Hi everyone, congrats on all new arrivals!

Off to see MW later, am 38+4 still havin really painfull BH and really bad pains in my undercaridge which have been happening for nearly 2 weeks, sooooooo ready to have the baby now like many others!

It's DD's 4th BDay on fri and finally got round to getting her some pressies today, we had a little discussion on way to playschool about the possibility of me missing her party but she said she would bring the party to the hospital! so sweet!

We then have our wedding anniversary and my sisters Bday on the 18th plus a christening on sun, my uncles surprise 50th next sat and 3 other bdays over next week, i know im going to clash with something!

Boobz · 11/03/2009 11:46

Wow Livi - you are one busy lady!

Been bouncing for an hour - nothing happening yet! Baby is moving a lot more than normal though - probably telling me to give it a rest!

Madigan · 11/03/2009 12:15

Hello all

feeling thoroughly uncomfortable today - with serious pain in bladder area: hurts every time I move. really really sore/ I have had pee test, no infection. Dr says it is just position of baby - but boy is it debilitating. Anyone else have this????

Other than that, just resting up today ..... did not get much sleep last night. Am in awe of those with busy schedules /.... everything feels like such an effort at the moment!

meep · 11/03/2009 12:16

Just back from MW - I hate when they examine you for the baby's head - it hurts - ow!!!

have to go back next week to give LOTS of blood ahead of my c-section - ouch again!

Fruitynnutty I am with you in the weirdness of knowing when the baby is coming out but at the same time feel much more relaxed.

After the debachle of the BF workshoop yesterday my normal MW was so spologetic and is arranging to come to see me next week to talk through bf stuff so I am calm again (though I know I will blub when I talk to her about it )

corgi your monitoring sounds lovely - we get nothing like that. In fact I have never had an internal done unless I have actually started contractions. And you only get continuous monitoring if they are worried something is wrong or you've arrived in triage with the requested 5 mins between each contraction!!! And I promise you that lying on your back on an examination bed being monitored is the least comfortable and relaxing thing in the world (I insisted on standing up!)

titmouse · 11/03/2009 12:30

Madigan yes I get this, quite a lot last night and this morning in fact. I can tell if the baby has moved just slightly cos my bladder/lower belly gets unbeleivably heavy and tight and it's a struggle to stand up! then it wiggles a bit and all is well. It is a bit of a problem when walking down the street as with yesterday cos I just have to stand still and ask it nicely to get orf me bladder! it does sound like yours is more firmly wedged on your bladder, I hope LO moves soon and you get some relief.

titmouse · 11/03/2009 12:33

to be in keeping with the title of our thread - I keep feeling little dribbles of discharge it is getting quite watery. I don't normally feel it coming out. I don't think it is my actual waters as I am still 2 weeks off due date, but is this anything to worry about? MW coming this afternoon to drop of home birth box (at last) so I can always ask.

titmouse · 11/03/2009 12:34

sorry I am being so dim today I was thinking of the title of the last thread! duh. I am going now before I say anything else silly.

lizziemun · 11/03/2009 12:57

corgikelly

Not where i am in the uk.

Did sit and wait for 1hour last week at 39+5, but that was because they had booked 8 people at the same time. Was in with her long enough for them to test my water, take BP and a quick listen to baby hB (prob 5mins).

Starshinetiger · 11/03/2009 13:01

Well, after rejoining thread last week, have not managed to get back on again.
Congrats to all those with new arrivals and positive labour vibes in your direction, Wheely.
Think I am only one not willing my baby out! Pool for home birth arrived Mon, but won't stay inflated, so awaiting replacement, which should come tomorrow, but we're not in for all of tomorrow, so goodness knows when we'll actually get it - hopefully if it arrives while we're out, they'll leave it with a neighbour. Will be 39 weeks on Sunday, but DS has hospital appointment on Monday, so really aiming for any time Tuesday onwards. Mind you, baby still riding high and not showing any tendencies, so all sounding like it might work out (fatal last words I know!).
Titmouse - thanks for reminding me that I need to go and get nursing bras!

Wheelybug · 11/03/2009 13:11

Hi All

Just popping in to update you all that nothing's happening ! Woke up at 3.30 and thought I was getting some contractions but fell asleep about 5.30 so don't think they were ! Nothing happening today - been out and got my eyebrows plucked and waxed (had appt booked and was v. distraught last night at thought of missing it !) so now am ready !

My Mum has just reminded me that they think her waters went with me a week before they induced her and she'd had her waters broken with my brother which didn't send her into labour and I had my waters broken with dd and didn't go into labour so I'm thinking maybe it doesn't work here !!!

Oh well - feel quite calm about things at the moment. TBH it all feels somewhat surreal. I had a bit of a weep on DH last night that I probably wasn't going to get a VBAC. Today I feel there are more important things to worry about and its the end result that we need to focus on.

Boobz - hope the reflexology works. Of course, now I'm thinking if I hadn't had reflexology maybe my waters wouldn't have broken etc etc. Oh well, we'll never know - que sera sera...

