Springy Update - (direct from text) Still waiting to be assessed at all (just as well i'm not DYING), but getting more frequent and painful. Can feel serious tightening at the top of my bump now too. at the end of each contraction i can feel his head above my fanjo but thats pretty much the only movement from him at the moment. Can see the contractions through my top and they now require me to totally shut down close my eyes and just breath through them. Whatevers going on, its very strange & theres a family of hillbillies in here, but they're keeping us entertained . There are four of them on one chair with another 2 wandering the hospital. one of the teenage boys has a baseball cap on, hood up & bandanna round his face. I made a gun with my fingers and whispered "pow pow pow" to dh and we're still giggling. i'm in very good spirits in between the pain xxx

Nutty, she should have been assessed quicker than this. She needs the steroid injection IMO. Can you text her and tell her this from me? Tell her to start mooing to get attention.(I am serious!) Thanks.

conkertree · 28/02/2009 21:39

wow just popped on to say a quick hello and turns out it could be a live labour thread. hope she is getting assessed by now.

hope all the rest of you are doing well - seems like ages since I was on but it has really only been 2 days. i take it something's kicked off on another thread Boffin? have just been skimming to see what was happening with springy - you are not leaving us are you boffin? where would we go for advice? we need you here.

Swaliswan · 28/02/2009 21:41

Wow, just popped on to say a quick hello and how happy I am to be on mat leave and I find that it's all kicking off. In case it hasn't been said by someone else, at 34 weeks, they don't bother stopping your labour and you no longer need steroids. So, if this really is labour then there will be a baby here sooner rather than later! Good luck, Springy!

BoffinMum · 28/02/2009 21:42

Hi Conker - I was lurking and I have been drawn back to this thread by Springy's labour story, and everyone has been so nice I have decided to keep posting here but nowhere else.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/02/2009 21:43

Springy Update - am hooked up to a belt monitor at the moment. still contracting. Waiting for the doctor . The Midwife is a BITCH. in private room for now though which is nicer.

BoffinMum · 28/02/2009 21:44

Swali, I am glad to hear she doesn't need the injection. I was worried they were neglecting her.

Hey everyone, do you think it would be easier just to all bowl up there to Sheffield??? Fanjo Warrior Commune style???

Swaliswan · 28/02/2009 21:45

I should say that I was told by the consultant in Southampton that 34 weeks is the cut off point for them stopping labour and giving steroids. It could be different elsewhere. But, I think that by 34 weeks the baby has had enough exposure to surfactant to not have serious breathing difficulties. DD was born at 34+6 (I know that is 6 days later than Springy) and she didn't need any help with breathing.

Swaliswan · 28/02/2009 21:46

Hmmmmmmm, if Springy is saying that the midwife is a bitch, then I think she must be in labour.

BoffinMum · 28/02/2009 21:47

Nutty, can you remind her she can change mw if she is unhappy? If there is a free one that is!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/02/2009 21:52

all advice sent.

this is too exciting!!! i may wet myself!!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/02/2009 21:55

Swaliswan · 28/02/2009 21:55

Nutty, at least you can take your mobile to the loo. My laptop dies when it's not plugged in!

BoffinMum · 28/02/2009 21:57

I am a bit jealous of Springy, actually!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/02/2009 21:57

understaffed even.

swaliswan good point!!! ok must go to loo now lol damn pregnancy bladder!! grrr

OP posts:
Swaliswan · 28/02/2009 22:00

Nutty, can you ask Springy what the CTG is saying? How high do her contractions make the monitor go (should be a number up to 100).

BoffinMum · 28/02/2009 22:01

Also have they examined the cervix yet?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/02/2009 22:05

Just asked

will she get in trouble for me texting her too much? [worried]

OP posts:
Swaliswan · 28/02/2009 22:07

I doubt it. They might think that she isn't in much pain if she is still texting away though
