hi every one. jessicasmummy not well. baby is okay tho

triceratops · 10/05/2005 10:21

Morning everyone. I am getting morning sickness again which is no fun. I weighed myself yesterday after reading all this about putting weight on - and I haven't yet. Probably due to puking I imagine.

I had a tiny bump last time and the consultant at the hospital was worried about it being a small baby, 40 mins later ds was born at 9lb7 (they had to weigh him three times as they couldn't believe it).

So comparing bumps is about as productive as when we will all be comparing when our babies first roll over or when they all get their first tooth. It is impossible not to do it but it doesn't mean anything at all

Sorry to hear that you are poorly JM, hope it is nothing too serious. Hope Jessicasdaddy is looking after you properly.

Can't wait to hear your news Susis

Lexie100 · 10/05/2005 10:51

Don't get scan till 23 wekks here so have to wait till 17th June. Sat here eating mango - have had cravings for fruit for ages so went out and bought a pinapple, strawberrys and loads of apples.

Hope you are feeling better jessica's mummy.

Good luck with scan too. I think mine is a boy but hay who cares.

jolovett · 10/05/2005 11:17

Sorry to hear you're not well jessicasmummy, hope you get better soon and make sure you look after the bub.

Thanks for the advice on the breech - just what I thought, but my s-i-l is a proper worrier.

I think I'm having a boy (have no idea why) - we'll see. Got a 50/50 chance of getting it right. Don't mind either way - waited so long for JJ to come along in the first place so grateful to be having anything at all!

mawbroon · 10/05/2005 11:40

Morning all.

Elf my boobs went up two cup sizes in week 5! Fortunately they seem to have stabilised now and I don't have to add "new bra" to my shopping list every week! They were really sore at the beginning and I had to wear a bra in bed as they hurt when I turned over, but now they are just fine except for a big black hair growing out the edge of the dark bit (forget the name) of one of my nipples! I am too chicken to pull it out as I bet it will hurt. DH thinks it's minging. I tell you - if a wee hair freaks him out then heaven help him when it gets to the birth!!

Some lovely sunshine here today. Shame I am off work with a stinking cold and can't make the most of it....

SusiS · 10/05/2005 13:34

awwww jessicamummy! let jdaddy look after you - get well soon

hmm, i think it's a girl! just because it's so different to the last pregnancy - but agreed: who cares (scan is at 3.20!!!)

I think i have been to the loo about 30 times already today. It brings a whole new meaning to fitness regime.

Went to see the doc for AN and baby heart rate was 140 min. The relief in hearing it was outstanding. They really should take your blood pressure after you hear the little ones not before!

Let us know as soon as you have had your scan, i'm really excited for you.

mishmash2 · 10/05/2005 13:49

Best of luck for the scan SusieS. I hope you feel better JM.

My boobs are officially enormous. I went to the gym for the first time in 8 weeks at the w'end and couldn't even get my sports bra over my shoulders - let alone my boobs! Oh help! I'm going to be one of those Mum's with 44J cup size at teh end .

As for weight..... well again not good news. I fear I have put on 3/4 stone already.....and I didn't like the link that said that we will now put on 1 pound a week. That's another 20 pounds!!! Will I fit in the front door........?

bonniej · 10/05/2005 13:55

Oh susi, i'm so excited for you. I completely agree about the boobs thing. Mine were a 34c before and now they are HUGE! I've gone out and bought 36D bras which are now too small I ended up with blisters on my back I've got to now go and get 38D at least. I've put on just under half a stone so far and I'm sure that's mainly boob weight

bonniej · 10/05/2005 14:14

just had the hospital on the phone with the results of my ds screening test, my risk of having a baby with this are very very low one in 6900. I am really relieved. I know it's silly to worry but we all do. I decided not to have an amnio so shouldn't really have had the test in the first place, but i'm really pleased now.

mawbroon · 10/05/2005 14:38

Good luck with all the tests/scans etc.

I thought I would make a banoffi pie for myself and DH for a treat and guess what.....

I have just scoffed the whole tin of condensed milk and all of the 1,000 calories that are in it!!! I am now surfing the net for a recipe that needs the digestive biscuit base which I have made seeing I have no condensed milk to make the pie.

Oink oink. but I just couldn't stop myself and am actually quite shocked at what I have just done. The worst thing is that I have a bad cold and didn't even really taste it

Lexie100 · 10/05/2005 15:23

I'm glad it's not just me then. I really fancied opening a huge box of chocolates and scoffing the lot. Luckily we didn't have any otherwise i'd be in the same place as you.

What about a cheese cake?

Boobs bigger but not dramatically huge. Dh thinks they are wonderful, typical!

mawbroon · 10/05/2005 15:36

Just put my chocolate fudge cake (with digestive biscuit base) into the oven. Luckily I had all the other ingredients in the house. I had better not try any of it before DH comes home or there might not be any of that left either!!!

jolovett · 10/05/2005 16:05

Mmmm...chocolate. You guys have put it into my mind now, I'll have to take a detour past the shop on my walk home from work now!

My boobs went huge at the start and have gradually kept growing since. Had to invest in some bigger bras.

