Here ya go, new thread! We're almost there!!!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Naat · 05/03/2009 20:36

MrsMcJnr, well, he just proved once again that he's useless!!!! Such bad news he's the only MW there... So you "need" to go through them so as to be able to give birth in a state hosp? How strange... (Spaniards are quite odd with some things, but don't tell anyone ...)

I'm a native Spanish speaker (I'm Argentinian) and I work with Spanish-English-Portuguese at the moment (trying to add French in the future). My DH was born in Brazil but "by accident" haha, as his parents relocated there for work at that time, so he's "Argentinian" in reality as well

Tibsy, yes, I'm abolutely knackered! My eyes hurt hahaha I'm glued to the sofa and don't know how I'm going to cook dinner before DH comes back from uni! (He works ft + studies at the moment, bless him).

Ladies, don't look at the thread from MN reviewing slings, it's just tooo much!!! I'm now more confused than ever hahaha, there are so many!!

tibsy · 05/03/2009 20:38

mrsmc, just looked back thru the thread and dreamy has 7 i am in awe of that woman and i've never even met her

ermin i made dp take note that i had actually remained dressed for him the other evening, rather than getting into my pjs as soon as it got dark (like usual) thought he might have forgotten what i looked like with clothes on!!!
enjoy your bath and jama time!!!

MrsMcJnr · 05/03/2009 20:41

Naat - you can just turn up in labour at the state hospital and they will treat you but I am too much of a control freak not to have ticked more boxes than that! you'll be a very useful lady to know if I get stuck translating my birth plan!

tibsy · 05/03/2009 20:43

naat x posted lovely. your poor dh and poor you, hope you get inspired with something quick and easy to rustle up or that dh gets inspired by a takeaway

think i'd better head off and check that ds not still working on his revision. he'll be needing to wind down before bed (bad mummy)
night all

Naat · 05/03/2009 20:56

Night night, Tibsy I won't last too long tonight either hahaha

MrsMcJnr, absolutely. Whenever you need help with anything, just let me know. More than happy to help
Oh, now I understand about the hospital thing... I'd have done/do the same you're doing, I'm a control freak as well

lauraloo09 · 05/03/2009 21:18

goodness me this thread moves quicker every day, finding it so hard to keep up...

mrsmcjnr sorry to hear about your appointment with the MW the 'attitude' was the last thing you need during pregnancy.

Just a quick post before I try and get some sleep (aiming for more than 5 hours tonight) Pain in hip/leg is still there but I have bought a support pillow from mothercare wso I'm hoping this will help me.

nighty night all x

LittleSarah · 05/03/2009 21:36

Hello ladies

Sorry to hear about your appointment MrsMcJnr, I would be absolutely fuming! Bastard doctor.

All this talk about 28 week appointments reminds me I need to make one. I tried a couple of weeks ago but the midwives apparently were getting a new computer system and so you couldn't book though docs and have to phone them direct between 11 and 12 and of course I keep forgetting! Must do tomorrow. (Especially for getting the grant form thingy!)

herbaceous - Welcome back! You have been through such a lot, so glad this one is working out for you.

Two things from my side;

Have a horrendous cold, all blocked up and sinus-y ugh.

My graduation ball date has been set for the 30th May, yes, a week before my due date when I'll no doubt be the size of a house! Typical.

June2009 · 05/03/2009 23:24

Just got back from 2nd NCT class and talked about the process of labour/birth which was really good, it is so nice to have a proper break from work. Definitely cheered up now ;)

littlesarah Are you really "little" by the way? ;)
People in clothes shops keep referring to me as "petite" which makes me laugh, theyre obviously talking about my height and not my general apperance right now :D
Do you know what you'll be wearing at the ball? I have a wedding at the end of April and really wondering how much bigger I'll be then and what to wear???

juicy Hope you're ok, haven't heard from you for what seems like ages.

Best wishes to students with assignements (and stuff)!
I decided to take a year out to come to England after my second year into my degree in France and never went back!!

mrssnowombat how was your wedding :D

tibsy I try and make an effort to get dressed properly from time to time as well, mainly when see other people as my old tired tracksuit bottoms & pg sports top are really unflaterring.
Unfortunately we have bil and/or sil round for dinner a few times a week and always them and other relatives on sundays so I have to put something decent on then.

