Thought I'd better start the new thread before it was too late. Here we go!

Morning all. Trying to keep up with this thread, moves so quickly!

Been so busy at work... and then so sleepy in the eves. Would like to say I'm winding down at work but I've still got ONE MONTH to go, and my workload is as full and busy as ever. I'll be 37 weeks when I finally go on maternity leave. Thank goodness for the Easter break!

It's been interesting reading about the dummy conversation. I hadn't even thought about dummys but I might buy one just in case it aids the baby's sleep for the first few months.

frazzledoldbag · 30/03/2009 09:16

Morning all. Blotted I think there are people on here who love a good scrap (doesn't seem to matter what about). I got into a bizarre (and unwarranted) argument on here recently re: car seats - turns out the woman who was having a go at me works in a shop that sells car seats. Most odd.

Am still unreasonably excited about being in the 'secret group' - how sad am I? When DH came home last night from his weekend away he was proudly shown you lot on FB and was completely baffled!

Right, off to do a site visit now. Wish me luck, can't really be bothered shouting at anyone this morning so hopefully it's looking good. Am starting open viewing afternoons as of Sunday so if anyone is looking for a beautiful new 4 bed house near St Andrews come along and have a look! DD2 was most impressed to see my ad in the Scotland on Sunday yesterday - she said 'Mummy, you're famous!' Er, not quite. Better than DD2 who over breakfast announced (to me) 'I not like you Mummy, I like Daddy'. Boo. I wonder if she'd like me better if I left her for 3 days to ponce about in London like her Daddy just did? (Bitter, moi). Anyway must go. Byeeeeeeeeee and have a good day all x

frazzledoldbag · 30/03/2009 09:29

Also blotted sorry to hear about your DD. I don't know much about impetigo except that I'm sure it's extremely contagious so she's probably picked it up from other kids at nursery. We've never had it (touch wood so far) but hope the antibiotics work fast!
lazzer I know what you mean about working so late in the pg - I worked till 39wks last time (and went into labour at a sales launch). This time (being self employed) I'll just have to keep on working anyway but am hoping to be able to 'wind down' a bit more soon - I find it hard to stay awake in the afternoons which isn't great for my productivity levels.

EmmalinaC · 30/03/2009 09:31

Morning! Blotted there are definitely individuals on here only want a scrap. Thankfully most of them seem to stick to the AIBU topic but I suppose that's what it's there for. Sorry to hear about your DD's impetigo. Hope it clears up soon.

I'm still reaping the benefits of this clock-change malarkey. DD didn't get up until 8 o'clock today (although admittedly she didin't go to bed until 9 last night!) so I'm just about to take her to nursery before heading up to St Helier Hosp for another BP check.

Hope you all have a nice day and enjoy the sunshine!

(I also LOVE the facebook group - such fun!)

chocolatebunnies · 30/03/2009 09:34

Morning everyone,

Hope everyone is ok? Had a good weekend??

I've had a slightly busy weekend, the IL's had Madi for the day yesterday so me and DP got to spend some time together, went into our local town and had a bit of retail therapy! lovely! Weather was beautiful, went out in shorts!

I tried to read through all your posts from the weekend but there are just so many!

Extra secretions, yep me too!

Dummys, Madi has had one since she was 2 months, she still has it now, but only in her bed, shes only allowed it when she wants to go to sleep, everyone says we should take it away now, but if it makes her happy and helps her settle, I cant see any harm in her having it! This baby will be offered a doo-doo and Madi has said that this baby can have hers so we'll see what happens!

Love the idea of the facebook group, Im on facebook, but cant remember who I need to email to join so if people want to add me as a friend, my name is Nikkie Coyne! ooooo how revealing! Quite liberating!

Am planning on going out later on with Madi, feeling confident so might take her without buggy!

Have a good day everyone

llareggub · 30/03/2009 09:37

Hello!

I'm waiting for the hospital to call me back as my blood sugar was so low this morning I managed breakfast without needing insulin. This worries me! All of the diabetic nurses are off sick so I a consultant is calling me back, which to be honest I would prefer as I think I have had some pretty dodgy advice so far. I'm trying not to get nervous about it, but I am feeling movement from the baby so that must be OK. I am trying to believe that my blood sugar is low because of good things like diet and exercise....

