corgi, ARM is artificial rupture of membranes, done with a crochet hook. It is a method of induction, but when it was done to me it send my contractions into super drive going from 4 to 10 cm in about 15 mins. It was agony but baby came out VERY soon after and all ended well.

I like both names for your baby boy, but Patrick more, it was on my list for a while..

I was awake til 3 am last night with a strong BH that went on forever. Nothing came of it.

meep · 27/03/2009 14:10

Hello everyone - just popping in to announce the arrival of baby Rosie by elective c-section on monday 23rd - 7lbs 12oz and beautiful. Only just got home from hospital today - my wound wasn't healing too well and I was happy to stay in to get bf established.

Will catch up on everyone's news later - congrtaultaions to anyone else who has had a baby while I've been away.

lilymolly · 27/03/2009 14:32

Hi everyone, still here

Congrats to all who have had their babies

Had another sweep today, and am now 4 cm dilated but still nothing and I am now 10 days overdue, so getting induced by ARM on monday morning.

Hopefully it will be a quick affair

Will keep you all posted

grinningbee · 27/03/2009 15:17

Congratulations Meep!

Oh Lilymolly you must be really cheesed off now. I can see me going that way too.

I am thinking labour vibes your way for this weekend.

kanga5 · 27/03/2009 15:40

congrats meep, been wondering how it went on monday. Good to hear the words "BF and established" in one sentence!!! You must feel really institutionalised after all week in hospital, so nice to be home I expect.

lilymolly it sounds a really promising stage for you and you have all weekend to go into labour so really good luck for it kicking off naturally before monday.

grinningbee I think I am in the same boat..

ladylush · 27/03/2009 16:05

Wheely - congrats on your baby girl

grinningbee · 27/03/2009 16:20

Anyone else think Titmouse is suspiciously quiet?

jollyjoanne · 27/03/2009 18:19

Congrats EllieorOllie and Meep on the births of your new little ones.

Yeah it is very strange when people disappear, although titmouse said she may try to put her story on the homebirth page so it may be worth keeping an eye on there.

MKG hasn't been on for ages and she was due on the same day as me, so I can only presume she had her little one.

Also love the tales of the soppy DHs, mine seems to have become acustomed to being a dad very quickly and is already bossing everyone including me around - this is how to hold her head and this is how to wind her etc. It's quite funny really.

Still sending labour vibes to people who need them. Fingers crossed for a few more babies over the weekend.

Wheelybug · 27/03/2009 18:26

Congrats ellie and meep on george and rosie. Can't remember if I said congrats to sunshine and hedgewitch so congrats !!!

Meep - hope you're healing ok now and that the c-sec was a more positive experience than first time. I assume from your post bf-ing is going ok ??

Hi ladylush - thank you ! I assume you are pg ? Are things going ok ? I really hope so !

sympathy to those waiting andfed up.

EllieorOllie · 27/03/2009 21:42

Good evening all who are left...

Hope you are hanging in ok there and are not tooooo fed up.

We got landed on by relatives and friends today, which was lovely, but reminded me why staying for 24 hours in hospital is not perhaps such a bad thing

George is a cuddly, gorgeous, snuffly little thing, but apparently entirely nocturnal. Yawn...

Corgi and possibly Titmouse - would like to add a little more about the back to back labour thing as I've been going on for ages about how bad my first back to back was and how I was doing everything to avoid it again. Well I failed miserably as George turned back to back while I was in very active pre-labout, just like DD. I developed proper back labour and it was painful. I had an epidural in the end but I second whoever it was that said that having your birth partner dig their fingers into your lower back during contractions really helps. Also, George decided to turn the right way round again before I got to the pushing, so he didn't get stuck like DD. When they told me he was posterior I was convinced it was going to end in an episiotomy and a ventouse/forceps delivery, but actually the pushing part was quite easy. So just give up on the leaning and positioning and hope for the best. And take a good massage tool for your lower back!!!!

Good luck to all, and lots of laboury vibes your way

EllieorOllie · 27/03/2009 21:46

And congrats Meep on the birth of Rosie - onee of my favourite names

twocutedarlings · 28/03/2009 08:25

Meep congrats on the birth of Rosie what i fantastic name!! (tis DD1s name btw ), so hope feeding is going ok for you.

lily have you tried using a breast pump? (sorry for repeating myself, i just know that i quite often miss lots of posts ).

lilymolly · 28/03/2009 08:32

no still hanging on

Have been squeezing and tweaking nips and still nothing!

I think I am going to have to wait until induction on monday

grinningbee · 28/03/2009 08:35

Morning all, I'm still here.

