The other thread was too long and wouldn't let me add a new message.

I am 8+3 and as my previous m/c's have been at 9 weeks.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pooka · 12/03/2009 16:32

Oh mine are tiny in comparison -

dd was 6lb10oz, on her due date.
ds was 7lb14, a week late.

Not complaining

pooka · 12/03/2009 16:34

Still tore both times though. Think pushed too hard to quickly with dd (masked by strong epidural) and with ds the labour was about 2 and a half hours, so not much time to stretch.

pooka · 12/03/2009 16:38

Oh and have just seen consultant. He found the heartbeat all well.

Had a bit of a hard sell on the anti-d from the midwife, which was very funny because she took my blood pressure while arguing. Then had to take it again 5mins later to make sure it went down (it did).

They appear to have booked me for a homebirth, subject of course to all being well. I suppose the fact that was booked for one with ds was a giveaway that I might want one this time. Weirdly I feel less evangelical about it this time than I did with ds (where it didn't happen in the end because lack of midwives). I suppose I feel that that birth experience was still wonderful despite being in hospital, mostly because I left 2 hours after he was born. Que sera sera and all that. We shall see how things pan out and how I feel nearer the time.

LJ29 · 12/03/2009 16:50

I had a second degree tear with DC1 but DC2 who was huge came out like a dream! Much easier labour, delivery and not a single stitch (I don't normally shout too loudly about that tho!) I think if your body has already shown that you can birth a big baby you will be fine a 2nd and 3rd time. I have lots of friends who have had tiny babies and needed much more intervention such as ventouse and forceps. I know it sounds a bit hippy-ish but I think alot of it is state of mind, if you've done it once your body will be fine doing it again.

spats · 12/03/2009 16:56

LJ29 what is the weight to be classed as large baby, do you know? should i be referred maybe.

I amamummy lol at fanjo

Ladylush my friend had 1:800 and her girl is fine
Pooka told midwife didn't want anti D prophylatically and she agreed with me!! will only have it if have trauma and of course after delivery if baby is Rh+

Got to get out of a glucose tolerance test as said my dad was diabetic and took insulin so thought that automatically meant he was type I and apparently you have to have the test if close family member is type1. Anyway he is still classified as type 2 so will have to explan that, don't want that test with the horrid sugary water yuck.

blue76 · 12/03/2009 17:16

lol at fanjo...my bf calls mine a fanjita!!

can i ask - does anyone else look 6 months pg?? i got up yesterday with a huge bump...thought it must be wind but it's still as big today! this is my 3rd pg but has been 10 yrs since last pg. was v young 1st and 2nd time (21 and 23)

pooka · 12/03/2009 17:18

Spats - my midwife in last pregnancy was fully supportive of no anti-d. I suppose my fear this time is that I'm pushing my luck (though my brain says not). Both dcs so far have been Rh+, have had anti-d after each delivery.

My most recent blood test shows no antibodies.

I dunno. Think will ponder some more.

pooka · 12/03/2009 17:19

I look much more pregnant in the evening and when I've had a big meal. Most of the time only a little chubby.

AprilMeadow · 12/03/2009 17:26

Deffo look more like 5/6mths than 3.

DS was 7.15 6 days late
DD was 5.10 3wks 5days early

god knows when this one will arrive or what it will weigh

blue76 · 12/03/2009 17:57

nice to know I'm not the only one!

DD1 was 7.4 1 week early
DD2 was 7.10 4 days late

everyone reckons i'm having a boy this time...

lemonmoon · 12/03/2009 19:04

As a RH- myself, my midwife mentioned anti-D at 28 weeks. What's the reasoning behind arguing against it? Just curious. DH has offered to go for a blood test on the off chance he's negative too, bless him, just to save me a needle.

