littleboysblue · 21/02/2009 08:18

Oh lardy, poor you. Hopefully you'll gets tens sorted and it'll all go smoothly from there, goodluck

DizzyBrummie · 21/02/2009 08:23

Good luck lardy and catstar!

mumoverseas · 21/02/2009 08:57

morning all,
mamagoose you poor thing, what a terrible time you have had. So glad your DH was able to be with you and help with your LO. Hope you start to feel better very soon xxx

LBB, whats a routine? still haven't got one with DD aged 2.5!

lardy, what a terrible time you've had too. Hope you managed a bit of rest and that LO comes soon xxx

catstar good luck to you too xxx

herby, beer, I'd kill for a glass of chablis

had a really bad night last night. DD2 still has her terrible cough and the medicine we got hasn't even touched it and now DS2 has it poor little thing. He was coughing so much that he was sick 4 times last night which wasn't much fun and I ended up sitting up with him all night. DH got up for work at 6.15am and I dozed off at around 7.15am then DD2 woke up at 8am. We really do need a 'i'm completely buggered emotion'!

herbgarden · 21/02/2009 12:02

Good luck lardy and catstar....looking forward to good news later.

Sorry you've had a bad night MOS....we do need more emoticons don't we?! I seem to have one bad day and one good.

Today feels like spring is in the air so I'm in a positive mood !

lbb- I have a loose routine but I think it's possibly slightly easier when you aren't breastfeeding and you can see how much food you've forced into offered them.....

We started on a 3 hourly feeding when we got home(I think you are 3/4 hours) and we now roughly go, feed about 7/7.30 after DS wakes up, awake about an hour to an hour and a quarter (I confess that I "encourage" this as the little pickle would sleep all day and party all night otherwise), so I put her on babygym, put her in her chair to watch her DS charging round the place, do the chores and cart the chair round for her to watch.....you know. Then put her in bed out of the way to sleep for a couple of hours, feed again and so on. We always do a dream feed around 10pmish (which DH does - that's his only job - although she often wants it earlier and DH ends up cuddling her on the sofa for an hour or so !) and this roughly leads from us putting her to bed at 6.30pm so that I can have at least a bit of me and DS time reading some stories before he goes down at 7pm. I feed her some of her night time bottle whilst DS is having tea at about 5.15, then let him have telly while I start the marathon winding session, then let DS have his bath and dunk her in with him - get her dressed whilst he gets time on his own in there, cart them all down and then top her up with some more milk whilst he has a bit more telly. Pop her down, read him stories, put him down....tra la !.....

Interdispersed with this is her yelling, him yelling, me shouting, her puking, her screaming with wind pain, her screaming from her bed and so on so.....oh the joy of it.

I've just found that she naturally has started waking from her naps looking for a feed about 3 hours after the last one....DS was like this too.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll remember what you did last time but in case you were vaguely interested in my control freak ways then that's what I'm doing....I remember that ds "woke up" about 6 weeks and was a nightmare for about 4/5 weeks when he'd scream all the time, wouldn't sleep and so on so for now, I'm making the most of it ! It's weird getting used to another child when you're so used to the ways of your first....I just remember hours spent wandering the streets with him in that flipping buggy when all I wanted was a nap !

Right, now I've bored you all to tears I'm off to make lunch !.
Byee

swollenandbloodyfedupmama · 21/02/2009 12:23

name change to reflect the emoticon I really need!!!

MamaGoose · 21/02/2009 13:24

Good luck lardy and catstar. littleboyblue if your bleedng comes back, then get thee to a doctor! Mine came back twice. Have they scanned you to see what's going on in your womb just in case?

Thanks for lovely messages.

PinkTulips · 21/02/2009 14:03

mamagoose

glad all is well now and you're back home but fucking hell!!! you must have been petrified. {{{hugs}}} and hope you're feeling alot better now.

good luck lardy, looking forward to your announcement

lbb.... i had a routine with dd and it made life a living hell so with both the boys i've just had them downstairs with me til i go to bed and demand feed curled up on the couch watching crappy tv with dp ferrying me cups of tea..... much more enjoyable with ds1 i started plopping him in his crib upstairs after he fell asleep once he got to the stage where he'd sleep for a good stretch.... think it was around 3 months but not certain

aaron had his first cranky night last night... think he was windy poor thing but i'm shattered now.

dinkystinky · 21/02/2009 14:05

Afternoon all. Catstar and Lardy - go girls! I hope all goes smoothly for you guys with your births today... and that you got your tens machine that works Lardy. Cant believe the midwife who put fear of god into you Lardy - as you had so much water, it definitely wasnt all baby in there, so put her comments out your mind if you can and just let your body do its thing.

MamaGoose - god, that sounds awful. Am glad you're home safe and sound now - but try and take it really easy if you can (bedrest is best) and drink lots of OJ (vit c helps with iron absorption) while trying to get your iron levels back up. Sending you huge hugs.

