Morning- I am feeling unreasonably happy and positive at the moment. I remember feeling very positive in my 3rd trimester with DD as well but I put it down to finishing work at 32 weeks and having time to do yoga, watch telly cook, and have naps. I have none of that this time but am still happy happy happy. I think I must get a rush of happy hormones at this stage. Makes up for the 1st trimester when I was a witch bag.

1stMrsF- When I had 9 weeks of ML with DD before she arrived I cooked loads for the freezer which was so helpful and I think even better since you will have 2 babies. Also I think you are in St heliers hospital region?? There is a great ante/post natal swimming class thing at Westcroft Leisure centre it used to be on wed at 11am but check with them. Have a nap every afternoon, MN loads, spring clean and sort out all the jobs you want doing but just tackle one a day so you pace yourself. Also do you want to meet up I think EmmalinaC is also in our area so we could meet up over the Easter hols if you are keen.Anyone else in Sutton/ Surrey/ Carshalton area??

LoobyLou36 · 30/03/2009 11:13

having a fed-up day today at work

pelvis is killing me and having to go up and down 2 flights of stairs all the time is no fun

Febes · 30/03/2009 11:17

Ok I just did friend request of you all on FB group so confirm me if you want. I'm Fiona B in real life by the way.

I am very excited about the group as well especially the cocktails logo.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 30/03/2009 11:19

Detsy

I can be quite blunt sometimes

Off to the supermarket now, have to get everything done early, as DD1 is at the Docs this afternoon - she has, I think, encopresis which is (TMI alert) 'soiling' - she has chronic constipation (she has a really healthy diet on the whole and is pretty active, so we're wondering if she has an intolerance to something) and there is 'ahem' leakage around the blockage. She's had it before, it's awful, as she doesn't know it's happening and it's pretty smelly, as I'm sure you can imagine. Not nice for a 10 year old. Anyhoo, this is the worst yet, so I think it may be suppositories or an enema this time as nothing has shifted the blockage.

Sorry for that - hope no-one was eating......

SpangleMaker · 30/03/2009 11:27

Morning everyone

detsy lol at blue streaks, am jealous in fact as am now too old for mad hair colours!

1stMrsF until yesterday (when having a bit of show freaked me out for a moment LO was on his way far too soon) I saw the 5wks til my due date being an absolute age. Now I'm panicking there won't be enough time to do everything! I've made a list of things to do in two halves, one half 'worthy' stuff like spring cleaning, washing, cooking stuff for freezer, exercise - and the other half fun/relaxation stuff like napping, seeing friends, hair done etc. My aim is to

SpangleMaker · 30/03/2009 11:28

gah! bloody laptop!

... my aim is to do something off each list each day, though I'm sure some days I'll feel more energetic than others.

Blottedcopybook · 30/03/2009 11:34

Oh no Grumpy! Poor wee soul, that must be absolutely horrific for her to deal with

SpangleMaker · 30/03/2009 11:39

Oh grumpy, your poor DD At 10yo she's old enough to be upset about it too poor thing. Hope the doc manages to fix things for her as painlessly as possible.

llareggub hope you get some advice soon. I've accepted your friend request, thank you How do I go about joining the group, do I need to search for it?

LoobyLou36 · 30/03/2009 11:40

grumpy sorry to hear about your DD

llareggub · 30/03/2009 11:43

I'm not quite sure what I am doing with my maternity leave, but it is sure passing by quickly! I seem to be doing more washing and ironing than I ever thought possible. We've decorated our bedroom and the baby's bedroom, I'm going out and about with DS and feeding my DS lite addiction. Oh, and mumsnetting. I'm generally just pottering about really, getting the housework done, exercising and wondering how on earth I used to cope with working as well.

The doctor rang. He is a diabetes specialist rather than a obstetrician and he has advised cutting my insulin dose in the interim and then reviewing at the joint clinic on Wednesday. He said that sometimes in the last 2 weeks of pregnancy the diabetes starts to improve. Of course, once he said this I started to panic as I am only 34 weeks, so I rang the midwife for reassurance. I am now suitably reassured! Thing is, I'm not altogether convinced by the due date they gave me as by my dates I'd be 36 weeks, which is 2 weeks out. I had DS at 37 weeks, so who knows?

Either way, I am trying to reassure myself that my low readings are due to a combination of too high an insulin dose, coming to the end of my pregnancy and me generally getting the hang o the diet.

Got to run and pick up DS from nursery. I have to say, I LOVE British Summer Time as DS was up at the civilised time of 6.45 am rather than his usual 6am this morning.

