Ok then, not had nookie for aaaaaaaaaages, planning a frog cake for DD's birthday in April. Just bought a bumper pack of maternity pads that look like hammocks.

PuzzleRocks · 28/02/2009 19:23

I think we'll forgo the cigars though.

BoffinMum · 28/02/2009 19:24

We have been managing once a week but thrusting is banned until week 37, when it will be demanded.

I have 4.5 packs of maternity pads which will probably last me all of 3 days knowing my luck.

I last did cooking in November, because of the SPD.

BoffinMum · 28/02/2009 19:28

Just had a surreal thought.
I hope it doesn't end up like the Midwich Cuckoos with everyone giving birth on the same night!

PuzzleRocks · 28/02/2009 19:28

Rather dodgy sentence construction of mine. Looks like we are abstaining for the purposes of cake making.

BabyBolat · 28/02/2009 19:28

I've just skimmed that thread and I have to say I was a bit disgusted (as I generally am with other threads on MN)

I do disagree with using independent forums like this one to PR books and increase sales and act as 'experts' (in the form of Gilian Kieth or whatever her name is!) but like you say not everyone realises that is what is happening but appreciate other people may want to hear what she says.

What I don't agree with and the thing that makes me genuinely embarrassed to be associated with this site is the fact that people throw insults around so willy nilly - truly, it starts as opinions which everyone is entitled to but then there is swearing and name calling and constant put downs within the first 15 posts - that it is just like a cat fight and actually the issue becomes irrelevant as the focus is on who can argue the hardest and not listen to facts or opinions! !

PuzzleRocks · 28/02/2009 19:30

Ooh I loved that story, very sinister.

BabyBolat · 28/02/2009 19:31

Ok on the one hand I am so excited that I want her to have little George but on the other hand I will have a full-on strop if she beats me by 6 weeks!!!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/02/2009 19:37

BoffinMum · 28/02/2009 19:40

LOL Puzzle, picture!!

Also it sounds like you are planning to put the maternity pads on the cake!

Re: nasty thread. I put a lot of thought into my big post, because I thought it was an important alternative point to make, and then when people just started insulting me and saying I was jealous of FM because she was a journo, and richer and thinner than me, etc etc, I was really shocked that a debate would sink to that level. I can't imagine blokes doing that.

PuzzleRocks · 28/02/2009 19:40

It's from a film version of the Midwich Cuckoos by John Wyndham. The film is called Village of the Damned and is a trashy interpretation of a great book but worth a look all the same.

PuzzleRocks · 28/02/2009 19:42

Boff - Who says i'm not.

BabyBolat · 28/02/2009 19:44

That's my point boff, what would her being thin and rich have anything to do with it - these things come out of no-where and are so insulting it is not even funny! I was disgusted for you! how do they know you are not some size 8, multi-millionaire! Ridiculous! People too often take their own insecurities out on other people!

That picture is scary!

BoffinMum · 28/02/2009 19:44

BTW BB, I think the Gillian McKeith thing is a good analogy, actually. She also undermined the work of a lot of very serious research nutritionists by flogging overpriced ready mixed chlorinated salads in Tesco in the name of branding. And she pretended to be better qualified than she was.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/02/2009 19:46

Puzzle - i will have to read the book then watch the film will order on amazon (bit scared though may skip the film lol)

Boffin - they really arent worth your time, any kind of debate usually turns into a playground squabble, tis best not to get involved and only look at fluffy stuff tbh. it's unfortunate that it ends up that way but it does.

OP posts:
SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/02/2009 19:48

you could use them as lilly pads

OP posts:
BoffinMum · 28/02/2009 19:49

DH said they were rounding on me because I had won the moral argument and got their weak flank. I think he is right.

PuzzleRocks · 28/02/2009 19:51

And just tell everyone one I got my pads mixed up.

PuzzleRocks · 28/02/2009 19:52

Boff - Of course he is right.

BoffinMum · 28/02/2009 19:52

You are right about the need to avoid these threads everyone and I have learned my lesson.

Thanks for being so supportive about it all.

BoffinMum · 28/02/2009 19:53

It seems I am back now then.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/02/2009 19:55

Springy Update - she's in triage, long queue, contractions still happening, so just waiting