MoS and Laidback - sounds like you both need house of lurgy plaques made up! Sending you both hugs too and shots of adrenaline to help you get through the day...

LBB - DH goes back to work tomorrow; has been nice having him around (particularly as have been able to give him jobs that he'd normally leave for me to do ) but I know what you mean about returning to normality too...

Pinkbabybump congrats on your baby. Spotty - missing you lots on here; hope you're ok and internet connection is restored soon!

Had a nice evening of sushi (first in over 9 months) DVD and a glass of wine last night (definitely subscribe to imbibing a small amount of alcohol despite BF school of thought) and then spent half last night up with DS2 - suspect he wasnt a huge fan of the fishy milk.... Waiting for a grocery delivery to come this afternoon and then DS2 and I will be retiring to bed for an afternoon nap I think until the doting grandparents arrive...

ommmwardandupward · 21/02/2009 14:32

How are you doign lardy??? I hope the babe span happily around to a sensible position on their way out!

catstar · 21/02/2009 15:25

Thanks Ladies - though rather annoyingly contractions have not intensified or got any more regular so I feel a bit in limbo. The ones I'm having are painful (prompted a few questions to DH at the park this morning from amused mummies!!!) and I think the TENS machine's doing its job, but still, I wish he'd hurry up!!

Lardy - hope you got your TENS machine sorted out in time and have managed to get a bit of sleep.

Congratulations Pinkbabybump!

Right, off for a walk now to try to get things shifting!

littleboysblue · 21/02/2009 16:47

herb Thank you so much for sharing a typical day there. It sounds pretty much the same as ours, apart from I'm not doing chores .
Tbph, our timings for feeds etc are mostly running on ds1 and what time he gets up. Baby seems quite happy to sleep 5+ hours after feed at 3am! so I am waking him when ds1 screams to get up which can be anything between 6 and 8:30. I'm feeding now 4 hourly but think he may have hit a growth spurt as the past 2 days it's been more like 3-3.5hrs.
Anyway, I didn't bath ds1 every night until we weaned, so will do same with this one I think, maybe twice a week, but was thinking, take baby into bedroom at 6/6:30 maybe quick top and tail wash or baby massage, little hugs with a quick story, milk feed and to bed, so all done and dusted hopefully by 7:30 by which time ds1 is just going to bed. I've told dp that we will take it in turns, he does ds1 one night and baby the next iyswim so we both get time alone with each of them.
That sounds ok doesn't it? Gonna start tomight, baby has really bad dry skin so am taking him to bedroom at 6:30 to coat him in olive oil, will feed him in there and put him in basket and hpefully have a nice chilled evening with dp and a glass of wine.

Is it really awful that ds2 is now nearly 3 weeks old and still hasn't had a bath? tomorrow.

MamaGoose I had a scan last friday and they said there was some fluid in there but that was normal for 9 days post delivery. There's been light on and off blood loss but am seeing midwife on monday when I'll be 20 days post and they'd expect uterus to be back to normal size so I will see what they say then. If they start messing about (as they do) and say give it another week or something, I'll go to gp or phone the hospital back....
PT Hope Aaron has a better night tonight.
I need to have a routine, I know it won't be quite as strict as the one I had for ds1 but I need it for my own sanity iykwim. I need to know what's happening and when (or close to) or else I think I'd have a breakdown!

I'm having a glass of wine tonight.

littleboysblue · 21/02/2009 16:48

sorry! Not sure what happened there! (well I obviously hit 'post message' twice didn't I?)

herbgarden · 21/02/2009 17:51

lbb I need it too for my sanity....but I do subscribe to the flexible, reasonable and have a life routine. DS was carted here there and everywhere - this time it'll be nice for ds to know when he can have a bit of time just with me.....and I suspect we might do our "outings" a bit further away on my days when I have just DD...

I'd try DS2 with the putting down at 6.30 and see what he does even if you get a couple of hours and then he wakes up and won't settle at least you might have time to put DS1 down, have dinner and then even if you're jiggling DS2 around whilst you watch telly, it doesn't matter really does it....we quite often end up bringing DD down but at least we (or rather DH) is just sitting there and he quite likes a cuddle ....til he goes up to bed

thehouseofmirth · 21/02/2009 18:37

MarkStretch · 21/02/2009 18:38

I was brave today. DH took DS out for 2 hours. My boobs were killing me.

Tonight I am going to the pub at the end of the road for a drink with my work mates.

Get me, I almost have a life!

dinkystinky · 21/02/2009 20:15

Oh Markstretch (at the drinks, not the exploding boobs.

