Yuck!

I was going to have marmite on toast for lunch in a bit... [sick emoticon]

Boobz · 25/03/2009 14:44

Hey everyone.... which looks like it's just Corgi, Titmouse, Mamasmurf and Grinning still here! It must be a bit rubbish to be at the end of an ante natal thread as you've seen everyone pop off and have babies and then have no time to support you through the last bits! Well I'm still here ladies! I'm not leaving until you all have darling LOs in your arms!

titmouse - I completely agree with you abou the wanting the pain to come thing... I was doing everything I was thinking of to try and get the ctx to be more regular and intense so we could get the show running properly... expressing, bouncing, orgasms, stairs, food etc. And then of course when THAT pain did come (the 5cm dilated plus pain) all I wanted to do was STOP them! Or have a baby, which in the end was what I did, so that was ok then.

Pen is asleep and seems to be a very content little girl so far. Can't quite believe she's all mine. She's breast feeding really well (and I have got friends who have had lots of problems so had been preparing myself for the worst, but there seems to be no problems at all so far... touch wood...) and she's pretty much set her own 3 hourly schedule of eating, sleeping, nappy wetting and gurgling.

DH continues to be a rock - he's off to homebase this afternoon to buy a lamp as I insist the one in the nursery where we change her at night is too brigh for her little eyes! Bless him.

How is Alex doing 2cute? Are there photos of him on your profile?

Anyway, here's hoping it all kicks off for you soon girls and that you get your lovely HB titmouse as you are now overdue, no~?

EllieorOllie · 25/03/2009 14:48

Hello lovely ladies

Amazingly I am still here, and still pregnant!! Have been in early labour for over 36 hours now. And have had soooooo much show. I think they should be called 'mucous slugs', rather than plugs, as that's what mine resemble. 3 slugs actually. How's that for TMI??!!

Anyway, it's been all fun and games here this morning. Called the midwife out for a check as I was getting a little narked by the lack of progress and although I was doing ok dilation wise (then 2, now 3 cm), the baby's heartrate was all over the place and dipped majorly at the end of one particular contraction. So I got sent the DAU for monitoring and they have suggested that it might be wise to get things moving a little quicker. Have been released back into the community for the afternoon just in case baby's dawdling a bit, but am going back in at 6ish this evening to have my waters broken etc. It's very wierd to know that there's an end in sight. Last time I just contracted pathetically for days and days and days...

I have to admit to being dead scared of the pain to come though!! Perhaps I should have thought of that before getting up the duff...

titmouse · 25/03/2009 14:52

ahh thanks boobz and twocute and all the other mums who haven't deserted us

I was looking at the list and there are quite a few people who haven't checked in for a while and would probably have given birth - hoping they are all ok and with their little ones now.

I'm due tomorrow boobz, so not overdue yet, I just had another interesting pain - or, a shadow of a pain as I think of them as I guess as it didn't really hurt - I will be so surprised if this baby comes out on due date! Has that happened to many people around here?

how did the expressing thing work out, were you expressing colostrum during your latent stage?

Boobz · 25/03/2009 15:04

I had "shadows of pains" for about the first 12 hours, and then after that they were real ouchy type pains which I could cope with tens and breathing, and then from about 30 hours in, they were agony - but I don't want to scare you and don't want you to think it will go the same way for you! The gas and air took the edge off the worst ctx for the last 8 hours of established labour and so in the end, it was do-able - but only just!

The expressing worked I think, and even though I am a sceptic, I think some of the homepathic remedies DH was administering did the trick as well... Things certainly ramped up after those 2 tricks which fellow MNers suggested (in fact I think it was 2cute who got me expressing). Had LOADS of collostrum and was suddenly worried I was using it all up before the baby was born! But Girlwiththemouseyhair assured me I would make more! And I did, so that's all good.

Pen just waking up for a feed but will be checking back on you later. Are you going to post you labour updates here or on the HB thread?! Or maybe just get on with having the baby and not bother with the whole MN live labour thing?!

mamasmurf · 25/03/2009 15:10

Off to hospital to get checked out. Here is hoping for the VBAC.

