PinkArjuna · 19/04/2005 21:45

I'm due 12 of june but I have so many problems now I'll have to talk to my midwife about things. I am literally disabled with my bad back. I am thinking of electing a cesearean but I'll have to talk it over - the epidural might make my back even worse. I don't know to be honest, but all I do know is with another 8 weeks to go I don't think I can take it because my back is so bad. I'll have to see what the physio says I guess. I have a perminant limp now and it hurts when I am lying in bed I think a tori concert would be great though

mogwai · 19/04/2005 21:58

what, you aren't even going to say hello to me?

Boo hoo, off to nurse my crappy pelvis and dream of blue cheese.

Oh, and I hope you enjoy Tori Amos, it could be just the thing to take your mind off everything else. Good luck with your pregnancies, sorry for trying to "gatecrash" at such a late stage

JonahB · 19/04/2005 22:02

hi mogwai, glad you could join us. Is this your first then? I'll join you in the crappy pelvis gang. I got a fembrace today from the hospital. Felt slightly like an instrument of torture!!

Coop, thanks for the advice.

This whole temperature thing is sending me into a bit of a tizzy. I know (or hope) that common sense will kick in, but I can foresee endless sleepless nights with me and the DH standing over the moses basket, willing a sign to show us if our baby is too hot or too cold.

uwila · 19/04/2005 22:02

Oh man, I was going to try and catch up tonight. But as I have JUST completed the tesco shopping (online of course) and my self appointed bedtime was an h our ago, and you lot have been chatting away. Forget it, there is no hope.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

PS Less than a month until nannythug leaves.

mogwai · 19/04/2005 22:12

Hi Jonah

yup it's my first, and also my first sporting of the fem brace. Is yours velcro? The physio said it goes on under my knickers but I foresee a problem!

NOT a good look. Am going to report it to the "style" section of the Sunday Times

PinkArjuna · 19/04/2005 22:58

I think I will go to Tori Mogwai hello!

I just went out to put out my recycling and have found some stupid air head woman has dented my car who drives into parked cars? specially when they are doing a three point turn I mean come on She did leave the number but it isn't dented badly enough to warrent fixing it just really pisses me off. well at least she left her number - better than the last person who drove around my body coloured bumper and stratched the hell out of it and didn't leave anything. Oh well I'm done moaning for tonight - off to bed.

Uki · 20/04/2005 02:02

Hi Ladies

Hope you are all well? I am getting such strong kicks and roll overs i am convinced it must be a boy, apart from the fact that everyone else is also telling me it's a boy. Most of them think that because the baby is low.

Anyone else getting strong kicks?
Re: pelvic floor- my physiotherapist said to do them like 5 times a day, made me feel throughly guilty, I definately need reminding.

I'm so happy about sweetheart. Have already crashed their thread, they all seem lovely but unfortunately there are a few scares going on over there. Makes me feel but hopefully all will be well>

Cobweb · 20/04/2005 05:31

Morning,

Good news is we saw a house last night that we like and are making an offer today. Don't want to get excited as I am scared it will all fall through again

Charley the hospital bag ideas would be a massive help right now, any ideas you have I would love to read - thank you xxx

Teabelly, thanks for your advice on the private let, but apparantly my DH earns too much - where on earth they get these ideas from I will never know. Fingers crossed on the house now.

Hope all are well today and speak soon xxx

JonahB · 20/04/2005 07:29

Cobweb, good luck on the house. I'll keep lots and lots of fingers crossed for you.
Pink- sorry to hear about your car . Some people really ought not be given a driving license. How annoying for you.
Mogwai, mine is velcro, but it was fitted over my knickers. You'd need fairly big knickers on to fit it underneath . I think it may take some getting used to, to see if it does help. You are right though, it makes me feel especially attractive, if I wasnt feeling lumpy and awkward enough...

LipstickMum · 20/04/2005 09:20

Morning all

Welcome Mogwai, congratulations on your pregnancy, great to have you here!

Pink, go to Tori. Le's face it, when baby's here, it wil be a big effort to get out to something like that, make the most of your 'independence'!

I have someone plastering the front room. I'm so happy, I can't even begin to describe it I almost snogged him when he rang the bell this morning at 8am ok, not quite, but u know...!