Had my scan at the FMC today - that place is like a nice hotel. So much calmer than the hospital, and good news: the nasal bone was visible this time and my stats jumped to 1 in 6166 for Down's. So much easier to ask questions this time and he explained things so much more, which I guess is what happens when you're not time-pressured. Anyway, we're delighted, and think it's the best £150 we've ever spent on anything.

ladylush my friend told me about a woman in her antenatal group who was 1 in 8 and her baby was fine too.

kookykid · 12/03/2009 19:05

Phew! That's taken me ages to catch up!

I am looking pretty big now and def pg rather than fat. Lots of people have commented in the last week - think with waiting for the results I must've been subconciously hiding it. Have been in maternity trews for 3 weeks now though, as couldn't stand anything tight across my tummy. Have been trying to manage on 1 pair black linens + comfy jim-jam bottoms whilst they're in the wash. Am going to see my stylish step-sister this weekend who is giving me all her maternity wear! Can't wait to have a bit more choice in my wardrobe.

Bobber - so sorry to hear about the bed-rest - what a hassle. Hope it eases the pain though. Good that you've got lots of help.

mumtobe - if you're getting headaches it might be that you're dehydrated. Try to drink a bit more water - it could help.

I, too, have been having disturbingly weird dreams. Sure they've been made worse this week by the full-moon!

kookykid · 12/03/2009 19:07

X-posts lemonmoon - great news! That'll put your mind at rest!

ladylush · 12/03/2009 19:16

Thanks Spats and Lemonmoon I'm not worried really. The cut off is 250 and my score is almost 4 x that. I could probably be even less worried if I had the CVS but I don't think it's worth the risk of m/c.
Lemonmoon - great stats I agree - your £150 was well spent.

Bobber - sorry to hear you are more or less confined to bed during the rest of your pregnancy I hope the next 6 months don't drag too much for you.

LJ29 · 12/03/2009 19:59

Yay! Well done lemonmoon. I know that feeling of relief. Have a V&T to celebrate. (one won't hurt)

Spats, I think the weight is 4.5KG which is exactly what DD was. The technical term for a large baby is Macrosomia.

peachygirl · 12/03/2009 20:12

Hi everyone I've been off the radar for a few days.
Great news about the scans everyone and hugs to those who are still worrying. Mine is still not for ages the 24th.

I have told everyone at work now due to my chicken pox risk. in my last PG they discovered I am not immune and as I work in a school and obviously open to infection. Last time I had to have 6 vials of immunoglobin injected into me as I came into contact with child who had it. This time I will have the same if I come into 'direct contact' with it (now you all try to define what that should be taking into account I work with every child in the school)but it only lasts 3 weeks and I can only have it once..... Basically I told people I had to know if they had it in their class then it would be decided by my GP and the immunologists. I went really red when I told everyone. It was like admiting I had been up to something!!

I'm still in my normal trousers and hoping to be for another couple of weeks I have got my mat clothes back off my friend and was pleased to see that I have more short sleeve tops than I thought. I will have to buy trousers though.

LittleRascal · 12/03/2009 21:00

hi all.just a quicky- Havent posted for a few weeks now. I read daily and been thinking about each one of you that posts on here. have been having issues with my computer so cant type properly so using a mates computer quickly (doing banking you know, never MNing!!!!).
Congrats on everyones scans and results. A relief!
Been suffering from headaches too- maybe it is dehydration (thanks for the tip!)
16 weeks this weekend- yea! finally looking a bit pg not a pie eater- people starting to comment that dont know- always makes me smile as its brave of them (what if i wasnt??!!)
off on a skiing trip this weekend (booked before i was pg!) - so its going to be me and my ds (11 months)arbing around and dh and mates hitting the slopes

pooka · 12/03/2009 21:31

Lemonmoon - I had my scan at the FMC and agree that is like plush hotel. Had a lovely sonographer who was really chatty and it was great to be able to schedule for when dh available (and kids at school/CM).

Won't go for my anomoly scan - will be at my local hospital so makes sense to go there rather than travel into town.

