i am still here too! 40 + 4 today (can't sleep!) booked in for sweep next tues, induction next fri ... feel really anxious about being induced, can't sleep cos of it...still got some time i know, just fed up with having cramps, a few contrx, then nothing. Thought this being my third would have popped out a couple of wks ago, grrrr. So support from me to the other ladies in waiting! I keep forgetting all yr names after i've read posts (duh pregnant brain) but i am acknowledging us all! And again big congrats (and envy!!!) to all you who've had your babes! xxx

Ally90 · 26/03/2009 08:41

Anyone else overdue? Just seen Lillymolly, I'm 6 days over...was 9 days over with first and was induced...feel like it will never happen and if one more bugger at playgroup says to me 'you still here!! ha ha!' I may just snap...or just growl in a threatening way...

Congrats to everyone who has had their babies!

Feeling mightily fed up at the moment...

Ally90 · 26/03/2009 08:45

ooh your overdue too Rubyring...scan reading...If I wake up in night (frequently) I tend to start period pains...the other night it was with bh's spent 4 hours thinking 'this is it!!' only for them to tail off and leaving me knackered...trying to chill out about it all...and relax...

I've been offered stretch and sweep and induction and refused both. You don't have to say yes. Got a bit bullied first time round and this time I've just stood my ground...had consultant trying to change my mind for 40 minutes on monday...but I'm doing things my way this time...

Sunshinesmith · 26/03/2009 08:54

Hah, finally... back on Mumsnet....

What a couple of weeks!

Finally our little muffin { we have agreed he needs a bigger name- Jan does not suit him] made his arrival last Monday.

The predictions were right and now I am the proud mama of a little man. So overjoyed.

I had a very straight forward vb and the only pain relief I had was Gas and Air. From first contraction till delivery 12 hours. I just couldn't believe how quick little muffin made his big entrance to the world.

The hospital staff were fantastic and after one night in hospital we decamped at home. I think i have cracked on the business of breastfeeding- fingers crossed- so all in all I had an amazing experience.

Little muffin just sucks and sleep - he only cries when we change his nappy, clothes etc...

Boobz- i have read your thread... a very brave girl! x

EDD 9 march- born 16 march

Congratulations to all the new mums and to the ones still waiting a big hug....and enjoy your sleeping while you can!

xx

lilymolly · 26/03/2009 09:01

hi still here now 41 plus 2

thanks for all your support tis much appreciated by the big emotional lady

I went 12 days over with dd and was induced and booked in on monday for induction, but not sure wether to go for the waters to break or oxytocin drip?
last time I had drip, it made my very violently sick, and when I had my waters broke I could not cope with the pain so had an epidural, so was wanting to avoid one this time around although it would not be the end of the world.

Having another sweep tommorrow, so maybe that will work

Good luck ladies hang in there and YES the comments are f*ing well annoying arent they....

Any advice greatly appreciated.

xJulesx · 26/03/2009 10:50

Hi Ladies
I have not been on here for ages but have been lurking!!

Congratulations to those who have had their babies, and good luck to those still waiting.
I am 39+4 and nothing seems to be happening yet!!

I have to have a scan later to see what position the baby is in, my midwife thinks oblique or breech.

Good luck ladies
xxx

corgikelly · 26/03/2009 11:10

Had my 40+2 appt and monitoring today -- the monitoring was uneventful (strong heartbeat and lots of movement for Cletus, normal BP for me and only one contraction, which I didn't even feel.

Then during the appt, my OB did a sweep before telling me what she was doing, which kind of pissed me off, quite frankly. But this was after we'd booked an induction for next Thursday, when I'll be 10 days past due -- hospital policy is to not let things go past 10 days. She said with any luck the sweep might get things moving and we wouldn't need to induce. Fine with me, as I've heard horror stories about contractions (and pain!) ramping up too quickly.

It is really, REALLY hard to believe that at the latest, we'll be meeting Cletus a week from today. Eeeek. Must really decide on his proper name!

jollyjoanne · 26/03/2009 11:27

Congrats again Hedgewitch and to Sunshine!

