the housework front yesterday - am very stiff and sore this morning. Think that pregnancy stopped being "fun" at around the 7 month mark ie 2 weeks ago!! Even my hands and feet hurt. Maybe because, like June I am starting to experience some swelling?

When I went to day spa (I can never forget it as I may never go again ), the lady massaged my sausage fingers and trotters feet w motions towards the heart and then applied cooling gel and that seemed to deflate them a bit. Determined to be a bit DIY on this beauty/therapy front, I did some dry brushing yesterday and my sausages fingers did go down a bit. I wonder if that will help, too, June?

Also, June - since the house move UCH is no longer the closest hospital, so it got me thinking re changing anyway. Then had a look at that Govt website comparing hospitals, and St Thomas rates v well for maternity. I did hear there is high demand plus sister's boyf is Dr and said its v good. Which may explain the "no room for you unless you are in our catchment area" attitude. But I know people who have had babies there who are not from Southwark, Lewisham and whatever the other area is, so there is a way in!! That said (sorry if rambling!!), I also know people who have had babies at UCH and thought it was great, and my former GP rated it, too. All my care to date has been there to date, and the facilities are fantastic - virtually taking the wrapping of the equipment before they use it. MW experience varies a bit, but sounds like you get that! If you decide on UCH, I can tell you the good widwives that I have discovered/been told about... Sorry for essay, Juners! Choccie - IKEA is one of my favourite places! It all gets a bit much after a while, and its labyrinth like layout (ie 3 km of winding path through showrooms which is actually a distance of 200m the way a crow flies) can make you a bit crazed. But its cheap and slightly addictive (like Fruit Pastilles, you know you should stop, but...). So I put together some drawers yesterday , and as a special treat have saved the other set for this weekend . I hope you love it as much as I do! My sister and I are planning a girly outing there tomorrow (code for - buying too many homewares that we have to smuggle in like contraband goods!).

I better stop - the word count on this post is too high! But before I go, Tee - hope you can rest up today, and hope all you other fab Juners have a lovely day!! (waves)

June2009 · 25/04/2009 13:18

Thanks for the tips, my ankles are just about a normal size today after a night sleep with elevated feet, I'm keeping them up as much as I can.

bunny I tried to get dh to give me a massage but he was so tired I took pity on him. I'm off for a pedicure this afternoon maybe they can do something.

Feeling rough today though, I think the baby had the hiccups at 5am, and must have kicked me hard in my stomach as it woke me up with (TMI alert) 1 second to spare before being sick. Somehow managed to stop myself and get to the loo, but then couldn't be sick anymore and spent the next 2 hours feeling really nauseous and weird and worried about the baby who seemed to be going up and down in regular spasms (definitely hiccups).
My belly was funny and I kept thinking "this is it, my body is trying to empty itself ready for birth!".
Finally got some sleep at around 7:30 but couldn't get out of bed until 12.

The baby is happily kicking this morning so I'm not worried anymore but it was definitely a hairy 2 hours!! We've got a wedding to go to tonight and I'm not really looking forward to it feeling soo tired.

Had several conversations with my aunties to ask them about their birth experiences and they all gave birth early (including mum with me and dh's mum with him.)
They swear blind it runs in the family, the mw said it's not hereditary.

choccie hope you can get some kind of entertainment today and you don't get too bored, I hope you feel better soon.

Hi to everybody else!

Naat · 25/04/2009 14:27

Hi Juners!

June So glad to hear your legs and feet are a bit better today. I can see your MW and mine have been really helpful this week Enjoy your pedicure!!! Sorry to hear you had a rough night, but it's great to hear the baby is kicking away I completely understand how you feel re. the wedding! I hope you enjoy yoursef and get a nap this afternoon so you're rested

Bunny I also love IKEA, but you're right, it can be addictive hahaha. I'm glad you enjoyed your spa day Rest a bit today, you did a lot yesterday

Tee Sorry to hear about your night, I hope you can get a good nap this afternoon to compensate.

