Congratulations ScubaGroover

Jelliebaby · 01/03/2009 19:11

Mos Ive been getting DP to inject me in my leg, it's very painful and both tops of my legs are bruised all over. I couldn't face doing it myself. Can't believe you've been injecting since 28 wks pregnant, I'm counting down till my last injection on 20th March.

DS I think the sling is a good idea, then I could get some jobs done whilst still holding her.

herbgarden · 01/03/2009 19:12

dinky - sorry about the colds - they're doing the rounds here too. It's miserable isn't it.....Maybe DS1 will have a good nights sleep and wake up a bit better tomorrow. DS was a real misery yesterday and I couldn't wait til 7 to come round....

jelliebaby - sorry you're having a hard time. I find DD quite grizzly when awake and wont' be put down on her gym really. She'll sit for a few minutes in her chair but then squawks and seems happiest being held...surprise surprise. She's just spent the last hour grizzling with me jiggling her around but I've finally put her in bed. I found DS pretty hard work the first 12 weeks but got much better at the end of that (a few lapses) - we also did the cranial which I think helped him. Having a toddler around is also pretty wearing.

MOS sorry your wound is sore too. I really didn't have this trouble last time - I hope we all get healed soon !

Have had lots of visitors today so am feeling pretty weary tonight. Might go to bed and read my book altho' I suspect I might not get very far.

lardybump · 01/03/2009 20:27

evening all. Sorry I have not been on but I have been doing a really good impresion of a dairy cow....

Ds is feeding really well now, we wake him every two hours during the day and feed on demand at night.... which is usually every hour althogh last night he went 3 hours and I actually slept.... yay......

I am really sore down below and have started bleeding again... Cant believe how painful it is still.....

dinkystinky · 01/03/2009 20:58

Congrats Scubagroover - hope all went well with the birth.

Dizzy - sorry the ctx have stalled; maybe some nipple twiddling might kickstart them again? Keeping everything crossed for you.

Lardy - glad your milk has come in!

Herb - am sooo hoping DS1 will be feeling better tomorrow; I absolutely adore him but he is such hard work when ill (especially as he is now big enough to have the "Man Flu" approach to having a cold...) and I simply dont have enough arms or hours in the day to deal with him being clingy, his snot trails and cries of "bogey bogey" and DS2 breastfeeding and needing winding at the same time.

My best friend came over tonight to see DS2 (who vommed on her but she was v gracious about it ) and brought over the most delicious smelling Laura Mercier bath stuff for me and DH - think will hold off until after 6 week check (to make sure stitches all healed down below) before using it but cant wait (assuming DH doesnt use it all before then); it smells good enough to eat!
Think am finally nesting - as we've decided to put building work on hold for a year or so, we have a builder coming to do various tidy up/critical jobs around the outside and inside of the house starting at the end of this week, spent an hour in Homebase getting stuff to sort out our bathroom (shelves, mirrors etc) and sorting out getting mirrors and pictures sorted for the house and DS1's bedroom at long last... Suspect its because I'm mostly housebound until my stitches have fully healed that am having to channel my energy somehow...

swampster · 01/03/2009 20:59

MOS you are probably best off taking your Clexane and breastfeeding. Take a look at this from Kellymom and the database it links to says this about Heparin (which, I believe, is what Clexane is)

Heparin
CASRN: 9005-49-6

Summary of Use during Lactation:
Although heparin itself has not been studied, low molecular weight heparins (e.g., dalteparin, enoxaparin) are not excreted into breastmilk in clinically relevant amounts. Because heparin has an even higher molecular weight of 3000 to 30,000 daltons, it would not be expected to be absorbed from breastmilk by the infant. No special precautions are required.

Drug Levels:
Maternal Levels. Although it is frequently stated that heparin does not pass into breastmilk because of its high molecular weight, no studies have measured heparin levels or activity in human milk. However, since the low molecular weight heparin enoxaparin is not found in milk, it is unlikely that the larger heparin molecule passes into milk. Additionally, any heparin in milk would not be absorbed from the infant's gastrointestinal tract.

Questionkid · 01/03/2009 21:29

MOS & Herb - sounds like we're all having the same probs with c-section wounds. I saw the MW today who said, despite the fact that the GP told me on monday that all was fine with mine, that she's not happy with it, that it's weeping and she's certain I've got an infection. So yet again I have to go back to the GP tomorrow. I'm going to try and see a different GP to see if that helps. I wasn't keen on the one I saw on Monday, he started preaching to me about losing weight - Alex was 2 weeks old at the time, give me a chance!! I'm fed up with being sore and worrying about whether everything's ok with it, so I'm really hoping I'll be put on AB's and hopefully get it sorted once and for all.