LoobyLou36 · 30/03/2009 11:45

llare glad you got some advice from specialist - I'm still waiting for a phone call

Belgianchocolates · 30/03/2009 12:09

llare good to hear you had some good advice from a proper diabetes specialist. Being 2 weeks out is quite a lot, isn't it. Maybe your true due date is somewhere inbetween? Unless you've had IVF you can never be 100% sure when you conceived, can you. It makes me wonder who will be the first of us to give birth. April is coming up and there's bound to be a few who will have their babies in April. I hope I'll have mine end of april, 38 weeks. Sounds good to me!

looby Hope you're getting a phone call soon. Does your work always involve going up and down 2 flights of stairs. Can't someone else do the walking? They must know you're struggling. Oh and how's the situation with your pay? Any improvement yet?

grumpy hope your dd gets sorted soon. It must be really horrible for her. Suppositories do work really well for constipation. I had to do it with my dd once and she'd done on within an hour. (she was 3 at the time and I found the big lump on the floor )

It was me btw who was wondering about Polony. I hope she's OK. She used to be on here all the time. I can't remember her mentioning a holiday or anything.

Jael · 30/03/2009 12:21

Hiya everyone.

Spangle I'm due to have my CS at the end of April, I'm still in the process of being referred to Stoke Hospital, so I'll have to see a consultant there who will hopefully tell me when they'll be doing it.

llareggub I've emailed you about joining the facebook group

Me and DP had a little falling out yesterday, we'd agreed on our boy's name ages ago, well so I thought, and now he's decided he's not keen and that he was hoping the name grew on him over time...so I'm still abit P.O, i thought we were all ready, and we can never agree on a boys name, plus I relly liked the name we'd picked too...he did kinda make up for upsetting me by driving us to Dovedale, where we took DD to feed the ducks, and had a lovely drive seeing all the baby lambs.

Just found you all on FB

Jael according to the hospital I'm due 1 May so it's possible we could be in at the same time Don't know if your DP is like this, but DH is one of those people who likes to keep an open mind right up to the end. sometimes I can find that infuriating, eg when we get in the car to go somewhere, start the engine, he goes 'so we're going to x then are we, not y? Or what about z?' - aaarghh! Maybe the thing to do is to let him have a little while to think of some alternatives, discuss & pretend to consider them, then go back to your original idea

HtheH · 30/03/2009 12:39

Hello everyone, have been off line for so long now and is taking me ages to catch up with everyone's news. I hope you are all well. Great news about having your diabetes under such great control Llaregubb and I hope your duaghter is ok Grumpy, sounds awful for her. I hope those of you who have been feeling down are getting some good support from their midwives/doctors, and if not then mumsnet seems to be such a great place for support too.
I am getting very large now, and have just got back from midwives appointment and apparently baby already 4/5s engaged, no wonder I feel like I have done the splits and can't walk without a waddle! I am only 33+1 so hope he stays in there a bit longer, but have to say I have no problem if he does come a bit early, just not this early! I am a bit concerned about my mini GTT result from a month ago. The reading was 7.4 and I thought that was quite high? No one has mentioned it to me, they just recorded the results on my notes. Does anyone know if this is high? I am just worried as this was a month ago and what if it has got worse and now I am full blown GD and not being treated? Midwife seemed to think it was borderline but didn't seem concerned. The test was taken first thing in the morning having not eaten since the evening before and having drunk 300ml of lucozade and hour before. Any of you experts out there have any advice?
I would also love to join the facebook group, how do I find it?
Anyone else getting very excited now?!

Reggiee · 30/03/2009 12:56

Hi all.

Am enjoying my mat leave (although still logging on and responding to work emails in a can't-let-go-manner). Have a huge to-do list but am being very good at ploughing through it - essential things like packing hospital bags, washing and sorting dd baby clothes, pulling all baby stuff from the loft and cleaning it, rearranging the kitchen etc, then more fun stuff like making jam (yes really - never done it before and fancy giving it a go! Anyone a jam making pro?). Has anyone packed hospital bags yet? And Spangle, thanks for putting about hair cut being on your list - I've booked the dentist but totally forgot about the hair cut!

Still v tired though, due to anaemia. Since taking iron tablets and supplements, by blood count has gone down to 8 and not pleasant side effects.

Belgian I was wondering who would give birth first too. Family history here with dsis and mum is the second + borns have been at least three weeks early . Dd was a week early. Plus I don't want it to come late as I really want to let dh go to Wembley for a very very rare sporting event mid-May .

Grumpy your poor dd. Hope the trip to the drs is productive.

Need to consider my birth plan later today as have final visit with consultant tomorrow first thing. Am still so confused - had a crash cs with dd due to her being undiagnosed footling breech, but want a VBAC without excessive intervention. It seems to be a problem for the drs....