Still sending positive labour vibes to those needing them.

Corgi there is indeed a post-natal thread, this should link to it, here.

twocutedarlings · 26/03/2009 12:25

Lots of (((hugs))) for all of you that are overdue!!!

Like i said to boobz get the breast pumps out!! 15mins each breast, it kicks off some sort of hormone and it wont effect you milk coming in, if anything it will help bring it in sooner .

boobz thankyou for asking after Alex, he is actually full of cold , but he is still feeding well (although he slips of alot due to his poor snotty nose) HV came out yesterday and he has gained 15oz in 10 days . I dont as of yet have any piccys on my profile of Alex, i just dont seem to get the time, but i will make sure i add some in the next couple of days .

kanga5 · 26/03/2009 12:55

hello 40+3 today, ho hum, another coffee morning to keep DD occupied.

Do I really have to feed the kids dinner AGAIN tonight???

I will be induced next Friday if nothing works, don't like induction - too painfull.

This is like being given a present then told you can't open it yet...

everyone try dilation visualisation - maybe a group effort will help.

kanga5 · 26/03/2009 13:01

congrats sunshine on your baby boy. lovely it was such a positive experience for you.

livismum · 26/03/2009 15:13

Hey guys just checking in on you all

Huge congrats to the other new mummies

Huge come on baby vibes to everyone still waiting

Having DD1 3 weeks early and having to wait till due date for this one was bad enough, i had an easy time of it so not sure if all the RLT, pineapple, walking and bouncing on ball helped! But the few weeks of fairly painfull twinges were obviously doing something usefull.

Have uploaded some pics of Eleanor i'm v much in love so rather biased on her total yummieness

kanga5 · 26/03/2009 18:29

livismum she is so lovely, I want mine out now!!!

kanga5 · 26/03/2009 18:48

lilymolly how are you today?

good luck for the sweep tomorrow. I had sweep with DC4 then asked DH to do his duty, baby born two days later, even though I was booked for the induction that day too. (12 days over)

hard to know what brought it on really, as she could have been on her way anyway. Worth trying though.

I had ARM with DC2 and it was really quick, 3 to 10 cm in about 15 mins. I didn't think I could cope with the pain, but he was born so quick he was blue and had to have help. he is fine now don't mean to scare you.

Never had the drip so can't advise there.

best wishes everything will be fine

Ally90 · 26/03/2009 20:45

Do you think lateness of babies is due to stress? I'm currently being monitored every other day for signs of pre eclampsia and my consultant is wanting to see me again on Tuesday. Homebirth is out of window just as soon as I found out they have only ONE ambulance on at night in our area, and its a BIG area to cover...worries me at any time, may even email MP!! Let alone giving birth with that kind of back up. I'm so uptight right now I don't think I will ever go into labour naturally!

I've refused all stretch and sweeps...did that last time, a) didn't work b) did not like it being done. My consultant has booked me in for an induction (even tho I told him I would discuss it again at 14 days overdue) for 3rd April exactly 14 days overdue! Cheeky sod, however I graciously let the midwife leave it as it is (just in case I am desparate at 14 days overdue...highly likely!). My BP is too the point of borderline, trace of protein in urine, and swellings on my ankles have now made them cankles...humph. Got monitoring at local hospital on saturday, appt with Consultant (if I accept it that is) on Tuesday...god I feel so relaxed...

And playgroup tomorrow...taken to going early and picking up dd late to avoid the stares and sniggers and comments about bumpy roads...hope when my waters go it splatters that particular lady...

Agree for the mass visulisation of cervix dialating.

Going to bounce madly on fit ball now.

Congrats to those with new babies again and contraction vibes to all who need em.

EllieorOllie · 26/03/2009 21:56

Hi all, thanks for your messages of support. Baby EllieorOllie born at 6.45 this morning 26th March after a fairly uneventful 'accelerated' 9 hour labour. His name is George Brewster Anstead and he weighed 7lb 12oz. Feeding, sleeping and pooing like a trooper. We were home by midday which was awesome, and are now getting into the swing of things.

