chilledmama · 17/02/2009 11:43

Doh...x-post big time!!

dinkystinky · 17/02/2009 11:59

Congrats KazzaL on the arrival of little Benjamin - I think her ensuite bathroom was due to be finished today so sounds like it was perfectly timed!

QK - it does get SO much easier, I promise. At around 6 weeks, when your little man starts smiling at you, these early weeks will turn into a distant memory. Just make sure you're resting up lots (I know its hard to sleep given what you've all been through - but getting lots of sleep/resting in front of the tv in is what you need now), drinking lots and eating lots little and often to keep your energy levels up (as life always seems harsher when you have low blood sugar levels I find) and also make sure you've got family or friends coming to help you out for a bit after your DH goes back to work.. I hope the midwife does give you number for the breastfeeding counsellor - MrsY is right in recommending the la leche league too and you can try the kellymom website that others have recommended on here for tips on increasing milk production. Find out about local breastfeeding support groups - its amazing what a difference they can make in giving you confidence in what you're doing (feeding-wise and otherwise).

MrsY - glad to hear you're getting out and about. I've yet to venture outside the house (quite enjoying chilling out at home with my little men) - mind you am now on the second day of waiting in for a CMW to come see us so its not like I can venture outside at the moment anyway...

Chilled - hope you got some sleep last night. MoS - Daniel has a bit of a cold too; baby sneezes are very cute, but maybe not so much in the early hours of the morning... I'm finding he's bobbing on and off much more for his feeds - so I'm just letting him do what he thinks he needs to do at the moment...

MarkStretch · 17/02/2009 12:04

Congrats everyone on the new babies!

Has anyone seen Spotty? Is she off having a baby?!

littlesez · 17/02/2009 12:07

Wow more babies, I'm moving up that list now!
mrsy my Bp is low so must be some one else thanks for concern though xx

Neeerly3 · 17/02/2009 12:18

going swimming today girlies in the vain hope it starts something off! Pain has kicked in earlier today, normally I get up and all is fine til early afternoon, but started to have regular aches almost as soon as I got up (admittedly that wasn't til 11am, but still!) Have had a few good bowel clear outs too, so even if baby not ready, my body seems to be!

Dreading how I will look in my swimming cossie......will waddle as fast as I can into pool and stay below water line for as long as poss i think!

MrsY · 17/02/2009 13:02

Just found out that the silly midwife didn't read the scales properly, so Merry was 7lb 7oz, not 0.7oz! Doh! Which means she didn't put on an oz in 5 days (as I suspected) so will update the list again !

chilledmama · 17/02/2009 13:05

thanks dinky but no, not really...i have reduced myself to half awake dreams about labour and cnxs...yes thats right, i'm actually dreaming about cxns

dinkystinky · 17/02/2009 13:53

Oh Chilled, that doesnt sound good! Hopefully at least the ctx in your dreams are nice and productive and result in a v quick delivery

fruitstick · 17/02/2009 14:11

Last night I dreamt I forgot to feed the baby

olivo · 17/02/2009 15:19

sorry to crash in, just wanted to say congratulation to Pink Tulips and hope all is well.

chilledmama · 17/02/2009 15:47

Even the cxns in my dreams seem to peter out to nothing...

KT1983 · 17/02/2009 15:49

Congratulations KazzaL & Pluto Huge Well Done to you both
Hope everything is going well for you both & your new little arrivals.

Poppy & I are doing well at the moment, she is having regular 4 hourly feeds & drinks about 2-3oz. Which the midwife said was quite huge?
She is content, so as long as she is happy so am I.

We went out for a short walk yesterday in her pram - Didnt lift an eyelid! I just want to take her everywhere to show her off
DP is completely in love with her - I love seeing them together.

just wanted to ask about aches & pains down below...
I did have to have a few stitches as they cut me for the forceps delivery.
Apparently not alot of stitches & will just disolve, but I wanted to know how long I will feel uncomfortable for? My mum mentioned trying a salt bath?
Ive been taking Arnica Tablets & Vit E too, so hoping that might help.
Im just finding it a stugle to walk very far

lardybump · 17/02/2009 15:51

I can not sleep at the moment either and I really am so tired.... Ended up on the sofa last night as I kept tossing and turning so just got up and watched TV... Also having hot flushes as well....

america · 17/02/2009 15:55

A quick note to say that Leo was born on Sunday. We are shuffled but thrilled. 3.3kg and 52cm. Will be back to you with more time once I get some sense into this BF thing again...