Cobweb, good luck with the house purchase!! What's it like? Got a link to a website so we can all have a gander I love house hunting, as long as it's not for me, that's far too stressful.

I'm going to aqua-natal tonight and we'll do some pelvic floor exercises there. But, for those of you who are forgetting....

TIME FOR 5 PELVIC FLOOR EXERCISES AS YOU READ THIS!!!

Good job

I'm off to go and stare in wonderment at my plasterer

Morning all,

Mogwai - welcome - don't worry about joining us late...so do you know if bubs is a boy or girl?? We have a stats thread you could update with your info if you like...we're very nosy and like to know everyone's business!

Pink - as the others have mentioned the belly support belts I wondered if this might help you too?? It would hold some of the weight of the bump, hopefully relieving your back abit...a friend of mine had very bad SPD (PSD ??) and she swore by accupuncture more than the physio...not sure if this would help your muscle probs tho??

Jonah - I'm a cheapscate so didn't use the actual Grobag (TM) - just some cheap rip offs so couldn't say which is better I'm afraid. Re the change table thing. I just had a mat on the floor, and found that that was fine...esp as Coop?? says regarding easy access to the other bits and bobs you need to use whilst changing little bottoms.

Cobweb - ooohh fingers crossed for the house

Mrs W I think it's either Cobweb or Uwila first as they have sections to come...then I'm 28th May (but will prob be late, he he he) and then Lua/Welshie/Mirage/Berolina are all very early June...oohh it's getting very exciting, and very scary, and very exciting, and very scary....!!!

Lippy, yeah re the plastering - go on give him a kiss, make his day! and ok ok doing my pelvic floors right now!!!!

uwila · 20/04/2005 09:46

ooooo.... I hope I'm first. You'll all be so jealous.

Regarding changing table or mat on floor, I vote for the changing table every time. Yes, the great advantage is that it is the right height. This is especially true if you have a section. But, even if my belly is not sliced open, I thinkI wouldn't care much for bending down to the floor to change him/her.

MrsWednesday · 20/04/2005 10:00

I'm also clenching and squeezing after reading this...it's a necessity, I've got a bit of a cold and the coughing and sneezing is causing a few leaks. Glad I'm not the only one!

Hello and welcome Mogwai!

Glad to 'see' you back JonahB. I keep imagining you as the Junie with a bump as large as mine (judging by the comments you've been getting anyway). I'm sure mine is growing outwards rather than upwards or downwards - it's getting so big my maternity clothes don't cover it. How attractive I look...

On the changing mat thing - we are still using the one we put on the cot. I found it easier to change DS at this angle (i.e. lying vertically with feet towards me) than lying across me (if you see what I mean).

Pink, if things work out, I would like to be going to the League One play-off final in Cardiff at the end of May (depends on lots of things, mainly if my bloody football team manage to stop losing), so I can't see any problem with a Tori Amos concert. Will be lots less stressful than a football match I imagine!

Trib, whenever you want any Leeds info, just let me know. I could always meet up with you and take you on a guided tour of selected areas!

Charleypops, I think I just have a very small bladder! (the things we talk about on here...)

Lippy, great news about your plasterer! I hope you are going to have a grand opening ceremony when the work is finally finished. We could all come along and help you cut the ribbon

Cooperoo · 20/04/2005 11:04

Hello all
Firstly where is Lynny??????????? She hasn't posted for ages.
Secondly HELLO MOGWAI!!! Glad you could join us.
I am doing my pelvic floors now too. If I get into a routine of doing them while I am online maybe I will be doing enough. Actually I thought I was doing OK until this cough. I am terrified that I will leak after the baby now too. At least at the moment I can blame the bump.
Went to see midwife today. Was talking about the lack of gas and air (again!) and she said 'you will be fine, you will go to the hosp at 5 cm, 3 hours later you will push the baby out and six hours after you will go home.' I hope it will be that easy . She was very sympathetic about my cough though which is good. She thinks bump is a boy too and I genuinely got quite excited when she said that. This is fab for me as I have always thought I wanted another girl and wrestled with the guilt this made me feel. I think the excitment is taking over the fear now as I have been getting the clothes sorted etc and so kind of believe it is actually going to happen.
Pink - Go to Tori! I would.
I bought my flight tickets today. Yippee. Now we just have to hope the birth certificate and passport get sorted in time. This could be a prob but DH is in charge of this bit.
Lippy - Yay about your plasterer.
Sorry if I have missed anything important (and I am sure I have). Have to tidy house a bit as a lady is coming round for me to hand the secretary of the Toddler group over to. I have rostered my self on to open up at 36 and 38 weeks too and so I am hoping that she will do this for me as well.....Silly me. I opened the other day and was worn out. There were 12 other parents there and only one person helped me. Sigh.

teabelly · 20/04/2005 11:09

Coop - good grief and these were parents too! I'd have had to say something - mind you that's why I win lots of friends and influence people!!

