LOOK AT THE LENGTHS WE'LL GO TO TO GET YOU BACK HERE, BOFFIN! You should feel honoured

At the height of the pain of each of them, I feel constipated, but I feel fine the rest of the time. That sounds uncomfortably familiar

BabyBolat · 28/02/2009 18:51

Springy, he would probably just be a bit small but like boff said, he will need a steroid injection for his lungs so really really go in to the hospital now as even if it is nothing they will be able to check it out for you and get you all hooked up. There is no saying what he will or what need until he is out (if he is ready to come) but I think it would be safer for you to be there now and they can check it all out for you.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/02/2009 18:51

springy for her contractions reeling boff back in

springy get your cute butt into hospital or at least phone the MW! stop being stubbourn lol :pppp xxxxx and good luck !!!

Springy

  1. Are they becoming more regular?
  2. Are they becoming more painful?
  3. Do they feel different to the pains you had before?
  4. Do you feel any pressure down there?
  5. Is your tummy tender to touch?

If the answer to any of these is YES you have to go to the hospital (that is what my MW said to me when I was in with the BHs!)

BabyBolat · 28/02/2009 18:54

Seriously springy not to be a bully (you have even distracted me from the house cleaning and work I was supposed to do) but I think you are taking a risk not going to the hospital now. (sorry!)

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/02/2009 18:55

I have to say i'm with Boff and BB! go!! xx

OP posts:
SpringySunshine · 28/02/2009 18:57

My bump also looks... narrower now. I thought so & told DH that I thought that it looked 'different' (without specifying) & what he thought, & he said that it looks like it's been squished in at the sides, too. What's that about?

Will phone the hospital now. Will report back in a minute.

BoffinMum · 28/02/2009 18:58

Baby will be fine, but from seeing what happened on the ante-natal ward last month to other women going through similar things, you will need medical attention and hopefully 24-48 hours bed rest before delivering to have steroid injections to mature the baby's lungs. Baby will probably be taken to SCBU for a little while.

DO NOT repeat DO NOT give birth at home!! If you have to, get on all fours and get your head down and your bum right up in the air while the ambulance comes, and pant to avoid pushing. (Hopefully it won't come to that - this is a worst case scenario).

Check list:

  1. Eat something like an omelette and a bit of bread.
  1. Basic emergency bag contents: toiletries, dark towel, lots of pants, maternity pads, pyjamas, slippers, dressing gown, slumber mask, ear plugs, some loose change, magazine or book, hand held maternity notes. Hospital can provide the rest of DH can go home to get it.
BabyBolat · 28/02/2009 19:02

When DH comes home to a messy house and no clean dishes I am blaming you springysunshine (see I am even using your full name!!!)

Boffin, please don't go anywhere, we will help you stay away from those nasty other threads but it really isn't the same without you xxxx

On that, have we heard from Bleu for a while?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/02/2009 19:05

Not since last thread BB i was gonna give her a mail on monday if still no show.

Boffin - you have to stay!!! look at all this good advice!! what would we do without you xxx just hide all other threads aside from this one xx

BabyBolat · 28/02/2009 19:07

If she has gone and had her baby too....

SpringySunshine · 28/02/2009 19:07

Ooh, BB must be serious if she's using my full name

I'm about to go in, but I can just tell that they're going to stop as soon as I get there & the last 9 or so hours of pain are going to mean nothing & I'll just look like I'm being all crazy & PFB.

The woman on the triage phone was totally losing her voice, which made the call even more fun with me trying to listen through a contraction DH is having a very quick shower & I'm going to chuck a few things into the bag. I'll post again before we go - & I have frekkles' & Nutty's numbers to keep you updated

BoffinMum · 28/02/2009 19:09

Best thing to do.

Top tip: Make sure you have some money for the PatientLine telly because you will be sitting around bored a lot, I imagine, strapped to a monitor. If you have spare headphones, take those, because the headphones they have are often broken.

BabyBolat · 28/02/2009 19:10

Boff I don't ever go outside this thread (apart from when you create funny threads!) and I wouldn't want to as I to me MN is about supporting each other and there doesn't seem to be that culture outside of this thread!

Out of interest which thread was it -

BoffinMum · 28/02/2009 19:10

Do the reverse of active labour to keep him in there as long as possible as well, i.e. rest up and chill out!

What is the duration and frequency now?

BoffinMum · 28/02/2009 19:11

Fiona Millar one
Those women are horrid. They remind me of people I was at school with.

BabyBolat · 28/02/2009 19:11

Springy updates every 15 -30 minutes please!!! Nutty, you know you are not going to be able to leave your phone OR computer now!!!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/02/2009 19:12

Well done honey!! Good Luck xx text anytime i'm up most of the night anyway xx ((hugs))

OP posts:
BoffinMum · 28/02/2009 19:13

Springy, take your phone charger!
If I can flippin well post from my hospital bed so can you!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 28/02/2009 19:14

Boffin - they are knobheads and not much better than bullys, ignore them xx stay here with us, we love you xx

OP posts:
PuzzleRocks · 28/02/2009 19:15

Bicnod - Enjoy your dinner.

Boff - I'm so glad you are still here. We'd be lost without you.

BB - Put down the sewing kit!

Has Springy gone yet?

BoffinMum · 28/02/2009 19:18

Love you too!!

God it's exciting to practically have a live birth thread. I did not expect that whilst lurking. I expected a Bleu cake recipe, a debate about maternity pads and an account of various people's nookie habits.

SpringySunshine · 28/02/2009 19:19

Right, just leaving. They're still the same as they have been, but I'm hoping that they stay that way until I've proved that I'm not crazy

Will let you know as & when things happen. Love to you all! xx

PuzzleRocks · 28/02/2009 19:21

Big kisses Springy, take care sweetheart.

BoffinMum · 28/02/2009 19:21

Phew, she's off.

I feel like an expectant dad in the 1950s, pacing the corridors of a maternity hospital.
