Oh Trista that video is beautiful... so quiet and peaceful, that's EXACTLY what I'm plumping for a HB!

Speaking of which, it's my 34 week MW appt now so I'll be back in a bit!

tristaleejac · 10/03/2009 12:40

lol at electrocuting DH's in their sleep! ha ha

brettgirl2 · 10/03/2009 12:41

Trista - I've had a couple of nose bleeds since being pg, embarassingly both at work. I hadn't had one since my teens either. So you are a real life bathroom cabinet rifler. Not in my house, because I don't have one . It has never ever occured to me to do this!

Juwesm · 10/03/2009 12:42

Trista - hope you are feeling a bit better now, what a horrible night! Has the pain eased at all this AM? When are you going in to have it all rechecked? Thanks for the video tip - I may steel myself to have a look.

Nutty, BB - I deliberately like to sleep with bump pressed into DH's back so that all the internal flumping around can keep him awake as well - the odd boot in the back by a tiny foot does them good ! Best option is to get biggest bed you can find so you almost never meet accidentally in the night. Our bedroom contains superkingsize bed, and little else - there's barely room to move around the edges! But, I can roll over and occupy the middle and still be miles away from DH. Love it!

Surprise - sorry you are feeling so sicky. Why not call MW/ birthing centre just for an opinion today?

As brain has been removed by pregnancy, can someone tell me what it means if am right on the edge of the 'grey' section on my fundo-symphysis height chart - top edge?

LO still only 4/5, but has rolled over onto its right instead of left. Damn fidget!

surprisenumber3 · 10/03/2009 12:43

Brettgirl - I have to turn over loads, my shoulder, hip go numb otherwise. DH said everytime he wakes up I'm awake and he thinks I'm never asleep. Also, when I turn over I do involuntary moans so that wakes him up and then I'm off to the loo a couple of times - nightmare isn't it.

Juwesm · 10/03/2009 12:44

Trista - I've also had a couple of pg nosebleeds - haven't had once since I was 5! MW said was quite normal and due to increased blood flow in general (though I did have a bit of a panic when the first one happened and got them to check my BP on the ward at work!).

surprisenumber3 · 10/03/2009 12:45

I think I will call the community midwife helpline number - thanks.

brettgirl2 · 10/03/2009 12:45

Yes, I think that's the problem Juwes - we have a standard double. We generally find it fine when I am a normal size.

I don't have a grey section on my height chart, the interestingly unfathomable differences.

Juwesm · 10/03/2009 12:47

Thanks Brettgirl - am sure is unimportant as MW did not comment on it. Just trying to work out if it means LO is on small side/ big side/ nothing at all to do with size!! Anyone got a 1982 BMJ to hand?

tristaleejac · 10/03/2009 12:49

thanks for reassurance re nosebleeds, I'm such a wimp!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 10/03/2009 12:50

Juw- lol we have a queen size bed wich is huge but dh is 6"3 so takes up loads of room with his long self i feel more sorry for him actually cos i wake up crying/yelping in pain so he really doesnt get much sleep at all and he has to help me turn over/ move if i need to so i can forgive him a bum and an elbow really its just quite annoying

tristaleejac · 10/03/2009 12:50

juwesm - pain totally gone now, thanks

brettgirl2 · 10/03/2009 12:51

With ours there is a size conversion chart so based on the measurements you can (probably extremely unscientifically haha) guess-timate the current weight of your baby. I could provide this as a free service if anyone is interested. I take no responsibility for completely inaccurate predictions, however.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 10/03/2009 12:51

Suprise - i think thats a good idea xx good luck xx

brettgirl2 · 10/03/2009 12:58

It's just occurred to me that the growth chart I have is customised, so it will only work (non-scientifically) if you were 5'10" and 69kg pre-pregnancy haha

surprisenumber3 · 10/03/2009 13:01

well they weren't particularly caring they said I prob feel sick because of everything being squashed and when I mentioned bump being smaller they asked if I'd lost any water, I said no and they said to just keep midwife appointment tomorrow then!

Juwesm · 10/03/2009 13:07

Surprise - perhaps bump does just look smaller from your perspective. I was convinced for ages I had extremely neat and compact bump, as from up here it looks that way - then I caught sight of myself in profile.....

I would go with small frequent snacks, try and avoid all the acidic stuff, fatty foods, caffeine etc, and don't let the Gaviscon out of your sight (though recommend mint as I'm sure the aniseed one only acts as a purgative!).

Brettgirl - Oooh, give it a got for me! Am 37 weeks, 37cm. I am 5'10" but lets say substantially over 69kg!

Trista - just watched the video, what an amazing birth! She didn't seem to be in any pain at all! Am off out immediately to purchase floaty white labouring outfit and candles . Really don't think I'll pull it off though

tristaleejac · 10/03/2009 13:08

I hate that a lot (not all) of MW's are very blunt and unkind when talking to a worried pregnant woman. Do they not realise we dont just sit around thinking 'how can I piss off my MW?' we are asking them questions because we are genuinely worried about something. It's a bloody massive responsbility being a house for such a tiny person.
Sorry but I had to rant there. surprise - sorry to hear they were totally crap.

Juwesm · 10/03/2009 13:08

Also, did you see the cat sneak in at the end of the video? NCT teacher told us that cats tend to do that at homebirths. They lurk around getting in the way all through the first stage, disappear off when things get ugly, and then reappear right at the critical moment! Spooky! My cat went missing a few months ago though

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 10/03/2009 13:12

Suprise - sorry they were so crap and not very reassuring xx

brettgirl2 · 10/03/2009 13:14

7lbs 9oz!!!! That's at the top of my growth chart so the measurement is on the big side. (Assuming that height is more important than weight) No responsibility will be taken when your baby is 6lbs 12oz at full term lol.

tristaleejac · 10/03/2009 13:20

juwesm - glad you liked the vid. Must purchase floaty outfit too! I did notice the cat, it's quite mad but cool as well.
Sorry you're cat is missing

Juwesm · 10/03/2009 13:20

Thanks Brettgirl! I'd better start limbering up !

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 10/03/2009 13:21

Juw- the cats probably come back at the end so they can have some placenta pie

Juwesm · 10/03/2009 13:23

Mmmmmm, placenta pie.