Good luck ellieorollie and to all you cake eaters.

titmouse · 25/03/2009 15:24

good luck mamasurf sending you calm and positive labour vibes. I hope you get vbac.

boobz your -and of cours Mr Boobz's - updates were commendable and fabulous, I hope to be able to update but I will see how it goes- will probably be on HB thread but I'll let my fellow cake-eaters know what's going on here on this one when it starts. If I don't manage it I will certainly write a full report after.
I am so impressed with the detailed birth reports about what happened at what time etc, I am going to need to make notes as its happening!!

I was curious about the expressing thing as I have been squeezing my nipples a bit, just out of curiosity, and it made me have a shadow of a pain. Nothing much is coming out of them though.

kanga5 · 25/03/2009 16:38

I am still here, I tried to post this morning but it didn't work so I guess i have missed all the cake!!!

Wheelybug · 25/03/2009 17:12

good luck mamasmurf and ellie

wishing pain on all those still waiting !

lilymolly · 25/03/2009 17:40

Me still here too 40 +8........although I dont really seem to have any acknowledgement on this thread.....or am I feeling sorry for myself ??

Had sweep yesterday and 3cm dilated and ready to rock and roll, just need some contractions to get things kick started.

Loads of pains yesterday and gallons of yacky stuff came out, but nothing today

Having another sweep on friday..then induction Monday if not had babes by then.....so at least it will be here by Tuesday

kanga5 · 25/03/2009 18:31

my posts still aren't working or are they?

I'm late now too lilymolly...

kanga5 · 25/03/2009 18:32

maybe if I do one line at a time...

kanga5 · 25/03/2009 18:33

am booked for sweep next wed, hope it is here before then as it is the wriggliest baby ever...

kanga5 · 25/03/2009 18:35

I must have been rambling too much before...

No signs of ANY action here at all...

corgi I would go to another country for G&A, I couldn't do without it.

kanga5 · 25/03/2009 18:36

good luck mamasurf

see it prefers short posts

jollyjoanne · 25/03/2009 18:38

Kanga I've been having problems posting too, not sure what is going on.

I'm also still here, (on the thread that is - not pregnant) Mae is now 16 days old, and we have become so skilled at breastfeeding I'm typing this whilst feeding!

Good luck EllieorOllie hope things are progressing well.

And good luck to Mamasmurf fingers crossed for your vbac.

Lilymolly I hope things get going soon, although good on you for getting to 3cms already - I suppose that is 3 less when the ctx start properly.

Fingers crossed that those still waiting don't have to wait much longer and that the cake eating helps! LOL

However, I'm wishing I hadn't done quite so much cake eating during pregnancy very jealous of those getting back into shape so quickly. I've put on a stone and a half at least and was overweight before being pregnant so not impressed. Particularly as my colleague from work had a baby a month before me and she is stick thin and flat stomached already!

kanga5 · 25/03/2009 18:39

grinningbee I did try to keep company with you this morning but I just couldn't get it to work then.

(better stop now or you will think I really am crazy pregnant lady)

lollipopz · 25/03/2009 18:49

I'm still here too! Still losing show and having irregular ouchy contractions but this has been since yesterday morning so not getting my hopes up , good luck Ellie and anyone else about to labour

evening ladies,

lilymolly I didn't know they would do more than one sweep, really hope you get some good contractions soon! I couldn't see you on the list, did you not get added? What was your due date?

corgikelly · 25/03/2009 20:50

Hello fellow ladies-in-waiting -- the few, the proud, the hopelessly late!

Just back from seeing Duplicity (Clive Owen = eye candy), and have actually had a few contractions. No rhyme or reason to 'em, though, so I'm about to hop in the bath and see if they calm down.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, boobz, fearless and joanne -- kind of like the marathon finishers who are cheering the slowpokes on while sipping champers on the other side of the line!

lollipopz, ellie, kanga, lily, grinningbee, mamasmurf, titmouse -- who's next??

titmouse · 25/03/2009 20:58

I don't want anything to happen til I've watched The Apprentice

jollyjoanne · 25/03/2009 21:19

You've jinxed yourself now titmouse that's your waters breaking about 10mins from the end of the Aprentice so you miss finding out who's fired!

corgikelly · 25/03/2009 21:31

Picking up on something said earlier - are there in fact post-natal threads organised by month, like this antenatal one? Or do people just tend to shift over to the general parenting board?