Choccie Soooo glad to hear you had a better night last night and that the piles are better. Please continue resting as it definitely shows it's helping. I also hope you don't get too bored and that you have the TV and a laptop with you

Hi Insy!

Hi Laura! So sorry to hear about Jools, I joined the thread much later and she was not on then but so sad to hear about it

Hi to all the rest of the Juners!

The dinner yesterday was a lot of fun. DH's colleagues are lovely, we had a great time and DH's meat came out great (so they all said) so he was happy. I definitely lost the ability to go to bed late They left at 12 and I was nearly a zombie haha.

This morning we learnt about massages for babies. Some friends of ours know this practitioner who comes to England 3 times a year to teach courses and bla and they invited us over. She was very good and gave us great tips.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy your Saturday and get good naps (((waves)))

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 25/04/2009 17:49

Hello all! So sorry to hear about Jools - that is awful news . I hope she's okay physically, I guess the emotional side will take a longer while to heal.

Had a knackering day. I think I've tried to do too much, and it's all caught up with me. Just tidied the whole house and hoovered, I'm now sprawled on the sofa!!

Going to bake brownies later for my friends. They're coming up to watch the Marathon with me. It'll be nice to see them and have a gossip....

Sorry to hear about all the nasty pregnancy symptoms rearing their ugly heads and the bloody unhelpful midwives . I'm so achey and having real cramps in my tummy. I know it's just Braxton Hicks, but they're really uncomfortable. My SPD is playing up and evenings are not fun at all. I think I'm fed up of being pregnant now. Would quite like it to all be over now!

DH runs the marathon tomorrow, then the scan on Monday where they'll check the location of the placenta. I think anything under 2 cms away is risky (it was 1cm away at 21 week scan) so I'm hoping it's moved right away. Also got midwife on Monday. Hopefully mine will be a little more helpful.

Hello to all the rest of you.

giggle little one is having hiccups! It feels so very weird!

ineed send me some brownies!!

Hope everyone is feeling some better today. I did get a lovely nap today.

insywinsyspider · 25/04/2009 21:27

laura I applied for it as soon as I got the form, my MW was supprisingly efficient (she is same one who delivered ds2 and is usually a bit vage and disty) she forward dated for me and I posted it 2nd March

choccie never been to an ikea? I think over half my house is ikea and we have a complete matching plastic childrens plates, beakers and cutlery which every mum I know owns - its great, check it out when it opens
glad to hear you're feeling a bit better today - keep resting tho, please don't be tempted to do too much because its getting less painful

naat baby massage is lovely, it was recommended for me to do with ds1 to help my PND and was great, really good positive 1:1 when baby is unsettled and you just don't know what to do

have lovely day here, took boys to Birmingham Science Museum and even tho they are still small they love it, am shattered now tho, starting to get all teh aches and pains and baby has turned and is really low and bouncing its head off my cervix (or so it feels)

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 25/04/2009 22:01

Hi all,

Just a quick one, doing ok here tired but was up late last night mn being v industrious and consequently felt slightly off colour today. Have managed 10 days of IV's so far just praying dd2 line holds out now, she's much better appetite still not great ( she wants fruit and we want her to eat chocolate!!! (for the weight gain!))

Struggling to get to see the mw now tried to book to see the doc last week ( the surgery like to see you once in your pregnancy at 34 weeks) but no appt's so tried to book for the mw next appt May 6th. Tried again the next day and have a doc appt mon not that they're likely to tell me anything new

Someone asked about the HIP grant money coming through, I was reading another thread earlier and it looks like the system is a complete shambles, and the helplines are as much use as chocolate teapots (not able to tell if they've received forms or not!) Most people seem to find out they've got it when they recieve the money in their accounts no letter or anything, so just keep an eye on your accounts ladies!

Insy- we too have the required IKEA range of childrens tea service

June I've been finding my hands swollen by the end of the day and have taken to soaking them in a bowl of cold water, (whilst dd2's meds run through!) which initally feels v unpleasant but does help the sausage feeling resolve slightly ( I can remmeber doing something similar with my feet in buckets of water for dd1 ( It was august in Gib, hot and unpleasant!!)