My DH has been working nights all this weekeng so Alex and I have had plenty of time to get to know each other even better over night time feeds. He's been really good actually, waking every 4 hours, feeding, a few burps and then straight back to sleep for another 4 hours. I don't think I'm going to be so lucky tonight, I've just got a feeling. It's been good for me to see that I can cope on my own. I also took him out in the car on my own for the first time, including going up to the hospital, over to a friend's for tea and then on to Sainsbury's. I was really proud of myself!

Anyway, I'm now in bed and will probably try and get a bit of sleep before Alex demands his next feed.

Cocodrillo · 01/03/2009 22:16

Another oozing CS wound here. Also very tender to the touch. Lovely, lovely. Why can't anything be straightforward?

Calico1 · 01/03/2009 22:20

QK, MOS and Herbme too with the c-section wound probs.....all was fine until a couple of days ago and now I'm all sore and wound looks puffy. MW is coming back on Tues to check but it's pretty painful.

Does anyone else have a twitchy baby? When Lilian is in deep sleep (not often ) her hands and feet twitch - like a dog dreaming of running after a rabbit! My sister who is a pediatric nurse was really worried about it this afternoon but I remember DS's hands used to shake when he was dropping off to sleep as a newborn.....anyone else seen this?

mumoverseas · 02/03/2009 06:02

morning all

congratulations scubagroover, lovely name

dinky sorry your DS has the cold too, its so awful isn't it when they are full of cold. Can't believe DS and DD have it when its so warm here

swampy thank you so much for that information, you know EVERYTHING, who needs doctors!

jelliebaby, well done your DH. I suggested to my DH at the start that maybe he could inject me and I just got a look of horror that I assume was a no!

herby, Calico, QK, coco and all the other weepie CS girls, hope we all get better soon. Its odd as this is my third (AND LAST!) CS and I never had this problem before.

Just off to medical centre with fingers crossed that Harrison has put on weight. Hope it will be quick as looking out window looks like we have a storm coming in. weird weather at the moment out here. we had yellow rain yesterday!

mumoverseas · 02/03/2009 06:17

bugger
was all organised this morning. Got DS and DD up, washed, dressed and fed (including making scrambled eggs for DD) then got them loaded into the double bugger to take to the medical centre for 9.30am and then noticed that my appointment was at 10.30am, not 9.30am. aagghh!

KT1983 · 02/03/2009 07:04

Just a quick Hello to you all,
Im going to my first mother & baby group today @ 10am. Its a new paretns group, they are doing belly dancing!! Hoping to meet some people in the area, really need a friend I can just have a coffe with once or twice a week. Found last week hard on my own.

Anyway, hope everyone is well & your all getting some small amount of decent sleep

Need to shower before Poppy wakes up for MORE food - She is definatly having a two week growth spurt.

Have a good day everyone xx

mumoverseas · 02/03/2009 08:23

Hi KT, well done you for going along this morning, hope you make some nice friends there. Belly dancing sounds interesting, don't think I'd be brave(stupid) enough to get my belly out on show.

Just back from medical centre and little man has finally put on weight he is now 3.18k (still a little less than his birth weight) but better than on Saturday when he was 3.10k. At least we are going in the right direction now.

VERY windy here now. Just got an email from my DS saying that the new sixth form building at his school which opened in September has been closed as the wind blew the roof in/off! Loads of garden furniture flying around on my walk back, glad I'm back now and avoided being hit by sun loungers and marquees!

Cocodrillo · 02/03/2009 09:00

LOL at double bugger, MOS. Freudian slip?

Cocodrillo · 02/03/2009 09:01

thanks for feeding advice PT and Dinky.

May try nipple shields next, tho again midwife advised against. think i will pick and choose which of her advice to follow.

herbgarden · 02/03/2009 09:31

KT- good luck at the M&B group...remember though that even if you don't enjoy it first time persevere as it is really nice to have somewhere to go and an adult to natter with. A couple of the people in my ante natal group who I wasn't sure about are the people I like the most now.

I found the first few weeks with DS lonely - it's different now I have a toddler and DD as life continues as it was but once you start to get the hang of it, the weeks will start to fly by.

Let us know how it went later on!

