boobz what a great pic, but be ready to run if DH finds you put it on MN!!!

congrats to fearless, look forward to the story and please don't keep us in suspense too long...

agree the lovely weather is helping make the end of pregnancy more agreeable...much nicer to have spring baby than autumn baby I think.

over halfway through March and lots of babies still expected from that very long list, come on everyone it is nice outside!!!

MKG not posted for about 10 days now I think, really hope all ok

kanga5 · 17/03/2009 09:50

first due, hang in there baby will come soon. Have you been offered a sweep yet?

lizziemun · 17/03/2009 09:51

Oh well 41weeks today, went to day assessment yesterday as baby movement has/had slowed down.

I also had the midwife do a sweep, i am 3cm dilated and head well down so should be anytime as they have been saying for the last 3 weeks. Hopefully i have it before i see the consultant on thursday afternoon.

If for no other reason then i fed up with people asking if anything changed. Like i'm not going to tell anyone as i would need to ring DH so he can come home from work and mum as i need her to look after my other two dd's so i can go to the hospital .

titmouse · 17/03/2009 10:07

congratualtions fearless brilliant news!

Does anybody think anything of the old wives tale that a boys heartbeat sounds like a chugging train and a girls like a galloping horse?

grinningbee · 17/03/2009 10:10

Congrats to all the new mummies!

Boobz That photo is hilarious!!

I survived being out all Sunday, although I was a little grumpy at MIL. She started by asking when the baby is coming, will it be early to which I said "I have no idea, I've never done this before". She said she's got everyone asking her and wants to know...

She then said I couldn't have it that day as she was hungry and wanted her dinner! I told DH I was going to wait until dinner was on the table and then try and squeeze nipper out (didn't work though, lol).

Nipper didn't even make a bid for freedom during the pub quiz that night despite the excitement (to which I took a pillow to sit on which was bliss... oh, and we won!). We ended up there until closing while DH got merrily merry and I watched. He did get told off cos I thought 9 pints was a bit much! The prize for winning the quiz? 8 pints so nowt for me!!

Anyway. Not a lot happening here still, nipper kicking like a good un and especially while watching the Matrix last night. I reckon she'll either be a footballer or martial artist at this rate I actually managed to catch hold of her heel the other night which was sooooo weird.

grinningbee · 17/03/2009 10:12

Girls are supposed to be quicker - everytime I've had the mw check the heartrate is somewhere around or just over 150 and sounds like a horse galloping.

lizziemun · 17/03/2009 10:13

titmouse

HERE.

I can only say all the 'supposed' signs of carrying a boy i have had in all pregnancies and have had 2 girls, so i not expecting this time to be any different.

titmouse · 17/03/2009 10:19

thanks - lizzie according to these lists I am carrying a hermaphrodite!!

kanga5 · 17/03/2009 10:19

titmouse I have heard that girls heartbeats are faster than boys, but I don't know what to believe. I have been going crazy checking all the web sites with old wives tales quizzes, and when the result is 50% chance of a boy I think yeah great those are the odds anyway!!!

My cravings had been for sweeter things for last dd than the 3 ds. I crave lots of chocolate now too, but that might be a need for instant energy boost.

have you tried wedding ring over bump test?

titmouse · 17/03/2009 10:35

its funny I only craved savoury for months then just lately it's sweet stuff, haven't done the wedding ring test I'll give it a go...

Wheelybug · 17/03/2009 12:02

OMG Boobz - don't do that to someone with a recent c-sec wound.... it hurts to laugh . Fantastic photo though !!

Meep - demand the anaesthetist puts the cannula in. A friend told me this and I wimped out of saying no to the MW (to be fair she was only doing it because I had to have some IV antibiotics beause of waters going so she was trying to speed things up) but the anaesthetist was a pro (as you'd expect him to be !).

Happy due date lilymolly - hope LO takes the hint.

On the heart beat thing - Lara's heartbeat was consistently v. low as was her big sister's (although L's lower than DD1s). A MW told me the heartbeat meant she was a boy (she said if you follow the rules) but then given I carried her as if she was a boy, the ring test said she was a boy, my cravings said she was a boy - I am quite amazed she was a girl . The chinese astrological calendar was the only thing that said she was a girl (and dd1's best boy - friend who was sure she was a girl !).

No news here really - a bit frustrated by not being able to do too much. Managed a little walk (and I mean little) but am impatient to be out an about.

Note to self: don't eat curry with breastfed baby. L was up for 3 hours in the night with a sore tummy I think - parping away and crying !! Oops.

Wheelybug · 17/03/2009 12:16

Completely missed saying huuggee congrats Fearless on the birth of Patrick.

Great name - wanted it if dd2 had been a boy.

Laurenypops · 17/03/2009 12:44

Hello all! Big congratulations to those with their babies - lucky you! I'm 40+10 today, but am feeling regularish painfulish contractions, and think today could be the day - fingers crossed! If not, I am going to be highly irritated (DH dons hard hat in preparation)! Right going to wander around the house, and do some last minute cleaning, there must be something I've missed somewhere! Good luck to everyone else, although no queue jumping please!x

titmouse · 17/03/2009 12:47

good luck lauren and fingers crossed it really is the day! Hope nobody beats you to being the next one!!

Boobz · 17/03/2009 14:55

Good luck Lauren! Here's hoping it really is your big day.

Am manically cleaning house myself actually. Have already been to pre-natal yoga, Sainsbury's, washed car and am now scrubbing kitchen and the rest of the house (all the sheets I own are strewn around the house Chinese laundry stylee). I did all this 2 weeks ago but no baby came along, so now I have to do it again as the cat and dog hair and DH mess just gets EVERYWHERE. Still have to finish cleaning, walk dog, cook chilli for dinner tonight and go to cinema to watch The Watchmen with DH tonight. Have never been so active in my life! I thought all this was supposed to hurry the babe along?!

Glad photo of Edward made you all laugh

Good luck again Lauren!

Yarnie · 17/03/2009 15:21

Oooo. My waters went about three quarters of an hour ago in a gift shop (I was buying a mothers day present!). I sidled out of the shop clutching a strategically placed gift bag(!) DC1 is due on Friday so, all being well, he should be here before then. No sign of any contractions yet, but we're under instructions to head into the birth centre for 5pm to see what's happening.

I just wanted to say good luck to Fruity who is having her c-sec tomorrow, and Lauren, I hope today is the day

Wheelybug · 17/03/2009 15:24

Ooh Yarnie - that was me last tuesday (my due date was the friday too !). Good luck !! Hope you're contracting hard and fast very soon.

Good luck too Laureny !

Wheelybug · 17/03/2009 15:24

And lots of luck too to Fruity - my fellow failed VBAC-er (). Can't wait to hear the news of DS2 !

FruitynNutty · 17/03/2009 15:26

Aw thanks so much Yarnie and Wow, good luck to you too, maybe we'll have our babies on the same day if you don't pop today!

I'm booked in nice an early - 7:45am - 1st on the list!

MKG · 17/03/2009 15:31

mkg's story

hi all. I had no internet last week so I need to get caught up, but dd was born on Saturday March 14th, and my store is linked above.

laweaselmys · 17/03/2009 15:40

Yay for MKG!! Sounds a bit panicky but otherwise fabulous. Congratulations on your baby girl.

Good luck laureny! Boobz I am doing exactly the same (think we are both due on thursday as well) The whole house was more or less perfect and ready to go and now I am back cleaning the oven again because it was so clean before I can now tell it has been used. - I saw watchmen last week - a bit odd but generally enjoyable, had to get up and wander round half way through though 'cos I was uncomfortable