I'm really jumpy today - has anyone experienced this? The smallest noise is making me jump - and we're in the process of moving office today so people have been taking shelves and packing boxes around me so I've had a very startled day today! Can't wait for the office move to be over - the new office is just a 1 minute drive from my house which means an extra half hour in bed in the mornings for me - woohoo!

mawbroon · 10/05/2005 16:21

Jolovett - you will think it is fab working so near to home. I used to work just across the road from where I lived and it was brilliant. Coming home at lunchtime was the big bonus for me. Then they did the opposite of your work and moved to a much further away office, so I left! I am planning to do the ultimate in non-commuting once baby is born. I am almost registered as a childminder (should just be a couple of weeks now) and will hopefully be working from home after my maternity money runs out! I love being at home. I know that sounds a bit sad, but I sometimes feel like a hamster on a wheel going out to work every day (20 mile commute each way) to pay for the house that I am never in because I am out all day working to earn money to pay for it.... Does that make sense????

jolovett · 10/05/2005 17:02

Know exactly how you feel. I used to work a 40 mile trip away from my house. Luckily my job doesn't require me to be in office so my boss is happy for me to do some work at home when JJ comes along. I was lucky to find this job when I did. The company I used to work for went bust a month after I finished with them and two weeks after I started the new job I found out I was pg. People are great about it here so very lucky as they could have been funny about it.

Hope the childminding goes well - you must have the patience of a saint to look after your own and other people's as well. Good luck.

mawbroon · 10/05/2005 17:16

ha ha. Well, I am hoping that i have the patience of a saint. This is my first baby, so the shocking reality of looking after kids day in day out may have me scurrying back to work faster than you can say "dirty nappy". There's only one way to find out if childminding is for me or not, and that's to try it out. Any money that I spend getting set up (eg on toddler equipment etc) will not be wasted as my baby will need it when (s)he is older anyway. I am a well organised person and I think that is half the battle. Ask me again in a years time!!!

Elf1981 · 10/05/2005 17:47

I read somewhere that some places wont measure you for a bra size while pregnant. Was I dreaming or is this correct? Def need a couple of new bras. Straining at the hinges in the ones I've got at the moment!

JM - hope you get better soon.

Will post later, off to cook dinner.

Joseyjo · 10/05/2005 18:24

never heard of that elf - M&S or Mothercare are your best bet and they don't shout at you for wearing a totally inappropriate bra to get measured in!!!

i weighed myself this morning and i have put on about 6 or 7lbs, which is about right i think. some of it is definitely boob, but my beloved dh told me that most of it is on my arse!!!! my bump is also monstrous - one of my friends asked me yesterday when i was due and then pissed themselves when i said i had the best part of 5 months to do... oh well, onwards to fatness!!

about that jumpy thing - it is a proper pregnancy thing from back in cavemen days - you are more vulnerable to attack from predators (due to being slower etc)and so you instinctively have a stronger "fight or flight" response. basically meaning that every time you are standing with your back to the door and dh comes in talking, you will piss yourself and cause him hilarity . it would be nice tot hink that this would only happen once, but as it is so effective, it has to be tested to its fullness, so i get boo'd about 8 times a day when he is at home. meany.....

he has a new ladder and is outside testing it (i know!!!) so i have to go and show enthusiasm now, later.....

Joseyjo · 10/05/2005 18:37

also, meant to share - i bought the most comfortable bra ever - look here if you are interested, i know it is underwired, but it is lovely. i sulk when it is in the wash!!
blooingmarvellous super bra

mawbroon · 10/05/2005 18:40

Elf - I just measured myself for a new bra. I found a website that tells you how to do it, but I can't remember where. I'm sure if you Google for for something like "maternity bra measurements" then you will find some info. It's to do with the measurement round your ribs and round your bust and the difference determines your cup size. I bought x2 new bras at week 5 and by far the better one was a maternity one from M&S which didn't have cups as such, just a sturdy panel across the front to hold you in and a million different hooks on the back so that you can adjust it as and when neccessary. The other one had cups and I have nearly outgrown it, but the M&S one will do me for ages.

I always find the word "cups" to do with bras very amusing. Tee hee hee How childish am I??

Joseyjo · 10/05/2005 18:45

try this one for boob measurements (have just worked out how to do links, so now i am showing off )
boob measuring
haven't tried it myself, but it should be pretty standard.

ruthiemum · 10/05/2005 19:00

LOL at boob talk - had to buy myself bigger bra last week, didn't get them measured though was too embarrased! Well feeling quite emotional this week - DS been quite poorly and feel like he is going to be pushed out of the way when baba no 2 gets here. DH thinks I'm going mad, keep crying at really pathetic things and blaming him for absoutely everything, then feel even madder when he gets out of my way cos I think he doesn't care, then have full tears again! Keep telling myself to get a grip!

Joseyjo · 10/05/2005 20:11

going mad is all part of the fun - i say embrace is and wander round asda with your knickers on your head whilst sobbing uncontrollably!!!

sorry - have been feeling v v rough for days and always go a bit hyper when i start to feel better. downside of that is that i have to go back to work tomorrow... grrrrr

ruthiemum · 10/05/2005 20:32
  • am going to have my hair cut off to cheer myself up ( or not if I don't like it!) DH says it will make my face look big, I don't know if he meant it would enhance my fat face or because I have long hair it would look bigger if I have it chopped off, felt too emotional to ask! LOL Plus 20 week scan in two weeks, trying to work on DH to find out the sex he doesn't want to know because he wants a surprise and I don't - I need to know!