2 weeks is a classic growth spurt time too.

laidbackinengland · 02/03/2009 10:01

KT hope you find someone you click with at your mother and baby group. Remember if people seem standoffish it often means they are shy. I remember thinking that one of my friends was very dismissive and haughty when I first met her (at the park) - but actually she just really struggles to talk to people (unless she has had a couple of glasses of wine). wonders if a mother and baby group that serves wine is a great idea

Sorry to hear about all those with weepy wounds. I wonder if having other young toddlers gives you a chance to properly rest and heal ? Very difficult to rest though with rabid children running around.

All quiet here now with DS1 and DS2 at school. Have just put DS3 down for a sleep and Mabel is still asleep in her pram from walking to school I am going to take her to the HV on Thurs for the first time to be weighed. MOS - great that Harrison has started putting on weight.

Calico - DS1 used to twitch in his sleep - I thought that he was dreaming.

laidbackinengland · 02/03/2009 10:02

oops, that wasn't meant to come up as a link

dinkystinky · 02/03/2009 10:22

MoS - great that Harrison is putting on weight; fantastic news! Though the weather out there sounds freaky - hope you didnt have too much damage to your stuff due that storm. And yellow rain?? Sounds like the apocalypse may be coming Most amused at your uber over-efficiency re medical appointment - is the kind of thing I end up doing with baby brain!

QK - well done you on dealing so well with Alex and getting out and about.

KT - hope you have a good time today at your group; am sure there will be plenty of people in the same situation as you and babies are brilliant icebreakers!

Calico - Danny has twitchy episodes too; the swaddling helps calm it down though.

All those C-sec ladies - hope those weepy wounds heal soon. Sounds really painful!

We're off to send off Danny's passport application in this morning - he looks so dinky in his passport photo (DS1 was about 3 months when we did his passport so has a round pumpkin face in his passport; Danny still has that little old man face thing going on!) its making me all broody again. Fortunately the sleep deprived nights are counteracting that nicely (Danny is sleeping well - went down at 10, feeding between 1.30 and 2.30 and then again at 6 - but after long periods of silence then goes for ages sounding like a percolator which keeps waking me up!)

Laidback - sounds very civilised in the laidback household this morning.

Pempe · 02/03/2009 10:48

wow just when i thought harry was getting into a bit of a three-hourly routine thing, we have an absolutely sleepless night. From 11.30 til 6 this morning, he fed, burped, had his nappy changed and grumbled. No sleep. Luckily he is now napping, but I for some reason am wide awake (adrenaline??). My nipples have taken a but of a pounding with the constant feeding - thank god for lansinoh.

MOS we get the yellow rain out here too - they say its desert dust being brought over by a certain african wind. not sure if that's true, but it sounds quite impressive.

ooh I have a question - Harry is having urine tests done tomorrow and I have been asked to take a sample.....how the hell do you get a urine sample from a 4 week old baby? Anyone had to do this before? Can't they just...you know....squeeze the nappy out or something?

dinkystinky · 02/03/2009 11:01

Pempe - go have a quick doze hon, you're running on adrenaline which will wear off soon. If you dont manage a nap, I definitely recommend eating little and often (my career as a corporate lawyer with lots of all nighters has prepared me well for sleep deprivation of motherhood) and actually laying off the caffeine as will make your energy slumps tonnes worse (an apple or apple juice is a better pick me up if you need it for some reason). Hmm, never heard of a urine sample for a baby!Good luck getting a sample out of him!

mumoverseas · 02/03/2009 12:42

coco that will be the sleep deprivation then! mind you, I was saying 'bugger, bugger' a lot this morning when trying to get organised!

laidback, damm it, was hoping you'd found a load of mums and tots with bars in. Bloody good idea though Might start one up here in Saudi with the home brew my son's chemistry teacher makes.

dinky we do have crazy weather here. Sometimes in a week it can be 10 degrees one day and 30 the next. Luckily none of our stuff was damaged this time but once we came back from holiday and our garden hammock was upside down outside our garden. DS just back from school and laughing about the sixth form building. Apparently when the storm started he and his friend were joking about it falling down and 5 mins later there was a tanoy announcement saying it was closed until further notice. Shouldn't laugh but....
broody already? crazy woman

Pempe we get orange rain as well. Think it is down to pollution as Riyadh is pretty dirty. I had to scrub my face when I got in from my walk as I had a layer of sand/dust/pollution stuck to my suncream.
Ref sample, does Harry not sometimes wee when you are changing his nappy? Sometimes when I first open his nappy Harrison does a little wee so maybe you could have your OH on standby with a specimen jar at the next nappy change? Or sit with him on your lap (Harry that is, not your OH) with his willy dangling in a jar?
Hope everything is ok with him and his test results.