Chocie glad to hear the "farmer giles" are improving, keep it up with the rest!

Forgot to add thanks for all the kind words ladies, really you just run with whatever life throws at you, so times are harder than others but it all evens out in the end ( there endth doris' sermon)

And o the same note daisy where did you read the article on CF (I like to have a nosey to see what's being said!)

Right have to go and down a bottle have a little gaviscon, for the indigestio that has been playing me up for the past 5 days ( that's significant because I hate gaviscon!!)

Night all off to soak hands

Love Doris

Ps was very to hear about Jools too, what a nightmare of a rolercoaster she's on, she's in my thoughts.

daisy5 · 25/04/2009 23:33

Can't sleep. Throat hurts so much that I've got up to eat cold yoghurt - so nice on the throat.

The nurse told me to take paracetamol but I just can't bring myself to take anything during pregnancy.

doris - I think it was the Observer. My aunt bought it on Sunday. It was in the magazine supplement. I just googled and found it now HERE

insy & doris - so these words are familiar 'I would like apple juice in the pink cup with the pink straw, my cookie on the green plate and dessert with the orange spoon' etc etc. Yes, another IKEA dinner set here.

insy - I took all night to to dilate but when I went into labour it was a matter of minutes and actually, took just half a push (sorry). It wasn't painless though, during transition I was leaping all over ward as if there were hot coals on the floor! This may sound pathetic but it is making me so nervous. I worry about giving birth in public walking dd to nursery, about dh not being there (nor anyone else) etc etc.

naat - my dd was so unsettled for health reasons as a baby that she had no patience for massage, but she loves it now after her bath. She gets quite mesmorised.

Thanks laura & choccie for your kind thoughts. My sore throat/swollen glands/aching just does not seem to want to go .

laura - I got my £190 grant last week but I applied back in week 25 (9 weeks ago). They've only just got going properly so they may get faster??

I'd better go and see if I can get some sleep. Hope dd doesn't wake tonight although will probably need some medicine at some stage. Her temperature is better but we had to go to a walk in centre today as she was complaining of sore legs, arms and neck. She looked too bright for it to be meningitus but what choice do you have - you have to get them looked at in those circumstances.

daisy5 · 25/04/2009 23:38

oh and here is something very silly but I can't help giggling at cartoon story

chocciedooby · 26/04/2009 09:40

LOL at the cartoon Daisy5.
So sorry to hear that you are still unwell. I hope it budges soonso you can try to enjoy the remaining part of your prgy.

Had a pretty good nights sleep here last night. Woke at 4am in some pain but a bit of cream seemed to do the trick.

Not too bad this morning. Got up with DS1 for breakfast. I have been in bed so long that my pelvis is now sore. Cath 22 for me unfortunately.

Watching Marathon now. LB running in it. So proud of him. Its his 2nd time.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday and that the sun is shining for you

Naat · 26/04/2009 10:04

Mornin, Juners!

Daisy I hope after your post you could sleep a bit and that your throat gets better soon. I know what you mean re.paracetamol in pgcy, my MW told me to take it the other day for my pelvic pain and I just nodded along... HOpe your DD had a good night as well LOL at the cartoon

Choccie Yay on having a better night! So glad for you Rest under the sun today

Doris So sorry you're still struggling to see your MW/GP but sooo glad your DD is getting better I've seen the IKEA children set in a few houses and I love it! But yes, as Daisy said, you get the "specifics" from the LOs

Insy hope your hips are better after yesterday's hectic day out

Ineed We're watching the marathon, glad you'll have friends + brownies today while watching it Fingers crossed for you for tomorrow's appt!!

MrsMc how was your appt the other day?

