I'm still here at 40+5! Seen midwife today and she's made my appointment for scan and sweep next Wed - do not want make that! Not feeling that things are even close, no twinges and even BH seemed to have died off.

Really feel for you Madigan with pelvic problem. I have two friends who both suffered with it, and I know they found it very uncomfortable. I think they both had physio treatment, which can include some surportive strapping. Hope things improve soon.

Good luck to anyone having more success than me at this birth business!

laumiere · 12/03/2009 21:01

Good news on the new arrivals!

I am severely fed up now, bent my coccyx during labour and sitting down STILL hurts!

Also, DH's vasectomy appointment has been set for my birthday!

Good luck to all the waiting mums....

Sunshinesmith · 12/03/2009 21:35

Hi girls,

nothing happening here...

scan confirmed on tuesday that all baby is still engaged..phew.

Last night I had a bizarre dream that it was a boy - so vivid it freaked me out then this morning a retired nurse working in the chemist told me today that she thinks it is also a boy.

Goshy gosh!

Well girls, I just want to throw a bucket loads of well wishes for all of us and that we have very good last days waiting for our bambino/as.

S xx

Boobz · 13/03/2009 08:18

Morning all. What news?

Today will mostly consist of watching Battlestar Galactica on Sky Plus, walking the dog, bouncing on ball, meeting friend for lunch and sitting on my arse waiting to Baby to turn up. DH has gone to Birmingham for the day so hopefully this will spur Baby on to turn up at an inopportune moment.

Any more arrivals? Am 39+1 today so still can't really complain (but I do, often).

firstduemarch09 · 13/03/2009 08:43

Hey Boobz that sounds like a good day. I'm now 40+2 and have the most plans since my due date - I'm being taken to the supermarket as we are out of food! Hooray to get out (after 2 days in solidly waiting)! But what a glamorous life I lead?

Congrats to all the new Mums - are there anymore?

grinningbee · 13/03/2009 08:46

Morning all!

Nowt happening here. Just feeling twingey and have (tmi!) fanny ache... lol.

Had my 38 week mw appointment yesterday, and found out that baby is 3/5ths engaged. Yay! She was still floating about at the last one three weeks ago. Mind you, I thought something was going on from the increased ouchiness.

On the odd dreams front, I dreamt the other night that I gave birth to a toddler . Mind you, DH cheerfully informed the mw and me yesterday that he was 6ft by the age of 10..... I'm only 5ft 3 and to me the baby still seems under my ribs - how big are we going for?????? I got some raspberry leaf tea the other day, and am planning to make a start today to see if I can evict nipper before she becomes a giant!

Laumiere I had to snigger when I read when your DH's snip is booked for. Is it as a birthday present to you?

Happy slobbing day to everyone - I'm going to hoover the house, and then do bugger all! Well, apart from make a lasagne later... yum!

Boobz · 13/03/2009 08:56

I haven't started on the the RLT yet - can't face it and that's silly as I haven't even tried it so how do I know I will hate it? I can bring myself to have very uncomfortable, unsexy sex with DH but I can't force a cup of tea down myself to evict the bub? Am a weirdo a lot of the time.

OK ladies, give it to me straight. I am still cogitating over baby names and think I have the girl side sorted, but if it's a boy, I am stuck between Zachary (Zach), Isaac (Zach, Ike) and a bit of a left-fielder.... Dashiel (Dash; named after famous American author and yes I know Cate Blanchett's son is called this too). I really want Dashiel but I just don't know if I have the balls. I like Dash is a cool NN for a wee boy and Dashiel is very, erm, dashing, for a man, but I am having problems thinking my mates will think I am a poncetastic loon. What do you all think?

I know there have been babies born so maybe someone who it less lazy than me can update it?

grinningbee · 13/03/2009 09:18

Boobz I'll let you know what the tea is like when I've got up the courage to try it.

Do you think my getting nipper out approach to dh the other day was a bit erm.... dodgy? All I said was "it's like banging on the bottom of a ketchup bottle" I was sort of joking... lol. I'm going to try and pounce on him this weekend

As for names, Dashiel is really nice. Go for it if you want it!

corgikelly · 13/03/2009 09:31

My, what sybaritic lives we're leading these days! We went for dinner with friends last night and they loaded me up with a ton of DVDs (they consider me woefully cinematically uneducated), so I'm hoping that will prevent me from making Tourette's-like lunges for my Blackberry every five minutes to keep up with work.

Although I did get an email last night from my boss (who was just fired)'s boss -- and I quote "I hope you had a nice first day of leave. I'll be sending over some material to you tomorrow and hope you can turn it around over the weekend." Bloody Americans...

boobz, I LOVE the name Dashiel! If it didn't sound so odd with DP's last name, I might have nicked it for myself.

grinningbee, your approach was just about as straightforward - and eyebrow-raising - as my request for perineal massage (upon which I've utterly given up!)

titmouse · 13/03/2009 09:47

I love the name Isaac, it might be our LO's middle name, can't decide between Isaac and Isiah.

laweaselmys · 13/03/2009 10:02

corgi wtf? That's so cheeky. Tell them they've sent it to the wrong person - since you are on LEAVE. If you let them do it now they'll keep doing it when Jr is here and you really don't have the time...