Tee not sure about the saliva thing.
Have you found a nightie? I'm still looking.

We're hopefully closing the deal on a car tomorrow now that the interest rates have come down again the bank will get back to us with a new financing offer, fingers crossed for us!

LittleSarah · 06/03/2009 07:24

June - I'm pretty short, about 5'4, and usually a size 10, but getting bigger the noo! I think I probably will get a ticket but it's £55, have to give £30 by end of the month and they aren't even sure whether you can bring partners yet!

helpivegottogivebirth · 06/03/2009 07:25

LauraLoo - what sort of pain are you getting in your hip/leg?

Over the last few days I have developed a dull ache that spreads through my right buttock. It's not sore as such, I'm just aware of it. And it's worse at night as I have insomnia. I went swimming yesterday - didn't do much.

I'm really annoyed - last week I had the energy, drive and 'joie de vivre' of a spring lamb - this week I feel like my 90yr old granny. I hope it is just a 'passing phase'...

Naat · 06/03/2009 08:22

Morning!

Although I'm really tired and my body aches badly (back, legs) I can't seem to be able to sleep anymore... I had a sleepless patch between 3 and 5 HOpe you girls had a better night than me...

LittleSarah, Sorry about the cold, hope it's better today. The ball sounds nice but how come they don't know if partners are "allowed"?

June, Glad you enjoyed your class and that it cheered you up! We have a tour of the birthing centre on the 29th and they told me that day we could book ourselves a place at the antenatal classes so I still have some time to wait. Fingers crossed over here for the car!!!! Do let us know how it all goes.

Help, the same happens to me! One week I'm thriving and the next I have a day like yesterday that leaves me feeling like an 89-year-old! Yes, let's hope it's a "phase"

Tee2072 · 06/03/2009 09:40

Morning all.

Well made it through my day of hell yesterday to my day off today!

I am going this afternoon for the baby's heart scan. I am not worried about it (my OB on Tuesday was very reassuring) but if anyone wants to send some good thoughts my way around 2:30 today, we would appreciate it!

Sorry to hear that some of us are having some pain and some insomnia. Keep your eyes on the prize girls! Not long now!

OP posts:
bunnymother · 06/03/2009 09:55

Morning ladies!

herbaceous - I am so very happy for you that you are pregnant - wonderful! And lovely to "see" you here. Re your "pushchair" choice, at least you could exchange it at any supermarket if it needs repairs, and you would be queen of the footpath - no one would tangle w you!

MrsMcJnr - am also for you about doctor with such a rude attitude. I read an interesting article recently about how a good bedside manner makes for a more effective doctor ie smoother Dr/patient relationships, increased recovery rates etc. Would you like me to send it to you, perhaps Naat could translate it and you could take it in to show him?

Sounds like many of us are going through energetic and tired phases (me too!) and also suffering aches and pains. Not fun!

You are right, Tee - eye on the prize, ladies, eye on the prize. We really are on the home stretch! Do you realise that in just over 3 months, we will start to post photos of our little darlings!!

LittleSara and June - I am also 5'4" and am normally a size 10, so don't think of myself as particularly big or heavy, but not a whippet IFKWIM. Although am v Humpty Dumpty as have big, high bump. So you can imagine my when the much bigger but also pregnant sales assistant at Boots tells me "we both have heavy frames, so we are just going to look big when we are pregnant." Right-oh, then! Sent me rushing to find more scones!

Am a bit worried about Juicy as haven't heard from her since her pains...

MrsMcJnr · 06/03/2009 09:57

Hey ladies FINALLY its stopped raining now and I can take DS to the park later to see his (and my) friends. Life always feels lighter when you have had a coffee with the girls doesn?t it? I?m feeling a bit overwhelmed by all that we have got going on here and I know it sounds sad and small minded but the fact that I can?t do any washing is really getting me down ? getting the washing done each day felt like an achievement, does that sound daft?? We don?t have any plans for the weekend but I think I?ll make some we all could do with a bit of cheering up

I think I have to admit to myself that I am truly getting tired again now, I feel exhausted today (though I was up between 2.30-3am with DS)

Thanks Naat might need some help

Lauraloo ? hope it was a better night?

Littlesarah ? you?ll look fab on 30 May hope you are feeling better and got that appointment sorted out.