SomeMightSay · 02/03/2009 12:56

You ladies have been chatty!
Baby did the biggest poop yesterday so all's well again I hope. Thanx for the water tip, he wouldn't take any though.
herb hope you're feeling a bit better and the scar/bug is improving.
Jelliebaby Ds1 was like that, if he wasn't sleeping, he was screaming ALL the time, it was horrible. It was just non-stop from the moment he was born. It does pass though and get alot easier, so try not to get too down about it, it won't last forever. I felt really guilty, like it was my fault I had a baby that cried all the time, I hated taking him anywhere as I was really embarassed and thought I must be the worst mum ever 3 weeks in! I put ds1's crying down to colic mainly, it was hard to tell because he cried all day, so there wasn't a pattern but he squirmed around alot, knees pulled right up into his chest, red straining face, and their just the things I can remember 19 months on. I tried moving his legs in a cycle motion, rubbing his tummy in a locwise direction, holding him upright for long periods especially after a feed. He also seemed to prefer being held if I was standing up instead of sitting down (freak!) but I think they all helped a little bit.
Hope you're feeling ok with it, it is tough.
Dinky You're poor ds and all these colds. Poor little love, hope he's better soon and it doesn't go on too long.
Calico Both of mine were/are sleep twitchers, sometimes ds2 does it so bad he looks like he's gonna take off! I asked mw when we were still in hosp, she said they all do it and it's not a problem
KT Hope mother and baby group went well and there was at least one other nice person there for you to be-friend.

Been to baby clinic to get Luke's hearing test done, all fine. Also got them both weighed. Ds1 is still on 98th centile (fatty!) and Luke is on 50th, so both doing really well.
Had a lovely day with my friends and their dd's yesterday. One lo is 6 and the other is an amazingly well behaved 2 year old, where my 19mo boy is a screecher and just does not want to sit in pizza hut for 3 hours! He was really tired to so taking that into account he wasn't too bad.
Just had lunch and have put ds1 down for a nap, but I can hear him talking to himself....so not sure if he will sleep but he is soooo tired!
Going to clinic this afternoon, the cmw's have decided they are finally going to discharge me.
I'm not talking to dp at the moment. He is such a tosser (or I am masively hormonal!) Because I was out with my friends, I didn't get to Tescos before it closed so we had no bread, no pop or juice, nothing for dinner (emergency stash of fish fingers again), but no big dealk really. I said after ds1's bath that I was gonna go to the garage to get some pepsi and a bar of chocolate, but because it was the one at tescos I didn't know if it'd be open so he got all huffy and said he'd eat his dinner and drive to another one if I needed pepsi that badly. So I told him to fuck off and that I didn't need him to do me any god damn favours while he's throwing that attitude around. I then fell asleep on sofa, he came to give me a kiss on the cheek before he left for work so I called him a wanker
He got in this morning and asked for his bank card so he could go to the shop for bread so I could have some toast, so I repeated everything from last night, "don't do me any fing favours ahole"
Oh well.

SomeMightSay · 02/03/2009 12:56

Just realised I swore in one half of my post and then *'d the rest out. Why did I do that?

PinkTulips · 02/03/2009 13:30

pempe, in the hospital they put a litle pee bag over babies bits in the nappy and when they change the nappy next time voila... pee sample in a bag. you could try a diy version with a small plastic bag of some sesdription? although if harry is anything like aaron if you sinply take his nappy off and wait longer than 10 seconds befor egetting another on him he'll pee so just be hovering with a cup to catch it and you're sorted.

cocodrillo... always best to view PHN/HV advise the same way you would MIL advice... smile and nod while it's being given, then ignore

mos.... delighted harrison is gaining weight.... well done you for braving the mad weather with 2 smalls in a double buggy and a sore scar.

sms..... hate to say it sweetie but sounds like your poor dp has been attacked by your hormones!

having a highly productive day here... 2 runs to the dump done, been to the shop, ordered oil, aired out boiler, folded loads of washing, run the machine a couple of times and the place actually looks cleaner than it usually does. waiting for PHN to call now and the man is coming to fit my blinds at 3/4 this afternoon [yippee!]