Thanks everyone for your comments/tips on massage, it's great to hear from real mums after you hear the "theory"

Sunny day here!! I have to revise my translation but with this day I really really don't want to Have a great day, Juners!!!

chocciedooby · 26/04/2009 13:40

Lucky you having Sun Naat. It's quite overcast here today.
Still watching the marathon on TV. It is so inspiring! My borther and cousin are running in it but no chance of spotting them.

RE: Paracetamol during prgy. I have had to take them as they have been a lifesaver for me. I have been on 2 every 4 hours since Thursday GP theys say are perfectly safe but tbh I really could not cope without them/

Tee2072 · 26/04/2009 15:54

Hi all

Well, we have a cot! And we put it together with a minimum of swearing and no falling out. I'm quite proud of us!

daisy I am with you on the no paracetamol thing. I feel bad enough taking gaviscon!

Been very quiet around here lately, hope everyone is doing well!!

Naat · 26/04/2009 16:17

Choccie yep, here after 1pm it was all clouds Oh well...
I imagine how paracet has helped you these last few days, you were in serious serious pain. I can only imagine My dad also told me they're perfectly safe, but tbh they don't do much for me (for headaches, for example) I don't know why. Yay for your brother and cousin! (And your DH Ineed )

tee very well done! A cot all assembled and no falling out

Waves to all!!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 26/04/2009 17:23

My best friends have just left to go back home. The brownies were lovely! DH ran it in 4.31 so he did really well. He's in a pub in The Strand at the moment, having his first pint for a while! So pleased he ran it (apart from one mile near the end).

Nervous about my scan tomorrow, just want them to say that the placenta's moved and I can have a natural delivery....

Hope everyone managed to enjoy the sunshine today.

OP posts:
chocciedooby · 26/04/2009 18:26

Thats the thing naat - one can only suffer so much pain without using some help and the paracetamols have really helped. If there was anyway I could have avoided taking them I would but believe me, I needed them. I have cut back a lot today and only pop some if really in a lot of pain but the good news is that the pain is wearing off now so hopefully I can get back to normal soon.

I am soooo far behind on the housework, ironing is a mountain high. I have been sneaking down the stairs to put washes on so as DS has uniform for school etc. DH just doesn't think of doing stuff like that.

Ineed - good luck with your scan tomorrow. Fingers crossed the placenta has moved up for you. Please let us know how you get on.

lauraloo09 · 26/04/2009 20:36

evening all hope everyone had a lovely sunday

rain started here today which is a shame cos DH was planning to do some garden work on de-weeding the patio and mowing the grass here's hoping the sun comes out again soon.
Been washing the baby's sleepsuits and bodysuits tonight and it has been great didn't want to tumble dry them so bought a clothes horse and hanging baby's clothes in her room and it smells wonderful because of the comfort pure conditioner i've been using frightening to think that in 7 1/2 weeks i'll be putting the tiny clothes on a baby...the time is really starting to fly in now

choccie glad to hear pain is easing.

ineed congrats on your DH running the marathon, would love to do something like that maybe will train for it in a few years, I ran the Glasgow 10k a couple of years ago (i know not as far as a marathon but for an unfit person it was a great achievement) and I raised a lot of money for Scottish Motor Neurone Disease Association
Also ineed good luck with your scan tomorrow please let us know how it goes x

Big hugs and waves to all the other Juners!!!

LittleSarah · 26/04/2009 20:37

Well done to your dh Ineed, that is amazing! I'd love to run a marathon one day.

Poor Jools, she sounds so brave on the emmsy thread, I hope things go better next time for her, I'm sure they will.

I still haven't sent off for grant! Oops, oh well, I'm sure I'll get it eventually, I get it from midwife on Tuesday and will send off then.

Baby is getting a bit uncomfortable in places these days, think this one is going to be bigger than dd, maybe quite a bit! I'd love to know what size baby is now.

Can't wait to get dissertation out of the way! Got to see supervisor on Wednesday and worried he's going to want lots of changes which will be a real PITA. Also, as it has taken him so long to read it I have made quite a lot of changes anyway so if he likes it as it is I'll start worrying about changing it back!