June ? have a look at Isabella Oliver?s site for inspiration for the wedding, the clothes are gorgeous. I fell in love with the wrap dress for a Christening and got the exact colour and size I wanted on eBay for 25% of the original cost good luck with the car.

Help ? my pain is similar to yours, it starts at the top of my right buttock and runs down my leg, and sometimes it?s really sharp but mostly dull. I had exactly the same pain last time and they told me it was sciatica. It disappeared when I was about 34 weeks last time, I guess something to do with the weight of the uterus shifting, hoping it disappears again and that the same happens for you.

Tee ? will be thinking of you this afternoon; enjoy seeing your baby again

Juicy, StrawberrySam ? thinking of you ladies

Happy Friday ladies

lauraloo09 · 06/03/2009 10:00

tee good luck for the heart scan today, will be thinking of you x

helpive the pain I have been having has been an uncomfortable dull ache up my left leg, lower back, hip and around the buttock area

Well support pillow worked for a while last night, got around 6 hours sleep, even with terrible leg cramps again, which is a personal best lately ...Tell you what tho, my cat loves my new pillow, woke up at 3 to find him taking up the bottom half of the pillow No matter the pain I suffer right now tee is right we're nearly there and it will all be worth it in the end

MIL is buying my car seat today, decided to go with the maxi-cosi cabriofix that goes onto the Quinny Buzz frame rather than getting the britax first class from bith to 4 yrs car seat...i'm now hoping i've made the right decision regarding the car seat...why is choosing stuff so hard

I keep saying I will catch up and I will, but a big hello to everyone and hope you are all feeling good/better

Naat · 06/03/2009 10:19

Happy thoughts on the way, Tee!

Glad te pillow helped a bit, Lauraloo, 6hs is not bad at all

MrsMcJnr, yes, plan something fun for the weekend to cheer you up! Happy thoughts on the way as well

Might have some news about the flat thing today, as DH promised he'd make the call (keeps forgetting/snowed in work). I'll keep you posted.

Sunny day here! Hope you all have the same where you are

tibsy · 06/03/2009 10:51

morning all

littlesarah i'm joining you with the cold, yeuch. just when i thought i couldnt feel any more rubbish am sure you'll look absolutely beautiful for your ball am joining you little uns, 5foot2 and usually a 10, so baby bump is right up to my boobs and squashing into every available space already

june glad you feel brighter. i put some jeans on this a.m in case a friend popped round, thought it would make a change from my tracksuit bottoms

helpive hope that pain disappears soon and you get back some spring in your step

naat poor you. hope you manage to rest up today. hope you have some good news re. the flat

tee sending you lots of positive thoughts for this afternoon

bunnymother at sales assistant. heavy frame, my bum.... is there any other way you can get hold of juicy if youre worried??

mrsmc that sounds like lovely morning youve got planned. hope you think of something nice to do over the weekend

laura for your 6 hrs. i had a straight 5 hrs the other night, couldnt believe the difference it made...

hello to everyone else. dd and i off to make cakes

June2009 · 06/03/2009 10:53

mrsmcjr thanks I has a quick look at Isabella olivier, they have a sale on atm by the way.

Now I have to tackle the problem of what shoes to wear, I bought some nice heels (not too high not too low) last October but they were killing me after an hour and this wedding is likely to go on for hours.
I already said I'm not going to Church and was informed by dh that it would be a bit rude - together with a compromis of just showing up a the end of it.
I'm not really looking forward to it, lots of standing up followed by loads of sitting down and the pressure is really on to look fabulous. Argh.
Actually, I came up with the idea of booking a room in the hotel where the wedding is, bit pricey but it could really be worth it and a good compromise with dh so he can party.
Still tho, shoes...

LittleSarah · 06/03/2009 11:40

Thanks to everyone who said I'll look lovely at the ball! Ha ha, we shall see. Still I've never been to a ball so I had better get down there. No idea where to get a dress and don't have a lot of spare cash but plenty of time to save!

Naat - I don't what the thing is with partners, I think they want to see who comes and then if there is space we can invite people, but then for me and dh that is £110! (Can you tell I'm a bit strapped at the mo!)

MrsMcJnr - Got through to midwives today, sounds like their new system is a confusing nightmare! Anyway, book an appointment week 30 as that was the closest... I don't mind particularly to be honest as things are going fairly smoothly but still is always good to get checked. Well, maybe not for you poor lady!

