Also (especially for bronze, as I know she's worried because of her own obviously horrible experience), I'm not really going to do anything to get him out yet. I am going to be good & remain on bedrest (although I'm still contracting very uncomfortably, albeit not painfully, every 20 minutes without moving at all in an hour & not really beyond going for a wee for about 24 hours) for a couple of weeks at least. It may well drive me insane, but at least I have MN & Sky at home - hospital was not fun!

I am frustrated because I really do instinctively believe that he's fine & ready to come out. He's very strong, perfectly positioned & these contractions aren't half persistent. He's also a big, chubby baby & has been for weeks now already - even at the 3D scan at 29 weeks, that was obvious. I know that he's still only 34 weeks & I will be responsible, but all of the advice is taken on an average - & averages need extremes to be an average. I truly believe that LO is just a bigger-than-average baby who is ready to come out - it's my body posing the problem!

But yes. Responsible mother will spend the next few weeks in bed / on the sofa unless they stop entirely - & then I'll be taking it very steady & stopping as soon as I feel the slightest twinge. I will be researching ways of solving my cervix issue when it's the right time, though - I have visions of a birthing pool not an induction & CS!

Awww Nutty then we should have stayed a bit longer - I'm sure mini-munchkin would LOVE to be a beautiful Welsh baby!

Off to bed now, with NO NOOKIE at all for the next few weeks! This weekend was too scary for words...

night night

SpringySunshine · 01/03/2009 21:34

Ooh, Kitty, you're in the Twinge Club too? Lucky you

& I really want to go to Wales soon It's so nice in the Spring. I can say that & think of lovely bouncy lambs without it being weird, because I'm not Welsh

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 01/03/2009 21:35

Night Night Kitty xxx hope the BH's ease for you xx

Do you think I'm allowed to orgasm if there's no prodding at me / prostagladins? If it's all just external stimulation?

& I can still give BJs, can't I? If I don't swallow?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 01/03/2009 21:38

baaaa they should have a sheep emoticon

Springy!!!! lol will your dh still go near you now?? lol

i'm sure bj's will be fine if you spit not sure the bean flicking will help with the contractions though

Springy love, it has nothing to do with George's size, it's the fact he will have a bit of trouble feeding if he is born now and that will make bf difficult as well as him needing time in SCBU. As Bronze says, not nice.

If you want my advice, don't have sex at the moment - no orgasms for you I'm afraid, definitely no thrusting, no swallowing of sperm but spitting after a BJ is probably OK.

If I were you I would consider booking in for a home birth right now, because you might then find the standard of mw care starts to get a lot better - appointments at home, ability to meet the whole team of mw, that kind of thing. Coupled with a judicious complaint to PALS about your experiences last night and you may find suddenly they take you a bit more seriously. Once you have booked for a HB you can change your mind at any time, even during labour, so you are not committing to anything at all. But you do get better care in the interim.

Also remember you are very young, so no matter what your personality is like, there is a certain kind of medical professional who will fail to take you sufficiently seriously on that basis alone.

mathsmummy27 · 01/03/2009 21:54

just logged on and glad to see I'm just in time for smut

Any orgasm could trigger contractions ( although I wouldn't let that stop ME) actually the prostaglandins just ripen the cervix. No evidence bjs make any difference at all.

Springy, I know how you feel. My LO is ready to come out too, I can feel her head, cervix is closed atm but I'm sure she will be early. Just don't stress and follow your instincts

SpringySunshine · 01/03/2009 21:55

I want orgasms too & don't worry Nutty, I wasn't being eloquent either

Boffin, people started talking to me a little more nicely once I had my whopping English Renaissance Drama book on the table, but still. As for the HB, I was thinking this. I don't know how keen DH will be on the idea of booking for one, even without the intention of following through - he got scared enough last night, bless him. I think the sheer thought of it happening here might make him collapse in fear. Will put it to him, though. Perhaps after a non-swallowy BJ.

mathsmummy27 · 01/03/2009 21:57

What is this swallowing nonsense? It's male propaganda you know

SpringySunshine · 01/03/2009 22:00

I prefer swallowing - it's so much easier, & not any more unpleasant. Plus DH thinks that it's some great expression of my love, which I'll happily let him believe.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 01/03/2009 22:00

springy you know your man is going to agree to anything after a BJ tis cheating

OP posts:
BoffinMum · 01/03/2009 22:00

Well I think you need to make the point that your mw care is practically non-existent, and there may be even some ageism going on, and this would mean you got proper care and bypassed a lot of problems.

When it comes to the crunch, if you feel relaxed in your own home, you might find your cervix is a bit more co-operative and labour easier.

Do you want me to send you some hypnobirthing stuff to help with this?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 01/03/2009 22:02

i like swallowing too, much easier

OP posts:
BoffinMum · 01/03/2009 22:02

BTW on 4th March (I think) there is a tour of the midwife led birthing unit at your hospital and if you can perhaps you should try to go?? That is another option whereby you have a better chance of sensitive care.

BoffinMum · 01/03/2009 22:03

I do not like swallowing. I have to be quite pissed (aka 3 glasses of wine!)

SpringySunshine · 01/03/2009 22:08

I don't know enough about hypnobirthing to make a call, Boff. What does it entail? I only know of your creepy videos

& I swallow all the time (I really do just find it more convenient), but the minute I've got any alcohol in my bloodstream, I'm dying to give a BJ to the bloke who can whip it out of his pants first - I don't know what it is, but it suddenly becomes the most desirable act to perform in the world

& yes, will look into that tour of the MLU, definitely.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 01/03/2009 22:11

do you have to take a stash of lollies with you when you go out?

OP posts:
SmuttyNuttyTaff · 01/03/2009 22:13

they do willy lollies which would be perfect for you

OP posts:
mathsmummy27 · 01/03/2009 22:13

I don't mean why do you do it - I mean why does everyone think it helps ripen cervix? poppycock

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 01/03/2009 22:15

Boff's MW said so! and one of the other girls said it was written in her booklet thingy

OP posts:
SmuttyNuttyTaff · 01/03/2009 22:17