Belgianchocolates · 30/03/2009 09:56

Morning everyone,

llare hope you get some useful advice. Maybe your healthy eating and exercise regime is healing you, you never know.

I've written a post on the F/B wall and it's a bit confusing, because I'm talking to you lot I want to put * next to names to make bold or make smilies with []. I keep having to stop myself. I think fi had a good idea with the list, because I'm equally rubbish with names and I can't quite remember who is who!

frazzled you don't look frazzled on your pic. Nor does grumpy look grumpy!

Agree about certain people on here (not this thread of course ) being up for a scrap. Half the time I post somewhere else I end up in an argument. DH doesn't understand why I get angry about something online with people I don't know and can't see, but sometimes...

Oh my. I'm so tired. 6.5 days left to work. Got my refresher antenatal class on Wednesday morning, another antenatal appointment on Saturday morning and 5 mornings of crappy commuting when I'd got used to a nice short drive and early finishes.

Belgianchocolates · 30/03/2009 09:59

Oh and ds made me smile today. He had to get up a bit earlier due to the hour change and he said he was missing that hour we lost yesterday and he'd love a longer day! The decorator is still in and both dcs managed to get paint all over their school jumpers this morning . I hope it is going to wash out, because I don't want to get new ones for these last few months only to have to get a totally different colour next year when they go to their new school.
I'm going to finish on here for now and concentrate 100% on my work. After thursday I can live on MN again.

Jennster · 30/03/2009 10:07

at your ds chocolate Have a good productive day and if anybody else sees me on here, chase me away. Things to do, people to see, swimming baths and yoga to get done.

LoobyLou36 · 30/03/2009 10:11

blotted hope your DD feels better soon

llare I too and waiting for a call back from the diabetic clinic - altho my readings too high

pulapula · 30/03/2009 10:21

My DCs didn't wake until 8.30 and 8.45 today but think that was more to do with DS being awake in the night (not sure why). Both went to bed at 7.45 which was only a bit later than their usual 7pm...So we are on a go slow this morning as too late for playgroup, but off to visit my sister this afternoon.

pulapula · 30/03/2009 10:25

Blotted- I had a look at your impetigo thread, and agree that everyone seemed to have got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning. Not helpful at all.

I caught impetigo at my christening when only a few months old- not sure who from as i was passed around so much apparently. As a result, my ear lobes are now different shapes. When I went to have my ears pierced they struggled to know where to put each hole lol.

1stMrsF · 30/03/2009 10:31

Have you seen that this is one of the 'Most Active' threads featured on the MN homepage?

Makes me feel better about being so rubbish at keeping up.

What are you guys doing/planning to do on your maternity leave? I am getting a little bit bored now, and there is only so much Desperate Housewives you can watch in one day...

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 30/03/2009 10:40

1stMrsF

I bake and cook and wash. I haunt the library and read and read and read.

It's really tiresome, hence MNing a lot. The good thing is being able to pick my girls up from school, not sending them to after care, etc.

My DH runs his own business and frequently isn't back until after 7pm, often works weekends too, so I have a lot of time to myself. Having worked full-time for many years I always dreamed of time to myself. Now of course, I have too much time..........

I haven't been much help have I?!?!?!

detsy · 30/03/2009 10:46

Ah 1stMrsF make the most of it girl whilst you can. But I know exactly what you mean, i was off 6 weeks before lotti was born as she was 2 weeks late and I was climbing the walls by the end of it. Plus if you are anything like me you will be big (esp with 2 little babes!) and puffed really quickly. I did a lot of pottering and would love to be on ML to potter right now - nesting has kicked in big time!!

Lotti always home on Mondays tho I'm supposed to be working which is nigh on impossible. However we have painted this morning and she is now snoozing for a while - so making hte most of it and "working" as you can tell.....