Bunnymother - Charming sales assistant, lol. You never know really, I was small last time and am not that big now so if you have a frame anything like mine you might be petite to the end. I definitely have my fingers crossed I won't put on too much with this ball but they do say 'every pregnancy is different'!

tibsy - Cold is just awful, really heavy. Might see if I can duck out of work an hour early today, I'm pretty on top of things so it shouldn't be a problem. Hope you feel better soon.

tee - Good luck at your appointment today!

June2009 · 06/03/2009 12:32

I booked my next appointment with the mw this morning for next week and it's changed again.
Have any of you got just the one midwife since the beginning?

Not that I assumed there'd only be one all the way through to the birth but changing everytime means no one is looking at my notes, bloodtests results, scan results etc really thoroughly (that I can see).
They didn't measure or weigh me either last time.

The receptionist mentionned something about taking bloods next time which sounds right but didn't mention whether I need to fast or what.

Tee2072 · 06/03/2009 12:34

june there are 4 OBs and 5 midwives at my clinic. I rarely see the same one twice. But I do feel like they review my notes before I walk into the room.

And I have yet to be weighed (except at my booking in) and never measured.

You probably don't need to fast.

OP posts:
ermintrude13 · 06/03/2009 12:43

June I've only had my booking and my 16wk and it was the same MW for both but there's a team of about 6 so I could get anyone on 'the day'. I have handheld notes I take with me (the info does exist on computer too, but some is at the hospital and some at the GP so this holds all results together) which means that whoever I see can get up to date on things at once, which is a reassuring system (as long as I remember to bring them). They don't weigh or measure at mine after booking - unless it looks like you've put on a crazy amount or are a bit pale and skinny, in which case they'll want to know why.

The bloods will probably be a full blood count (to check you're not anaemic) and one for antibody screening if you're Rhesus Neg, as I am (hope all you Rhesus negative girls are going to get your shots of anti-D; all health authorities should offer them as a matter of course), and they'll check your wee for sugar. So if they haven't told you to fast you won't be having a Glucose Tolerance Test.

Naat · 06/03/2009 12:57

June, I also have an appointment, but it'll be on week 28 (today I'm on week 26).

I've seen the same MW here since the beginning (first appt, booking appt, 14wks, 22wks) except at one appt when she was "out" visiting patients.

She said on wk 28 they have to take a blood sample as well, but you don't have to fast unless they specifically tell you to (at least that's what they've done with me so far). They do check my wee EVERY time I go there but they haven't weigthed me since the booking appt. They do measure your belly from wk 22 onwards (that's what they told me last time I went) to see if "baby is growing well".

bigcar · 06/03/2009 13:14

Afternoon all

Tee, good thoughts on their way to you for this afternoon

June, not seen the same midwife twice and am not expecting to either Standard 28 week bloods don't require fasting and as everyone else have only been weighed at booking in appointment and don't expect to be weighed again unless there is a chance of another cs.

lauraloo, glad you got a little more sleep, makes such a difference!

MrsMcJnr, yay for a bit of sun It's actually not bad here today despite the awful forecast! Look at it this way, seeing that midwife again, good opportunity to practice your breathing techniques

Loooouise, bet you're looking forward to your scan next week! We haven't found out what we're having either (apart from a baby!!) but i'd be sooo tempted to try to look

tibsy, not chocolate cakes by any chance? I went right of chocolate a the beginning, just couldn't face even the smell (!!!?!?!?!?!) but am now finding I have the opposite problem

Sending sympathies to those with aches, pains and colds

Juicy, thinking of you xxx

tibsy · 06/03/2009 14:01

littlesarah hope you feel better soon too and keeping fingers x'd for an early finish for you today

june ive seen the same MW at my GP surgery so far. (a bit of a shame as i havent really clicked with her!! my last MW was fab, so i suppose shes got a lot to live up to ) dont recall fasting before bloods before. have had wee tested and weight checked every time so far. got appt next mon to get forms for that £190 grant and then will be back again the following fortnight for my 28 wk bloods.

naat i think youre due the day before me???? i'm june 13th

hi ermin

bigcar nope, plain cakes, but with very healthy blue icing on.....am hoping to have a surge of artificially enhanced energy this afternoon