Cooperoo · 20/04/2005 11:36

I know. They all know I am 32 weeks preg too and just watched me mopping the floor (my friend swept up) and I made all of them a cup of tea or coffee and washed up etc. I sat down for five mins out of the 2 hrs. Ho hum. I think that is the way with those sort of things though. It is always the same people doing things. We try to run an activity on a Friday (painting, crafts, singing, playdoh etc) just something simple but a bit more structured and there are only two or three of us who agree to do anything.....Everyone else brings their kids along though. My friend pointed out that I can sit there when the new baby is born and enjoy my tea brought to me and do nothing without any guilty feelings. It is not that I even mind doing it all, it is the fact it is the same few faces who do anything at all. I actually enjoy opening up etc really.

hi all

I've been off for sooo long not even gonna try and catch up!

I've been signed off by the doc to rest, so am trying to be good and not overdo the nesting.....

Dd has been v unwell, so been dealing with that. This is the first day I can live up to doc's orders! Work not too impressed I think but....hey.

Just been to the hospital for a relaxation/parent class. they were talking about the breathing exercises in labour - brought it all flooding b ack (arrgh)

berolina · 20/04/2005 13:17

Oh blimey, so many posts since yesterday pm...
Taught this morning and don't have to again until 4pm so am spending the time at home lying on the sofa (apart from now - digesting my lunch). (I live 10 mins walk from work and at the moment dh is driving me anyway! ) Personnel agreed to a lounger-type object, although they didn't have one handy (tut tut ), so we're off to get one Fri. The doc's put the wind up me a bit - am pretty paranoid at the moment about my waters breaking without me noticing it! Had (embarrassing bit) a slightly sweaty patch on my seat when I stood up from teaching this am and boy was I worried! Also had some twinges towards the bottom of the bump and was paranoidly thinking 'OMG are those contractions?' and having to shout at myself 'you'll KNOW if you get contractions, you silly girl!' Was at birth prep last night and MW thinks the lounger is a great idea, so I'm a bit reassured there. Charley - a wheelchair wouldn't be quite right because I need something in which my back is slightly reclined as well as feet being up.
Welcome Mogwai!
Pink - go to the concert, sounds like just the thing!
Redheadmum - hope you manage to get some good quality rest!
Lippy - congrats on the plastering!
Coop - grrrr at those oh-so-helpful people! I've got students falling over themselves to help me (and dh is being an absolute angel) so have had a more positive experience on that score.
Sorry if I've missed anything!

teabelly · 20/04/2005 13:22

Oh Red sorry your not feeling tip top - how long have you been signed off for? Make sure you try and rest, not easy with toddler I know.

Coop - yup - always the same people that help and the same people who don't - I agree with your friend, definitely take advantage yourself when little one arrives...

Cooperoo · 20/04/2005 14:09

KVG - You are so right. No-one makes much fuss the second time round I have found.
Red - Hope you are OK. Make sure you rest as much as poss.
Bero - Glad things seem more positive and hope you find a lovely recliner. There is a thread on pregnancy at the mo about waters going and apparently you will know! Either a gush or constant trickle. I can't help as I have NO idea when my waters went with dd. Vouch for the fact that you will know when it is a contraction though.
I have been having probs with my computer crashing and my dad and step mum are out for a week tomorrow eve so if I seem AWOL that is all it is. Right have to go do some work (Usborne books stuff). Take care all..
Am a bit concerned about Lynny....

Cooperoo · 20/04/2005 14:36

Meant to say thanks to Brighteyes for the Grobag link too.

teabelly · 20/04/2005 14:44

Coop - had a quick scout back and Lynny last posted over the weekend...hopefully she's off having a great time, and has no energy to post on here!

katzguk · 20/04/2005 14:47
