Hi Everyone, i'm 19 weeks pregnant with my first baby, officially due on the 8th October but will be a C section delivery so will prob be born back end of September. At my 15 week scan, the sonographer was "95% sure" that we're expecting a boy Will hopefully get confirmation of that at my 22 week scan on the 3rd June, but we'll be happy either way.

mawbroon · 15/05/2005 22:44

Hi Nervousmum2be. Is this your first? I think you are the first on the thread who knows they are having a boy. The others who know seem to all be having girls!

Glad to hear you are OK JM. Hopefully that will be the end of the troubles that you were having. Unless you turn out to have two appendixes like Keith Chegwin!! My oh my, my brain is just full of such trivia. Really must get a grip of myself!

Hope you all have a good week.

jolovett · 16/05/2005 09:27

What an amazing day it was yesterday - lush weather - sat out in the garden for the afternoon. Hope you all had a good weekend.

You probably all know due to my constant referall to it - but I'm having my 20 week scan tomorrow. I feel like it's Christmas Eve I'm so excited! Just hope I can covince them to tell me what it is - but nobody I know has got it out of them yet! I'll be keeping a close watch out for any obvious signs though.

Finally found a boys name that we like - Kylan (pronouced as k-eye-lan) and Rhys as a middle name. I was starting to panic as we have a long list of girls names we like, but very few boys.

JM - glad you're better, thank goodness they found out what was wrong, must have been so worrying for you and JD. Just take it easy now and make sure you get better.

Hope everyone else is well.

ruthiemum · 16/05/2005 10:29

JL do they not tell you what the sex is where you are? Wish they had that policy where I am, have my 20 week scan this Thurs and DH is still not wavering about finding out and I am desperate to know and it is just too tempting to ask while you are there - really excited though

YOKEFLEET · 16/05/2005 10:37

JM - glad your doing better!!

Jolovett - I also have my 20w scan tomorrow so I know exactly how you feel!!!! I can't wait - it's worse then Xmas!!

bonniej · 16/05/2005 10:49

ooohhhhh all these scans coming up, I'm so excited for everyone, I know how I felt last Thursday. So far I think I've had mine: girl, Susi has had hers: girl also and nervousmum2be:boy. It would be good to keep a list of all those who have found out and then see how many were accurate!! To all those who won't get told or whose dh's don't want to know look really closly and most of the time it is quite obvious. When they are doing all their measuring they tend to zoom in quite nicely and in my case I got an excellent view! Obviously I suppose baby has to be lying in the right position. Anyway good luck and keep us posted on all the news JM, welcome back

jessicasmummy · 16/05/2005 11:51

i havent got mine til 8th june!!!! im jealous!

ok so they did do a quick scan last monday to check babe was ok when i was poorly, before they gave in and decided it was my appendix! and he/she is a little wriggler!

dont tell me here the sex either! Wish they did tho!

tew · 16/05/2005 12:04

Don't have my scan till 7th June, and dh will be away with work which is a bore, so I've booked in my mother. As it's no2, less vital that he's there, although would love him to be.

Had the most terrible food poisoning on Friday night, up all night being violently sick, not much fun, trying to feed a baby and be sick at the same time. Feel ok now, assume/hope hasn't affected the baby. Am 17/1/2 weeks, any similar experience anyone?

Sorry Jessicamummy, doesn't half compare to appendicitis, but would love any shared experiences to put my mind at rest! Thx.

jessicasmummy · 16/05/2005 12:06

dont worry - i think ive got all the well wishes i deserve now!

Someone else's turn.....

no experience of food poisoning in pregnancy im afraid.... hope u feel better now though xxx

Elf1981 · 16/05/2005 12:36

Afternoon all. Tew, I wouldn't worry too much. Had very similar experience over Easter, sick constantly for three days, couldn't keep water down at one point. Had the added stress of spotting as well at the time. Had my first scan in April and was told everything was fine. Hope you feel better soon. Had really bad upset tummy myself on Saturday night, was up poorly from 3 - 5. Eurgh. Serves me right for eating what I did, I guess!!
Feeling okay in myself today, my appitite seems to have returned, which is great. Though still feel a bit squiffy at some points in the day. At least managed a bit better food than yesterday - four chocolate bars! I'd but they tasted so good I don't care!!
I'm 18 + 5, and have got 22 days until my scan. Not that I'm eager for it to arrive or anything...
Anybody had the problem of people thinking it's okay to touch your bump?!!

tew · 16/05/2005 13:24

Thanks Elf1981. I think as I was so sick, it's probably all fine for the baby.

Yes, all the time with first baby, they say "do you mind if I touch your baby" and go ahead anyway. Most annoying!

jolovett · 16/05/2005 13:32

Eeeashk - just came back from my lunch hour - my boss had been into my office and put up internet explorer and left it open on today's viewed pages and left the JoJoMamaBebe page up on it. Oh well -I'm allowed to have a break aren't I and it's my choice if I want to look at a few websites. Don't like the way he done it though - I was just talking to him - why didn't he just ask? Never mind roll on maternity leave!

Sorry to hear about your sickness - sorry no experience of food poisoning here. Is there anyone you can ring to set your mind at rest? I've been given the midwife's number to ring her with any problems/questions.

tew · 16/05/2005 13:52

Jolovett, think that's very unreasonable of your boss. If he has an issue with how you're handling your workload he should talk to you rather than making snide actions!

alterego · 16/05/2005 13:57

Just back from booking in appointment. Baby alive and well. Midwife said she could feel where the baby was - didn't realise they could tell at this stage - and that my bump felt really nice - whatever that means. However, other than midwives I don't really like people touching my bump. Not even that keen on dh doing it but I suppose it would be mean not to allow him to. Don't really know why (with dh) either - maybe because there's not actually anything to feel as such yet, although I have had a few little gentle nudges from within.

jessicasmummy · 16/05/2005 14:12

i lvoe the fact i can feel babe juming about now - just wish it would hold off til the op pain has gone!

tew · 16/05/2005 14:16

I can't feel a thing yet, but was very late with my first dd, so think it's ok. How pregnant are you jessicamummy, I'm 17 1/2 weeks?

jessicasmummy · 16/05/2005 14:17

im the same - when u due? i only just started feeling things the last few days - think the surgeon must have given him/her a scare on friday!

tew · 16/05/2005 14:38

Around the 21st Oct, although they can't seem to agree, but that's what I'm basing everything on. Poor you, horrid time you've had, but fingers crossed can now start recovering. You have other children don't you? How old is Jessica? Florence is 8 1/2 months, so will be busy for the next few years!

jessicasmummy · 16/05/2005 15:35

jess is 9.5 months and im due 21st october too!!! i know what you mean about being busy!!!!