I should call myself grumpybee today. DH and I were supposed to have some "snugglytime" this morning before he went off for the day to help someone move house. He went back to sleep!!

I had a weird night last night. Felt very restless and pootled around for a bit, did go to sleep eventually only to have odd dreams all night, in between waking up lots anyway.

Hey ho.

Hope everyone else is ok today.

Boobz · 28/03/2009 09:00

Hey Lilymoly and grinning -- am still here and feeling for you both! I would be reet fed up by now...

Get the breast pump out!

Not much more to report here. We're all cuddled up on the bed, with me MNing and DH watching the rugby on Skyplayer; dog at the foot of the bed snoring away and Penelope nestled between us on a breast feeding pillow catching some Zzzzz. Very The Waltons.

GO LILY AND GRINNING!

rubyring · 28/03/2009 09:04

still here too! got the mother of all back pain shivering a lot, woke up every hour..spoke to mw she said all sounds promising but i wont hold my breath, thought it was all happening last sat and nothing did! do feel like crap tho! xx sw

corgikelly · 28/03/2009 09:32

All present and accounted for on the Saturday roll call...

If it weren't for the fact I'm booked for an induction Thursday, I would have no trouble believing I'm going to be pregnant for the rest of my life. No twinges, nothing!

So lily has her induction Monday, me Thursday and grinning on the 7th? What about you, ruby? Still waiting it out?

kanga, thanks for the ARM definition. Don't think that's part of the induction process here -- my OB was just talking about going straight to the oxytocin drip.

ellie, v interesting to get your up-to-the-minute take on back labour. Massage tool is now in labour bag, and thank god DP is a guitarist and has incredibly strong hands!

boobz, the scenario en famille sounds lovely.

Off to get some croissants and fresh juice, and then going to maternity ward for today's monitoring session. Happy Saturday!

rubyring · 28/03/2009 11:11

having some more irregular contrx....induction booked for fri, sweep on tue, just want to curl up in ball in a dark room, feeling a bit cave womany! still feel like am going to be preggers forever too though, corgi...maybe am just trying to will the whole thing on this wkend as hubby is around....oh the endless wait! x

ladylush · 28/03/2009 13:37

Wheely - Yes I'm 15+3 and counting each day

twocutedarlings · 28/03/2009 14:35

Sounds promising Ruby , how are things now?, btw if you feel the need to curl up in a dark room, then you do so!!

corgi AIBU to be at your croissants and juice??................. swap ya for 2 shitty nappies lol !! hope the monitoring went well xx.

BumblBeee · 28/03/2009 18:37

Hi Everyone,

I gave birth to Anna March 17th at 38.5 weeks. 7 lbs 12 oz.

With all my worry about having a VBAC and a peaceful birth the baby nearly came out on the high street!

I had contractions at about 4:45 which became a minute apart 20 minutes later.

The hospital made my husband call an ambulance and she was crowning by the time they arrived but she got stuck so they brought me to hospital where she was delivered by forceps.

The whole thing took about 2 hours and was quite shocking...

Hope everyone is well.

xxx

rubyring · 28/03/2009 19:10

blimey bumblebee that's a dramatic birth! congratulations! still here...i hid in nice dark bedrm all afternoon while hubby took kids out, was having 15min contrax now not so sure, got heating up full blast, feeling bit more chipper, gonna try moving about more ...

corgikelly · 28/03/2009 19:15

Holy cow, Bumblbeee -- what a story! There's something spooky about the number of speedy births in this antenatal group (sorry, boobz!) Congratulations and welcome Anna!

twocute, I bet I'll haveenough nappies of my own not to need to trade for them in the very near future...

Monitoring went well but took ages as they were being very conscientous -- Cletus was moving so much they kept losing his heartbeat, so the midwives kept adding time to the monitoring session until I said the heck with it and just started moving the sensor around myself to keep up with him!

They advised plenty of walking, stairclimbing and sex before Thursday. Don't know if I can face the sex, but I've had several massive cups of raspberry leaf tea and we've ordered curry takeaway for dinner (wonder if it counts that it's Thai and not Indian? In any event, the duck curry comes with pineapple...)

ruby, how are you doing? Still cave-womaning?

wheresmybump · 28/03/2009 19:22

hey all i'm still here too just about ready to pop! well its my 25th birthday on monday so whats the betting i'll be spending it in labour. i've just been to fetch the raspberry leaf tea as im now desperate so i'll see how that goes!!!

SpookyMadMummy · 28/03/2009 19:24

I am 5 days overdue now and utterly fed up. I am so uncomfortable and tired constantly.
Back to the midwife on Monday for a sweep. Lets hope it gets things going.