I agreed to babysit a friend's 14month old at our house today. Hopefully they will just sleep. But I am slightly feeling the fear that I have no idea what I am doing and for the first time am not that bothered if baby girl hangs on a bit and is on time/late.

I like Dashiel too Boobz just depends whether your friends are the type to say anything about it I suppose!

OP posts:
babyalfie · 13/03/2009 10:16

oh so many babies been born. My baby was actually due on the 12th (yesetrday0 I have been up all night with period pains and mild contractions. These woke me up at 12pm until about 3am this morning and then they stopped for good. This morning feel fine and baby very active indeed.

Good luck to everybody!

babyalfie · 13/03/2009 10:20

oh also i like the name Noah- what do people think.

My other children are

Emily Rose
Hollie Elizabeth
Tobias (toby) William so think fits in well do you... as for middle names thought of either

Noah Charles or
Noah Francis

opinions please

babyinbelly · 13/03/2009 10:25

Woohoo. Just had my show! Am 41 weeks today so hoping this means labour is imminant but not getting my hopes up! No blood in it tho. Is this normal? Looked a bit like orange jelly! Still good news considering MW yesterday trying to rush a c/s.

Corgi from what you have said you don't get an awful lot of mat leave where you are. Send the work back and make the most of you chillaxing time!

Boobz Call your baby what you like. My mum hates my choice of names but I wont let it change my mind. She has named all my pets all of my life so there is no way anyone else will ever get a say on my childs name. I have to live with it forever!

babyinbelly · 13/03/2009 10:27

Think Noah fits in lovely babyalfie. Out of the 2 middle names I like charles but both are nice.

titmouse · 13/03/2009 10:33

Noah also a lovely name! I prefer Charles to Francis but agree with bib that both are nice.

We are probably going to have Seth Isaac or Seth Isaiah for a boy or Layla Joy for a girl. the suspense is getting too much now, been firmly convinced for months it is a boy but so badly want to know!!

Boobz · 13/03/2009 10:50

Am convinced mine's a boy as well - no idea why.

Has anyone been watching the Red Riding triliogy? It's BRILLIANT! You can watch it at channel4.com if you've missed the first 2 episodes. Great maternity leave material.

No shows or anything for me here - never thought I would be jealous of a big blob of mucous Babyinbelly! You lucky girl!

Dog is woofing in her sleep to doggy dreams. So cute.

God I'm bored. Going to do my last load of expenses and go to Post Office. Oh the excitment.

Come back Honey and tell us your homebirth story and how much Castor Oil you consumed to set off labour!

babyinbelly · 13/03/2009 11:05

I've been waiting a long time for it Boobz! Never had a show with DS so it was a bit of a shock TBH. Didn't realise how much there would be!

DP gets really angry when the dogs whine in their sleep. He doesn't like noise!

Boobz · 13/03/2009 11:43

Noah Charles is a good name...

Boobz · 13/03/2009 11:49

Am watching Portland babies... why do people like being filmed for these things? I can't imagine it relaxes you much during labour.

Everyone seems to have an epidural on these programmes - is everyone here planning to go that way?

Right, off to lunch for a massive feed. My appetite is still HUGE!

grinningbee · 13/03/2009 12:11

I'm going to be different and say I like Francis for the middle name.

I haven't got a clue whether or not to have an epidural.

When I had my mmc I was left to get on with it at home (tmi coming up) it was incredibly painful - as in didn't know whether to sit, stand or lay as it was all agony (hospital said take neurofen!!) and I ended up passing the placenta which was the size of my hand at home.

Now, I realise that this is nothing compared to the size of a ginormous baby! I think I'll just see what happens (read into that, ask for every drug going!!)

warn you that raspberry tea is vile, like drinking lawn clippings ugh! unless it was the way i made it...?! feeling quite chilled and mellow today, makes a change - less impatient for now, anyway! my youngest is napping, older watching tv, off to friend's house soon so they can run riot as i sit on my bum eating cake hooray!
don't really fance epidural either, but who knows, never say never!
anyone tell me what happened in last 20 mins of red riding last nite? we both fell asleep! got to the bit when you found out why the barmaid girl was killed....
good luck ladies! xx

mum2b09 · 13/03/2009 13:55

afternoon ladies rubyring i second that about the rasberry tea being vile adding abit of sugar helps abit but not much..

This week has been the longest week of my life, due on sunday with my first

Not too keen on the idea of an epidural.. numbing your body of pian your meant to feel to help push your baby out just seems abit extreme.. undecided on other pain releif but ill probably want the lot when i go into labour