Anyway, going to get some lunch now (hummus and spinach sandwich I think) followed by a gentle stroll . Don't talk too much or I won't be able to catch up

Blottedcopybook · 30/03/2009 13:07

Dandy That makes sense, thanks. I guess I just assumed that because I thought I'd been fairly jovial in my first post that anyone reading would get that I wasn't particularly bothered about her catching this. If the nursery had been the culprit and hadn't warned me, I'd have been annoyed only because I didn't have the warning if that makes sense? I'm well resigned to the fact that my little snotters catch every bloody bug and germ on the go!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 30/03/2009 13:28

Thanks for kind thoughts about DD1, it's just horrible, but especially at her just pre-pubescent age, she has enough changes going on in her skinny little body. I used to get frustrated and cross with her as I thought she was somehow doing it deliberately (a 'dirty protest') but of course she's not. [horrible witch hag mother smiley] It happens every now and then, I sometimes wonder if all the hormonal changes going on with her contribute to it. Anyway, we should be sorted this afternoon......

Durr, just did the shopping and did myself a mischief carrying in very large and heavy bag (stupid stupid).

Re due dates and stuff, both my DD's were 2 weeks over, so I worry I may go into June before I have this LO .

I wonder too who will be the first to 'pop'.............

I hope those with GD are ok, it would do my head in, frankly, but then I've resented giving up various foods anyway.

llareggub · 30/03/2009 13:28

HtheH I think my GTT reading was either 7.4 or 7.8, which I was told was the cut-off point for treatment or no treatment and therefore borderline. Mine was diagnosed pretty early though due to PCOS. I guess if you really wanted to be on the safe side you could follow a diabetic diet or low GI diet and avoid sugar as much as possible. It isn't as restrictive as it sounds; I've just shared half a custard doughnut with DS which has under 15g of sugar per 100g, so absolutely fine as a diabetic.

Jael the email address you gave me doesn't come up on facebook so I'll email you with my details so you can find me instead.

blotted I've come across some fairly argumentative types on mumsnet and some days I can be bothered with it and some days I can't. I don't think I've got into an argument but someone did call me patronising and insulting the other day!

DS was born at 37 weeks so I am hopeful that this one will pop out around 38 weeks, which is the date they've suggested as a possible induction.

Belgianchocolates · 30/03/2009 13:49

grumpy Don't worry, I think all mums do this at some point or another. I remember getting impatient with the dcs for them being whiny/difficult only for them to get ill later that day or the next morning, which is off course why they were crabby in the first place. Being a mum is sometimes one big guilt trip I think.

Reggie I'm sure some one has told you that before anyway, but are you taking your iron with orange juice? It helps it get absorbed more easilly by your body. I hope you get the minimal intervention VBAC you're hoping for. The last one I've done was pretty much as minimal as a hospital VBAC gets. The woman did have a CTG, but I didn't get her cannulated or anything and I'm not one of those mw who forces women who are monitored to stay on the bed, so she was on all 4's for the delivery itself.

HtheH I'm afraid I can't help with the GD question. My knowledge with regards to GD really is only basic. If I do encounter someone I'm constantly on the phone with the GD ward or mw myself .
Just a little note about your baby's engagement. If it says 4/5 in your notes, then that means your mw can feel 4/5 of baby's head and only 1/5 is in your pelvis, meaning he is on the way, but not actually engaged yet. With 2nd or more babies the head doesn't always engage until you're in labour or it sort of pops in and out.

blotted I had a look at your thread and I suppose I can see where some of them are coming from, but I always wonder why people bother saying stuff like 'who cares where your dd picked it up', because if they've got nothing more useful to say, then why say anything at all? Clearly it's important to you, for your own good reasons.

OK am I being dim here but how do I get on the FB site?

llare do I just email you from my normal hotmail address?

2.5 days till ML starts!

Yep, just email me on llareggubmn at gmaildotcom

1stMrsF · 30/03/2009 13:57

LOL: those of you with kids have reminded me how precious this time is - won't be this quiet in the house with twins for a long time to come! I will stop saying I am bored and enjoy it!

Grumpy I sympathise. DH is doing a new job which involves over 2 hours commute each way and I find it quite difficult being on my own for so much time each day. I echo the baking - it is quite nice to have time for nice cooking as well as the everyday dinner chores!

pula I am exhausted just thinking about doing all of the things you are planning to do! You have reminded me that I've been putting off getting a haircut though. My hairdresser closed down before Christmas and I haven't been able to face the trauma of finding a new one, especially pregnant. Luckily my hair is long so it can survive a long wait between cuts, but if I don't do it before the babies arrive, then I might be pushing it a bit too far by the time I can venture out!

Febes Thank you for suggestions I am East Surrey and interested in a meet in theory, but I don't think I'll be going too far from the house now - I'm just so big that I can't drive and get very tired very quickly. Perhaps when the babes are born though? I can't imagine what I am going to do if nesting instinct kicks in as loading the dishwasher makes me breathless so there won't be much cleaning from me!

It's unlikely I'll go past 38 weeks with twins, so end of April latest for my birth announcement I would think.