MrsY · 17/02/2009 16:12

KT - I had 24 stiches, and by day 7 (a whole week) things are pretty much normal. Please don't try a salt bath - you need about a tonne of salt and it stings like buggery. Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic, so will not do much for pain, but will help healing - and make sure CMW checks you each time she comes round.

Get lots of rest (lying on your side) and try and move about a bit more each day...

I did think from you pictures that you can't have needed stiches, as I only felt up to going out for the first time yesterday! Know what you mean about showing her off, though!

Neeerly3 · 17/02/2009 16:55

congrats america - another one to add to the pile!

Been swimming and dragged myself round town for about an hour - only so many neutral clothes you can look at though!

Having a lovely cuppa and waiting for SOMETHING to happen, if not to actually meet baby but so i can tell everyone who's sending me texts everyday that "YES baby is here, so LEAVE ME ALONE!"

swampster · 17/02/2009 17:21

Hello, new babies, and welcome.

And thank you, everyone for lovely birthday wishes, I had a great day.

KT - don't have a salt bath - it could make your stitches dissolve too quickly! Only use warm water to start with, nothing else.

dinkystinky · 17/02/2009 17:23

Huge congratulations on the arrival of Leo America - hope all went well with the birth and the BF is going well.

Neerly - well done on the swimming and walking; hopefully its all helping get that baby that little bit closer to arriving..

KT - Please dont overdo things with stitches (I know you're really active but you'll just need to dial things down a little bit while you're healing and then you can get back to your very active life). The important thing to do with stitches (believe me I speak as a veteran of LOTS of stitches last time round - it took a consultant over an hour to stitch me up) is (i) keep the pressure off them (ii) keep them clean (lavendar/salt baths will help; comfrey oil or tea tree oil in a jug of water poured over the stitches regularly will also help keep them clean) and dry too (blot them off with big pads or use a hairdrier on a cool setting to dry them - not glamorous but works) (iii) do your pelvic floor exercises religiously at least 3 times a day (improves circulation down there) and (iv) change your pads really regularly (and clean down below each time you do). You should be feeling miles better within a week or so as MrsY said - if not, get your midwife to check them out. And congratulations on Poppy guzzling so much in her feeds - great news. Sounds like she'll be piling on the weight beautifully!

CMW finally turned up here today (only 24 hours after she was meant to)and all seems fine - Daniel is doing great (not really lost any weight since birth) and my stitches are healing well. DS1 is a little ill today unfortunately - really dodgy tummy and diarhoea - and feeling really clingy; am hoping its just a 24 hour thing....

dinkystinky · 17/02/2009 17:25

P.s. Lardy - hope that what you're going through is early labour; sounds like it!

KT - cross posted with Swampster: I prefer lavendar baths to salt ones but the CMWs always recommend salt for some reason...

Glad you had a good birthday Swampster with all your boys.

swampster · 17/02/2009 17:31

Eeeeek! I was told to use nothing on my soluble stitches (in my CS 'wound') - especially salt - as it could make them dissolve before I was properly healed.

ranirani · 17/02/2009 17:45

Hi everyone,
congrats on new babies!! seems like evryone is having babies in time but me
Going to see MW tomorrow to talk about induction.
First timer so no idea whats what, and plus they never tell you the truth!
I really really want to have an epidural as soon as poss, so what are my option for induction? do not want to have sweep as people say it could be painful and knowing me, it will be....

littlesez · 17/02/2009 18:36

KT you say im struggling to walk very far, as a first timer and someone who has never had stitches? my only advise can be just rest, I do sympathise as i know what its like to be very active but youve got to be kind to your body and let it heal in its own time xx did love all the pics though
