Hi Doggus - just to echo what everyone else said - so so sorry to hear your news

Blarbie · 26/03/2009 21:51

Hello all. I posted a long while back but not since. Sorry to all the MCs. I was due to have a scan Tuesday, but had to postpone to 7th April as dp couldn't make it and it was too hard for me any other days. What if there's nothing there and it's all a big joke?

patmum · 27/03/2009 07:45

doggus really sorry to hear your news, I just can't imagine.

Scan due on monday and I too keep wondering what if there's no heart beat, or something dreadful will show up etc. I almost took it all for granted last time. I think I knew a lot less and therefore didn't fret so much. Definitely one instance where too much information is a bad thing.

Yesterday a friend turned round and said to just look at DS and note that I am capable of making a perfectly healthy baby and that there is no reason to anticipate trouble.

My head knows that this is true but my heart isn't listening!

Welcome ruby and welcome back blarbie.

Jammy Git sugarkane that's one way of having the time pass quickly!

DevilsAdvocaat · 27/03/2009 07:46

hi ruby! welcome to the thread beware, it moves fast

sammysam · 27/03/2009 08:17

Still thinking of you doggus x x x

Trying to remember what has been said-welcome to ruby!

Sugarkane-that is amazing news that must feel so good!
Congrats to the good scans today!

HC-with dd my ms lasted til 5months as well-this time it has been so much worse and different that i'm hoping it is starting to peter off now.......It has been quite a lot better but still not great but i'm having to take my meds less which can only be a good thing!!

We told dp's dad last night-they had kind of guessed as we had asked to go round plus he said that it's about time!!! Funny thing is that really if dp had his way we would have waited far longer-had to bite my tongue Anyway they are very happy for us, but was all quite weird!

I bought dd a new duvet and cover yesterday and she was beside herself with excitement at bedtime-hand over mouth, saying how lucky she is!!! Bless her!!!

Good luck for any scans today

spongebrainbigpants · 27/03/2009 08:23

sugarkane, I have a 9 mth old DS!

He was conceived through IVF and we were told that we couldn't conceive naturally so never bothered with contraception - wasn't quite the age gap we planned but it's amazing that we don't have to do another cycle!

Nice to know someone else is in the same boat as I'm also worried about how I'm going to cope .

patmum, we're also having a scan on Monday - only 9 weeks but with our history I can't wait to my 12 wk scan for reassurance .

DevilsAdvocaat · 27/03/2009 08:59

wow spongebrain, that must have been a surprise

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 27/03/2009 09:02

Hi, I have dossed off work again. Feeling only slightly guilty as only have a bit of a cold but been feeling so tired.

However, yesterday it was brill because I could eat bizarre things almost constantly and not worry about holding my gut new bump in. Waiting til after scan to tell them (2 weeks to go!)...

Also when DS came home from nursery we had a lovely time cos I wasn't all stressed out and late from work. Am I going to end up a SAHM???? - must be the hormones.

How is everyone feeling this morning?

KKKKaty · 27/03/2009 09:14

Welcome Ruby and Blarbie

Sugarkane and Spongebrain - you've certainly got your work cut out!

I'm feeling great today! After our great scan yesterday, and telling all our friends and family I'm finally letting myself get excited. I also seem to have expanded overnight and now have nothing to prevent me (not that I did before, but just waiting for the scan IYSWIM!) going to the maternity shop today and getting some trousers that FIT! Looking forward to that. Since having seen my little blob moving around on the screen I've been feeling a little guilty about winching myself into my jeans - don't want to squash it!

spongebrainbigpants · 27/03/2009 09:16

DA, yes, you can say that again!! Dh and I sat on the sofa and laughed for about half an hour just staring at this pink line on the pg test! I still find myself forgetting I'm pg sometimes tbh - despite the constant nausea and excruciating SPD!

HalfMum, can sympathise with you on the tiredness - exhausting isn't it? I really hope my 2nd wind kicks in at 12 wks!

KleineMaus · 27/03/2009 09:19

Really about Doggus. How awful.

Still feeling sick at almost 14 weeks. Trying to remember when it stopped last time. Around now I think (hope...)

It was my birthday yesterday and DH bought me a bike! Big surprise. My first thought was 'but I'm pregnant what am I supposed to do with that!' But I suppose I could get a couple of months out of it. We have a disused railway line at the bottom of our garden and I can cycle on that without having to worry about traffic knocking me off. The last time I was pregnant on my birthday DH bought me an accordion! I had always wanted one but my bump was too big to even put it on and I would've deafened the poor baby.

Blarbie · 27/03/2009 09:42

hey Spongebrain, I've got SPD too. Bummer so early eh? I'm seeing a chiropractor and it is getting better. I have it really bad in lower back, just sometimes in the pubis bit, so she's treating the back part and this is helping the front part too - does that make sense? Very expensive, but it's best to start early - be much more expensive if I had to stop work.

rubyslippers · 27/03/2009 09:55

Happy birthday KM - MS is rubbish isn't it?