LittleRascal · 12/03/2009 22:17

forgot to add- felt little "panda" move a few time this week!like a fish in a fish bowl knocking against the side!!was aweeessssoommmeeee!!!I want more!!

audreyraines · 13/03/2009 08:18

Littlerascal, i feel the little move sometimes when i'm lying in bed in the morning. fish in the bowl is definitely a good description for this stage.

audreyraines · 13/03/2009 08:22

oh and i'm still vomiting - dinner (ham and cheese sandwich - all i could face) came back up last night. sigh. it's just oh so depressing. when will it end!?

newbie36 · 13/03/2009 08:58

Oh audreyraines you poor poor thing. Really does sound like you have had it bad. I last vomited on Monday and although nauseous from time to time I think it's passed. I'm really hoping your's will also pass soon aswell. I've got to say it's just been amazing not to be unwell for the past few days. That said though, agree with the others on the headaches thing. I'm not a headache-y sort of person but seem to be getting a lot recently. My midwife said it was a hormonal thing (isn't that what they say about everything in pregnancy??!!)

I seem to have a small bump too - and I'm only 12+1 - have put on a pound and a half so far and have no idea whether that's pregnancy or the large amount of muffins I've munched my way through this week (have a feeling it could be the muffins.....)

Fab news for you lemonmoon - really chuffed to hear you've had some good news. Just one other thing though - I'm Rhesus neg and confused about the injection thread too - I thought the antiD was a completely safe thing but having read some of the recent posts is it not?

lemonmoon · 13/03/2009 09:20

13 weeks today. Look like I've eaten a lot of pies.

Bobber I was lying in bed this morning thinking how I couldn't do that for the next 25 weeks. Really feel for you

I'll be back at Kings for the anomoly scan too pooka. Will just have to accept that we haven't got the cash Can you explain why you didn't want to have anti-D for me and newbie36?

BabyLady · 13/03/2009 09:28

Hi all, lots to catch up on. Sorry about the bed rest Bobber, and well done on all those successful scans.

Still a bit anxious here, no idea why, that baby is still ok. No signs that it is not but just paranoid! Can't wait to feel it move for some reassurance but with placenta in the front could be a while! Not looking any more pregnant at 16 weeks. My twin sister was the same but I want the bump to hurry up and pop out.

Sorry for my ignorance, what's D or anti-D? Is that the jab they give you afterward with vitamin K in it?

Re discussion on tearing and stitches, did anyone try perenial massage? I like the idea of avoiding tearing but it sounds a little ah interesting, let's just say.

MummyWilliams · 13/03/2009 09:36

Hi! Haven't posted for a while. Alot has been happenning. I got made redundant last Wednesday. We haven't been paid since January . Have to claim all the money back from the Government which could take up to 6 months. I am worrying alot about how we are going to manage financially.

Good news is that I had my first scan on Tuesday this week. All is well, baby measured 5.45cm, and is spot on for dates. Today I am 12+3. Will be having triple test on 27th March. Whilst having the scan, I thought baby looked like a girl (had a good close up on her? face). But a friend of mine performed the ring test on me (never heard of it before), and it says that I'm carrying a boy. I might not be popular for thinking/saying this but I really wanted another girl, as my son is a naughty little so and so. But obviously I will be happy with either as health outweighs the sex of the baby IYKWIM. Has anybody performed the ring test?

With regards to big babys, my daughter (1st) was 10lb 1oz (1 day late), born by emergency caesarean, as after 3 days of labour, they discovered I have a male shaped pelvis and therefore cannot deliver naturally. My son (2nd) was 8lb 12oz, born by elective caesarean a week early.

I will be having another elective this time .

I too gag whilst brushing teeth, and nearly always bring up a little bit of sick (tmi - sorry!).

On the maternity wear front, I went shopping yesterday, but everything is far too big when I try stuff on in my usual size (which is 12). Gonna go to Peacocks today to see if they are any better. Most of my clothes still fit but are definately not as comfortable as normal.

Rather long post sorry. xxx