Ladies who are being induced, ARM would be my reccomendation. It didn't seem to be working, so they put me on an epidural in preparation for the drip but I suddenly developed really strong regular contractions and went from 3cm to 9cm in 3 hours, so no need for the drip after all. Epidural was a really good decision and I was still able to feel everything to push him out myself in 50 minutes. Although the birth was 'medically managed' i really enjoyed the experience and it worked beautifully for me and George.

Good luck to all still waiting. I shall try and pop back as much as I can!!

kanga5 · 26/03/2009 22:40

congrats ellie, did you stay in overnight after your 6pm visit then?

welcome to baby George. It is nice that you had such a good experience at the hospital. Sometimes poor MWs get such bad press and babies never help them by arriving when they should!

kanga5 · 26/03/2009 22:44

ally I am sorry to hear you feel so stressed about this. My MW suggested babies are later when your cycle is longer tahn 28 days, and one friend reckons mine is late because I am way too calm and relaxed!!!

It is not the worst thing to be induced as the end result is a lovely healthy baby for you to cuddle very soon.

fingers crossed for you

grinningbee · 27/03/2009 08:04

Morning all!

Congratulations Ellie!

Due date came and went. Got a bit interesting though! Went for my 40 wk mw check up, and my stupid bp was up and after checking it 4 times wouldn't behave, so I got parcelled straight off to hospital for monitoring. Oh the joy!

I was there for just over three hours, and spent two of those hooked up to machines because nipper decided to be super active, and her heart rate was too high. My bp on the other hand was fine...

So, all is fine again and I'm having increased BH - they were every 10 mins while I was on the machine. I must admit, I stupidly got excited.

Now I'm back to waiting around again with a stretch and sweep booked for next Friday (mw seemed quite insistent), and apparently I'm to be induced on April 7th if nothing has changed by then. We shall see what nipper decides to do.

Back to cake eating for me!! Well, I am starting with porridge this morning - cake is later

Hope you're all ok this morning.

P.S Bump is now measuring 44 weeks My lady bits are trembling in fear!!!!

grinningbee · 27/03/2009 08:08

I forgot - must add this bit...

We popped to the pub on the way home from all the shenanigans (strictly non-alcoholic for me!) and ran into a friend of ours who is a farmer.

He asked me when I was going to be calving!!! Such a lovely term don't you think

Ally90 · 27/03/2009 08:23

Congrats Ellie and welcome George!

Thanks Kanga, interesting that your calm and relaxed so baby staying put , want to swap some endorphins for adrenaline? Then we both might go!

Induced last time...don't remember it being much fun...a natural birth feels very important to me again this time...just want to know what a normal labour is like.

My cycle was 28 to 38 days when I conceived, however all my scans (3 in first half of pg) match my due date so feel that the due date should be about right...?

Found out yesterday for anyone not in the know...well I wasn't...top number on BP is the one affected by stress and the bottom one is to be no more than 20 higher than what you booked in with, mine is currently 25 above what it should be. And the top one fluctuates wildly when I go to hospital or see consultant

Hi Grinningbee, 44 weeks! My dd was 8lb 8oz...but she was a long baby so measuring 44 weeks may just mean you have a long baby in there? Monitoring sucks...esp when your body and baby won't behave! My bp up and down like a yo yo at the moment...its quite unsettling.

Off now to face barrage of comments at playgroup...obcessed with avoiding them all now...imagine a whole entire week overdue...sure that's not been done before in history...

corgikelly · 27/03/2009 09:29

Congratulations, ellie! George is a lovely, dignified name.

grinningbee, I'd be trembling too -- bump measuring is something they just don't do here, so I've got no idea how big Cletus is.

Loved the calving comment, btw.

Following up on something ellie mentioned -- what, exactly, is ARM?

