Let the ramblings commence.

open one's windows - what a quaint idea!

Juwesm · 11/03/2009 09:25

When I project manage restoration of my enormous Georgian house, I shall uPVC the whole damn thing!!

brettgirl2 · 11/03/2009 09:26

I don't like UPVC that much!!!!

SpringySunshine · 11/03/2009 09:27

Nutty, you ate chalk? Excellent - will it be charcoal next? I want a silly pregnancy craving! All of mine have been food anyway, which is no fun! MM can keep the ice, though - it'd really be hurting my mouth! about your worries WRT birth / CS. I really agree with Boff - push for it on psychiatric grounds if you're really struggling that much with the idea (& I can see why you are!).

Swaliswan, I'm a bit about DH wanting to put your occupation down as 'housewife' just because you're on ML! There are quite a few threads around where people are in similar situations - the general advice is to pay a cleaner! Would you be able to do that? Either behind his back, or not? Even if it's just a one off to help you out right now, so you can start right back on top of everything? (Personally, given everything you've said, I'd be inclined to get a cleaner on a regular basis - you're going to have a newborn & a toddler, with apparently not very much support - you don't want to increase your chances of PND for the sake of a few quid if you can possibly stretch to it...)

Boffin, nice call with making DH go for a brain scan Poor man doesn't stand a chance against you

Puzzle, that's how I feel about the lying thing - I feel that I really could forgive most things in most circumstances. Even if he did something really awful, as long as he was honest about it, I could probably work through it given time. I think at this point I'm going to have to let it go in terms of bringing up a huge argument, but I will make that clear to him as soon as the opportunity arises to do it subtly. & my Tesco shopping wasn't even that heavy! There was a lot of it, but the bulk of it was nappies, maternity pads, 16 toilet rolls & so on - large things but not heavy! (I knew the Grolsch wouldn't all be for you - you'd much rather have champagne, no? )

bronze, I hope you're okay, sweetheart xx

purplemonkeydishwasher · 11/03/2009 09:30

morning everyone!

a few things:

PUZZLE - DO NOT take nurofen, it's iboprofen and you aren't supposed to take it in pregnancy.

Auld - must be something in the air last night. DS was having nightmares as well.

He's got a bee/fly phobia and was screaming that they were flying around and we needed to kill them. He managed to kick DH in the goulies in the process of screaming and squirming. I finally convinced DH to turn the fecking light on and all was well. men! sometimes they just have no common sense!!

oh yes the old PND questionnaire! (bunch of bollocks if you ask me!) i am in the lucky position to have to fill it out NOW becuase of my past ishoos with PND.

the stupid thing about that questionnaire is that question about whether you can see the funny side of things, or are able to laugh or whatever. I am amazing at hiding how i feel. so i can still laugh and be 'normal' even when i'm feeling suicidal. The midwife said to me 'oh we'd be able to tell if you were down'. really? becuase that particular week i cried constantly. did she notice? did she fuck.

anyway! i'm still really sore from my burst of cleanliness yesterday. the kitchen SOOOOOO needs doing though. we'll see how i feel in a bit.

i'm very of htose of you with proper freezers BTW. we just have the one in the fridge which has inches of ice in it despite me telling DH it needs to be defrosted so that we can stock it up.

SpringySunshine · 11/03/2009 09:31

Swali, I'm glad DH came good with the shopping, but I still think that you could do with some extra help if it's at all possible.

brettgirl, I agree with Ju - I think most women either wear a long t-shirt, or nothing at all.

uPVC will make your house fall down? Oh dear

brettgirl2 · 11/03/2009 09:32

Don't worry purple, we were talking about her taking it after she's had the baby, not before.

brettgirl2 · 11/03/2009 09:34

I may have exaggerated to make the point more amusing, but it will cause damp problems due to mildew apparently .

purplemonkeydishwasher · 11/03/2009 09:35

oh ok. sorry. see what happens when you have to catch up on 18 hours of this thread?

SpringySunshine · 11/03/2009 09:36

purplemonkey, don't worry - Puzzle's dreaming of the post-natal days when she can take nurofen if she's still having migraines. I often look longingly at my array of forbidden medicines whenever I'm feeling crappy - not long now!

