The other thread was too long and wouldn't let me add a new message.

I am 8+3 and as my previous m/c's have been at 9 weeks.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ooo lemonmoon I had the same thing in Gap. Tiny sizes only! I had a massive go at the poor sales bloke about how bad it was that they didn't have bigger sizes. I informed him that women get fatter during pregnancy and who on earth would need a size 0 blah blah blah. He looked quite scared . I found some in one of their other shops on Oxford Street (there is about 7 different shops along there!).

The pocket bands are great for now when we are inbetween and when the bumps are compact but wouldn't last to 40 weeks. Big band is very comfy for later on. My gap pair have a 'full band' which I don't really need yet so have folded the top part down. Its not too bulky under clothes (though my belly is).

Great scan news ladies

FairySparkles · 11/03/2009 21:27

Yeah second big bang's jeans advice - for this inbetween "who ate all the pie's" look, a little bit extra on the pockets is great, but from 'mahoosive' belly onwards (personally about week 26 - probably sooner with this one the way I'm going!) you need the big over the belly band. Last pg I lived in a massive pair of linen trousers with a band that came up to my armpits - you just folded it down to wherever was comfy'est - they were a life saver. Also a pair of jogging bottoms a size or two bigger than your usual size are invaluable in the last few weeks (and after if your not one of the lucky one's who goes home in their 'normal' jeans!)

On the 'dreams' discussion OMG where do I start! My dreams are mental normally anyway - but when I'm pg I could do with being sectioned! I'm running off and marrying ex's and giving birth to twins on a regular nightly basis - infact, my crazy dreams was one of the reasons I took a pregnancy test; I found myself sleep walking around the bedroom talking nonsense then awoke to a familiar sickly feeling........ clear blue was my next port of call!

hmmm - had my second McD's in as many days .....but 'happy meals' don't count right??!!.....

FairySparkles · 11/03/2009 21:38

Oh - forgot to show you guys this MN discussion I saw ages ago, I was thinking of baby names last night and remembered it, some of you may have seen it already but for those of you that haven't make sure you've got waterproof mascara on - it's hilarious!!
Not done a link thingy before so hope this works - here goes click here

Thusnelda · 12/03/2009 03:39

Yes I saw that! Brilliant. You'd think Jasper would be a safer choice if you insisted on giving a boy a precious stone name..

I've had my scan yesterday and it was all good though a bit of an ordeal.
Firstly the receptionist forgot me and my bladder was rather bursting when I finally got my scan about an hour after I arrived. Then I had to go outside and jump around twice before the baby was in a position to have the nuchal fold measured (which is 1.0 mm - absolutely fine).
Then waiting for the bloods, which eventually was really quick and painless, but all in all I spent nearly 4 hours at the hospital!
Which gave me plenty of time to read my notes..
I have three small fibroid tissue patches or something, nothing to worry about the sonographer said though she measured them carefully, my placenta is anterior which means I may feel the baby kicking rather later than others, and yes, the view was restricted by adiposity and fetal position. Charming.
Everything else was 'visible' and 'appears normal', and that's what we want to hear isn't it. Because however extra special this baby will be for me (and for the world of course, I can see a future nobel prize winner - I mean it's got two brain hemispheres already!), while it's in the womb I want nothing more or less than absolute and utter normality.

bobber · 12/03/2009 09:13

Morning all.

What amazing scan & test results?! Congrats to all! Ive still not had my magic number from the nuchal combined - they apparently give it to you in person & not over the phone, unless its not good news. So it should be fine.

Did get bad news from hospital physio yesterday unfortunately. Ive now got to be on bed rest for most of the day for rest of pregnancy & in a wheelchair for all trips outside the house. My pelvis is in a very sorry state apparently - not helped by me carrying on going to work on crutches in agony. As Im only 14w 5, I've got 25 weeks to go so Im feeling really pissed off. My students didnt take the news that I was pregnant well on Tuesday - the guilt is immense.

Sorry about that - moan over.

pooka · 12/03/2009 11:08

Bobber

You are completely entitled to rant/moan/grumble/grouse. What an absolute slog. Can't remember - do you have young dcs? If you do, how will bed rest work with them?

Blimey. I feel so sorry for you. Is there no chance that a bit of rest now will mean that maybe you can be on your feet for later pregnancy?

StealthPolarBear · 12/03/2009 11:18

oh no bobber! What are you going to do to entertain yourself? You poor thing!

bobber · 12/03/2009 11:26

Thanks pooka .

Yes I have a DD who is 3 1/2 who has been an absolute poppet about all of this - so caring. Luckily my OH works p/t (to look after her) anyway, and my mum lives around the corner & is retired, but appears far younger than me. So I have lots of help here luckily.

Physio did say I should see an improvement as I'm stopping all the bad things now. I realise now that I was an absolute idiot - but thats guilt for you - I was waiting for school to say "stop work & rest" - but it never happened!?!

But as bubs grows & puts more pressure on my pelvis it will likely get worse again. With DD I did actually feel a bit better in the last few weeks of preg - fingers crossed. Only 25 weeks to go

bobber · 12/03/2009 11:31

Thanks, Stealth.