I want to do a job list for DP - for next 5 weeks as I want all the niggly jobs finished before no 2 gets here. One of our loo seats has just given up the ghost - is there such a thing as a non wobbly loo seat that you canb buy?? I also want to order my nursery sliding wardrobe doors and get DP to fit them so I can put away all the baby things and get organised. I think the 2 littles will share for the first year or so - will see how LOtti reacts I suppose!

Just ordered stand and deliver - think someone mentioned it on here so looking forward to receiving that!

Ok off to slather some moisturiser onto lizard like arms...

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 30/03/2009 10:47

Oh and blotted - at the responses on the Impetigo thread - what a bunch of miserable twats, you can bet they'd be the first to bloody complain if their LOs had picked up Impetigo from nursery/gymnastics - "AIBU to think that this child's mother should have informed nursery/gym that their child had Impetigo" - you can imagine the thread. Grrrrrr.

And who posted about Polony? Funnily enough I was thinking about her last night, she hasn't posted for a while, has she? I hope she's ok.

detsy · 30/03/2009 10:49

oh blotted absolutely agree - SOME people are just so "odd" thankfully not on here esp but elsewhere - sometimes I read the other threads just to be gobsmacked by attitudes and aggresive behaviour - must be generally unhappy, angries I guess

Belgianchocolates · 30/03/2009 10:49

Get yourself a job interview that requires a presentation. That gives you something to do during your mat leave lol. I wish I didn't have to do this.
I've also bought one of those cross stitch patterns where you put baby's name and date of birth to keep myself busy once this week is over. I made one for my ds, so now I've bought 2 one for dd (only 5y overdue) and one for this one. They're smaller than the ds one, so shouldn't take too long.

The cat just brought in a dead mouse. Very proud she was too. I took it off her and binned it and now she's sniffing around for it wondering where she's left it.

Also just bumped into the postman (well not actually physically, you know what I mean) and asked him to ask his colleague who covers for him when he's off to stop throwing our post on the floor because I can't pick it up, there's a little shelf next to our door where they usually put the post. He's a really nice man our postman and he said he'll tell his colleague off!

Right back to business now.

pulapula · 30/03/2009 10:50

1stMrsF- not sure i'll have enough time on my mat. leave to do everything i need to. DCs will be in nursery 2 days a week so these will be my free days, on which i plan to go to the dentist, have my hair cut, have lunch with friends, pack hospital bag, sort all DDs and DSs toys, tidy the house, wash baby clothes etc etc. Got 4 weeks of mat leave, the first of which we're at centerparcs so i'm sure time will go very quickly!

Wish i could sit and watch desperate housewives! I found on my first mat leave when i was kid-free, i generally had an afternoon nap each day, which i would strongly recommend!

detsy · 30/03/2009 10:51

Grumpy crossed posts but lol at your directness - exactly what I wanted to say really

Blottedcopybook · 30/03/2009 10:54

Thanks everyone - DD is actually in great spirits, really cheery and happy just a bit itchy. I got in touch with her gymnastics class teacher though so they're going to clean down the equipment today and hopefully that'll be that. I just hope the boys and I don't get it (although I'm pretty resigned to getting it because we're a fairly kissy family).
frazzled she definitely didn't get it from nursery which I'm quite glad about - if they'd had an outbreak but hadn't contacted us, I'd have been extremely angry. The incubation period is only 1-3 days though so the only place she could have picked it up from was her gymnastics class
1stMrsF I sit all day wishing my kids would go for a nap! I jest, I just don't feel like I've had an awful lot of quiet time because my little 'uns are still so young. I have managed to get a fair bit of knitting and baking done recently but I reckon that's me done with any ventures outside the house. My SPD is just getting too bad now.

detsy · 30/03/2009 10:54

pula with you on the ML this time - I'm working from home up to 1st May and due on 8th so got to do the pottering in between times really. Sometimes get a bit stressed over what is to do in the house beforehand but guess what will be will be!!

I feld poo yesterday so DP took DD out and I went to bed for a blissful undisturbed 4 hours of catch up sleep

detsy · 30/03/2009 10:57

Just noticed DD has some very fashionable bright blue streaks in her hair...

LoobyLou36 · 30/03/2009 11:11

bright blue - lovely
thought that happened when they hit teenage years?