THOM welcome home. Lovely names for DS2 too. Have responded on facebook to your birth story, but well done you!

littleboysblue · 21/02/2009 20:36

herb Maybe you're right there. I was very strict about my routine with ds1. I took him upstairs at 6:30 everynight for a bath or top and tail wash (only bathed twice a week), dressed for bed, read a story, milk feed, then into bed. I sat with him for a while and went back downstairs. I had a very firm rule, once he was upstairs, he was not to come out of the bedroom until he was washed and dressed the following morning. If he was unsettled, I sat in the bedroom with him, he never came back downstairs, and the same stands now, unless he wakes when I'm in the middle of a feed or something...
At the moment, ds1 gets in the bath at 7, is out by 20/half past, dressed for bed, then he has a yoghurt and once you drop the spoon in the tub, he's down off the sofa, turning round in a big circle waving and saying bye-bye, goes over to baby and kisses him (so sweet!) and runs oh is bedroom, gripping the cot bars until you get there to put him in.
I've def shot myself in the foot with him as it'll take him alot longer to settle if any of this is different, i.e. trying to get him to stay up for a bit after bath, he just won't have it and will scream bloody murder!

MS Hope you have a great night down the pub tonight, so jealous! Think I'd only manage 2 though. (ok, that's a lie, I'd stay until I was soo drunk I couldn't see )

ranirani · 21/02/2009 21:24

hi everyone!
seems like I am in labour! so excited, cant even explain it.
Currently 40+8, am booked for induction on Tuesday, but for the last 2 days have been having irreguklar contractions. But for the last 2 hours they are regulare, getting stronger and were 8, then 7 and now 6 minutes apart!

MrsY · 21/02/2009 21:37

Hurrah! Good luck, rani!

Catstar and lardy, hope all is well - at silly woman in Boots for not giving you the right stuff.

Madam is still windy and grizzly at night, and only seems to sleep if lying on one of ou chests. We really need to get the knack of sorting this before John goes back to work. I'm hoping tonight will be a bit easier .

Night night all xxx

littleboysblue · 22/02/2009 09:16

Morning.
rani Goodluck, glad you prob won't need to be induced, it really was not nice
MrsY I hope Merry had a better night and settled for you.
If she is settling and is at least calm whilst lying on someone's chest, then obviously carry on doing it, it's early days anyway, but I would say (from experience) be careful how long you do that for or she'll always need one of you to settle her and you'll end up holding her for entire naps! Maybe in a week or so try to put her down just before she falls asleep, keep your hand on her somewhere, i.e. belly, head whatever her comfort spot is and gently rub/pat whilst shusshing or talking to her and gradually reduce the time.
IMHO, the best thing we can do for our children (and ourselves) is teach them how to settle on their own.
(I've only said that because you said you wanted to get it sorted before John goes back to work, not telling you what to do or anything, and although ds1 was great at settling on his own at night, the day time naps were a nightmare, I'd have to rock him and if I tried to put him down he was awake screaming so I sat there 2 to 3 times a day, more in these early days, just holding him for hours! never got anything else done for 6 months. NIghtmare, not making that mistake again )

I had an awful night last night, fed Luke at about 10:30, went to bed at 11:30ish, he settled perfectly (he is now sleeping on his side) but I couldn't sleep despite being the most tired I think I have ever been. Luke woke at 1:30 and I couldn't settle him, so I fed him took an age for the wind to come up, the screaming woke ds1 so put Luke down and popped in to ds, then back to Luke for a few mins, then back to ds1 (yes I did try to take Luke with me but that only leaves me one hand to lay ds1 down again and that doesn't work), so back and forth for half hour with them, Luke settled at about 3:30, he woke again at 5, so fed again, settled at 6:30 and ds1 called to get up at 7:30.
Ashley slept through the whole lot, arsehole. But Jacob has now gone in bedroom to pull all files off of the table in there and I'm going to leave him to it!

Hope everyone else ok today.

Calico1 · 22/02/2009 10:15

morning all

Got back from hospital yesterday. We have a little girl!
Lilian Helena - 7lb 4oz
Born by c-section on Thurs morning. All went well and elective section was 100 times better than my 'normal' delivery with DS.

Trying to get feeding established but finding it hard - so v tired!

Unfortunately DS is ill with a chest infection and was up all night too ,so DH has just gone back to the hosp with him....

Haven't had time to look through the last few days posts, but hope everyone is well.

littlesez · 22/02/2009 10:22

hi ladies, Good luck Rani hope its today for you and good vibes to anyone else in labour x

I've been having irregular contractions since middle of the night Friday. Now about 8/9 mins apart. NOt sure what to do because i haven't been able to sleep much (about 2 hrs) so wondering whether to chill out or walk around and try to get things going more?

Got tens on which is pretty good. She really doesn't seem like she wants to come out! The other thing is I keep thinking what if this isn't really it? have I imagined it! No show, no waters, no bowel movements. Want to have a bath but yesterday that seemed to stop things.

Well can't wait to join in the chat about babies, hope its not too long! xx