I have had it MUCH worse this time around and it has tailed off a bit now (heading for 13 weeks)

i got some of those sea sickness bands which did seem to help

sponegbrain - SPD is miserable ... didn't know it could kick in so early

it may take me a while to get up to speed with everyone on here i think!

HappyTangerine · 27/03/2009 10:22

KKKaty, LittleMissBliss and Sugarkane - congrats on your scans yesterday!

Welcome rubyslippers and blarbie

Feeling a bit rubbish today, started being sick at 5am(but progress from 4am )and feel sick a lot at the moment. Was supposted to have my root canal yesterday but its been put back to after baby is born-he just filed down into tooth, packed it with more antiseptic and put a white filling over it-all without anisthetic! Not painful but uncomfortable. Was sick as soon as he finished and then stupidly went into town where I was ill again-so gave up and came home.

Does anyone know where I can get travel sickess bands from? Boots didn't have any yesterday.

Good luck to everyone having scans today

HappyTangerine · 27/03/2009 10:23

Sorry-KleineMaus, happy birthday for yesterday x

HumphreysCorner · 27/03/2009 10:35

KleineMaus-Happy B'Day for yesterday.

I had SPD last time and it was awful. I had bad sciatica with DD1.

This morning I have terrible cramping so going to search MN archives and then see if I can hear a heartbeat on my doppler.

Catch y'as later!

KleinMaus - I went to the lake district last time when pg and remember cycling round a lake with a massive bump and legs wide apart. Most ungainly but do-able.

HappyTangerine - morning sickness with actual puking sounds horrible. I just have to eat non stop which stops me feeling sick. The tooth sounds like the icing on the cake! Hope you stop the morning sickness soon!

Just scoffed my 2nd breakfast. Still hungry - like the hungry caterpillar!

spongebrainbigpants · 27/03/2009 12:22

KM, you did give me a wonderful mental image of a hugely pg woman trying to play an accordion! That's a very original present!

Blarbie, I'm seeing an osteopath - well, just started this week, so hoping to see some improvement soon.

ruby, no, I didn't realise it could kick in so early either. I was expecting it to come back, and maybe I bit earlier than last time, I wasn't expecting it sooo early. It's going to be a looong pg .

Sorry to all those with bad MS - I just get nausea and the constant need to eat (not a hardship for me!) but no actual puking thank god.

theboob · 27/03/2009 13:41

happy birthday KM
welcome to ruby and blarbie

well my consultant apt went well,i heard the baby's heart beat and it was strong and i melted ,i have to have a GTT at 28 weeks, then see him again at 30 weeks,i will be scanned from this point to monitor baby's growth and fluid levels and he said i would be induced at 38 weeks again i found ds2 birth so much easier and enjoyable with him being smaller,so i'm pleased with todays apt

hope all with MS are doing well, mine has gone now thank god, hope you all have a good day x x

sammysam · 27/03/2009 14:08

Happy belated birthday KM! I was wandering about bike riding-my balance wasn't great when pg last time! But i'd love to be able to ride in the spring/summer....

Happytangerine-ouch -that doesn't sound too nice at all!! I have visions of you heading straight to the dentists from the delivery ward

Got my combined results back in the post this morning-have a risk of 1:24697 which sounds quite low.
Does anyone know what the PAPP-A result means? There is also a result for 'Free beta hCG'-is this just hCG?
Didn't get this much info with dd-have no idea what it all means

To all those with bad backs-great sympathy-I have a bad back normally but for some reason it was fine when i was pg last time. It's not been too great so far so off to acupunture again in a week or so-hopefully it'll help!

sammysam · 27/03/2009 14:11

Thats great news boob-must make you feel more relaxed
What is a GTT?

sammysam · 27/03/2009 14:11

theboob · 27/03/2009 14:29

thanks sammysam it does
GTT is a glucose tolerence test ,it was clear last time but they still dont know why i grow big baby's and have so much fluid, thin they just do this to rule it out

HappyTangerine · 27/03/2009 14:34

Yay for theboob, so glad it went well and that you heard the heartbeat

sammysam-congrats on the combined test results LOL at delivery suite to dentist, this tooth thing seems to have gone on forever

Just spoke to my doctor on the phone - had to resubmit a urine test last week as the first one came back with a white blood cell count that went through the roof. They wanted to check for protein before starting me on treatment for uti. Results are in - everything back to normal! So pleased, can testify to cranberry juice and gallons of water clearing it up.

Must have looked an odd sight in town this morning-the only thing that seems to stop me feeling nauseous is smelling salt & vinegar crisps. So there I am outside M & S, frantically sniffing a packet of Discos whilst trying to scrath my (permanatly itchy) back with a hairbrush as well! I must have looked like a hyperventilating contortionist loon!

Dogstar-I definately sympathise with the itchy back!

ballio · 27/03/2009 15:14

Oh my, just seen, so sorry doggus!

Had my scan today, alls good. got a good NT of 1:2000 whereas i had 1:94 with DS so happy with that. Baby is showing big for gestation already, as it did with DS. So i have growth scans and GTT (Glucose tolerance test)
Boob i had GTT with DS too and it was fine so also wondering why i have to have one but hey ho! i grow bigun's too
Very happy!