I've only managed 1 hour & half in bed & got fed up...oh crap...

kookykid · 12/03/2009 11:32

I treated myself to this and these! I LOVE Isabella Oliver stuff, but it's SO expensive can only afford the sale stuff.

Sorry - haven't caught up properly, but will be back later. Must sleep while I get the chance............

iamamummy · 12/03/2009 12:10

hi ladies

bobber sorry you are having to go on bedrest from now on, great that your dd is being a little superstar and you have plenty or family around you to help out.

on the dreams side of things - i found myself last night leaping out of bed and rummaging through my dirty laundry on the floor - then i must have suddenly woken up and swiftly got myself back intoo bed, have no idea what that was all about but it was such a fast leap out of bed

well i have devoted the last day and a half to tracking down some reasonably priced MJ tickets with still no luck - however i shall be up at the crack of dawn tom when they officially go on sale

mumtobe23 · 12/03/2009 12:34

Afternoon, so strange about us all having weird or vivid dreams.
I've been having them too, and this morning my boyfriend said to me "I don't know what you were dreaming about last night but you were talking and mumbling all night!"

I keep getting annoying headachs in the last few weeks, think it may have something to do with my bad diet, i've never been a hhealth food fan but I seem to have totaly gone off all fruit and veg, do you think this might damage bub's growth? I do drink fruit juice's and loads of milk and take pregncare vitamins.
Hope your all well xx

AprilMeadow · 12/03/2009 12:45

I have also had a strange selection of dreams since pg. Dont remember most of them but do remember thinking when i woke up how bizarre they were!

Dh managed to get MJ tickets yesterday. 4 rows from the front no less! I think he momentarily lost his mind as i nearly passed out when he told me how much they were. Just wish they had been Take That tickets instead.

Off out this afternoon with dd to see if i can scout out any presents for her birthday next month. No idea what to get her!

yentil · 12/03/2009 13:14

how much? i badly want to go

audreyraines · 12/03/2009 13:29

bobber, pooryou, must be so hard to tell yourself to rest with a toddler. i'm glad you've got some help though. maybe some good dvds and books for you!

kooky, i love isabella oliver as well and was tempted by the sale stuff. might go and have a browse now!

iamamummy · 12/03/2009 13:55

april - im sooooo jealous!!! i just know that our tickets should we get any will be miiilllleeess away!! i might resort to ebay and pay a bomb to get a decent seat (how crazy am i!!!)

audreyraines · 12/03/2009 14:00

mumtobe, i think it's good to eat a good diet if you can manage it, but the baby will grow and develop regardless, it's like a little parasite. for most of the first trimester i couldn't eat vegetables except for artichokes , i never forced it because i would just feel so sick if i did. but now, i'm managing to eat a bit of stuff like courgette and red pepper. slowly slowly!

spats · 12/03/2009 14:47

bobber , poor you, that will be hard with a 3 1/2 yr old. 25 weeks doesn't sound that long sounds better than only 14 weeks pg

Mat trousers - i did prefer the one that go over the bump, however with DS#2 (who i may add was 9lb 8oz!! ) at the end the bump was so huge the trousers were too tight and used to pull my skin so i had to wear them under the bump, so i may go for under the bump ones this time. I guess if you have a little bump they would feel like it is contained. On the big baby bit, does anyone know if they get beiiger and bigger as i would be looking at a 10lb baby ouch - the prospect is not pleasing me. I may never be the same down below

mumtobe23 · 12/03/2009 14:49

Ahh thanks audreyraines I'm starting to feel guilty that i just can't seem to stomach healthy stuff, even fruity yoghurts dont stay down for long!

audreyraines · 12/03/2009 15:12

mumtobe, i reckon in early pregnancy, you just stick with whatever you can stomach. hopefully things will ease soon and you might even manage a bit of fruit and veg.
my midwife did tell me about a lady who was sick the whole way through and still delivered a 4 kg baby - amazing!

ladylush · 12/03/2009 15:49

Lol at never being the same down below I had a 91b 4oz ds so I don't much relish a bigger one either.

Glad your scan went well Thusnelda
I'm sure s/he will be a genius

I got my combined result today via phone. Could be better but not complaining as I am pretty ancient. 1:899 for Downs and 1:6000 for other trisomies. Not worth risking CVS as the risk of m/c is higher than the risk of Downs.

Anyway, I guess that means I can officially join the antenatal thread (with all your approval of course ). Great to be able to finally announce my pg in RL. Off to put my stats on the other thread.

ScorpiowithabigS · 12/03/2009 15:51

Yay

ladylush · 12/03/2009 15:57

Thanks Scorpio

LJ29 · 12/03/2009 16:02

Spats my first was 8lb 10.5 and my 2nd was 9lb 14.5 so I may be looking at an 11lber! I have been refered to the consultant though as DD is technically classed as a large baby so I think I will be monitored or maybe even induced early.

iamamummy · 12/03/2009 16:11

my ds was 8lb 13oz - i am dreading an even bigger baby, i dont think my fanjo could cope!