Waves at everyone and wishes everyone lots of luck and contractions when they want them (or not if they don't !).

lollipopz · 11/03/2009 15:53

Good luck Wheely hope things work out for you. Well dh is out till about 10 tonight so i plan on putting kids to bed at 8 and pampering myself with some me time. Toying with the idea of using dh's muscle soak in the bath because it has clary sage in, although there is probably not enough in it to do anything and i still have 2 weeks to go so is prob pointless but no doubt i will do it anyway! Labour vibes to everyone esp Wheely x

honey123 · 11/03/2009 16:10

I can finally report that I have a gorgeous baby son Harry, born yesterday, at home, 8lb 7oz and doing fantastically! The whole labour was a bit hectic & I'm pretty exhausted so I will fill in with more details tomorrow
Boobz yes it was the castor oil, but I really wouldn't recomend it except as a v last resort!

kanga5 · 11/03/2009 16:32

congrats Honey on the birth of Harry, well done...how lovely to be at home, and can't wait to hear details when you're recovered.

Wheely sorry nothing happened...but you seem to be on the right track re focus on end result. Try to remember this is the month for action and we won't be pregnant forever..

Haven't heard from MKG for a while?

Meep I hope you get the support you need re BF...often it is easier second time round as you will be more aware and also know where to get advice.

Went out on Sunday for DS3 birthday and took baby bag so naturally nothing happened!!! Seeing midwife tomorrow, 38+2 now. Wish I could sleep all day and night....simply too tired to look after everyone now.

Boobz · 11/03/2009 17:04

oooh Honey - can't wait to hear your hb story! What happened with the castor oil?!

Boobz · 11/03/2009 17:04

Off to the theatre - having a curry beforehand.

COME ON BABY BOOBZ!

Wheelybug · 11/03/2009 17:20

Congratulations Honey - glad all went well.

meep - I meant to say before all this kerfuffle happened, I am so sorry to hear about the F up with the breastfeeding workshop. I think I've said before that I tried with dd and it didn't work but was able to deal with it because she was so little and thrived on formula and it was kind of what she needed to grow.

I do want to breastfeed this time round and will give it my best but I'm focussing on the fact that dd has shown absolutely no issues with having been bottlefed - which may be down to luck - so I am not going to beat myself up over it if it doesn't work out.

How do you feel your dd has been from having been ff ?

meep · 11/03/2009 18:27

wheely dd has been absooutely fine on formula - she thrived and loved her bottles. The problem was me - I just felt that I had failed her. My rational self was saying it is okay to ff and that I had tried my best but I was in pieces inside. I think it was mild pnd - and went away once I started weaning.

So again, this time round I know that it is okay to ff - I know bf could be easier in some ways this time but may be more difficult with a toddler to contend with as well. I am just worried that either a) I crack up if I can't bf this time round or b) I manage to bf and the guilt over dd comes back

Madigan · 11/03/2009 18:36

Congratulations Honey!!!

jollyjoanne · 11/03/2009 18:54

Sorry not had chance to read the posts, but just thought I'd let you know I've added a couple of photos. Depending on number of visitors, I will try to read the thread and post later.

jollyjoanne · 11/03/2009 18:59

Congrats Honey

kanga5 · 11/03/2009 19:14

beautiful photos of Mae jollyjoanne!

Poor meep, try not to let this BF vs FF get in the way of enjoying your baby and toddler. You haven't failed your children AT ALL if they are FF. What matters is they and you are healthy and happy.

Have you thought that perhaps just BF for a really short while while to give baby the first milk/colustrum then happily switch to FF if it doesn't take off? Perhaps with DD helping she will feel more involved too.

I found with BF that it still takes a couple of weeks for the nips to get used to constant suckling, they are pretty sensitive things after all...ouch.

auntyspan · 11/03/2009 19:31

Wheely - I mix fed DD1 and felt dreadful that I didn't exclusively bf her. I had such a bad time I expressed all her feeds for nearly three months.

This time round I am BF DD2 but not enjoying it and wondering how long I can go on for. It's very difficult with a toddler to contend with and DH goes back to work on Monday so I'm on my own.

It's ironic that I never thought I would get this far, and now I have, I think I want to give up!

meep · 11/03/2009 19:39

awww - baby Mae is a wee cutie!

Congratulations honey! aunty I can totally see that happening to me too. Mothers guilt is so overwhelming and for 99.9% of us all we have absolutely no reason to feel guilty about anything!

Thanks kanga - I know you are right - just try telling my hormonal post-birth brain that! (my nips were bleeding before I even left hospital - and the milk I expressed was pink - lovely - but freaked me out totally.) I have nipple shields on order just in case this time!

Wheelybug · 11/03/2009 21:43

auntyspan - just remember each day is a day you've done it so as much as you can manage is a help. Please don't beat yourself up about it. meep - fingers crossed it all works out for you this time.
I will be reminding myself of what I've written in the next few days/weeks I'm sure when the reality hits.

Lovely photos Joanne. Mae is gorgeous.

Right off to bed - feeling quite nervous about tomorrow now.... but ok. S'pose we'd better think of a name . Will be on asap.

Good luck to everyone else - and hope those who are missing are enjoying their babies !

Boobz · 11/03/2009 22:17

Good luck Wheely xxx