On this topic of disturbed nights which you all seem to have had, DH woke me up last night grinning & staring at his hand which he was waving around in mid-air, saying 'my niggly thumb feels weird!'
'what?'
'I have a niggly thumb'
'...okay?'
& then he rolled over & went back to sleep. Leaving me wide awake for the next two hours. I was really pissed off at the time, but I can see the funny side now. Even if I do feel sick with sleep deprivation. Neither of us have any idea what a niggly thumb may be

SpringySunshine · 11/03/2009 09:37

Well we do have a lot of damp here I'm not sure if it'd be the case if we had classy, wooden windows. Our dehumidifier is arriving tomorrow anyway, so HA! I'm solving the problem and keeping my 'inferior' windows

Swaliswan · 11/03/2009 09:43

We have wooden windows and still have damp. I'd love to have some nice UPVC windows so that they are easier to clean the mildew off and won't expand in the winter with the rain meaning that they are wedged shut permanently. But then we do live in a block of flats that don't really need wooden windows to maintain it's character - not like a massive Georgian house

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 11/03/2009 09:46

Morning

Boffin lol at your ds2 hes sooo right

and Amen indeed to it being great when its over.

Puzzle - glad you're feeling better this morning ((hugs)) LOL at ballons enticing 8yr old party goers

Auld ((hugs)) good luck with the translating

Swaliswan - dont feel guilty we all need to let off steam now and again, misplaced o not. Glad you feel better this morning and that he's been really helpful x

Brettgirl - i would suggest a tankini and a t-shirt on top (it will probably all come off anyway though in the end)

SpringySunshine · 11/03/2009 09:48

Well yes, exactly - we live in a very new build, so it doesn't look strange at all.

Is it really bad that I'm looking forward to playing with my dehumidifier? I'm gutted that you have to let it sit for 24 hours before using it otherwise you void the warranty (I don't know why ) because I'm going to Brum for the weekend on Friday & I'm going to miss the excitement of most of it - I'll have to leave as soon as I start it up!

... Pregnancy has ruined me

purplemonkeydishwasher · 11/03/2009 09:50

springy - are you really supposed to leave it for that long???

oops. should have made DH read the instructions when he brought ours home the other week!

brettgirl2 · 11/03/2009 09:51

I might leave it a week or so and start a thread about the virtues of lino flooring.

Tankini not a bad idea, although wouldn't fit in mine - I may go for bikini with t-shirt over the top (I have one that is quite large although bright pink lol)

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 11/03/2009 09:52

SPringy - yup, i ate chalk

Feels pride that my house has managed to remain standing even with the UPVC abhoration windows and doors

SpringySunshine · 11/03/2009 09:53

The one I've bought, yeah. I'm not sure about all of them. I only know because I read so many threads on Good Housekeeping on here about it - yours is probably fine. Mine's a Delonghi DEM10

brettgirl2 · 11/03/2009 09:53

I don't quite understand how they will know Springy?

SpringySunshine · 11/03/2009 09:54

Haha, 'I love lino! It's so versatile & so easy to clean up spills. We've just had it fitted in our living room because the children kept knocking drinks over & it's been a total Godsend!'

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 11/03/2009 09:55

Springy - leave it for 4 hours then turn it on they wont know you didnt leave it stand will they???

SpringySunshine · 11/03/2009 09:56

I have no idea how they'll know. I might not leave it depending on how important it seems when I look at it. I'm really impatient

Maybe the Delonghi people will be hiding in my bushes, watching to make sure I don't turn it on, along with ScottishMummy & my creepy malevolent husband?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 11/03/2009 09:57
SmuttyNuttyTaff · 11/03/2009 09:59

Lol blardy bush lurkers hose the bushes down before you turn it on to make sure there are no spys

brettgirl2 · 11/03/2009 10:00

Springy - brilliant but not yet or the ladies of surrey will know it's a wind up. (Apologies to anyone who lives in surrey and is normal for my appalling generalisation)

I do actually have a lovely lino floor in my bathroom.......