No signs that yesterday's sweep did any good at all, unless you count an exacerbation of the piles situation and my first EVER encounter with nighttime heartburn -- that's TERRIBLE. So I guess today will be more crawling about (the piles having pretty effectively eliminated any ball-bouncing plans!).

Happy day to all...

Boobz · 27/03/2009 09:31

Morning all! Still present and correct? Ah, I see at least one of you has caught up and had a baby - congratulations *EllieorOllie" on the arrival of George - what a truly fabulous name! He's bound to grow up big and strong with a name like that.

Good luck for your sweep today Lilymolly. I had a sweep when I was already having mild contractions and was 1cm dilated, just to try and speed things up, and it did get the contractions working a bit harder for me, so hopefully it will tip you over the edge.

Rubyring and Ally90 - I'm sorry you are so overdue and fed up - it must be so annoying by now. I was doing everything I could think of to try and avoid that situation (no idea if any of it worked, but I would really recommend 2cute's expressing trick as I think that did play a part for me.

Corgi - how are you today? Do you know if Cletus is a boy or a girl? What names do you have for either?

Grinning - 44 weeks! Eeek! I was measuring 42 when Penelope came out and she was a very normal 7lb 8oz and 49cm. So try not to worry!

Eleanor is just stunning livismum - totally gorgeous. And so is your other LO!

So what happened to titmouse? Anyone seen her or has she popped off to have her baby at home? Will go and check HB thread after this to see if she has posted there...

Penelope is going great guns and has just had a feed. She's been feeding in a 3 hour cycle, but bless her she let me lie in a little this morning by going 5 hours between her 2am and 7am feed so I am feeling mighty fresh! Which is good as we have the in-laws here today to meet their first grandchild - will be very emotional for all concerned I think.

Finally, just to share a funny DH moment, we were in John Lewis yesterday, buying bras as none of mine fit properly, and we stopped by the baby dept to buy a baby monitor. I passed the newborn clothes section and saw this darling pretty dress (very 1930's inspired - chique girly type dress) and picked it up and said to DH "what about getting her this for the Wetting the Baby's Head party at the pub on Sunday?" and I think DH suddenly realised that Penelope really is a full on girl (we were both convinced she was going to be a boy) - and she's only been wearing white babygros since we've had her... and so it finally occured to him that he would be dressing our beautiful baby in girly girl clothes... he started to tear up again, bless him.

Anyway, wanted to share that (maybe should have gone to post natal thread?)... sorry if it's all a bit soppy.

Can't wait to hear about all your LO's birth stories and soppy moments - HURRY UP and have your babies dammit!

xxx

grinningbee · 27/03/2009 10:22

Boobz it is not soppy! And of course you should post here.

Bless your dh for tearing up. Mine is the same (shhhh, don't tell though - as a former bouncer, black belt, 6ft 1 strapping chappy he'd be mortified) We only have to walk through the baby section in the supermarket, or even just him feeling her move sets him off.

You should have seen him yesterday in the hospital as we got to hear her hb for two hours on the monitor... bless!

corgikelly · 27/03/2009 11:20

hey boobz - I agree with grinningbee. I love hearing from those who have gone beyond for the very simple reason that it's reassuring and inspiring for a first-timer like me to hear that life does go on, and kinks get ironed out, and all is well!

Doing okay today with the exception of these blasted piles . Sorry for TMI, but as they get larger and larger I'm envisioning all sorts of nightmare birth/tearing/episiotomy scenarios!

Cletus is a boy, and we are hesitating between Rhys and Patrick. Patrick as a first name would be "safer" but DP and I really do like Rhys. We've not got any Welsh blood in us (in terms of ancestry, I'm Irish/Cornish and DP is English), though and I can guarantee that all of our family members (all Americans) will assume that it's spelled "Reese." And that we named him after a peanut butter cup. Which will drive me up a wall.

On the other hand, having owned a Welsh corgi for 10 years, does that give me any claim to the name?

Any opinions welcome!
